Almost gave it 4 stars, but you can't judge a bar by its patrons. This is a nice dive. Great air conditioning. D [dee?] behind the bar is very attentive, fast, and friendly. The French dip was pretty fucken good, although it's a tough sandwich to fuck up lol. The Cole slaw isn't anything to write home about, and it was a tiny portion. So I'll get the fries next time. But the prices here are absolutely bananas. Idk how this place makes money when they're selling me beers for 2.75. I'll be damn back for sure. read more

The food is always gross, idk why I keep giving it a chance. Pizza was super doughy and I asked if I could get a refund and all that was offered was throwing it back into the oven. My friend and I already messed up the pizza at that point and throwing back into the oven seemed pretty unsanitary. Other than that, pretty nice pool tables and alright company. kinda the grimy type of people lmfao. We were in town to visit family. Stopped in for a couple of cocktails. haha! Apparently they don't get many people coming in for "bougie" drinks but they kicked it up to accommodate our martini and tequila grapefruit. Hilarious! Very lively bar and the staff is super friendly. Within 10 minutes of being here, there was a girl on girl fight that excited the whole bar. We had a wonderful time with the environment and the unexpected show. And you can buy beer by the bucket which is a neat feature. Will definitely return here again. read more

The food is great but have encountered terrible service the 3 times we have been there. Tonight we had to wait a long time for our drinks. Had to ask another waitress if she could send our server over. After some time she came with our drinks. Our food came which was their Friday fish special which was great. She asked if we wanted another drink. I said I needed a glass of water and my husband ordered a different beer. When she brought his beer and said anything else and I said yes my water please. She said she would be right back with it. She never came back with it and I had nothing to wash down my food with. I finally went to the bar and got my own glass of water. By now my food was cold and I lost my appetite as who wants to eat cold food? She didn't come back and it was 15 minutes later since I got my own water and she comes over finally with my water and I told her no thanks she took so long I had to get my own. No I am sorry so we asked for the bill and a carry out for my unfinished meal. She did take a little off the bill and only said she wasn't in her game. They have wonderful food but 3 strikes and you are out! She also brought the wrong beer for my husband's 2nd drink. read more

I have not been to this bar since it was called Spirits . I'm from chandler so this was quite the drive but we were meeting up with some friends to have a few beers and dance / play pool. We arrived at 8pm -/ there were only about 15 people in the entire place . We ordered nachos and they were soooo good! Like seriously the best nachos I think I have ever had ! We played pool for about an hour and the dj arrived and stared playing music around 9. He started with slow music - which was boring and then finally around 9:30 he started playing actual music to dance to. We had a blast! We left around 10:30-11 --- the waitresses kind of acted like they hated their jobs .. one gal especially walked around like irritated to be there ... we just ordered our food from the bar! Before you even start to read any reviews or consider if this place is for you, back up and read the NAME of this bar. The owners could not make it any more clear, it is named The Trough. Now go look up what that word means, oh don't bother, I'll do it for you ... a "trough" is a container that is used to feed pigs, horses and cows. If you just put on your finest Sunday-go-to-meetin' duds and are expecting white linen table clothes, crystal candelabras, and Michael Buble at the piano bar (as some reviewers obviously did), you're going to be freaked and do nothing but moan about "how dirty this place is". DUDE (or dudette) this is a freakin' COWBOY/BIKER BAR! Just ignore the whimpers about it being dirty, bars are dirty, end of story. The only other major complaint I've seen is that some people say the average customer age is "too young" while others complain that it's"too old", obviously shooting down any credibility for that broad assumption. The reality is it's a mix of both young and old, mostly local folk just whoopin' it up having a good time. They play BOTH types of music (country and western) with a sudden Slayer, Metallica or Megadeath mixed in to keep the drunks awake. They play the music LOUD, so much so that sitting outdoors at the far end of the patio my drink kept sloshing out of my glass. The wait service is perfectly named ... you wait, and wait, and wait ... they are very short staffed, but our waitress Kasey was cool and friendly but we did have to go hunt her down at times. Okay, now for the food - we went for Friday Fish Fry. Where I come from angry mobs have been known to gather with pitchforks and torches at any bar that doesn't make an awesome fish fry. The Trough passes the test. The fish is cooked properly and the pieces are thick and meaty, the fries are basic but not soggy and the coleslaw is several notches above average. And it's CHEAP, dirt cheap! So put on your skin-tight Wranglers and rhinestone tee-shirts (the ladies should also wear something appropriate) and come on down to party with the cowboys, the bad reviews simply missed the point of what it's like to eat and drink at a trough. read more

While I will be honest and say the only carb that has ever gone in me from from The Trough was served to me in a glass, I bet their food is good too. This bar is really big. Has several pool tables and plenty of seating. At the hour we were there, the crowd was 95% under 30 years old. Music was mostly heavy metal and extremely loud. The bartender was attentive, but not real personable. If older, I would suggest going earlier in the day if you want to dine and have an enjoyable time. read more
