If I could give 0 stars I would. What an awful experience I had. The location is convenient, they take walk-ins and have a nice set up but the people and service left me disappointed. Nails- I went in for a pedicure and gel manicure, the pedicure felt like torture, not relaxing at all and she treated my nails with no care. Didn't cut them down, and the filing process was just painful? The manicure was even worse, he kept filing my finger tips instead of the nails and left me with a few cuts and burns. When I said something and was in clear pain they brushed it off and didn't even apologize Service- worst part, the guy doing my nails was making clear racist comments at me and making me very uncomfortable. He asked where I was "from" and proceeded to say no when I said Chicago and probed me to reply. When I said I'm from Pakistan he asked me why I'm not "covered" and if I know "Bin Laden".... Not sure if this is a joke or he doesn't realize how offensive it is. But I expect more from the Austin area. Honestly, I will never go here again even though it's the closest nail salon to me in the area; the racism was not okay and they messed up my nails. Save your money, just drive out somewhere nice, not worth it! read more

5/5. Amazing pedicure specifically because they actually massaged my legs instead of just lightly touching them. Definitely on the pricier side for nail salons but worth the splurge. Great environment and massage chairs with USB chargers. While I got my toes done someone came over to start my nails. I'm quite picky with my nails coming from NY where getting your nails done is an everyday type thing. The shaping and adjustments made for a picky customer like myself were great. Brian took his time and shaped/placed acrylic perfectly even on my (as requested) short nails. 4.5 on the painting Bc the design I brought in was super tough but loved it overall. I'm not really sure what all the bad reviews are about... I really didn't have that experience at all - I got a perfectly acceptable manicure / pedicure in a perfectly reasonable amount of time. Room is very nice- the staff was very courteous and the location couldn't be better... it was not too expensive and I was able to call and come in in about 15 minutes... Overall I would recommend. Tom at Nails on 5th did an excellent job with my pedicure. He made me feel comfortable, addressed my concerns (e.g., I'm diabetic and he was very careful), and was very pleasant. Nice folks that run the place but nice folks don't always mean a 5-star experience. I've been a couple times out of convenience and it's expensive and I never leave satisfied. I got a gel mani last time and it was pretty sloppy. It also didn't even last a week, which is a shame given the time and money I spent on it. I think I've learned my lesson that it's worth going the extra mile (literally) to the place that does care about the end product as much as they do being friendly. read more

Visited during sxsw and wasn't disappointed like the other reviews. Perhaps they took the feedback because my experience was great! I did a walk in, showed them a picture of what I wanted and the guy did it fast and efficiently. I was worried going too fast was going to result in lack of detail, but he knew what he was doing without errors. Trust the bad reviews. I live in the apartment building above Nails on 5th and was really excited about it opening. I've been here 3-4 times now thinking that maybe it'll be better each time, especially since it stays busy but yesterday was the last time I will ever step into this place. I went for a gel mani, basic pedi and also decided to get my eyebrows and upper lip waxed while I was there since I was leaving for a trip and didn't have time to go to my usual threading place. The pedicure - this was the most rushed and useless pedicure I've ever gotten. I think I was done with my entire pedicure in 15 mins, if not less. She did not cut my cuticles and barely filed my nails, despite asking her to do so twice. My heels are just as dry and rough as they were when I went in. She massaged my legs for a bit so I guess I'll give her that... Gel manicure - again, rushed. When I go to a nail salon, I want a relaxing experience. This was far from it and was pretty stressful. I asked for the guy doing my nails to cut my nails down short. Now I've been getting my nails done for the last 20 years, every 2-3 weeks. So you can do the math on how many times I've gotten a manicures and I always say the same thing - cut them short because I don't like long nails. This guy cut my nails down SO much that the skin from under my nails is currently exposed. It is so raw and painful. I also wanted square shape. They're all a very round. I have to be so careful with how I use my fingers because it feels so uncomfortable around my nails. When someone says short nails, you're supposed to cut them to the fingertip. Not beyond. And to add a cherry on top, he did a sloppy job on painting the nails too. I'm so mad about this because I have a bunch of trips and plans coming up in the next few weeks with the holidays around the corner and it I will take me a while to regrow my nails enough to fix the disastrous shape. Waxing - I usually thread so this was probably my fault for even getting it done. Again, the sloppiest job ever. There was so much hair left on both my eyebrow and upper lip that I literally told her just forget it after she did 1-2 strips on each one. I came home and had to tweeze and thread my eyebrows and upper lip myself. Overall, worst $100 I ever spent. I wish I could get my money back so I could go elsewhere to get all the same services again in a couple weeks because this was an absolute waste of money. You truly might as well throw $100 in the garbage. read more

DO NOT COME HERE. CHEAP POLISH. DAMAGES NAILS. Two times now I have come here and their regular polish is near impossible to remove from my nails. It is almost as if it is made of super glue or something. They then will try to charge extra for removal of getting another service or if you just go in to get it taken off they will not. read more

I have tried this place 5 or 6 times now because I want to like them. They're in a fabulous location and beautifully decorated. But every time I go I am severely disappointed. This last time was the worst. I had to ask the lady to buff my calluses on my feet. Then I had to remind both her and the guy doing my nails bro cut my cuticles. They both forgot. ade a 2.30 appt against my better judgement with somewhere to be at 4.30 close by - never have I made an appt here that was actually honored or even pretended to be valid [they don't care; walk in or not, people are taken in the order they come in - I've called once to make an appt and literally didn't even ask my name] My friend is sat before me, has her nails done, and by the time she's on the last coat I am finally seen at 3.15pm and not allowed to sit next to her. THIS IS 45 MIN PAST MY APPT. the moment I sat down I had shown what I had wanted (see image below) and then proceeded to sit for another twenty min to have my current (gel) color removed. By the time I had to leave my nails looked TERRIBLE (see below) - sides are covered and cracked, uneven, and the top coat is not flat at all from the rush job. I sat for two hours, with an appt, and have never been so dissatisfied with a half job that still isn't even good. Will never be back. read more

look I'm not usually one to leave a negative review because a lot of things in this life are subjective. However, when it came to payment was here, unfortunately their system was down. But I've heard that at other places before too. I generally don't use Zelle for payment because I've had multiple frauds with Zell. Let me process. I am a Barber so I've used cell in the past business until I didn't anymore. However, I am going out of town and need my nails done which is also something I never do, and I heard really great things about this place and it was also a walk from work. Everyone was nice and the service was really good and quick, which is what I call efficient and that's how I see myself as a Barber and they were really nice and then it came time to pay and so was the only option because she couldn't find me on Venmo for some reason , but I have multiple transactions taken out of my bank account which I have reported fraud and my online baking in my debit card were shut down until I went into a bank in person which is not convenient for me when I work the hours at the bank is open and I don't have a normal schedule. so it was a very inconvenient happening that happened. I don't know how else to put it, but I won't be going back to a place. It does not take a credit card. And I'm very very upset about the inconvenience that it caused. I would like my full money back for it the time and stress that this situation has caused me. Also, the reason it was fraud is because that Zelle is connected to a bunch of different bank accounts and that isn't great. So I don't know what's going on with them and money, but I don't trust it and even if the service was good and everyone was nice I will absolutely not be back. read more

I asked for bubble bath dip and they gave me not that. It's white and definitely not bubble bath OPI which is pink. I trusted they knew what they were doing and didn't question it until I realized I had fuqued up by not asking where the hell the bubble bath color was because this is white. They filed my nail so close to my skin that it burned and now I have to wear a band-aid since the area of skin is exposed. My toes are the same color except less white so it looks milky and ugly. The staff was friendly. But my shellac manicure was rushed, came out sloppy and chipped 5 days later. I wouldn't recommend this place when there are other better and cheaper options on the east side. I got my nails done and they looked like tin, thick triangles. I went back for a fix because after $108 for a dip and pedi, I wanted my nails to look good. they "fixed" them for free. This place is unhygienic. I just left with multiple of my fingers bleeding because they cut my cuticles too short. My toes have polish all over my skin, she didn't even try to clean them up before she moved on to the next customer. The man doing my nails used the same Dremel on myself and another customer, he went back-and-forth between the two of us without washing or sanitizing any of the equipment. But I went again, and the lady who did my manicure cut me at least eight times; she was looking to the other side of the room until she cut me badly, and I had to tell her. Then I asked for eyebrow service, and another lady did it, and it was so bad and aggressive, and she cut so much of my eyebrows and left a hole plus product in my hair.
