They never answer the phone. I've been to that location it is never that busy to not answer. Just pure lazy.

I will have to say that Nationwide stores in general can be very challenging. This store however is different. Tom who is a manager there is absolutely fantastic. He is patient knowledgeable and will give his honest opinion with regard to what style looks good on you. Moreover, he is an absolute wizard at fixing them on your head and measuring them for the lab! I have taken in a dozen pair of glasses that I thought were mangled and pretty much unfixable. Not only did he make minor repairs and adjustments they fit better when he was finished then they did originally!! Dr Andrew Leed, I believe it's his last name, also shares the same character traits. I brought my 85-year-old mother in who can't make a decision between one thing! He was thorough, patient, able to explain what her eye conditions, the results of her tests and the affect that different conditions had on her vision in a simplified yet detailed way. He's an optometrist that I have also gone to and have had the greatest success with the prescriptions I have received. This store has a large selection of glasses ranging from pretty crummy to fairly nice. Nothing really high-end but if you want to bring your hi end frames in there is no up charge anymore to send them to the lab. It gets busy and sometimes it's difficult to get through but just try again and usually somebody will pick up the phone within 10 to 15 minutes. Schedule an appointment for your exam. If you're in the neighborhood you might want to drop by and look at glasses prior to the exam to cut down the time factor that day. Main takeaway- be sure to have Dr Andrew lead examine your eyes and make sure that Tom is there when you need to have your sight measurements evaluated for the lab and again for fitment when you come to pick up your glasses. I have been seeing these two gentlemen now for three or four years. When it comes to healthcare I I do not settle for mediocre service. I have never asked a question that went unanswered or unchecked and I have never been disappointed with issues that needed to be resolved- for example I'm not happy with the lenses. They work with you within reasonable parameters and will resolve the problem efficiently effectively and without pushback! You will not be disappointed. Everything you need done by this location is slow. Everyone is always new to the company. Only 1 person at the location is able to sell you glasses. Two people are just sitting there behind the counter on snap chat. I will let you know how long I wait just to put in a repeat order of the same glasses my son got a few weeks ago..... I would like to give this a zero star. I made an appointment for this location because of where I had my next meeting. Appointment time when making the appointment was for 10:15 am. I was asked to arrive at 10:00 am to fill out paperwork. As a first time customer, I get that. However after getting there at 10:00 am filling out paperwork and looking around for some different frame it was now 10:50. I asked the assistant manager, why this was taking so long and was told that my appointment was for 10:45 and that they were running just a little behind. Seriously - 45 minutes to fill out 4-5 sheets of information. They didn't bother to tell me that when making the appointment, also didn't tell me that they would dilate my eyes and would need to make sure that I had a way home. They didn't bother to tell me that I should plan on the minimum of 1 1/2 hours for the process. We are now at the point of almost 2 1/2 hours for an eye exam. This does not include picking frames, fittings etc. I have worn glasses for over 10 years and this is the worst exam and customer service I have every received. read more

So let me tell you about my horrible experience I had without even seeing the doctor!! On November 25th I had an apt set for 445 and came in at 430. I decided to leave at 520 when I hadn't been seen yet much less had anyone had the courtesy let me know the doctor was running late. I asked one of the front desk ladies if she could find out what was taking so long. She stepped back into the office then stepped back out in the same motion and all she said was that I was next. Extremely unhelpful. I needed someone to let the doctor know I had been waiting a long time and at least deserved an eta and an apology for the wait. I rescheduled for December 2nd at 330. I got off work a little late so I called to let them know I may be 15 minutes late. Because you know I'm a decent human being who cares about other people's time. I speak with Taylor who double checked to see if that would be an issue. She tells me that would be fine. I show up at 339 (earlier than I said I would) only to be told my appointment had been pushed back and it would be ANOTHER long wait. I don't think so. I explain how frustrated I am. Of course I get no apology or response at all. Is it just me or is it a requirement to be brain dead and miserably rude in order to work a front desk job? Still upset for wasting my precious time yet again. I call back and asked for Taylor. I ask her why she didn't bother to tell me that she had decided to ruin my day and move my appointment back. She proceeds to tell me that her words were "we can still accommodate you" I'm sorry but no. You should have had the courtesy to ask if it was ok to push my appointment back instead of vaguely telling me "it would be fine". You didn't know me. You didn't know why I was upset but you still should have been polite. Your job isn't hard. Creating a proper schedule isn't hard. Find a new job. And I'm not here to just rag on Taylor. No, her and two others I've also had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with were rude and obviously brain dead enough to schedule me as well as a mother and her two little girls at the exact same time. An eye appointment is generally an hour right? Do you not know how to do math? Did you expect me to be ok with waiting for 3 hours after showing up early? I had an appointment at 4280 E. Indian School Road #107 for a contact lens appointment at 10:30AM. When I went to check in I was told it was an eye glass appointment by the lady at the counter, I corrected her and she asked if I was sure I asked for a contact lens appointment. I said yes, they fixed it and all was good. After waiting for 15 minutes I asked how much longer it would be, I was told 10:30AM was my check in time and not my appointment time. I said it would have been nice to know that, since that was never explained to me. Finally had the appointment and was done around 11:30AM and I was told I would need to wait to see the eye glass person, OK I'll wait. After waiting for almost 30 minutes I asked the lady at the counter if I could just pay and go. She went and talked to the manager on duty and came back to be a said I would have to wait. The MOD was busy, because she "has her own stuff to do". When I asked if my only option was to wait or leave and do the all over again, I was told "yeah, pretty much". I replied I thought that was bullshit. So I have been waiting this long I was not about to give up. Finally saw the lady who would take care of the contacts and all she did was take my payment and told me they would call me when the sample comes in. I waited over 30 minute to do a 2 minute transaction that only one person it the place could do. The level of customer service is horrible. Was I angry? Yes. I did not raise my voice and regrettably I did drop one BS. The level of I don't care by these employee is through the roof. I was told I could not have my contact lens prescription, so now I have to deal with the people at the location again, which I do not want to, but oh well. I will not be returning to any Nationwide Center. read more

Pretty much every review sums up my experience. Waited an hour, and the front office said the doctor would be another 20 minutes likely. They obviously don't read their reviews or they don't care. My time is valuable and I did not see any sense of urgency. I would suggest allowing more time in between appointments so that the doctor is not so far behind. read more

The optomitrist earned 5 stars. The transitional lenses 5 stars. The frames 1 star. The breakage hassle 1 stars. 12 ÷ 4 = 3 stars Never EVER buy glass frames from Nationwide! Mine broke 8 months after I got them. Nationwide wouldn't fix them. Gave me a couple local repair guys cards. Spent $40 to get them fixed...just past the hinge the temple broke off. Three months latter they snapped on the other side, same spot. I'm going to elsewhere and get new glasses today ... I hope. read more

Roy is the manager there and I was and am thoroughly impressed with his customer service!!! I had ordered my contact lenses through them and needed to cancel. I felt bad and wasn't sure if I could get a refund based on the fact that they were a special order item. He accommodated my request without making me feel like I was putting him out in ANY way considering it was a special order. Additionally, he saw that I had already been charged and called me to make sure he could reverse that charge. His customer service and follow-through were exceptional and it is because of this that I will most definitely get my next pair of glasses and contact lenses from them. First impression is it must be family friendly because there were a lot of kids when I walked in. I showed up on time to find they are running 20 minutes behind although I wasn't told I over heard this between two employees speaking. Waiting area is comfortable but I rather them be on time then knowing what the waiting area is like. I was hard up for an eye exam so I didn't really have a choice the hours here are great! Very accommodating for people that don't have doctor hours. The doctor was very nice and friendly, i was able to get in and out of the actual meeting with the doctor in about 10 minutes. Frame Selection: They really don't have staff people there that can help you decide they are all very busy assisting the appointments. The have a good selection of framed at a medium price point and budget friendly. I am a designer frame I must admit and although they had a small selection is was a good selection, Fendi, Coach, Versace, Escada, Oakley - They have an amazing selection of Ray Bans!!! I sprung for a pair of prescription Ray Bans. I am going back for my 7 day checkup for the new contacts and pick up my frames. Will check back in. read more

My friend and I both went at the same time to the Optique Center at Tatum and Shea in Phoenix. The store was very clean and well stocked. (I must have tried on 100 pairs and didn't even touch 1/2 of them). The technician was extremely friendly and thorough, as well as the doctor, and we did not wait long. The staff was extremely solicitous, I would rarely rate a store five stars, and don't know all of them, but have been to three of their stores so far. (I have several children). I saw the reviews and scheduled anyway bc it is so close to my office and had appointments available asap. I really wish I had scheduled an appointment ANYWHERE ELSE! I walked in for my 11am apt at 10:45 and didn't get to see the doctor until 12:10 and left at 12:30. Ridiculous! The tech and doctor were very nice but the front office staff was rude. I questioned why she was trying to charge me for a contact exam when I have never been charged with my insurance before and she said it was their own fitting fee when you don't buy contacts with them. I said ok I will order my contacts with you and she told me I couldn't because I had to wear my trial pair first. So I am stuck with this bogus $50 fee no matter what. read more

Went to the Nationwide Vision Center on Grand Avenue in Surprise, AZ. The optometrist I had scheduled my appointment with was not there that day, so I was examined by someone else. I was told that my eyes actually don't need as strong a prescription. When I came in to pick up the glasses, the person at the counter, just handed them to me. No fitting to see how well they fit or sitting down to make sure they are ok. I told her my vision is not good and she said give them 30 days. Well I waited longer than 30 days and I am back to wearing my previous prescription. I also have gotten a nick right in the center of the lens. So much for buying the extra coating on the lenses for protection. I will NEVER go back there again. Didn't think they were very professional. read more

I walked in with an emergency and was in and out back to work, all within an hour. Matter of fact, they didn't even have temporary contacts for me, but I NEEDED them bad, so Joe and his team found some supplemental ones for me to walk out the door in. The doctor was great and one lady was hospitable but the rest of the staff seemed completely incompetent. They couldn't seem to give me a proper quote on how much an eye exam would cost. A week after my exam they still didn't have my trial contacts and weren't willing to call other locations to see if I could pick up a pair at another Nationwide. I should have listened to these other reviews but I had gone to other nationwide chains for a few years and put up their mediocrity and often very very rude optometrists. This is my final straw though. My husband went to them to get glasses over a month ago. We are still waiting for them. Paid a little over $200. We were told it would be 7-15 business days. It's been 23 business days so far, we've been told twice they were lost, and the manager, Emily, says she will call me back every time I talk to her and then she never does. Feels like we are being strung along. This is a terrible experience. I went to Barnett-Dulaney eye center on 22nd prior to my husband going to nationwide for his glasses. I went there because I had a coupon but they will be getting all our business from here forward for glasses prescriptions. I paid $180 for my lenses and they told me it would take 5-7 business days. I told them I was going on vacation in a few days and they said they would mail them to me where I was staying. Then they actually surprised me with getting them done in 3 days so I was able to pick them up! Friendliest group of people. Hindsight is 20-20 so they say. But learn from my mistake: Avoid Nationwide, listen to reviews, and find somewhere else to do your business. Hope we get his glasses soon. Ps. Did I mention his current ones are also broken?? I am very disappointed with the service I received at the Indian School location in Phoenix. After waiting for a half an hour, I was finally told that there was a problem verifying my insurance, which I called and did myself with no problem. So after I was able to do the Nationwide employees job, I was told I would have to wait, because they had to take other people ahead of me, when I was here long before them and I had an appointment FIRST or reschedule and come back another day. I went here about 3 years ago and still remember how awful it was. I decided that I would never use them again after this. I arrived 10 minutes early and had to fill out pointless paperwork, they could never keep track of my forms, no matter how many times I had been in there. I had to wait for well over an hour in the waiting room. All the employees at the front counter were rude, even when I called in on the phone. They all were loud in their non-work related gossip too. The doctor prescribed me like 4 different kinds of contact lenses and said it was just guess work and that he didn't know if they would work right with my eyes. All of them wound up being bad. But the staff were nice and tried to accommodate. I have not had problems with insurance or being billed for things I don't need. I went in and did a medical as i was having problems with my eyes i went through the whole exam doctor seemed very nice afterward i was told if i wanted a copy of my prescription it would be an additional $ 18 ok i paid it went back the next day and ordered glassed was told 3 to 5 days now it has been 7 days and i am told it will be another week as they had to send the frames to the lab and the lab just received them wow also the possibility of contacts was never discussed with me as an option to glasses also the 2 pair for $99 turned into 1 pair for $140 so i call and ask about contacts they tell me since i am a new and existing customer it would only be an additional $50 for a fitting and i could just come in so 1 1/2 days later i go in explain everything to the lady and she tells me she could get me in in 2 weeks mind you there is only 1 other customer in the store besides myself i explain i will be leaving town for work and will not be beck till the end of October and she replies that i have 90 days to receive that $50 dollar deal i just told her i would not be in town for the next 90 days as i am to leave in 2 weeks that is why i came in now so we would have time for the fitting ect ect so it seems they are more concerned about taking money from new clients than taking care of a new and current customer mind you i have never had glasses or contacts so all of this is new to me and they sure didn't take any extra minutes to help explain anything to me about any options and i feel like i have been ripped off and disregarded so i have only rated 1 star and i would not recommend anyone go there and since this needing glasses thing is all new to me i really am not sure as to were i should take my business to but it wont be here at the Greenway and Cotton ln store in Surprise read more

I had to give it one star just to comment but they deserve a score of Minus 5 stars...Customer service at the store at Tempe Market Place is the worst anywhere. About 8 workers milling around doing nothing but chatting between themselves and lots of giggles. I was told my glasses would be ready in 7 to 10 business days. It is now going on 12 business days and I just got a call it will be another 4 business days. They are only single vision glasses without any treatments of any kind. I called to check on them the other day and was put on hold four times because the valley girl on the phone assisting me did not know the answer to even one question I asked. I will NEVER EVER go to Nationwide again. My daughter went to Lens Crafters and had a great experience and her glasses were ready in an hour. Go Lens Crafters!!! read more
