***** OVERCHARGED***** hello, I need to update my review, I have been discussing back-and-forth with Emily without success so here is the honest review I promised her . a friend of mine came with me four months ago when I left my first review of five stars and I refrained leaving a review for her services and experience but here it is. we chose several services from the menu and discussed pricing,,,, the services discussed amounted to $90 total plus tip. Keep in mind we had just been to the salon over the previous month and spent $500. This was a freshen up for an upcoming event. At checkout, they switched the price to $150 plus tip!!!!!. I questioned this and was shocked !!!!!They said they did other services that were never requested and never discussed with my friend or myself. My friend even said why are they putting some kind of lotion on and plastic bags on my feet? I've never had that before and I don't know what it is. Emily stated that she asked for additional services which she did not ask for anything additional . If she didn't know why they were doing with the plastic bags and lotion, which was some kind of service then how could she possibly request it ??? She definitely didn't ask for anything. They pushed it on to her and charged me for it.. I spoke with Emily and expressed my concerns about bait and switch , the price and services were agreed-upon at $90 and then they demanded $150. I reluctantly paid it, but I will never go back. it was surprising but not surprising that Emily was so adamant about keeping the overcharged $60 and wouldn't even give a credit. Keep in mind we had been in there twice before and spent over $500 within the month prior. That little $60 overcharge cost her a long time good customer, I see other bad reviews about Emily. She was very polite, but she did not seem interested in resolving my issue fairly she didn't want to resolve it at all she was keeping that overcharge. watch out for the cashier also, She was participant in the overcharge . I give five stars on the quality of the services from the nail technicians, but Emily refused to refund the overcharges. She would not even offer a credit for future services. I would have disputed it with my credit card company, but Top Coat offered a cash discount and I accept it unfortunately. So always pay by credit card , so if the services are inferior, or don't last the expected time, you have some recourse.. We now go to a shop close by that seems to use a little higher quality products, they last longer. I'll update my review with that shop's name and location.. So my warning to any customer is to make sure you get the price upfront so there's no surprises with this business. Maybe even get the price in writing so you don't get overcharged either. Good luck . in response to Emily's response . Yes the price was confirmed upfront at the register for $90 once the services were completed that we request requested she charged me $150 that is overcharging. I never agreed to anything over and above $90. That's all we requested. I keep telling you this and you keep trying to change the story like it's going to change everything. We did not request anything other than $90 worth of services off of your menu. We confirmed that with the cashier. $500 was spent by us at your salon the month before and NOW that money is being spent elsewhere. It's your loss. Hopefully this review lets others know to watch your company and make sure they don't have the same problem. Get everything in writing pay by credit card for future disputes do not pay by cash. This place used to be my go-to nail salon but after my recent experience I will never come back. While I hate to write this review as most of the nail techs are decent and kind, the manager is rude and does not care about her customers. I had an appointment for 4PM along with a friend (who I convinced to come here for the first time) and while my friend was seated fairly quickly it took nearly 30 minutes for anyone to tend to me and shortly after, my nail tech said she needed to eat and left again. My nails were not actually worked on until close to 4:50 at which point my friend was basically nearly done with her pedicure and was moving on to a manicure. There was no apology for the long wait time. The folks next to me were also complaining about how long they had to wait. The nail tech suggested I pay for my services prior to my polish and I agreed and went to pay and asked if they offered any discount or anything due to the long wait time. I told them it was nearly an hour. The manager first off told me it was not close to an hour (like why're you accusing me of lying?) and then declined to do anything. Again no apology either. The lady at the front desk had more decency and apologized. I didn't argue as I did like coming here and politely paid for the services and continued to get my nails painted. Had the manager left it at that alone I would have still considered returning. But she was determined to start a scene and came back with screenshots from her CCTV footage to prove a point that it had not been an hour. Why was that necessary? Did I create a scene for you to do all that? Even then I kept telling her this isn't necessary when I'm saying I enjoy coming here. All she really had to do was apologize. She kept saying that the wait time was "only 20-30 minutes." How is 20-30 minutes okay even? My time is precious to me. And I'm agreeing the tech came around 4:30 but left afterwards. How is it okay to call your customers liars repeatedly? Why would I purposely do that when I'm telling you I enjoy coming here? Why would you create a hostile environment when I didn't even argue when you refused to offer anything? Probably some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I'm still shocked by this experience and that she's the manager. She really needs some training on how to run a business and how to treat customers. If this is how she treats her customers just imagine how she treats her employees! Even if you disagree the least you can do is just apologize and let it go for loyal customers. If I were her, I would've offered a courtesy $5 off or at the very least an apology for the inconvenience. I'm still stunned how this lady thought it was a good idea to pull screenshots from her camera footage when I already paid and sat down. For what? To lose a customer? The pedicure is 5 stars. Lavender pedicure was amazing I wanted to fall asleep. My legs felt like jello after, I was so relaxed. Unfortunately, I likely will not be back for a gel manicure. I've been several times and every time, the color begins to chip within a few days. My nails feel weaker. They never last more than a week. I love this place and the Tysons location too! I get my lashes and mani-pedi done with Emily and her team religiously every two weeks, and I wish I could afford to go more often. The salon is always clean and they have a selection of drinks too. There are so many polish colors to choose from I usually ask for help deciding. I do a lot of work with my hands and am very hard on my nails but the dip polish rarely breaks. I never plan to change salons unless I move out of the area, but no plans for that! This place is definitely losing points for experience and quality manicures. I was very surprised to see disgruntled employees and inexperience rather palpable this time. I really wanted this nail salon to do well. I walked in requesting a French manicure with the attached picture. What I got in return was three women trying to get the French manicure that I wanted. I asked for a simple French manicure and they suggested that I go for acrylic finishing of my nails, followed by painting the nails in the French manicure style. I went ahead with it. Nancy started the work, she was very inexperienced. She handed it off to Jade, who took an emery board and shoved it into my pinky so hard that it left a huge cut, which she tried to cover with some antiseptic liquid. I asked for Neosporin while she used stinging acetone on all the fingers, including the pinky. She said the ointment would not allow her to complete the steps for the French manicure. Again, I was cooperative and went ahead with it. It's the holidays, let's keep the spirit happy. I went in at 10:30 and came out at noon with a French manicure that looks extremely amateur, a gash in my pinky and a bill that was only 20% off. I asked for 50%, even though I shouldn't have had to pay. I paid the 50% and left. I let the owner's mom know I wouldn't be coming again and that I was sorry. They all apologized under their breath passing me by, except Jade and Nancy. read more

So this is my second visit. My first visit was with Annie who gave me a wonderful pedicure, I told Annie I don't care about color I only care about my ingrowns that were painful. She took good care of me. She has a kind heart. My second visit July 7th I got my nails done by James. At first he was rushing but he said it had been a long day for him. He took his time, he was very meticulous with the designs. I was very impressed and happy. Overall this place is clean and they offer you beverages while you are being serviced. Unfortunately I now have to leave a three start review . The first time I came everything was great. I always come at 10:00 am when they open. Both my second and third visits have been late starting . I actually didn't want to leave a review about this but now it's the second time happening and very unprofessional. My second time coming they didn't even have the door unlocked which you can see from the pictures . Then when someone finally came, they needed me to sign in but their machine wasn't even turned on so that caused me to have to wait even longer . The woman working was really apologetic so I felt like it was a one time thing and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt . Again today I had an appointment for 10:00 am. They were open this time at least but the male tech who was supposed to be doing my nails wasn't there . At first I was told 5 mins. When it got to 10 mins past my appointment time the lady couldn't give me a time he would be there and only stated he was on his way from falls church . I told her I would be leaving. I also told her that it was extremely unprofessional and my time should be respected just like I respect their time . I think the pedicure was fine, I have no real complaints. The gel manicure is what went downhill. The nail salon I usually visit finishes both services in less than an hour. Update: the business contacted me almost immediately to offer a redo. While I won't be going back, I do appreciate the courtesy and professionalism to fix the situation. I sincerely hope this business does well and gets a great following. It can be tricky to open a new business, so fingers crossed they will get the kinks out. I tried Top Coat today, since they offered a 20% off discount to bring in clients. I would not go back. I normally go to Celebrity Nails, which is a no frills salon close by and much cheaper. At Celebrity Nails, my preferred technician always takes her time and while it's a long appointment, the finished product is awesome and is always relaxing. I wish I had just stayed with my normal routine, because even with a discount, it was over priced for the services I got. The pedicure I got was quick and not thorough. Although the salon was mostly empty, my technician sped through the service and didn't thoroughly exfoliate or file. It was the quickest pedicure I've ever gotten, and one of the least relaxing. The worst part was the gel manicure. My technician again rushed through the service ending up in a very painful cut on a cuticle. Now it's very painful to wash my right hand or move that finger. My finger pooled with blood, and she claimed that my cuticles were too dry as if the fault was mine. She rushed through the manicure leaving a very uneven polish job with noticeable marks and rough edges. I felt so anxious after she cut my finger, I should have just asked to leave but didn't want to be rude. She didn't add a routine top coat on my nails (and lied and said she did). She also didn't wait for the nails to dry between coats under the UV light. This resulted in my poorly cut and filed nails to look goopy and thick with polish. I know this is a new business, and I want any small business to succeed. If you try them out, I recommend telling your technician to take it slow. Also keep an eye out to make sure the tools are properly sterilized. I didn't see any sterilization between uses, and this is concerning considering I was bleeding during my appointment. read more

My first experience here was pretty good. It's a nice, pretty little salon. The man at the front desk (Jason I think?) was very welcoming to me and to others that I heard come in. I saw Helen for my dip powder nails. They didn't have the exact colors that I wanted, but we found some similar alternatives. You just need to be very verbal about what you want. For instance, I said at the beginning that I wanted the stiletto shape. Once the tips were glued on, she said "Coffin shape right?" I said, "No, stiletto." She nodded and then proceeded to shape them all as coffins so I said again, "I don't want coffins, I just told you stiletto." She had no idea what I meant until I showed her the picture again and she said, "oh, pointy!" Would have been easier if she knew the terms of all the common mail shapes as a nail tech, but we got there. She was very meticulous in applying the dip powder. In the end, my nails look beautiful :) I just urge everyone to speak up when there's still a chance for something to be fixed rather than waiting until the end of the appointment to speak up or not say anything at all and go home upset. The nail technician listened to me, the shape, removing cuticles, etc. Even helped me out picking out an accent color to match my main one! My nails looked fabulous. I walked out a very happy and satisfied customer. :-) Fast forward to Sunday - three of my nails (two on one hand, one on the other) chipped plus one cracked near the edge. I came here for the first time since I live very close to the shop. I wanted to get the combo pedicure and gel manicure. Nail tech started w/ a pedicure which turned out very disappointingly. She didn't even scrub the bottoms of my heels, only the sides and ball of my feet. The massage was also not enjoyable as she only lightly massaged my legs. I came here twice before writing a review. Here is my experience. During both pedicures my toe nails were never soaked before they were clipped. Each time my nails had jagged cuts that were painful. My feet were never scrubbed or my cuticles taken care of each time. The technician did the same thing to my nails. I was so disappointed the second time that I walked out without polish. It didn't seem like anyone cared about anything except for payment. Given the location and clientele I advise you to do a better job. This is below subpar.
