Amazing! Terrific! Outstanding!! Dr. Bullington is truly wonderful! I sustained a corneal abrasion Thursday morning- called his office and they had me come right over! They got me in right away! Dr Bullington and one of his partners "tag-teamed" - they diagnosed and treated me so quickly knowing how much discomfort I was in. They made sure I was treated and out the door as soon as possible- all this while they were treating their scheduled patients! The medical care I received through Biltmore Eye Physicians was outstanding. The doctor was personable and took time to conduct a comprehensive exam. I was prescribed an eye drop and went through their office to fill the Rx, which has been frustrating. They use a pharmacy called Star Care, who sent my Rx to Coolidge Pharmacy, who sent my Rx to a company called Nimble Rx. I'm spending all day tracking my rx so that it arrives before I leave for the holiday. When I call these pharmacies (during business hours), their message says they are closed. High marks for the doctor, just don't rely on their supply chain for prescription meds. Get your hard copy rx and fill it with your preferred pharmacy. read more

My first time walking into the practice as soon as I walked in, the people in the front desk were very nice. They handed me the piece of paper to fill on information. While I was waiting, I was looking at the practice and I was very organized very clean. Very nice. Then came in the technician(Alexis) to greet me inside. She was very nice very polite and had a big smile on her face. And then when I spoke with Dr. Wong, she was very helpful explaining what could be a better option for my eyes. Everyone at the practice look like they love their job and gets along just fine. It's a really nice practice. If you ever need your eye exam or a check up. I've been going here for years for my special eye condition of keratoconus. Dr. Bob is very knowledgable, is gentle mannered, never in a rush to get onto the next patient, always has a smile, and always takes great care of me. One time in particular, I lost a contact lens while out of state. When I got home, I called, and they said they were booked for the next couple of weeks. When I explained my situation of using just one contact lens, they found a way to get me in. When I got there, I realized it was lunch hour, so he willingly missed his lunch to take care of my emergency. Customer for life. I recommend Dr. Bob to anybody. read more

Both Ann and Bob Bullington were my Doctors. I think both are the very best in the field. Ann was not doing surgeries so she recommended Bob. Both in my opinion are outstanding Dr's for eye care. Unfortunately, I could no long see them as their staff told me they no longer accepted my insurance. Very sad to hear. I heard Ann retired, wish her well. They helped me so much with my eyes. Dr. Villareal is an excellent doctor. She is very thorough and explains everything very well. The staff at this practice is another story. Terrible. One staff member who stated she works in the back office with the doctors hung up on me after I called in for more details on a prescription I was given. Before hanging up, she asked me what I wanted her to do. On my first visit the tech clearly didn't know what she was doing. She did an exam on me that took about 20 minutes. I had to come back in and redo the exam for a second time. There seems to be a trend where great doctors come with awful staff. Unfortunately I will not be going back to Dr. Villareal. Her staff seems to forget the patients pay their salaries and deserve respect. read more

After decades of being treated indifferently, like a product on an assembly line by harried staff and physicians, it was quite moving to be welcomed into Biltmore Eye Physicians as if I was a human being. I don't know if they lucked out getting so many lovely employees or if someone in that office sets the tone ... like the saying "As the head goes, so goes the body". From the first greeting by the front desk receptionists to the last stop at the check-out window, I was treated with kindness, warmth, and respect. Dr. Bethany Wong is in a class by herself. She has a gentle voice and a light touch. She explained everything with care, but not condescension. She listened to my concerns patiently without abruptness. I felt completely relaxed and safe. I had to blink back tears when I left. (Just goes to show how long it's been since I've been treated with any humanity.) These guys literally saved my left eye! Dr. Bullington did a lens replacement on my left eye when I developed a cataract that took my vision down to 20-1500. It is now 20-20. A year and a half later I managed to detach my retina, and Dr. Villarreal got me in for an exam at 10 o'clock at night on a Saturday! She then personally referred me to a retinal specialist, who I saw first thing on a Monday morning. I eventually had the surgery and ended up facedown for seven days as part of my recovery, but everything turned out alright and I still have close to 20-20 vision. Dr. Bullington and Dr. Villarreal treat my family, as well as myself. I cannot say enough good things about these people. I've read some of the other reviews they have received on yelp that are one and two stars, and I find them to be completely petty. Eyesight is a gift and a miracle, and the fact that these people can save your vision means that they should be cut a little bit of slack if their front office staff didn't immediately snap to attention and satisfy your every whim. I highly recommend these doctors if you genuinely value your vision! read more

I had a nasty little eye infection and because of the time of day getting any one to see me had me looking at waiting. That was until I found Dr Bullington. He took me in just before they closed their doors. He did not need to, but he did. He was very nice and gentle person with a lot of patience. This despite the time. I met the Doctors Bullington when they were just out of medical school opening their first practice together. I worked for an ophthalmologist friend of theirs. They were two of the nicest people I had ever met. I only wish I lived closer to their practice. I know so many people, family included, who are very satisfied patients at this office. I wanted to address Megan H's post to say that calling out an employee by name on Yelp is nothing short of bullying. Please do your research because a prescription for glasses is to correct a refractive error, not necessarily a medical condition. I am speaking up because a grossly inaccurate Yelp review by an unreasonable patient calling me out by name cost me my job. Excellent! I had a chronic weepy right eye after chemotherapy. I thought it was infected but found out that it was just blocked tear ducts that could be "treated" with hot compresses or hot water from the shower. Oh, they did have a machine for that but recommended that I try the inexpensive way first. Works like a charm! So polite, and caring. The staff is a little cooler than the doctors but I went to see the doctor, not the staff. These are eye doctors, not people fitting you with glasses, although they do write prescriptions for glasses. I found them by asking other physicians where they went for their eye exams. These guys are as good as I have found in Phoenix in the last 25 years. I saw Doctor Villareal. She was as kind and efficient as any doctor I have met. Dr's Bullington are supposedly better. That would be a real challenge. So you can't go wrong here. Yes, I am going back to them from now on. Please don't tell too many people. I have looked very long and hard for a trustworthy and accomplished eye doctor. Go see for yourself, then only tell your closest friends. Dr. Fintelmann is fantastic. He truly is an expert in the eye care industry. He showed genuine concern, was thorough with his examinations, explained various options and took time to answer my questions. You can tell he really cares about helping people. I've never really been a fan of going to the eye doctor but Dr. Fintelmann and the staff at Biltmore Eye Physicians make me feel welcome and cared for. Dr Fintelman was fabulous. I am giving this one star because of his front desk employee, Diana. I called because I was charged $245 at check out because they said I didn't have a medical diagnosis even though I was prescribed glasses which is a medical diagnosis. She continued to be rude and argue with me to the point that I had to speak with the Office Manager, Bonnie who was more than willing to have Billing look at my chart and issue. Diana needs some customer service training stat or this office will be going down hill. read more

Clearly Dr Bob and his outstanding staff do not need my review-- but since I rely on Yelp reviews myself, felt it may help others. When I needed an outstanding Ophthalmologist (since only the best would be acceptable for me) Dr Bob and his team; Bonnie, Monica, Diana, Stephanie and the entire office--- including the amazing Catherine, his understudy... they have all gone above and beyond the call of practice and service. When I first came to Dr Bob for a contact lens that was stick behind my eye.. Dr Bob, being gifted in listening & nurturing took a gentle approach and easily managed to remove it.. then he checked my eye pressure (both eyes) tested me for the correct eye glasses/contact lens prescription and addressed everything imaginable regarding my eyes--thoroughly, responsibly & generously--- all with the amazing Catherine as his assistant-- his lovely & intelligent daughter who was a clone of her gifted father, Dr Bob. What a blessing to have found this office & Dr Bob. Today Bonnie called me to follow up on leaving me a message yesterday stating the box of contacts I ordered where in.. following up..not many businesses bother with following up.. but Dr. Bob's office does---all with pleasure!!! Dr. Villarreal is a superb doctor who takes her time to truly examine and diagnose/treat her patients, which is quite rare in medicine these days. Not sure about the other reviews complaining about support staff and wait times, as my son was seen promptly and the whole office was very professional. Perhaps these were incidents that transpired secondary to the thoroughness of the diagnostic work up; this is something to applaud not criticize IMHO. Some cases are straightforward but others are more complex and you cannot always guarantee a quick 10 minute exam will cure what ails you. Although this can be frustrating, I'd prefer to have a physician take their time rather than churn through a list of patients to maximize profits and reduce wait times so they can get a better yelp review. It's your health not a cheeseburger. When it's your turn, you can be assured that your issue will be addressed properly. Dr. Villareal is a great doctor and we have been seeing her for years. I scheduled my daughter's yearly exam for the beginning of the summer so that she wouldn't need to miss school. School is starting and my daughter said she would like a new pair of glasses for school. However, when I called to receive a copy of her eyeglass prescription I was told my daughter didn't have an exam for glasses at her yearly exam- what?!?! We would need to make another appointment and pay an additional $60. Every single time you go in their office you wait for 2 hours. This would require her to miss school and for me to miss work. I can't say enough about the exceptional care I received from Dr. Bob and the staff at Biltmore Eye Associates. I had seen three different optometrists for an issue with blurred vision and none of them could figure out what was wrong. I paid for expensive retinal scans and other procedures for them to supposedly figure out what was causing the blurred vision but none of them could. I sought out an ophthalmologist on my own and lucked out and got an appointment with Dr. Bob who immediately recognized that the cataract was the issue - and something that all three optometrists should have easily been able to diagnose. He is very patient and doesn't rush. He takes a lot of time to discuss things in a way that patients can understand. Before my cataract surgery, I was supposed to start medication a few days before, but the pharmacy screwed up the prescription and then closed for a holiday weekend. Dr. Bob gives his cell number to patients having surgery and when I contacted him to ask what I should do without the meds, he met me at his office on a weekend to make sure I had samples of the medication I needed while we waited for the pharmacy to get things straightened out. Following my surgery, he called my cell to check On me, but I had turned off my ringer to sleep so he took the trouble to chase down my husband's cell phone number to call him to make sure I was Okay. I have never felt so taken care of by a physician. He truly embodies what you think a doctor should be in terms of caring for patients. read more

First, let me state that my poor experience was not with the doctor(s) but rather with the front office staff. I am relatively new in Phoenix so searched Yelp ratings for an ophthalmologist and called Biltmore because of the high ratings. One phone call turned me off. After holding for several minutes, the receptionist finally answered. I introduced myself and said I would be a new patient. The first thing that came out of her mouth, and not in a pleasant manner, was "What insurance do you have?" I answered, and she came back with "We don't take that insurance. You would be self-pay. Is that ok?" When I inquired which insurance they do take, I was informed that they only take Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare. I told her that I would look elsewhere (partially because of her attitude and tone of voice), a place that took my insurance. Doctors of Biltmore, you should educate yourselves and your office staff. First of all, my employer pays my insurance claims. The plan is only administered by the medical insurance company. Second, I have a plan that is wonderful enough to allow me to use out-of-network providers, and I don't need a referral to see any doctor I choose. You could have billed and they would have paid. I'm sure my employer is not stingy so it would not have been the usual contract rates for the medical plan administrator. Also, I would happily have paid the difference if you were not satisfied with what my plan paid, but none of this was offered. A potential patient you have lost because of front office staff with poor customer service skills and a lack of knowledge. read more

I chose Biltmore Eye because of the proximity to my home and that my insurance covered them. I went for an issue with corneal erosions in one eye and love that I was offered natural treatments like exercises, supplements, and using drops and ointments. I have worked with Dr. Fintelmann and Dr. Bob--both are incredibly caring and excellent at what they do. I would return weekly to check healing and my care plan was adjusted. Each time we would discuss possible surgical options but I decided to take the least invasive route first. The condition I have gives me great excruciating eye pain in the middle of the night and when I've called their office at 1am I got a call back right away and the doctor offered to meet me at the office in the middle of the night. It ended up that I ultimately needed surgery which I had done today. It wasn't because of anything the doctors did or didn't do. I was pretty scared for the procedure and post-op pain but Dr. Fintelmann explained everything before and as he went and put me at ease. He made sure my eye was still numb before I left and even called me this evening to see how I was doing. I was told I'd have pain for 24 hours and over the next few days but at 7 hours post-op I am already pain free. I can't say enough good things about the care I have received here. The front office staff, nurses, doctors, etc. have all been amazing and kind. I truly feel they have my best interests at heart and this is top-notch customer service and care. I am so grateful I found Biltmore Eye and even if I didn't live close by I would travel just to come here. read more
