I cleared my afternoon and took a 45 min drive, waited 15 min, all to be told that my waxer (Ana/Anareli) is on a "leave of absence ". Come to find out she actually quit. The lady told me that she's been trying to reach Ana for some time now and can't contact her about a date she will come back. Anyone that knows Ana would know immediately that this doesn't sound like her at all. The lady offered to have herself service me. I knew what she told me didn't sound right so I said no and left. The lady also mentioned she's tried to call all of Anas clients to let them know, I never once received a call so I know it was total BS. This place is lying to clients in an attempt to save clients. Relax and wax...left me burned and turned... The type of wax and technique applied burned and inflamed me...I still have a fair amount of little hairs and waxy bits remaining as well. My aesthetician was a cool very lovely personality. My results are terrible and I wouldn't send anyone here if you care about them/their skin. When I find out Austin Texas had one, I had to make sure I went. I was also nervous because I haven't had a Wax in so long and I was getting a new Wax lady at this time. first thing is I called and no answer so I'm like maybe they busy then I drove up here and came in it's beautiful that's the only good thing about this place. the one in Killeen. so nobody is at the desk and im hearing them in a room talking so im thinking maybe she have a client but no it's two workers talking and everything. first bad vibe for me. then so far i been waiting for at least 10 minutes the phone was ringing they didn't even come out to answer . so another red flag then i read it's a mandatory tip .. kinda pushing on the tip when im booked for the 55 wax but i always tip but i dont want to walk in a place and see MANDATORY TIP 20% and for what i want that's like an extra 11-15$ which is weird so im still sitting and waiting so I eventually walk out and made this review CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ASS ! ill avoid them and go to another one . read more

Was the first time getting a Brazilian wax in years. Was as painful as can be expected but not so bad as I was imagining! The wax they use is incredible quality and comes off smooth as can be! Minimal redness and soreness! The price was amazing! 20$ cheaper than other waxing places quoted me for a Brazilian wax! Plus 10$ off if you write a review for them on the next one! I'd like to preface by saying that I am in no way trying to defame Jetara or Relax&Wax. There is a right waxing fit for everyone and while this experience was not for me, it may be for you. Jetara self-described herself as a speed waxer and is very vocal, and the salon bills at an extremely affordable price point. However, in my six years of waxing, I have never cried after a service or left feeling so violated before, and wanted to share my experience for others looking for the right waxer for them. My two biggest concerns were communication style and respect for my body. Jetara gives frequent communication with a very loud voice. To me, it felt like orders were being barked the entire service. If I slipped holding my skin or flinched a little, Jetara rolled her eyes, sighed, and/or reprimanded me. I have a problem hair follicle which has been irritated for years and I have consulted with doctors and a dermatologist. I am always sure to flag it for a new waxer and explain what works best for my skin. After first implying it was herpes, Jetara insisted I must have been picking at it because that's what "you guys" always do. As it is an area I am already sensitive about, I felt extremely disrespected being compared to her "problem clients" and having her assume what is happening to my body after five to ten minutes looking at it, as compared to my decades of lived experience. Waxing is an incredibly personal service and I have never felt so disgregarded. It had been longer than four weeks since my last service, so I asked the receptionist when I booked if I should trim, as I know preferences vary across salon. The receptionist recommended some trimming, but I was then chastised by my waxer and told this was bad practice and my results would now be worse because of it. Every salon also asks clients to hold different positions, and the communication style used seemed to imply I was stupid for not anticipating my waxer's technique. The salon feels more like a cluttered office and was experiencing a temporary AC outage during my visit, which further contributed to my uncomfortable experience though I know this also relates to the low price point which likely does make this service accessible to others. Thank goodness my service was later in the day! I never write reviews but my experience here has continued to weigh on me for the wrong reasons, so I feel compelled to share. The wax itself has held up fine after a week and healed with minimal irritation. read more

Went to get a Brazilian wax for the first time at this place and asked Jetara if I should get regular hard wax or a sugared wax.... Automatically snaps at me all loud and rude well everyone is different so I can't tell you which one. Like I'm asking you for a recommendation.. i ended up choosing a sugared wax on my own and she vigorously starts putting the wax, I then say ouch bc it hurts and she proceeds to tell me that it hurts bc I'm flinching And starts saying how I'm the reason it hurts... she's extremely rude and loud. I tried chatting with her just about life as one does every time I get waxed and the vibe I got back from her was that she didn't care was just cold and did not say anything the waxing experience felt awkward .. would definitely not be going back to her. read more

I'm not one to leave reviews usually but I felt I should after my experience yesterday at Relax and Wax. This was my first wax (Brazilian and eye brow wax) since moving overseas to Austin so I was a little nervous before attending as I know each salon/beautician all do things a little differently and it takes time to find someone you like and trust. The salon layout was nice and reasonably tidy. I couldn't catch the name of the beautician as she spoke quite fast, she was friendly enough but didn't seem too interested in small talk, this may not be important to some but for me, having someone chatty with warm personality puts me at ease when I'm a new client. The brazilian was fine, no issues with pain or the way it was done. However the eyebrow wax is where it all came undone for me. I felt like the skin under my brow where I didnt have any hairs was being waxed over and over and it felt like the beautician wasn't confident in what she was doing. I didn't get asked if I had any preferences with shape or how I like my brows done, but I did mention before she started that my brows can grow quite long and I assumed she would trim them as that is what I am used to back home. I felt like no hairs were actually getting pulled out, I even had one strip placed high up on my forehead no where near my brows! Once she was done she applied some sort of cream or gel that immediately stung my skin so so badly and when I looked in the mirror my brow area was on fire. It looked and felt like I had a reaction or possible chemical burn from whatever the cream was she put on after the wax. My brows themselves didn't look any different from before the wax, but my whole brow area was so painful and on fire. I really wish I had said something while I was there but being in a new country and not knowing how to go about that made me feel somewhat intimidated. One positive part of the experience was that I had found a Groupon voucher online the morning of my appointment. I called up ahead of my apt and asked if I could use it for my wax that day and they said not to bother purchasing the coupon and that they would uphold the Groupon price for me which they did, I thought that was really nice of them, so it came to a really cheap price at the end. However I'm dealing with a pretty bad burn/ripped skin under my brows the day after, which is very noticeable and painful and looks like will take some time to heal, so I will not be returning which is disappointing as I had chosen this salon based on all of their glowing reviews. read more

Horrible customer service. I booked with Relax & Wax, I unfortunately had to reschedule and subsequently cancel. When I called to reschedule (had a last minute work meeting added to calendar), I explicitly asked about a fee and was told it was not a problem since I was re-scheduling. Then, I had to cancel. I called first thing in the morning to notify I was unable to make the appointment and would have to cancel at this time. I was charged two $20 fees to my credit card. I was never told I would be charged. When I called the customer service was awful, with no answer to why I had these charges. A manager was supposed to call me and never did. read more
