First time here checking out a friend's acoustic show. The place has plenty room. Good staff friendly staff. Service was good on point. They poured the drink very well no complaint his little slow the night I went, but I've heard it picks up. I guess pretty busy poop not sure about the food due to I didn't have anything to eat food but everything else is spot on. I like it. Dive bars are pretty standard. Usually a juke box, pool tables, and a beer garden/patio area. Dog Run is no different but it does seem to be a bit more edgy. Most dive bars in AJ have some regulars, a friendly bartender and you can come and go without hassle. Dog Run has all of this but it's the crowd that brings the score down. My best way to describe it is that is the one bar I've been to recently that I would not allow my wife to go to without me. I've only been once so my score may get modified if I go again. Had the New York strip steak dinner on Sunday as a take out. Asked for it to be cooked rare and I was not disappointed. The meal came with a baked potato, coleslaw, and garlic toast. The meal was very good and was also still hot, when I got it home. The price was very reasonable for the amount of food. Went for lunch and had their fish special. The cod is lightly battered. And fried to perfection. And delicious. It comes with a side of fries or onion rings and Cole slaw. Friday nites are soooo busy, it's hard to get a table and service is the best it can be for the crowd. I'd suggest lunch time if you want the fish special; however fish is always on the menu. Truly. Food is good, most Bartenders are nice. I wish one was still there. It's a casual atmosphere, not a dressy place. If you get done with work and want to chill, they have pool tables, and those atr always busy. Juke box all the time with current and some oldies going all times but wenseday, Friday, Saturday evenings, from 7:30-11:30 it's karaoke nights. Or some say scareyoke. It's a opinion. Very disappointed the last visit - cole slaw was terrible and fish was fried over done / Poor service to boot !!!!!

As soon as I walked in I knew that this place isn't for everyone, and some who wander in may be very disappointed. You see, this is a saloon. It's not a café or a cocktail lounge or a bistro. It's an old cowboy bar with worn wood floors, some honkey-tonk music playing, a couple of pool tables and people who came here to drink, have some good food, and enjoy a good time with their friends. At that it excels. Make no mistake, this isn't a pretend saloon, it's not one of those "theme" places where there are a hundred identical clones owned by some mega-corporation planted into pretentious shopping malls throughout the country. This is a local hangout, a one of a kind, and what you see is what you get. I almost hate to admit I didn't come here tonight to cry in my beer while listening to Patsy Cline, or get slop-faced with my friends, or even to play pool. I came because I heard they have a good Friday Fish Fry (which they also serve on Monday) that's cheap, filling as tasty. Whoever told me that was right. You can get it with as many pieces as you can eat - the pieces aren't huge so three was about right for me. While they're not big, they are lightly battered firm white cod that the person in the kitchen knows how to cook right. You can either have French fries or onion rings with them (and the serving size is big) plus a cup of decent tasting coleslaw. I've found in life that when people go to bars they experience a certain personality shift throughout the evening and at some point bad service becomes good and good service becomes a blur so I can only speak for the service we got which was hometown friendly. There was a lot of hugging going on between staff and customers and I got the feeling a lot of people know each other and they have a lot of return customers. It's hard to believe they would come back if the service was bad. I can't think of any reason not to come back except I personally would try to avoid Karaoke night. The only thing that left me wondering is why they have such a tiny sign out front. I've noticed that at several restaurants in the area and I'm guessing it either has to do with zoning or the more plausible explanation that when you treat your neighbors right they don't need a sign to tell them where you are. read more

This is our favorite local bar in AJ. The bartenders are friendly - It's nice when the bartender remembers the beer you drink and you visit maybe 2x a month. I highly recommend the pork tenderloin sandwich. read more

Got a call late Saturday night to head over to the Dog Run to hang with some Family. As i drove by it twice i learned, If you blink you'll miss it. The location is in a industrial like building. First impression is that its definitely a hole in the wall bar. They have 3 pool tables, high tables, and bar. Nothing spectacular. The waitress was pretty quick to get a cold one in my hand as I got settled into a seat. As I got relaxed I realized I was in for a treat, blaring on the speakers was a karaoke host trying desperately to sing Meatloaf "id do anything for love"... After locating him in the bar as he was walking around putting on his show, he made me chuckle even more. He came prepared tonight looking like Brittney Spears with his microphone headset on. I felt cheated though because throughout the whole song he didn't even give a wave, hip thrust, or do a jig, which made me think why the headset?? Didn't matter, he wore that headset microphone like he was Beyoncé at the MTV music awards!!! This is definitely a locals bar. Everyone seemed to know each other, they were all pretty friendly and social. There were a few fellas that I would have cut off 6 beers ago, but not here. There they were swaying back and forth to silence in-between the music breaks. While the music was playing you would have really known though, because they seemed to sway along with the music.Overall fun great night. The bathrooms were clean, so that's a plus! It's your typical bar in AJ but we've been going there since we moved to the area 3 years ago. The bartender is super friendly and always greets us when we walk in the door as well as the guy who runs karaoke (idk if they want their names displayed but they know who they are). The drink prices are average for the area and there is a kitchen. Karaoke is a blast and for being in the middle of snowbird haven is a nice place to go if you want a younger, mixed crowd. read more

I absolutely love places I can to walk to from my office. This place is a little hard to find if you aren't looking for it. The sign has definitely seen better days and there's no landmark sign out by the road. When you walk inside, it's a little awkward, you aren't sure which door to use, it feels a little like you're walking into someone else's patio. Once you're inside, it's dark and cool and playing country music. Through the week during the day, you won't have any trouble finding seating. On a friday or saturday night though, good luck. This place will be packed. The fish fry brings people from all over the valley out and especially the winter visitors in the cooler months. I highly recommend the chicken strips and fries. It's a good portion for their $8.95 price and I couldn't eat it all and ended up sharing with others in our group. The drinks were ice cold and the service was friendly. Yes, will I go back, I had a great time, the CS. Is well, yes and the food is good too, they have a pool tables and well they do know how to make a margarita and well it's a nice place to go and relax after a long day or a great place to go for your hang out spot. You can do the dog runs and house runs, lol, you can bet on those races their, so that is a plus, if one likes to bet a bit here and their and grab a drink at the same time. I pop in every now and then, especially if I'm craving their Cheese Curds. But unfortunately, I won't be returning for them BECAUSE they don't taste the same anymore. They're made differently now. I don't know if they changed their batter, or if it's their grease that needs changing, or what. But I'm convinced they're not going to be as good as they used to be. Another reason why I won't be returning are the waitresses. Every time I come in, it seems like they 'choose' not to notice me. I'm standing where everyone else is, but they still overlook me. I find myself chasing them around the bar to get my order in. They sigh, and in frustration and tell me they'll be with me in a second. Of course I'm considering that there are people ahead of me, but when new customers walk in and sit down at the table, they are being noticed and served before me. There wouldn't be that much people inside, but the more I'm waiting, more people are showing up and it leaves me not being helped at all; which is why I call in my orders and pick them up. Even then when I go to pick up my order, it's the same treatment. When I try to walk in and order, I end up leaving because I'll be waiting 10m with no one approaching me while everyone is getting refills. Whatever their problem(s) are: rude people, no/less tips, attitudes from customers, ect., new/all customers want and should be taken care of equally. I'd hate to pull that race card; because every time I go in there, I'm always the only Brown one in there (at the time I'm there) so I don't know what kind of crowd they're used to serving. It's just always so hard ordering when everyone else are so easily acknowledged and you're not (for some reason). I've been going there a good amount of times throughout the years to grub and shoot pool; but I think this is it for me. My years of going there has been 'alright.' Terrible service, stopped in last Thursday around 6 waited 10 min at the bar standing there and never got served so I walked out...

So the word was this restaurant had good fish so we gave it a try. Obvious a local place, which I'm great with, but previous reviews were right. It is SO slow. We waited a good 45 plus minutes for lunch at 2:30 in the afternoon with only a few patrons at the bar. Our waitress ,during that time, didn't acknowledge us once for drink refills, and after the food arrived we had to ask for refills of water, condiments and one of our party had to go to the bar to ask for more tea. Ok food, nothing special, so no need to return. Probably a good place at night for drinks and pool. Fun things to look at on the walls. read more
