We had a wonderful time at Napa Cafe. The atmosphere is super intimate and inviting. Our service was great. The staff was super helpful and organized. You can tell that they are a team that communicates and loves to provide a great experience for guest. They have several areas. We had a large group, so we were in the room that had the perfect amount of space for us to comfortably enjoy ourselves. The food! Amazing! I had the Sea Bass. I've never really eaten it and now I am fully converted, lol! It is topped with soy ginger butter, soy ginger vinaigrette. It's laid on a bed of black forbidden rice; however, I chose the mashed potatoes, and they were delicious. The sautéed spinach also added more flavor to this dish. Nex time, I am going to get the smoked gouda risotto. I tried a friend's that got it that way, and it was amazing. Great dining experience. I am so glad that they are on the Memphis food scene.

"Jan's Room". We liked the wine list!

We sat in a cute, private room that was lit up with lights! We enjoyed that room's ambience. Regarding our service: excellent! Regarding our meal: my husband loved the meatloaf and said it was "different" but very good. My starter was the mushroom soup (delish!) and for my entree I chose the crab-cakes. Our waitress assured me they were LUMP crab; however, I beg to differ. The consistency was more of a shredded crab. They were good, but not great. I loved the sauce under the cakes. The aspargus was hard; the spinach should have had the stems removed. I ordered the coconut cake for dessert, and I loved it! Jan was our waitress and has been there for 27 years. Bravo, Jan!

We loved Napa Café! The food is inventive, and tasty. The cocktails are solid. The service is great. Their outdoor patio is pretty and I'd like to eat out there when the weather is fairer. Inside is warm, dim, and cozy. I found the sauce on the shrimp dumplings to be too salty, but my lady loved it. The beet salad is tasty and included flavor combinations I haven't tried before. Their complimentary rosemary bread is delicious. The sauces on the main courses were fantastic. The service was generally great. There were a couple times where I felt like I was waiting too long, but that pacing was good overall. The staff also did a great job calming some belligerent guests at another table. Our total was $235 for two people. I think some other local competitors offer better value at this price point, but my girlfriend has informed me we will be going back. Hi! This is the girlfriendThe drinks we got were amazing! I had the pecan old fashioned & he had the last word. I am very much a caesar salad girl but I had the spinach salad & it was delicious. Thank you

Was there for a just drink with wife. 2 drinks came to 40.00 - tax was 9.90 so that came out to be 25% of bill. ??? Asked and they said the extra tax was an ABC rule... anyone else seen this?

We were seated on the left side, where half the seating was like a booth and the other side having chairs. The menu, physically, is large but short and simple. They also had a wine and cocktail list. The only thing that did bother me a little was that our table was already small, and we had 4 menus (two main, wine list, cocktail menu) across a small table. Our server greeted us, and listed the night's specials. He was very friendly, and had a very good attitude start to finish despite how busy it was getting. He was honest about the things he liked on the menu, and didn't give the wearing a wire answer. We decided to get the Thai steak as an appetizer. I didn't expect it to be so small. It was a little chewy, but it had a nice flavor. My babe got some soup, and then I got a wedge salad. The soup was fine and the salad was really good. We browsed the menu and we both decided on the Halibut. It was delicious! The top had a nice crust, the Halibut was tender, the asparagus cooked perfectly, and the beurre blanc was a great touch. I like that Napa Café seems to have a great team dynamic. They did well helping each other rotate and tend to tables. There was never a moment where you were left waiting or wondering about anything you needed. We also got dessert. Babe got the Belgian chocolate paté, and I got the sweet buttermilk pie. The pie was...ok. The texture reminded me more of cheesecake than pie. I liked his dessert better. Napa Café is pricey, but I consider pricing to portion size decent. The only one I had a hangup with was the Thai steak. Although it was tasty, I was disappointed at how small the portion was. Prepare to spend about $20-35+, but a lot depends on what your want. I'll give this one a rating: warm and cozy. The staff was friendly, and overall the food was fine. It makes for a nice dinner and movie date, as the Paradiso is one parking lot away.

Always on point with quality and consistency! The wine selection is always great and the staff is very knowledgeable on food pairings.

Super excited about Napa cafe!! First impression as I was through the door, oh this is nice!!! After we were seated is when it went down hill. Our server was incompetent about the menu/beer list. She didn't sound like she knew much. She had to go ask other people to get the answers. Which isn't entirely the problem. She was prob new. Whatever. We ordered: Thai steak appetizer, not too bad. Meat super tender. Crab cake dip- my gosh the bread was hard as rock. The crab cake dip it's self was so fishy. Never have I ever had such a fishy crab cake dip ever. So that was a disappointment Our entrees came out, Short ribs was super dry. Not worth the calories. Shrimps and grits. felt super heavy. Which grits shouldn't be. It tasted like they put a whole stick of butter in it. Another disappointment Filet mignon was meh. Had better else where. Lastly, my pork chop that was served to me still red on the inside. Which is unacceptable. Their excuse was oh the chef messed up a pork chop before so he was super cautious about yours. Umm hello, do we not have a meat thermometer??? Shouldn't all chef know what the temperature in all meats? Especially on the menu?? Anyways, I lost my appetite after that. They took my pork chop back and I guess cook it a bit more. Yet it still came out pink as well. At this point I have given up on this restaurant. I absolutely do not recommend. Will not return . I don't understand where all these 5 stars come from? Oh it's pretty sad that out of everything we had, the bread taste the best.

Wow wow wow! We are staying at the hotel across the street and looking for a place for dinner. I called up and was able to get a table for 12 for dinner. The Yelp reviews were good so we gave it a go. This was one of the best meals all of us have had in a long while. The cocktails, appetizers, meals, and dessert were all amazing!!! The staff were all amazing, sweet and full of the southern hospitality you would think! Do not hesitate to eat here!!

Napa Cafe was my very first Yelp review and so it only makes sense for me to make it my first review of 2022 after a fantastic visit on New Years Eve! I booked the NYE pre-selected menu on Open Table. It was quick and easy just as it should be. It was a flat fee menu with all taxes and gratuities included. I was able to book the exact time that I wanted. I was completely happy with the whole process. We arrived and were seated immediately at a nice table in the dining room. Our server, Jan was an absolute joy to be around. My wife ordered a Greyhound to drink and they were out of grapefruit juice. Jan came out and recommended a French 75. Neither my wife or myself had any idea what it was but Charity agreed to it because Jan was so convincing in her sell of it. She assured my wife she would love it, and she did! She even had a second one! I had a boring beer.... Ha For the appetizers we had Tomato Basil soup and the Baked Crab Dip. The crab dip was good, not overly decadent but really tasty. I liked the crostini that it was served with but not as much as I liked that bad ass foccocia bread that Jan served us. The soup was completely off the chain good! I'm not even that big of a fan of tomato soup and hate dill most of the time but this was something very special. LOVED IT!!! For our entrees I had the Scallops and the wifey got the Filet. The scallops came with a little onion salad and something called "black forbidden rice". I'm not sure what that rice is, never seen it before, but it was so tasty. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the sauce was rich and full of flavor. It said it was a curry but I'm still not sure I didn't taste peanut butter. Filet was fantastic! Lobster Mac & Cheese was unreal. Who even knew that was a thing??? LOBSTER MAC?!?!? It was all so very good! Dessert time and we are really about to burst inside. We managed to get most of the banana foster thinger down but the pie was just too much. You could feel the decadence rolling on your tongue. It sounds gross in hindsight but you can totally taste all of the fat that's in it when you take a bite. The buttermilk in the pie was cooked down perfectly and so damn rich y'all. I just can't.... Ugh. So good. All in all, this was an absolute fantastic way to end the shit show of a year that 2021 was. Bring on 2022 if this is how it will be! I love you Glenda! ... and your little restaurant too!!! I'll get back there my little pretty! Hello 2022!!!!!!!!!! I'm ready for you! Let's do this On a side note.... Ask for Jan, she is a badass!

I made a reservation to celebrate my birthday with the girls. I put "birthday" in the occasion section of the reservation I get a call asking whose birthday it was. I tell the young lady MINE. I'm thinking oh, they'll give me dessert with my name written on the plate. We walk in and the young lady ask which one of us were the "Birthday Girl". I say that's ME... She hugs me and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY! She left to go check on our "table" but walked toward the back. I exclaimed, "We've never been seated back there before" as we have been several times before. When I tell yall to MY surprise I was treated to PRIVATE DINING in JAN'S ROOM. Napa Café showed OWT! They printed a menu especially for me with the words "Happy Birthday Tabitha Jones" scrolled across the top. Ms Jan was our server and was fun, FUNNY and reminded ME to loosen up because it was my BIRTHDAY. (I felt like SHE should have been apart of the party) Glenda came out to wish me a Happy Birthday. She took my menu to roll and tied a ribbon around it for me to take as a keepsake. For dessert I got the Praline Pecan Pie! It was ABSOLUTELY deeeeeelicious The food was also delicious & drinks were so on point. Napa Café has NO idea how indecisive and BLAH I felt about even celebrating my birthday. Ya'll were TRULY the icy on the cake! I can't say THANK YOU enough! GLENDA! Ya'll made my night!

I do believe C and I have only been here once as a couple. It did not go well at all, so we have not been back together, as she is holding a bit of a grudge. It's a long story but it all ties back to service. That night we had the worst table in the building and service was spotty at best. Food was still pretty good, just whole ass annoyed by the entirety of the rest of the experience. I am lucky enough to be able to be taken to/host dinner with clients and manufacturers a good bit. They like places like this so I get by ever so often. Gotta love expensed meals!!! Tehehe I like the open kitchen concept they have and the bar is really cool. The metal shelves at the bar that store the booze are bad ass. It's warm and cozy and has a great vibe overall. The last time we sat on the enclosed patio. I had not sat out there before. I think the larger tables all go out there. We had seven and there was another group of about twenty in the same room with us. Food ranges from fairly good to fucking great. I've never had anything bad here, but a few sighs have been had, mostly by misunderstood expectations of what I was getting I would say. So, quite possibly I am the problem. As with most of my problems, actually... The oysters Rockefeller are very different from the norm. Fried oysters on a side of spinach. That's what it seems like. I ate it up, don't get me wrong. I did just switch to only fried oysters after the first one. No need wasting stomach space on spinach. Charbroiled oysters is always a good move and the preparation remains traditional on that one. I do find the oysters to be quite massive and hard to chew the whole thing at once. Cutting them just seems silly though. Steaks are prepared very well and to your liking each time. I have never had a bad one. Good flavor too. I am going to spring on the Hawaiian Ribeye the next time I go on my dime. It's a classic that I remember from Steak and Ale as well as Houston's. Both now gone from Memphis. I like the she crab soup an awful lot, and just about every entree I have had here is killer. You really cannot go wrong with the food. Just order something you normally like and boom. I will also say this. The short ribs I had last time were some of the best I have ever had. Bravo on that! Additionally, I had two giant pieces for like $40! I could only eat one of them after all of the appetizers. Oh.... Yea. They have a hot lobster roll that is good! You don't see that in Memphis very often!! Get you some. Wait.... Lamb Lollipops. They have evolved some of the years but they have really good lamb chops. They used to be the exact same dish as their sister concepts of Itta Bena, BB Kings, and Lafayette's. I am not sure if the whole family still has the old version or not. Here it has changed a good bit. As I write this, I crave it.... Ugh. Damn your foods and your seductive prowess food skills! Lastly, Tommy Peters did great things for this city's food scene. I am sad that he is gone but I know he was proud of this one! Ok. That's enough, Adam.... No one reads this crap anyway. '26 - 48
