I went to the Guadalupe office on 7/27/26 and was told they could not help with the situation, because it was not their problem. It belonged to their off-site billing section. I was told to contact corporate in Dallas by phone to resolve this matter. When I asked for a statement showing services provided, they said they do not have that information in their office. What? It is all in Dallas. The final notice came without my receiving any statement or billing or service information, either by mail or email. They added insult to injury when they sent an email wishing me Happy Birthday. So, no advance notice of any amount due, and no list of services provided prior to the late notice. I was told that everything is handled by corporate. What happened to the old medical practices where they were responsive to their patients? Is it all to the point of major corporations?

This is where I get my eye exams and buy my contacts so naturally, it's super convenient to be able to order eye glasses here as well. I don't see a separate page to review their Optician's, which is unfortunate because my experience there was horrible. I have bought several pairs of glasses over the years at this location. The last time was 2016, so yes, five years ago. The older gentleman who used to operate this store was kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Unfortunately, the current optician, Shelley Jewell, is just the opposite. First, their selection is underwhelming: not many frames to choose from. I picked two frames and then it was time for "the numbers." My prescription is so strong that my lens cost more than the frames. Shelley proceeded to give me a price that I thought was "kind of high" but then again, the lens always make the price higher. However, I then asked her to review ALL elements of this order: + High Index (thin lenses) vs Polycarbonate (thicker lenses) + Blue glare (if you're looking at computer screens) vs regular + Photochromatic or adaptive lens that get darker once you're outside in the sun + Progressive lens aka invisible bifocals (yes if you're 40+, that might be a thing) vs. regular lens There are four pricing tiers to choose from for thickness of lens, the lowest index aka thickest lens to the highest index aka thinnest lens. Once she explained the pricing, I realized Shelley had given me the pricing for the highest index lens. Super presumptuous. When I asked her to please itemize so that I could see the difference in pricing, Shelley made a face, as if she was totally put out. She then proceeded to inform me that the frame would "show" the thicker lens and it would be heavier. Not new information for someone who's been wearing glasses since I was a kid and now investing in them as an adult for 30+ years. Do you think I don't know that? She's trying to talk me out of the thicker lens because she doesn't want to do all the different cost breakdowns. Which is her job. And she wants me to spend more money. Which does not fit the price point I mentioned up front. Getting the middle grade lens was the best choice for me, given my budget, which I shared with her. I've had the "Cadillac" of lens, the highest index lens, before, when I could afford it. But that was not going to be this pair. She proceeded to calculate the different prices and write them down for me. I was going to ask her to do that for the second pair but a coworker came in and she got up from the table, to socialize with that person. IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR TRANSACTION. Are you kidding me? That nailed it. Done. Not spending my money here. As any good salesperson in ANY industry knows, none of this was good customer service/sales etiquette. incredibly short-sighted. Pun intended.

At my first appointment, Dr. Roden was so confident in my contact lens prescription that he told me he was going to order the contacts while I was still in the office. Unfortunately, he was wrong, and I had to come back for another fitting and a different prescription. After trying the trial contacts, I called to let the office know they worked well. It then took three days for someone to call me back to confirm. Three weeks later, I still hadn't heard anything about my order, so I called again. Once again, it took three days to get a response because the office rarely answers the phone. I was told that my contacts had simply been on backorder and that they should arrive the following week. When I finally received a message saying my contacts were ready, I left work during my lunch break to pick them up, only to be handed the exact same single pair of trial contacts I had already been wearing. I had been under the impression that my full supply had been ordered and was ready for pickup, especially since Dr. Roden himself told me that once I confirmed the trials worked, they would order my contacts. Whether this was a result of poor communication or outright incompetence, the experience was frustrating, time-consuming, and incredibly disappointing. Patients deserve accurate information, timely communication, and a staff that is organized enough to follow through on what they promise.

My vision started hitting a point where corrective lenses were just not working out for me. Blur with distance, blur with near sight, halos at night - I was getting increasingly frustrated. Finally I decided I had prolonged this long enough. It was time to take back my vision and own my life. I set up an appointment. The free consultation was amazing. They checked my eyes out. They asked what results I was looking for. They told me what I could and could not expect. As a guy in my 40s, they made sure I knew that I may need readers to see near objects. They made sure I knew that my results may not be amazing. I was told that this was an elective surgery and it may just be better to stick with contacts and glasses. They obviously did not just want my money, but wanted to make sure I knew what I was in for and prepared for the outcome. They wanted me to be informed and happy with my decision. It was truly outstanding service. I opted in. I was ready. Readers are fine. My vision was just a mess with contacts. The fear of the procedure tickled my stomach, but I knew I needed to do it. On the day of the procedure, rain was coming down. Not an omen, but it did hold up traffic and flights and the surgeon was delayed. No worries, the outcome would be the reward. I waited at the office. The staff was incredible and friendly. They even treated me to Starbuck's and snacks. They made sure I was comfortable and happy. The wait was honestly enjoyable. Not the typical clinic wait where you are in a room full of dread and dour faces. Finally, it was my time. I was taken into a room. All of the worry stopped. I had built this up into something horrible. I was worried about sneezing and blinking and making the machine mess up. There was none of that. You are comfortably 'anchored' in place. The doctor is confident and reassuring. He walks you through the whole process. He was gentle and awesome. You are on a bed with your eyelids held in place (not unpleasant, even though it sounds like it could be). The machine hovers above and you look into small aperture. There is a slight pressure as the process goes about it's business. It is not exactly pleasant, but it is brief and easy enough to withstand. You are guided to look at a green light while the surgery takes place. You do not see the lasers working on your eyes, just a green blur. You will smell an odor as the lasers do their work. The entire process lasted less than ten minutes, for both eyes, in my estimation. Once I was done, I was able to go out to my ride. Light sensitive, but they give you sunglasses. For the first time in thirty years, I could see unaided. I honestly felt a little choked up on the way home as I read the fine print of buildings and street signs. The literature they provide gives you a deep insight into the future. On the way home, as noted, my eyes were very heavy. I kept them closed for the duration of the ride. There was an unpleasant sensation that was familiar. When I wore contacts too long, there was a burning sensation and the muscles in the eyes flexed and watered trying to take care of business. This was the same sensation. It was not fun, but it was not overwhelming. As per the literature, I slept for four hours once I got home. The unpleasant burning was gone. My eyes were still light sensitive, but I was much better. Today is the day after. I feel great. I am keeping my eyes moist. There is no pain. There is a slight, and I mean very slight, irritation. I know I had the procedure, but it feels like an early morning without much sleep, it doesn't feel like I am recovering from an operation. In a couple of hours, I am going to drive across town for the follow up. Something I could not have fathomed, even a month ago. I am very happy with the results so far. I am very happy I chose this clinic to perform the procedure. I am very happy with the care provided and the smiling faces at this location. This is an amazing business. I feel like I was granted superpowers overnight. Don't put your life off any longer. Get a free consultation and own your vision again!

My father have AMD on both eyes. Dr. Shabari has been taking care of my father. Dr. Shabari is the most awesome Dr that I have ever meet. She is "very passionate" AND she is "full of compassion". You can tell from her gentle voice and her talk and her action. She is very approachable and personable. She explain very well. She went over the picture taken by heat staff. The staff are also very friendly. This is the best "clinic" that I ever met in Arizona. This clinic is specialized in Retina. and I believe they have 3 doctors. The one that I met is Dr. Shabari. She is an Indian decent and very smart. i feel comfortable to trust my father retina treatment to her and her clinic. The clinic is very clean and managed super well. There are NOT too much patients; People are treat as human with respect. The waiting time is not long. The parking at 16st is good, plenty of space. the restrooms are clean. The office looks very modern. Life is short, It is always best to have Dr that care about you. And you will 100 % get it from Dr. Shabari and her staff. I am Asian and we are very well educated and respectful person. With "PhD degree". We are "pro-live" and we "love Family". You can feel the family like environment with Dr. Shabari and Clinic. Dr. Shabari has the talent for that. NOT all Dr has it. Dr. Shabari has the Heart for her patient. Thanks for the existence of this clinic in our beautiful Arizona !

This review is based strictly on my two experiences bringing my elderly father to this office…read more Our previous visit was for a retina check and took 3 1/2 hours. I was there long enough to walk the parking lot and get 10,000 steps while I waited. I hoped that was an unusually bad day, but unfortunately today's experience was much of the same. Today, my dad had a 7:00 AM appointment--the first appointment of the day--for an injection in his eye. His eye was numbed shortly after we arrived, and then he was left sitting in the procedure room waiting. By 7:52, the doctor still had not performed the injection. He came in, administered additional numbing drops, said he would be back, and left again. My dad later told me that the injection was painful. I am not a doctor, so I can't say whether the long wait had anything to do with that, but as his daughter, of course it makes me question whether the original numbing medication was still adequately effective after sitting there for so long. During the wait, at least five medical assistants came in and out of his procedure room to access medication from a refrigerator. No knocking, just opening the door and coming in. I was also told I needed to put on a mask because this was a procedure room, yet the employees repeatedly entering the room were not wearing masks. If a refrigerator is accessed that frequently by staff, perhaps a patient's procedure room isn't the best place for it. What bothers me most, though, is the lack of consideration for elderly patients and the people responsible for getting them to these appointments. Many elderly patients can't simply drive themselves here, sit for several hours and drive themselves home. They depend on their children, spouses or caregivers for transportation. Those people have jobs, families and other responsibilities. Expecting a routine appointment to regularly take 2-3+ hours puts an unnecessary burden on both the patient and the person caring for them. I understand that doctors get behind. Emergencies happen. I don't expect a medical office to run perfectly on schedule every single day. But when our last appointment took 3 1/2 hours and today's 7:00 AM first appointment of the day involved this much waiting, it becomes difficult to view it as an occasional delay. It's also frustrating to read so many other reviews describing similar experiences. When the same concern is repeatedly mentioned by patients, you would hope the practice would recognize it and make an effort to improve. I'm not writing this because I expect special treatment. I simply believe elderly patients--and the family members who take responsibility for getting them to their medical care--deserve better consideration for their time, better communication while they're waiting, and a more organized experience.
