I had lunch with friends Tuesday. The restaurant was not very crowded. The inside is very fancy and gorgeously designed. We were seated near the back in a semi private area. It was very nice and quiet. Perfect for our group. Devon started us off with this delicious puff pastry bread with garlic butter. It was delicious. I ordered the salmon with risotto. It was seasoned and cooked well. The mushrooms and risotto complimented the fish entree. My friends enjoyed their entrees as well. Some ordered the shrimp, burger and tacos. We were charged an 18% service charge. Not a huge deal, but we received significantly less quality service than we would for a restaurant we would leave a 20% tip anyways. We watched our server for 25 minutes trying to get our check and to go boxes. The food was not cooked correctly. I order a hamburger medium rare and it was cooked to death. We were so disappointed. I made it to the newest restaurant in East Memphis, Fuego Vivo! A friend of mine hosted her birthday dinner there and it was the perfect place to have it! I started off the evening with a very beautiful cocktail, "French Berries," which was made with Hennessy Cognac. While sipping on this beauty, I enjoyed the gorgeous ambiance of the restaurant: the beautiful lighting and the warm decor. Raven was our server for the night and she was very patient with us. For my entree, I decided to build my own pasta, which was penne noodles tossed in truffle sauce, along with steak, spinach and bacon. I hardly tasted any steak, but it was delicious! This place has been on my list since it opened. I finally got a chance to check it out for lunch. I looked over the menu before I arrived and wanted the Wagyu Burger as soon as I saw it. I had an incredible waiter, he answered questions and told me about his favorite items. The restaurant is beautiful, open and modern, you feel as if you're out of town for a while. I especially enjoyed the open kitchen and the alfresco dining area. My food arrived fresh and hot! I did ask for my burger to be cooked medium well but I read the menu so fast I didn't realize it was 2 patties so I should've asked for it to be cooked under. Nonetheless it was juicy and delicious! The only thing that could have made it better would have been the option to have Duck Fat Fries or Truffle Fries! I got the Berries and Lychee Mocktail since I still had things to do and was good. Unfortunaely, it was expensive and the serving sizes were small enough neither of us had leftovers. I did like the vibe and loved the purse stands at every table. But for us the place was very forgettable. The food was a little strange to us. Hubby's bone marrow tacos came with the actual bone. Look, I just thought it was like in the sauce or something. Neither of us really expected that. He liked the tacos well enough without it. We had a celebratory dinner at Feugo Vivo last night. It was absolutely wonderful. The menu's focus on Central and South American cuisine allowed us to sample new presentations of old favorites along with totally "new to us" dishes. We shared 3 starters amongst 5 of us. Presentations were excellent and each dish was well prepared! For entrees we had Mahi mahi,, salmon, table-side pasta, and the Josper ribeye steak. All were beautifully presented and delicious. Really good experience here Sunday. Our bookclub dined in for this month's book meet up. Reservation was easy to secure. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated. It was fairly empty at the time which allowed me to really take in the decor. I love the design. The space is pretty open and didnt feel congested. The brunch menu is pretty straight forward. It is a huge restaurant, multiple sitting areas. My waiter Christian was amazing, he answered any questions I had. He explained each menu item and told me what was the customers favorite. I ordered the crispy cream corn tempura for starters, it tasted like friend okra and chicken. Well seasoned, the shredded cheese gave it an extra kick of flavor. I decided to try brunch at Fuego Vivo. Although we had reservations for our small party of 4, the restaurant was quiet and there were plenty of tables available around 1pm. As usual, I was in the mood for an old fashioned and was served a smoked old fashioned which was great: I ordered the breakfast tacos with rotisserie chicken & they were pretty good. They probably could have used a little more chicken, but they were still pretty tasty. I captured photos of other meals served and everything looked delicious. Came here as a last minute decision for our anniversary and had a decent time. There was no wait for a table so got seated immediately. My husband got an Old Fashioned and I got a Whiskey Sour (our go to drinks when we can't decide on cocktails). For food he got the "table side" Chicken Alfredo. It was good but there was nothing table side about it like I've experienced on the west coast so don't get your hopes up on that. It was still a good meal though. I got the wagyu filet with bacon Mac and cheese. The filet was wonderful but the Mac and cheese was dry and wayyyy too much bacon. My experience was different compared to what I read before going. I believe other guests dined in right after their opening and experienced a less favorable experience. Our experience was amazing we dined in on a Sunday afternoon, there is plenty of seating options. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very open space between you and other tables. We are big foodies and always appreciate unique restaurants when we visit other cities, but Memphis doesn't always seem to appreciate unique culinary flavors and experiences. That's why I didn't put too much weight into some of the unfortunate previous negative reviews. I got a smoky Old Fashioned, and it was perfect. We ordered the burger, ribeye, bone marrow tacos, and salmon, and everything was cooked perfectly with presentation that was on point. All desserts are made by their own pastry chef and were delicious. Truly flavors you won't find anywhere else in town. We will definitely be back!! Memphis needs to support places like this if we want to keep unique, high-quality restaurants in our city. This restaurant is going to undermine its own reputation if it doesn't raise the quality of the dining experience to match the rigidity of its dress code enforcement. It's 2026, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with having a dress code. The problem is the apparent inconsistency in how it's applied. Men wearing tailored chino shorts paired with elevated attire are apparently considered out of dress code and restricted to the bar or high-top seating, while other men wearing baseball caps and sweatpants, as well as women in crop tops and very short shorts, are permitted to dine without issue. That's not a clear or consistently enforced standard--it feels arbitrary. When a dress code is enforced inconsistently, it creates the perception that subjective discretion, rather than objective guidelines, determines who is and isn't considered appropriately dressed. That inconsistency opens the door to concerns about prejudice and discriminatory application, whether intentional or not. If you're going to have a dress code, it should be clearly written, applied equally to everyone, and enforced consistently. It's also worth remembering that this is Memphis, where summer temperatures regularly exceed 100 degrees. If tailored chino shorts paired with an elevated outfit are truly unacceptable, the policy should explicitly say so and be enforced uniformly across all guests. Unfortunately, the dress code isn't the biggest issue. The persistent flies in the dining area have yet to be addressed, and the food quality leaves much to be desired for a restaurant marketing itself as a fine dining experience--especially one that automatically adds an 18% gratuity. The energy spent policing attire would be better directed toward improving cleanliness, consistency, and the overall dining experience. Those are the things that keep people coming back. read more

I ordered the rotisserie chicken which is obviously smoked and it was very dry and no where near as juicy or flavorful as it was advertised. The corn appetizer is a unique dish a tad greasy. My cocktail was good and fruity. Most food was described as okay by the rest of our party, clearly we all had super high expectations. My friend brought in a cake for her birthday and was charged $35 to self serve and eat it inside, she was told she could take photos with it at no charge, none of this information was given to her when she reserved a table for 10 people, our server wasn't aware either and had to verify, which is unacceptable and unfortunate. I wanted to love it. I really did, but alas I found the food to be subpar and the service surprisingly not any better. I ordered the salmon, the waiter recommended medium rare which I prefer and accepted the recommendation. My husband ordered the Alfredo which according to the menu was finished table side and my son ordered the waygu burger. The salmon was over cooked and just "ok". No significant seasoning other than a tad salty. The Alfredo came out after the rest of our food and was not done table side. My husband added chicken and it was incredibly over cooked. My son's burger was a soggy and sloppy mess. The only good thing I can say is that the apps were decent albeit small for the price. Once our food was delivered we only saw our waiter one time and by then all of our glasses were empty. The place is beautiful but lacks in every other way. I noticed the dress code was published on a sign out front but was not being enforced at all. Why have it if you don't enforce it? Sadly we won't be back, we gave the place sometime before we tried it knowing that often there are kinks in new restaurants but this was ample time to have those gone. I will give 3 stars for effort. First, let me say; the decor and vibes here are magnificent! It was very cozy and gave me a very welcoming vibe when my husband and I first walked in. The drinks were fabulous as well. Now let's get down to why I'm only giving 3 stars. We got the campero experience for our apps, the presentation was set up and prepared really nicely. However, there was no flavor. Moving on to our entrees, my husband and I shared the carnivore experience. Again, presentation was nice however, we asked for our steaks to be medium rare. They came out in these charcoal grills and while it was being bought to the table, the steaks are still actively being cooked. By the time we finished one steak and moved on to the next, the steaks were fully cooked to almost well done. And not to mention, the experience was supposed to come with truffles sauce and our choice of sides. We didn't get neither.
