*4.5 Stars* The best bakery in a 15 mile radius HOWEVER not the best overall (Calandra's still takes the cake...no pun intended...rim shot...heyoooooo)... Anyway walking into this place you feel like you gained a couple of pounds just by the delicious smell wafting in the air. Oh how great the smell is. As a matter of fact you can smell it a block away...mmmmm. Anyway their selection is extensive. They have all the typical pastries along with tons of Italian favorites (delicious sfogliatelle, cannoli and so on). Their specialty is Philly Fluff which is basically an angel food cake but on steroids. Their cup cakes are magnificent! Large selection (my favorite is ALL OF THEM :-)). Their prices are a bit high BUT it's well worth the investment (not so much if you are on a diet). During the holidays (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas) forget about venturing here at the last minute or thinking you will be in or out. It's crazy busy and their parking is limited (although you can park on the st). But it's well worth the stop in for a tasty treat. You cannot go wrong on any thing in this place. ENJOY! read more

I can only make it through my birthday with the knowledge that it includes a cake from Natale's. I am in love with their buttercream, and order my cake like a 5 year-old.... all the flowers that can fit on the top!!! And mocha buttercream, yum!!! My family has been going here for many, many years now, and we are late to the Philly Fluff craze--- but it is delicious!! And the black and white Bundt cake is very good. The best carrot cake and Philly fluff ! My go to for all occasions where I need to bring a dessert

Fresh baked goods and friendly staff. Some of my favorites are the Philly Fluff Cake, almond croissants (bear paws) and carrot cupcakes.

Traditional Italian Bakery. Tried a bunch (cupcakes, biscotti, cannoli) but I'd come back just for the Sticky Buns. - chocolate coated cannoli- the ricotta filling was super smooth with bits of chocolate chips inside. -carrot cake cupcake- this tasted more like a banana cupcake with barely-there shreds of carrots. the only part i liked about this cupcake was the icing-not too sweet and light consistency. -hazelnut chocolate biscotti- stuffed with hazelnuts. I'd definitely get this again -chocolate dipped with walnuts and dried fruit-- smaller slivers of walnut, raisins, cranberries. the choc. didn't have added sugar which offset the sweetness of the dried fruit. both were soft and chewy(than crumbly). I usually go for hard biscotti's but didn't mind that they were soft, since they were chewy. -sticky bun (A+++!)- filled with raisins and topped with walnut pieces. Best sticky bun I've had thus far. Amazingly delicious. the bun was solid in size, stuffed with ample amounts of raisins, dotted with a hint of cinnamon, and slathered with a light layer of buttery brown sugar glaze. the bits of walnut on top provided a nice contrast to the sticky, soft texture of the bun. Hmm, not sure if we just happened upon a bad baker or not, but this was far from a great cake. First off, they botched the decoration for our 13 year old daughter's birthday cake. We asked for just eggplant colored flowers, something very basic, but they put lavender, pink and green flowers. It looked like a cake for her grandmother, not a 13 year old. But we all kinda laughed it off and thought, no problem, it's just the decoration and it's going to taste amazing. But, the cake itself was grainy, and had an oily flavor. It was moist, but that's about the only positive quality I can give it. On top of that, it had that carry over house taste, like something that was brought for a potluck, but you taste the house more than the food. Not sure if there's a phrase for this, but hopefully you know what I'm talking about. This place is known for their fudge frosting, and even among a group of 13 year olds, even they thought it was just okay. Very mediocre, more sugary than chocolately. All, in all, I wanted to really like this place, and we were happy to overlook the decorating mishap, but the flavor of the cake and the frosting was a major disappointment. Bummer. read more

Excellent bakery. Everything from breads to pastries to cakes is pretty spot-on. I love the checkerboard cake for my birthday and the mini pies (and sugar-free!). Service is pretty decent and even when there's a crowd the owners do a pretty good job of employing enough people so that the wait is never more than 10-15 minutes. They used to do frequent sampling on Sundays, but no more. Sadness. read more

Most definitely the best bakery in the area. Whenever I am home visiting and my mom asks me to run out and get a baguette or bread or breakfast pastries, I know this is the only place she will let me go. Even though it's a 15 minute drive. Considering the amount of Italian bakeries around the area, I think that says a lot. Definitely order in advance during the holidays though...this place is no secret to the locals. read more

The almond cookies, pignoli, cannoli and zeppoli's are so good ,you would expect everything to be good .I've only ventured out of that realm once , to get a coconut cream pie and shockingly, it wasn't very good( it seemed like it was made with cool whip).Stick with the first rate Italian cookies and pastries and you can't go wrong.What it does well , which I think is most things , it does very well. read more

I've never been disappointed with anything from Natale's. It's a traditional style bakery so don't expect the Hoboken-type fancy decorated cupcakes (that tend to look nicer than they taste) but do expect great quality goodies. Be warned though that on weekends, and especially holidays, this place packs up so parking and service can be difficult. Don't worry though, it's worth the hassle. read more

This bakery is truly top-notch. They create an excellent range of superb old fashioned style cakes, with a modern light touch, naturally rich flavor and true pride. I live in downtown Manhattan, am probably overly selective and love Bouley Bakery's modern classic french creations but at a third of the price and double the service quality, Natale's runs very very close. Consider the tiramisu cake, Jersey Devil (which is a light devil's food with fresh whipped creme), charming petits fours and seasonal cookies and pastries. What a find! read more

This place is one of the best bakeries I have ever been to. I got a bear claw, some delicious pastry cream filled coconut piece of heaven, two cake donuts (one cinnamon sugar, one glazed) and two petit fours. They were all very good, very fresh and done right. The donuts were light and crispy, the pastry cream heaven thingy was nothing but goodness and the bear claw was very almondy and flaky. The petit fours have a bit too much jam on the inside for me but maybe others like that. I also found that everything was a bit sweeter than I would prefer but again, others might like that. This is a bakery after all. Service was very nice and quick. The place looked clean My total bill was $9, which i thought was reasonable for quality products. I would go back again if in the area. Natale's never disappoints. I come here frequently and every time, their items are fresh and tasty. A family favorite is the California fruit tart. Their quiches, which they only have on Thursdays, are also delicious. The employees are friendly and helpful. Prices are lower than competitors. The only issue I've ever had is finding parking; sometimes it can be a little difficult, but I've never had to wait too long for a spot. Besides, their products more than make up for it! read more

Living in DC, away from my New Providence hometown, makes me appreciate all that is New Jersey that much more- and Natale's Bakery is ALL that is New Jersey. A traditional Italian bakery with a French influence, Natale's is always among the first stops when I go home and the place I take all my friends to when they come to visit. The Natale's family is amazing, and, having worked with them throughout high school and every Christmas season since (holy number of orders for Christmas Eve!), this place is like a second home- you know everyone, everyone knows you and the people have been coming there for years. Having sampled, basically, everything, there are some definite favorites I have come to develop including: (obviously) the philly fluff- if you haven't tried the one with chocolate ganache swirled in it, you're missing out; napoleon, with its fluffy and sweet custard filling; devil dog cake, a new addition, but super sweet and delich; and while they no longer make sourdough bread there anymore (a treat I SERIOUSLY miss), all of their breads are fantastic. My favorite breads have always been the Rustic loaf and the Irish Oatmeal bread. Yum yum yum. It has been noted that Natale's has been getting kind of pricey, but, honestly, for what you're getting, it's really not. These prices have nothing on those down here in the District. So, if you're coming down here, please bring me a Philly Fluff!!! read more

Hands down best and freshest bakery in the area. the bread, pastries and cakes are always wonderful. I have only 1 time gotten something that was not perfect, and when i told them about it they were happy to replace it for me. they do a great job with everything, and you can call ahead to make sure they have your order ready. Price wise they are a little on the high end, but it is worth it for the quality you get. if you have a party to go to, and want to bring something, this is the place to stop. you will never be embarrassed when you get there and the quality is not up to par. Underwhelming to say the least. Everything I had was bad. The French baguette had no taste and was hard as a rock the day after (good French baguette will stay fresh longer). The carrot cake had not spices, no oomph and was topped with too much frosting. The cheesecake was terrible; it didn't seem fresh at all and seems like something that had been sitting in the display cabinet for a while. I've been to Natale's many times with my family and have had their desserts many times at work. They are as close to a NYC Little Italy bakery as you can get in NJ. Clean establishment and very friendly family run business. Their cookies just make you want one, their cakes and tarts and scrumptious and the staff will always thank you for your patronage. We just moved here from California so we are used to have a bakeries/dessert shops all over the place. After moving to the area we realized there just aren't many bakeries around the area so we decided to try this one since it has the most reviews. It was packed so that was a good sign but beyond that, everything went down hill. We ordered a variety of cannolis to try. Everything was very sweet. I couldn't even finish one. My daughter left hers half finished as well. I guess We will have to continue our search for bakeries within a 10 mile radius that is more refined and less of a sugar bomb. read more

This is by far the best bakery in NJ. All the cakes they have are just perfect! Good proportion of bread and cream. I would always get cakes from this place for all the events. I bought their vanilla base strawberry cake for my sisters baby shower and it was a hit! Everyone loved it:) I also bought a chocolate mousse cake for my friend's birthday and that is also very good. This place is excellent. The best bakery in area and one of best in NJ. Staff is very nice. I am willing to drive the extra 15 mins to buy from here although there are other bakeries closer. I have been going here for cakes and baked goods for over 10 years. The checkerboard cake is a family favorite. Also really love the crueler donuts and oatmeal apple tarts.
