I went to Nancy's for the first time today, and was pleasantly surprised! My nails are flat and many nail salons have trouble doing them well. Nancy's did not have any trouble. When I first drove up to the salon, it looked shabby, but don't get the wrong impression! The entrance is in the back, and when I walked in, every customer stared at me, but I didn't mind. A woman was already waiting for me so I just walked in and sat down. I got the manicure for only $10 and the French extra for $5 dollars more. The woman worked rapidly and was extremely friendly. I didn't catch her name, but she helped me pick a perfect color and did an amazing job! Nancy was so kind and very social. In all, they offer many services, not only nails, and she did a fantastic job! All the tools that they used were clean. I will surely come back! Thanks for everything. read more

Love love love! I went here for the first time last saturday and could not be happier. Nancy is amazing at what she does! I'm very picky about my nails and have had acrylic for years. Once my last "go to" spot started to go downhill I decided to take the jump to gels and try this spot out. One of my best friends swore by her and her nails always looked great every time so I figured why not right? The salon is Tiny but it's a little powerhouse! Nancy is an absolute sweetheart and talked the entire time with me through my service. None of the awkward staring/silence like I'm used to. The rest of her staff doesn't seem to speak much English but they are all smiles and seem very sweet! PLEASE READ BEFORE THINKING ABOUT GOING TO THIS PLACE! My mom and I were going to Nancy for a year. Just shy of that year, we signed up for her "valued customer card". On our last visit, the visit just before we were to go on vacation, my mom, who is insulin dependent and on a pump, was having trouble with the infusion set that was attached to her, so we had to change it. I called Nancy and told her we were running a little late, but would definitely be there. And it's not like we were coming from two towns over, we live in the same town! She was annoyed, but that was Nancy. When we got there, 15 minutes late, there was no one in the place. She gave us the cold shoulder and made me wait an extra 10 minutes while she answered phone calls. When I made the appointment, I specifically told her that I would be getting a design. See, Nancy doesn't like doing designs, that's why I gave her the heads up. Oh, and she had the girl who ended up doing my mom's nails, start on mine. All of this, I knew, was for spite. Let me pause for one moment and tell you that in that year of going to her, we were only late ONE other time. The way she was acting, you'd think we did it every time! So, the whole time she's doing my nails, I'm looking at designs trying to figure out which one I really wanted, but that she could do fairly quickly. She waited until it was time for the polish to tell me that she didn't have time for a design because I was late. The ONE TIME I really wanted a design and now she wasn't going to do it. The week had be going so badly and this was the last thing I needed. I was VISIBLY upset and almost to the point of tears. And then when I felt she was rushing through the polish job, I was done. After I washed my hands, she directed me to sit down for the hand massage and I told her no! If she didn't have time for the design, why would she have time for a massage! When my mom and I got to the car, I was so upset. But this whole time, Nancy did NOTHING to try to rectify the situation. A TRUE business woman would have done SOMETHING to make sure I left happy, not CRYING. I work in retail, and have for 13 years. What she did was inexcusable and I called her a few days later to tell her so. She never called me back. She's not interested in the customer experience. It was more important for her to" stick it to me"for being late, than to make me happy. Please do not waste your time and spend your hard earned money on someone not worthy. She's a bit of a snob who talks about her clients to other clients. VERY unprofessional!!!! There are 50 other nail places to go in Union that won't treat you like CRAP. read more

I was looking for a new salon and came across Nails by Nancy in yelp and I am very impressed with their work, the service is great, Nancy knows what she is doing and you don't have to worry about the shape or length of the nail or anything else when she finish your nails are perfect. This is a nice place to go,its not over the top pampering but my manicure looked great till I returned back to California. Staff may seem gruff but the place was super clean they did turn away a lady who had some funky stuff on her feet and black toenails not from polish!give this place 5 stars for that, many places would do service. I decided to give Nails by Nancy another try and I'm very happy that I did. Although their hours/availability still remain limited, if you can find the time to snag an appointment here, its definitely worth the wait. I came to Nancy for a pedicure, to take off old acrylic tips, and to try and work with my natural nails. The results were great! For $30, the pedicure included paraffin wax, hot stones, ample massaging, and a thorough callus treatment. My technician, Lourdes, applied great pressure and was detail-oriented. Nancy suggested that I get the pedicure while my old acrylics soak off (*applause for efficiency*). I have been to other nail salons where they try and pry the nail extensions off using other, harsher methods (i'll spare the gory details) so needless to say, I was very glad to see that Nancy was going the safer route. After my acrylics were off, Nancy personally agreed to do my nails. She talked me through my options and ultimately I decided to do biosculpture clear gel with a gel french manicure painted on. She was patient with me as I explained the shape I wanted to achieve and made pleasant conversation throughout my entire visit. Although there are still little things about the salon that aren't my favorite, they truly aren't deal breakers (they use paper towels for the pedicure instead of real towels, the floors could use a good cleaning/are a bit dirty, the decorations aren't much to look at) but still - overall, this salon won't disappoint. Nancy clearly cares a lot about her customers and the business, and she went through great lengths to make sure I left satisfied today. There are so many other cheaper salons in the area, but you pay for what you get here. If you have the time and can spend a little extra, try Nails by Nancy :-) read more

Nancy is great, this is her passion and profession. She's a perfectionist. Takes her time. You definitely need an appointment bc she's talented and booked! She insists on confirming appointments for first timers bc of that. I showed her a pic of a design and she did it better! She acts like she can't do some designs, but the pictures speak for themselves. This is not your basic nail salon, well they can do a basic gel manicure too, but that's so boring! I am very loyal client of Nancy's and I think I will need to leave soon. The prices for pedicures have gone up $10 in less than a year and everything else has gone up $5. For a fill and an hour pedicure, it is $70 now BEFORE tip. It is getting quite expensive. I love her work but, it is just starting to get out of my budget. read more

I was excited to try this salon after reading almost all positive reviews. I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new salon to go to. I was happy to call and get a same day appointment. Unexpectedly I had a terrible time. I picked the colors and was happy with the selection. I had another aesthetician do my gel manicure. All was going well until she started doing my cuticles on my left hand and so aggressively pushed my cuticles back that she made me bleed. I was told this was my fault because I have "sensitive skin". I have never in my life had anyone make me bleed during a manicure. I had to pull my hand away from her twice during the manicure because she was being so rough. I did not feel comfortable complaining in a salon full of what appeared as nosey judgmental people but I figured my pulling my hand back twice would have been enough for someone to notice. I called the next day to ask if the blue liquid they poured on my hand was in fact an antiseptic and if they sterilize their tools in between patrons. I spoke with Nancy, and to my surprise was rude and made it seem like it was my fault and asked me if I ever had my cuticles cut. (Side note I am pretty sure "bleeding" from getting your cuticles cut or pushed back is not a common thing). She said since I didn't speak up during my manicure there was no way to prove that I did not someone inflict damage on my own cuticles when I left. I took a picture when I left and I guess the time stamp can prove how red and irritated my cuticles where when I left the salon compared to my other two nails. They look worse today. I look forward to having to apply an antibiotic ointment for a few days and hope I don't get any kind of infection. Maybe this establishment does not care about keeping new clients or common courtesy. read more

AMAZING!! I LOVE NANCY & HER TEAM! Today was my first time here and honest to God, I have never come across another nail salon like this one. What first caught my attention was how Nancy sprayed UV/Sunblock protection on my hands to protect it from the UV light for my gel manicure. Brilliant, clever, and unbelievable. It's not the biggest nail salon, but hey whatever gets the job done right ladies ? And the job done RIGHT of course. My pedicure was out of this world. Diana gave me the best and longest massage ever plus hot stone! She was very precise and detailed. I loved it. Dont you hate it when you have to worry about the shape of the nail and always have to be on top of the technician to fix things? I do! But not at this place!!! Just sit back and relax and watch your toes come out the best you have ever seen them. They also put hot oil on the heel of your foot. I swear it's the little things. If this was a regular pedicure for 20 bucks I wonder how the spa pedicure is for $35! LADIES COME HERE YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!!!! It's such a hidden GEM! Wow!! Amazing job! I've been to several nail salons in the past few months and Nails By Nancy is amazing! Nancy did my sculpting gel extensions (which came out great) and I believe her name is Diana prepped and painted my nails and she did a very good job at doing my French tips! Nancy was very meticulous and detail-oriented while creating my gel extensions. Also while Nancy did not paint my nails I saw her painting someone else's and she was doing a very intricate design and it looked amazing! Also had a great exfoliating hand massage. I am absolutely OBSESSED with Nails by Nancy. I found this salon through Yelp when Majestic Nails in Linden treated me so poorly. Nancy took me in within an hour of my phone call and immediately fixed the problem that I had. I've now been back two times and I can't complain about anything. Everyone is so understanding and helpful. I have had gel set and gel pedicure done and I am the happiest customer in the world. I decided to stop by to check the place out to see if I wanted to make an appointment. The door is locked so you have to ring the door bell to get in. This lady comes to the door and stands in front of the door so we couldn't get in and asks us "how may I help you?". Yes, she literally leaves us standing outside in the freezing cold, mind you it's like 27 degrees outside! Finally, my mother sarcastically asks "well can we come in?" And she steps to the side to let us in. We walk inside and there is literally ONE person doin nails but that's neither here nor there. The entire time we're asking her questions and she has a stuck up , sh***y attitude like she doesn't want to answer our questions. During the conversation, I asked to see her nail colors on the example nails and she literally told me she didn't have any and then when I reiterated my question , she(with an attitude) walks over to a drawer to pull out some of the examples. I have read some of these reviews before I went and I saw that quite a few people said Nancy and her staff are rude and do not care about customer service! I decided to go and make my own conclusions and well. . .they were RIGHT! She was very rude and will not be getting my money! There are TONS of nail salons in the city of Union and literally TONS in the neighboring cities! I had a similar experience as Nannette. Nancy is a rude snob with no justification for it. Listen, i'm all for valuing peoples time and adhering to my appointments but there's this thing called life and sometimes shit happens! I had to reschedule ONE appointment and right from the beginning of that phone call she already gave me attitude. I apologize if my sick mother who was undergoing chemo was not feeling well enough to take care of my 2 year old. I apologize for not dragging my child to your hole in the wall salon and having her cause havoc within your salon (which I totally should have). I rescheduled my appointment came in two days later, as im picking my color she keeps looking over at me like I had a booger on my forehead. Yes? I said. She begins to ask me what I was doing there and that she did not confirm my rescheduled appointment. Ummm what? So what was the point of me rescheduling exactly?? So instead of telling her to f**k off I said Ok Nancy let me reschedule AGAIN with you. She said i'm all booked since its prom season. So basically she was telling ME, her customer to f**k off. That's fine. Instead of wasting anymore of my time, breath or patience on this poor excuse for a human I decided to walk out. Mind you, this was only my 3rd time coming here. She has zero respect for her customers. She doesn't do any designs, God forbid you show her a design off the web she actually cringes. How do you own a nail salon yet cant do any designs?? My full set with her was so big and bulky and didnt look nice AT ALL but I decided to give her another chance yet I was the one played at the end. I love the customer service that I get at Nancy's salon. The pedicures are outstanding; no rush jobs here. I've only gotten the gel manicures here. The first time I came to Nancy's shop, I wanted to get my nails done for a photo shoot that I had coming up. I got a gel mani and my nails started chipping right away ONLY because I had acrylic on my nails from a previous shop and the gel wasn't sticking to my nails as they ought. This was no fault of Nancy's. I told her about my nails and she told me to come back so that she could re-do them. She didn't charge me for it because again...it was the acrylic that I had had on my nails. Anyway, as I stated earlier, I love the customer service. The atmosphere is pleasant; not like some salon's that I've been to in the past. I searched for another nail salon here on yelp and I found Nancy's. I didn't want to travel a million miles to a nail salon and I'm grateful that this one is less than two miles from my home. I've gone to Nails by Nancy for a couple months now. Always liked them because my gel manicure would last up to 4 weeks! However, after my last experience there I will not go back. I left there with three cuts on nails. My thumb took TWO weeks to heal. Didn't get an apology at all and she was clearly rushing to finish my nails. Okay.. So a group of us were interested in getting manicures and pedicures. Never been to this place before I called and asked what type of pedicure chairs they have. (I prefer pedicure chairs with jets) and NANCY. THE OWNER. Told me that they don't actually clean their pedicure Jets all they do is run them with water. Not only was she completely rude but she told me that her business was low class. She said "if you're one of those people who care about cleanliness then you should go to a different salon that's more middle-class to upper-class. " SERIOUSLY? That's disgusting! The number of diseases and infections that you can get from dirty foot spas is repulsive. Would you want to get your leg amputated because of a bad pedicure? I would highly recommend not going here this place is filthy from what the owner of the salon told me!! Not only that according to state health laws, there actually is a proper way of cleaning and disinfecting which they don't do again according to the owner. Went to this place for the first time and I must say I was pleased w the service. I loved that it is by appointment only and I don't have to wait. The lady was very pleasant throughout the whole service. However, DO NOT get your eyebrows done here. I got my eyelids burnt and my eyebrows chopped off. I made an appointment for my first time here. Nancy did not get up from her chair, nor look up from computer or even acknowledge me for a couple of minutes. She finally acknowledged me , but did not say anything welcoming and told me it would be a few minutes ( but I made an appointment!). I sat in a chair by her desk while I continued to wait and then she rudely asked me to go sit in the " waiting area" which was about a foot away from the chair I was in and consisted of two chairs meant for drying pedicures. There was no "waiting area"! I should have turned around when I first walked in. The place is cramped, messy and dirty. The customers were all fat old ladies. Not a happening place. Average pedicure. I used to be a regular at Nancy's because the staff really was great. I have no complaints as far as the job that I received by any of the girls. The reason I stopped going to Nancy was because of her horrible horrible horrible attitude. I found a new place where I was treated nicely and moved on from that awful place where I watched Nancy bully her staff and clients. I witnessed her turn away new customers once because they asked her if she thoroughly cleaned the pedicure baths. Anyway, my regular nail tech was busy today so I went to another place and by the luck of the draw I found the hidden gem in kenolworth where all of Nancy's sick, tired, and mistreated employees moved to. While at The nail club - it just so happened that upon finding out that Nancy's former staff worked there, I met FIVE other customers who joined in the conversation - we all agreed that we left Nancy's because of how horrible she treats people. My review is not about the service because Nancy is a master at doing nails, the best I've experienced so far. My review is about the total unprofessionalism, and attitude the last time I patronized her nail salon. I was a customer for about 6-7 years. I had a nail appointment with her that particular Friday at 10:00am. The night before I had a family emergency. so the next morning, I was running around with family members to and from the hospital. I couldn't leave her a voicemail, because she doesn't retrieve voicemail, I had to pick my brother up at the airport that morning, so on the way to airport, I called to reschedule..she rescheduled me in a hurry and told me to come in at a certain hour, I did, they were very busy and backed up. I waited 20 minutes passed my appt but that was fine, I understood. When it was my turn to get a pedicure, I noticed the girl was rushing my pedicure so I asked her why, she said she hadn't eaten lunch. That is not the customer's problem..I kept my mouth shut until it was time to get my nails done by Nancy. I sat down and she started removing the gel nails from one had..I mentioned that my pedicure was cut down to 40 minutes instead of the hour, I said this very low, as not to involved anyone else. Nancy snapped at me, "She hasn't eaten lunch and we're backed up"..I told her she should have told me upfront that my pedicure would only be 40 minutes, she snapped back, "I was going to lower the price", and I said, "OK, but you didn't tell me that and I was looking forward to my 1 hour pedicure". She got upset, got up and ran to the ladies room and stayed there for 15 minutes..came back and said, "why are you talking me this way", I said Nancy, I'm a customer and I have a right to reproach you if I think I'm being cheated of good service, I'm practically whispering so no one would hear, so I don't know why you're getting upset"..she refused to do my nails, ran to the ladies room again and stayed there until I left. Remember, I had been doing my nails with Nancy for about 6-7 years. At this point everyone was staring and SHE was the one that made a big deal about it. Never went back.
