Subject: Recognition for Exceptional Kindness - Gina at VisionWorks, East Cactus Rd, Phoenix…read more To Whom It May Concern, I would like to recognize Gina at your East Cactus Road location in Phoenix for her extraordinary kindness and service. When I came in with broken glasses, Gina quickly assured me that my insurance would cover them and even put a rush on the order since I was heading back to California for medical appointments. That alone was thoughtful, but what she did next truly touched my heart. As I was leaving, Gina called me back. She said she didn't want me driving without glasses. She walked over to the display wall, took a sample frame, gently popped my lenses out, and placed them in the frame so I could see clearly until my new pair arrived. She gave me safety and peace of mind without me even asking. After everything I've been through, including breast cancer treatment which affected my sight and losing a sister 2 weeks ago, Gina's compassion and understanding reminded me how powerful a simple act of kindness can be. She went far beyond her role and it made all the difference. Please recognize Gina not only as an excellent employee, but as someone who leads with genuine care and empathy. Her extra kindness is something I will never forget. Sincerely, Mary McNally

For years, I went into the Paradise Valley Mall to see an optometrist and to order glasses. When…read moreit became Visionworks and moved across Cactus Road, I followed along. While I wish my vision insurance was better, I have had positive experiences at this Visionworks location with the customer service, glasses ordered, optometry appointments, and overall experience. I have found it easy to schedule appointments even for the next day to meet with the optometrist though it has been a bit annoying that the online system requires anything I sign online to be signed again in person. I recognize that this isn't specific to this Visionworks location but the entire system. The reminders online are helpful, and I typically find myself with a relatively short appointment to meet with the optometrist, who is very knowledgable, helpful, and caring (similar to his predecessors over the last 10+ years). I have had a number of questions about my insurance last year and again this year. I have found that by sitting down with one of the associates, I have been able to learn a lot about what my insurance provides (and doesn't provide). They have been patient with me last year and this year when I have asked questions when they could certainly have just passed me along to another associate. When I have been ready to find a pair of glasses, associates have been willing to team up to show me different pairs of glasses got try on and then to answer questions about frames and lens and any special requests from transition lens, flexible frames, no-scratch lens, and more. I have also learned from the associates that sometimes the available coupons are better than insurance. I was at Visionworks today and found that using my insurance or a 50% off coupon came out to only about a $20 difference. I found that I had recently received a 50% off coupons on frames/lens though just after leaving, I came across a 60% off coupon online. You can find available coupons/discounts at https://www.visionworks.com/special-offers. I'm looking forward to seeing my new glasses with a new prescription as they arrive within the next two weeks!

I went to this practice as a new patient because of an insurance change. I received a routine eye…read moreexam from Dr. Chacon, who was kind and helpful. After my appointment, I received an explanation of benefits that seemed to conflict with the amount I was billed. When I called the office to address it, I was transferred to the "office manager," who was immediately aggressive and rude. She spoke over me repeatedly when I expressed my concerns about a "contact lens fitting" that had not been submitted to my insurance and cost more than $70. When I asked her to please not interrupt me, she asked if there was anything else I wanted to address. I told her that I had been a contact lens wearer for many years (and worn the same brand/relative prescription during that time,) so I didn't understand what the contact lens fee entailed. She continued to interrupt me, at which point I informed her I just wasn't going to be returning. She hung up on me before I could finish speaking. While the providers at this practice are good, the staff need better training for communicating over billing and other concerns. The "office manager" was unprofessional and went out of her way to escalate our conversation. If you are looking for a new eye doctor, please look elsewhere.

4.20.21 I have been patronizing both Buena Vista Opthalmologists AND Contact Lens center in this…read moresame building for more than TEN years. My reviews for both have been five star. This is where I get my eye exams and buy my contacts so naturally, it's super convenient to be able to order eye glasses here as well. I don't see a separate page to review their Optician's, which is unfortunate because my experience there was horrible. I have bought several pairs of glasses over the years at this location. The last time was 2016, so yes, five years ago. The older gentleman who used to operate this store was kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Unfortunately, the current optician, Shelley Jewell, is just the opposite. First, their selection is underwhelming: not many frames to choose from. I picked two frames and then it was time for "the numbers." My prescription is so strong that my lens cost more than the frames. Shelley proceeded to give me a price that I thought was "kind of high" but then again, the lens always make the price higher. However, I then asked her to review ALL elements of this order: + High Index (thin lenses) vs Polycarbonate (thicker lenses) + Blue glare (if you're looking at computer screens) vs regular + Photochromatic or adaptive lens that get darker once you're outside in the sun + Progressive lens aka invisible bifocals (yes if you're 40+, that might be a thing) vs. regular lens There are four pricing tiers to choose from for thickness of lens, the lowest index aka thickest lens to the highest index aka thinnest lens. Once she explained the pricing, I realized Shelley had given me the pricing for the highest index lens. Super presumptuous. When I asked her to please itemize so that I could see the difference in pricing, Shelley made a face, as if she was totally put out. She then proceeded to inform me that the frame would "show" the thicker lens and it would be heavier. Not new information for someone who's been wearing glasses since I was a kid and now investing in them as an adult for 30+ years. Do you think I don't know that? She's trying to talk me out of the thicker lens because she doesn't want to do all the different cost breakdowns. Which is her job. And she wants me to spend more money. Which does not fit the price point I mentioned up front. Getting the middle grade lens was the best choice for me, given my budget, which I shared with her. I've had the "Cadillac" of lens, the highest index lens, before, when I could afford it. But that was not going to be this pair. She proceeded to calculate the different prices and write them down for me. I was going to ask her to do that for the second pair but a coworker came in and she got up from the table, to socialize with that person. IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR TRANSACTION. Are you kidding me? That nailed it. Done. Not spending my money here. As any good salesperson in ANY industry knows, none of this was good customer service/sales etiquette. incredibly short-sighted. Pun intended.
