I said no and they removed them. It was the roughest treatment I've ever had use the drill to file them down and burned three of my nail beds. I went in for a manicure but my grown out acrylics had to be removed first. She did the worst job taking them off, hurting me and even breaking my nail half way across! My friend and I went to do a spray tan at Palm Beach Tan (which I highly recommend it was great ;) ). So we went to this place for Gel French tip manis out of convenience. I usually try to give service-oriented places the benefit of the doubt, but this nail place was really bad, in all aspects. They prioritized my friend and I over customers who had made appointments and had to sit there waiting for like a half hour. The lady who did my nails didn't even do a full gel manicure, which normally takes 45 minutes to an hour, and the French tips were kind of sloppy and the edges of my nails were not cleaned up. While I was being serviced the lady asked me where I work and when I said a law firm, she asked private details about my job's salary which surprised me a little bit. Everyone who worked there in general seemed unhappy and it disappointed me. When people came in the door, the technician doing my nails as well as one other lady shouted at customers that they were "too busy" and to come back later or another day, which I deemed very unprofessional and rude. The cleanliness was not even sub-par and I'm glad I didn't do a pedicure because I feel like I would've gotten an infection. I did my eyebrows too and the wax room had wax splattered on the walls. Wtf. Finally, we were charged $52 for this excuse me but not even half-assed work. I went yesterday for a quick mani while my daughter was getting her hair done next door (really great hair salon, btw). Pretty much right away there was sort of a weirdly negative vibe. There were practically no other customers there, but the tech seemed a little impatient with me from the word go, and she rushed through the whole mani for no reason. I'm not sure what went wrong - we spoke basically no words the whole time - but somewhere in the middle it's like she got *pissed* at me. I couldn't figure out what I did wrong, but she started getting a little rough with my hands. Suddenly, literally right in the middle of the mani, before she applied the polish, she demanded I get up and go pay for it. WTF is that?! Is that normal? It's never happened to me before. So I only came here out pure convenience. It's right across the street from my house and I decided to stop in for a last resort type of situation before I head out to dinner. They don't have any customer service whatsoever. No one greets you when you walk in. Multiple people have walked in since I've been here and no one has walked up front to even say hello. I'm new to the area and visited this place for gel mani and pedi, my polish appeared "sheer"/"transparent", which didn't bother the nail tech at all, I'm positive she wouldn't have been ok with her nails or if I were a "different type" of client nails looking like that, I paid and tipped and wrote it off as one bad experience. I decided to give them another chance a few months later, as this is the most convenient nail salon to my home. Second time going I wasn't acknowledged walking in the door, approximately 2-3 minutes later a client who "didn't look like me" walked in and was acknowledged immediately , eventually I made eye contact with a nail tech and stated I wanted a gel mani, her reply "pick a color" and nodded her head over to the polish bottles, with other salons I've been provided with nail "swatches" which allowed me to pick a color based off what the color will look like on my nails and also avoided me from having to touch and open multiple nail polish bottles, I asked the nail tech for the "swatches" which were clearly laying behind the front desk, her reply was for me to pick from the bottles, like WTF!!! ... I will not give them another chance, this is just the short version of my experience as I would be typing for a longer period if I relayed the entire version. There are too many other nail salons in this area for me to tolerate less than stellar service from this one simply for a minor convenience. I stopped here on Saturday because I was in the area doing some Christmas shopping... I should have paid more attention to the Yelp reviews since they were screaming "Don't go here"... but it was just a gel manicure, how bad could it be? Right? Yelp -5'ish, Jodi - 0. Instead of soaking off my previous gel polish by wrapping my fingers in cotton soaked acetone and foil - I was left to soak my fingers in a bowl of acetone. This method is old school. It dries out your fingers and cuticles immensely and it's rarely done anymore. The tech proceeded to take her tool and scrape the polish off my nails, taking layers of my nail with it. I said something to her about hurting me and tearing my nails and her response was "You have on OPI gel, it's too hard to get off"... uh, everyone uses OPI. I knew I should have left at the point. My nails were cut entirely too short and filed so thin they are currently like paper. Even with the gel on, they are bending and tearing left and right because they were filed to the point of being see through. My manicure was done Saturday, it's Wednesday and there are terrible ridges on the sides of my nails, they are torn at the nail bed and look terrible. This was a total waste of $40.00 and I will never be back here. read more

I was in the area and I just needed a pedicure so instead of going to ol' faithful, I made a stop here. It deserves no more than 3 stars. The pedicurist did not do a good job on making the bottom of my feet smooth. There was no scraping only massaging. That might can work for other chicks, but I need some elbow grease and arm power to work on these feets. (Yes, I said feets). Their selection of nail polish is slim and not up-to-date. I'm glad I brought my own. All I got was a manicure and it was ok. But not good. There is no customer service or pleasantries. I completely understand why the reviews are poor for this place. I have to say, I have noticed a trend with some nail places in which the workers are overly aggressive - physically. I have had my thumb twisted, fingers cut etc. Today, during a pedicure, the woman doing my feet grabbed and twisted my leg with aggressive force. I was completely caught off guard and yelped. I was sitting quietly and barely spoke to the woman the entire time she did my nails and all I could think was whether she was going to hurt me again. This is unacceptable behavior by anyone, let alone someone you are paying to do a service. And the smell is this pace is enough to kill a mouse. They use zero ventilation. In addition, I believe that places that only accept cash are riddled with red flags. Spare your health and go somewhere else. read more

I'm unsure if she was the owner but she was nice, not talkative but definitely did a great job. One word: RUDE. The technicians didn't know I understood Vietnamese, and they were talking about me the entire time. It wasn't until the end of the service when my 7 year old daughter said "Thank you" in Vietnamese, that her technician ran back and whispered furiously to all of the other technicians to stop talking about me because I was Vietnamese. Then they acted like they were my best friends, making excuses for why they were talking about me. One of the technicians (the rudest one) said later, "Your Vietnamese isn't THAT fluent." I responded in English, "No, but I understand EVERYTHING." Terrible customer service. Why would you talk about your customers like that? My nails were done just fine, but there are so many local nail salons--it wasn't worth dealing with the rudeness. I'll never return and don't recommend this to others either. read more

I went there yesterday with my daughter because I was in desperate need of getting a pedicure and manicure for my trip. I am not someone who goes regularly to nail salons, but I have gone to a couple in my time. The ladies were nice. In other salons, when I ask them to draw little cute designs on my daughter's nails, they usually do all five. She only did one finger on each hand, which I didn't like. When it came time to do my nails, there were times that I felt some pain. They close at 7:30 p.m., and I have never seen a place that doesn't care if there are customers in there, they are bolting out of the door. I also thought that it took way too long to get a manicure and pedicure. I don't think I will return. They seem a little lazy. read more

Went looking for a nice place to get a quick mani...should have taken awhile longer to find a better spot because this place is NOT for me!! From the minute I entered, I felt like I was a bother....the girl at the front desk kept chatting on her cell the whole time I was trying to ask for the mani...she then barked orders at me to sit at a certain table, then turned around and walked out of the front door, continuing her phone conversation!!!! I sat there for a few moments, and seriously contemplated leaving, but knowing that I only had a short amount of time available for nail service(and my nails were in horrible shape ;) I decided to stick it out. After about 5 minutes, a new girl sits down to work on me...great, I think...until the same apathetic attitude shows up in this girl...no eye contact, not even a "hello"....she just goes about her task while gazing out as if in a dark fog!!!....wow, they really make you feel special at this place-NOT!!!!! Since I'm not real familiar with this area yet, I think I will do a bit more research next time I'm in town, and hopefully, will find a place that understands the term "customer service".......and the mani??? Horrible horrible horrible. Waste of time and money. This is the third time I have come to this place and the nail polish I used was "old". They had to repaint my nails which took forever because the old nail polish didn't dry after 20 minutes of waiting and literally peeled off. Not only that, they charged me the full price! The ladies at this nail salon are rude, move way too fast, and talk way to much in their native language (I felt like they were making fun of me at one point). Oh and their sorry attempt at cleaning the pedicure tubs and the nail utencils was much noticed. Also, no tips on credit cards and minimum amount on credit card is $15, and manicure is $14. Makes no sense! The lady told me to go next door to the Safeway and get cash. I will NEVER go back here. I now go to VY Nails in Fairfax (by the Ledo's). This place is less expensive, cleaner, and the services are much better (warm towels are included in a regular pedicure). read more

I went back to get a mani/pedi and had a terrible experience. The lady checking people in was my manicurist and she kept going to check in other customers during my service! She also did a terrible job and rushed through everything. She didn't do a good job buffing the rough spots on my feet and she put 3 coats of polish on my nails because she said that the polish didn't look good with less coats. Why didn't she say something ahead of time and I could have picked out another color? The 3 coats just add my nails gooey, ugh. I will never be back. read more

Only go here if it is the last place open in Fairfax. Poor customer service, as other yelpers as mentioned, POOR attention to detail, and they clearly don't care about this or their customers. We thought it was open until 7pm but apparently it is only open until 6pm on Sundays. Three of us walk in, two for mani/pedi and one for pedi. It is about 5:15-5:30. If you do not have time to accommodate us in a not-so-rushed manner, don't tell us you can take us! We got our manis/pedis done and felt rushed the entire time. In addition to the lack of smiles, I noticed a big bump on my toe nail, which was a hair stuck in the nail, and told the lady doing my pedicure to fix it. I had to tell her twice and when she didn't understand (I guess) what I was saying, I had to tell her much younger colleague to tell her to take all the polish off for that nail and redo it. Even then, I can only imagine she had something negative to say about this to her colleague in her native language. Last but definitely not the last of the customer service issues of concern, I also noticed a lot of dead skin still on my feet and had to tell her twice to file it off. VERY POOR attention to detail. In addition, my friend, who was getting a mani and pedi, was getting both pedi and mani done at the same time...in the pedi chair! If you don't have time for us, don't take us in! Paying money to get nails done is a treat/luxury for most and should not be treated otherwise by these staff. If you are paying for a service, the service should meet minimum expectations at least.
