Pretty place, but that's about it. I've never had ALL my nails chip from an SNS manicure (starting after 2 days) - my nails usually look great for 2-3 weeks! When I went back to have the 1st 4 nails fixed, they couldn't have been less helpful. The tech was confused, sloppy, and had to drill my polish off TWICE. Then I basically had to beg them to put an extra top coat on to strengthen them. I was there an hour and guess what: 3 more nails have already chipped again. Amateur hour. For $60 plus tip? I was walking by this place and I had a little time to kill so I decided to pop in to get a manicure and a pedicure. I thought the place was very clean. They took really great care of me and give me a great hand and foot massage after the manicure and the pedicure was done. I think the prices are insane. **One Star - DO NOT GO TO NAILS ON 5TH!** I never leave reviews, but after what I experienced at Nails on 5th, I feel compelled to warn others. I went in for a basic manicure and left with an infected finger, a painful condition, and a terrible experience trying to get any sort of resolution. First off, the technician *cut my cuticles* *way* too aggressively, and not only did they cut my skin, but they also filed my nail down *to the skin*. After that, they tried to cover it up with a thick layer of gel polish, which I now know only made things worse. To make matters worse, they used a *dirty* cuticle cutter, which I later realized was the source of the bacteria that caused the infection. The next morning, I woke up with my finger *so swollen* and sore, and it only got worse from there. I ended up having to go to the doctor, and was diagnosed with **paronychia**, a painful infection caused by bacteria entering through cuts around the nail. I had to go back to the doctor a SECOND time to have the infection drained because it got so bad. I immediately contacted the salon and spoke to Tom, who was absolutely no help. He kept saying "Brian is out," and after a long wait, Brian finally called me back. Let me just say--*he was incredibly rude*. I explained what my doctor had said, and he hung up on me in the middle of the conversation. No apology, no empathy, nothing. This is absolutely unacceptable. After looking through all the other negative reviews, it's clear that this isn't an isolated incident--others have had similar problems with infections and poor hygiene practices. I will be posting daily or weekly reviews if I have to, because a place that causes harm to customers like this does NOT deserve to be in business. **Please save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all costs.** If you want a safe and professional manicure, go literally anywhere else. read more

they do not have quality staff here. walked out before she could start the gel. i was sweating from how anxious and uncomfortable i was watching this woman try to file and shape my nails. it was painful. she injured a cuticle. she could not shape the nails at all and was filing so aggressively and haphazardly i thought she would break my nail. i'm not sure how this woman is licensed to do nails. from the other reviews clearly they do have a few good people but don't just walk in and expect good quality service. terrible experience. i'll never go back. read more

I had a great experience here! I was pleasantly surprised given some of the reviews- i would give this place a try! The location is convenient and they do have parking! Walking in the salon is new and clean. The staff was really friendly and I appreciated the conversation - i didnt catch his name but one of the manicurists was really funny. They do have beverages complimentary with your service, and they were efficient. I get annoyed sometimes when salons take hours to do a mani/pedi service- but this place was good. You weren't rushed, they did good work, but also were cognizant of your time. My nails also turned out nice! Very unsanitary, and no sanitized tools for pedicure. Everything was just in the cart, no sight of even alcohol to clean. I am worried I will get an infection. Lady was very nice but she could not see what she was doing. Male employee said that she "doesn't understand" that does not excuse her from cutting my nails to the skin. Will not be returning! Took my 11 year old daughter here to get some special gel nails. She had found photos online of the type of nails she wanted. We showed the photos to the nice staff. They came up with plan and made it happen. Everyone was very nice. The man was super sweet to my daughter and took his time. He even let her change her mind on a couple of nails and reworked them. Who knew that a deluxe manicure came with a neck and upper back massage?! I sure didn't and it was a pleasant surprise. I had a foot injury so I skipped the pedicure my friends were getting and opted for a mani. I picked my gel nail color and was seated quickly. Tina was my nail tech. She was so nice and did a really great job! My gel nails lasted a couple weeks and if I'm ever in that area again, I'll definitely go back to her. read more

If I could give them a 0 I would. The worst manicure of life. As an East coast girl I expect good service wherever I go. Their nail polishes are old and stale. They have to add thinner for them to actually paint. I asked the bald headed owner if he had new ones he said "no, whatever is there". I sat down with this old man he said his name was John I know he's lying claims he lived in New york in Long Island. He messed up my cuticles after complimenting them. Butchered my cuticles literally: Then a lady came over very nice and attempted to fix them but couldn't. He also didn't use a UV topcoat on a dip manicure which I thought was weird but he kept telling me it was better but I left with sticky nails??? Normally that wouldn't elicit a review- but, he literally YELLED at me when I (politely) asked him to adjust my designs to make them straight lines. Nails on 5th pampered me for 3 hours! They were able to fit me in easily after I had much trouble finding an appointment when calling other local nail salons. I opted for a 5th Pedicure which included all the standard pedi services plus paraffin treatment, mask and hot rock massage. The gentleman who helped me was very kind and thorough. I was offered a drink and chose to enjoy some white wine throughout my service, then a refreshing cold water. After my pedicure I received a standard manicure with gel in the color I wanted. The same gentleman who provided my pedicure did my manicure with great attention detail, nice shaping and made sure the light colored polish looked solid. I went to Nails on 5th for a dip manicure on a Sunday afternoon. The salon was busy and it was clear my manicurist was trying to rush through my manicure. He was very rough, made my cuticles bleed and did not get the dip all of the way up to my cuticles (similar to other 1 star reviews). When I told him this, he proceeded to cut the nails off but refused to remove the polish. He then went on to say "you people always want something for free" when in actuality I wanted the service I was paying for (and my nails to look good on vacation). I said this to him and he told me to shut up. When I asked him who he was talking to he said he was talking to me. After I paid for my pedicure he kicked me out of the salon, leaving my hands mangled and forcing me to go to another nail salon later that day. His commentary throughout about how "I wanted something for free" and "he knew I was going to be trouble when he looked at me" was rooted in anti-blackness and racism and when I asked to speak to a manager about the issue while in tears he told me he was the manager. I have never been treated with such indignity in my life and if you choose to support this nail salon you choose to support a racist business (and get a bad manicure to boot). read more

So, the place is nice, staff is nice, but holy cow...my nails SUCK. I got dip powder/SNS. First, I knew they were going to suck cause I legit had to tell the nail tech to buff them out before putting the top coat on cause they were bumpy as hell. My go to salon. Everytime I come here solo for a pedicure I have a great experience - full leg massage, great nails, and good service.
