I've frequented this salon time after time for pedicures when I'm on a time crunch/ in the area. Their regular "basic" pedicures are a step above other places level of "basic" and they are still relaxing and done well. A highlight is that they offer happy hour pricing from Monday-Thursday 10-3pm and all day on Fridays on certain services, including the regular pedicures. I've been here on busy days and slow days with no loyalty to any particular nail technician and my nails are always clean and done well. They offer snacks, tea, water, and wine during your service. They are efficient but never feel rushed. They take walk-ins, but I highly suggest making an appointment given that's in a high traffic area. I've been coming to this nail salon for 7-8 years (if not longer), and I genuinely tried to stay loyal because of the history. Unfortunately, the quality has been consistently disappointing. I keep giving it another chance hoping things will improve, but every visit ends the same way. The work is slhe polish application is uneven, messy around the edges, and honestly looks like it was done by someone with very little experience. It shouldn't feel like I'm paying for a professional service and leaving with results that look like a beginner did my nails. It's frustrating because I've invested years into this place, but at this point I can't ignore the lack of consistency and care. I've been going to Mint for over a year now, and I still absolutely love it--especially thanks to my amazing nail technician, Jenny! Big shoutout to friends who give the best recommendations. Jenny has never disappointed. I'll come in with an idea, and she always brings it to life with her own creative spin. Her attention to detail and eye for design are just wonderful. She's truly a gem! She recently went on maternity leave (congrats, Jenny!), and I've had a couple of appointments with other techs since. My most recent visit was with Hannah, and she was great--super sweet and did a lovely job! I can't say she's just as amazing as Jenny (because Jenny's my girl!), but Hannah definitely made the visit a good one. One thing to note: not all technicians specialize in nail art or designs, so if you're asking for something more detailed, sometimes another tech will step in to finish. It's not a big deal, but worth knowing if you're particular about your designs. The salon itself is clean, welcoming, and well-run. Booking is super easy--I usually text, but you can call too. The receptionist is always so friendly and accommodating, even when I'm being that person making last-minute changes (sorry and thank you!). This is my second time at this Mint Nail salon in Fairfax since I usually go to their Arlington location. I essentially did a walk in as I called the salon an hour before coming in asking for a regular mint pedicure. This was during their happy hour special so with tip, it cost me about $40. I like the variety of colors you can choose from. They have a decent option for a reasonable price compared to other nail places in the area. I received a foot/leg massage just briefly but it truly relaxes me. It's more than enough but you can always do add-on's for more time and such. It's a tiny salon but pretty busy and turnover on customers is quick. They also offer cash discounts and a loyalty stamp. read more

TLDR: Nail filed through to nail bed and painted over with shared product while actively bleeding, had to go to urgent care after receiving service to clean the wound and get updated Tetanus shot. I have been a customer at Mint Nail Lounge in both Ballston and Mosaic for years and have never had a bad service until this one. I went to the Mosaic location on February 1, 2025 for a manicure and pedicure, as well as removal of SNS polish manicure. The nail tech I had (Dung Luong - "Diana") sat me in the pedicure chair and began using the electric drill to remove the SNS from my nails - the dust got all over me and my shoes as she did not lay down towels. She then put acetone remover on my nails and let it sit for approximately 30-45 minutes while doing my pedicure. Once done with the pedicure, she removed the acetone to see that it didn't fully dissolve the SNS polish, at this point she used the electric nail file directly on my natural nails. She did this so aggressively that it caused my nail beds to become red and I felt a burning sensation. I'm pretty non-confrontational so I didn't say anything at this point, which proved to be a huge mistake. Moving to the manicure, she continued to file my nails aggressively with a used nail file and nail buffer, which filed fully through one of my nails to the skin causing me to have a bleeding wound in the middle of my nail. Despite this Diana continued to use a nail file on the wound. Before painting, I was instructed to wash my hands and pay - at this point I got a good look at my hands and saw my there was a hole in my nail that was actively bleeding. I went back to the manicure station and told her I no longer wanted color because my nail was bleeding (and quite frankly I wanted to end the experience as soon as possible), but I asked if we could do clear polish on all of my other nails. Thinking we understood each other, she proceeded to apply clear polish on my nails as I had asked, but then proceeded to paint over the bleeding wound with top coat nail polish -- to be clear this is a nail polish that has been and will likely be used on other customers. I left in a state of shock and ended up going to urgent care to get the wound properly cleaned. I also had to receive an updated tetanus shot as the doctor was concerned about the cleanliness of the metal tip on the nail drill. I called on February 2, 2025 to let the salon know what happened - the receptionist was very kind and apologetic about the experience. She had me send photos to show her manager, who was not in at the time. She called me back quickly and the salon refunded my money. To their credit, the receptionist and manager handled this professionally which was greatly appreciated. I've always had a good experience, but my most recent visit was a disappointment. Almost always the technicians I've had are very attentive and fix any discrepancies during my visit. This time I noticed a bump from the glitter on the edge of my nail and a large gap in the center of my nail that didn't have glitter. I understand the glitter polish I requested can be challenging to completely fill my nails, but technicians that I've had before were able to without me asking. I know that a color glitter polish would easily fill the entirety of the nail, but that is not the color I want. I just wanted to have one nail redone, but they had to redo 4 of the nails with glitter. That led to another nail to have a bump on the center because it was not fully smoothed out when they had to remove the top coat. On top of all of the issues, the bad attitude from the technician that was fixing my nails was unnecessary. She was obviously annoyed and in a rush to get it done. It is CRAZY how horrible my service was. I came for the tips and dipping powder removal + cut-off manicure with basic natural nail polish. So she soaked off my nails in acetone for about 40 minutes, removed dipping powder, then without washing my hands after acetone, she put coconut oil on my hands and started rubbing it into my hands. Then she finally asked me to go wash hands and when I came back, I noticed that she is already with another customer and doing a pedicure ("I was like: WTF?" but I politely asked if she will finish my manicure and she answered that we are done but she can file round corners) which she DID, but as you see on the photos it wasn't done at all (I don't even talk about cuticle and the nail polish that I ask for. I didn't ask the name of the master, but I will never come back there for sure, so doesn't even matter. I am so disappointed. read more

This place is pretty legit. I went with a friend who is getting married. We both had a cucumber pedicure which was really relaxing and perfect after a stressful today. I had Amy who did a nice job on both my pedicure and gel manicure. My friend had Bella as her nail technician who knocked it out of the park with her nails. The wine was a really nice touch. The other pros are 7% discount with cash, specials, and happy hour prices. The only reasons I'm knocking off a star is that when I entered in, I felt extremely rushed to pick out a color by my lady and didn't even get a few minutes to myself to look. Its probably my biggest pet peeve at nail salons, and I was about ten minutes late stuck in good old rush hour traffic from work, and it wasn't the greatest start for me. After that though it was very nice and relaxing, and I will come back. Bella is due any day now so I'm bummed out I won't get to enjoy her artistic nail work for a few months. read more

Got my nails done here with Pauline today! She was wonderful and did a great job. I got a regular pedicure and upgraded to have her really go to town on the dead skin on my feet and it was heavenly. I also got a hot stone massage and a sugar scrub and felt utterly rejuvenated. For my manicure, we did an SNS powder. I found the perfect bright peachy pink polish for my toes but unfortunately it didn't have a matching sns. The staff up front did their best to try and match it as close as they could and I ended up with a bright red-orange which is definitely summery. I would love if they could get some peachy colors in in the future! But I'll enjoy this one on my trip to the beach this weekend. Pretty much will never go here again. My 2 girlfriends took me here yesterday to get my nails done for my upcoming wedding. We all got a regular mani and dip powder manicure. Unsanitary-They did not pour out powder into a separate canister for me to use. They basically dipped my finger in the same canister that they would dip other customers fingers. All of my nail buff particles is now mixed in with everyone elses. Lacks quality-The dip powder is piled high near my cuticles and the high angle is unnatural. I asked if she could drill/buff down the angle and she said no. I also saw dust particles painted unto 2 of my nails. She buffed those out and fixed it. After she was done she got up and went to the back of the store, I think she was avoiding me so that she won't have to fix anything else. Also, when I got home, I noticed that the nail polish wasn't painted to the inner edges of my toes. Rushed service-My girlfriend was rushed by the staff and she didn't feel comfortable taking her time to pick out her nail color. Just so you all know Its safe ..they are taking all precautions here...by appointment only... Upon arrival they will be taking your temp.... and you must wash your hands ...and of course you must wear a mask. Alittle over a handful of technicians. Every other manicure station being used. Theres now acrylic between you and your technician. They move other acrylic dividers on wheels around to keep all apart and safe from one another- especially when getting a pedicure. The pedicures do vary in time depending on which you may choose. Along with which procedure is your liking. So its difficult to use every other chair during this process. I was happy to get an much, much needed appointment. Practically 3 months of no service. I was fortunate to get an appointment with my favorite technician Milly. The nail technician was rude, and did not make me feel welcome nor comfortable. Not only was she twisting my fingers unnaturally, she got upset when I adjusted my wrist. She insisted that I sat closer to the table and that I would be more comfortable. Says who? Then when I withdrew my fingers from the nail drying device because my fingers were burning, she insisted that I should put my fingers all the way into the machine. I looked around and noticed that only half of their seats were filled. I had hope that I could be fit in. When the front desk person checked me in, she assumed - without asking - that I was in a rush and gave me the earliest time that could fit me in for a "basic pedicure" at 11am. I asked for clarification on what a basic pedicure would be. "The basic service"....no explanation of what that would look like. I asked, "how long would it be". Thirty minutes. I was holding a pamphlet in my hand ready to spend money on their hour long pedicure. I would have settled with a 45 minute pedicure. I went here to get my acrylic nails removed (got them done at a different salon) and the staff at mint did a good job with the removal process. Even though it took longer than expected. I gave this place 2 stars bc the staff is really nice. I would give this salon an overall 1 star because my nails look like crap on day 2. I still have hang nails all over and the paint itself is sloppy. I would've had them redo it but I had to pick up my car and didn't want to wait. I've been here maybe once before but came here with no appointment on a Saturday just before lunch with a friend to get a pedicure and was seated immediately. I got GEL pedicure and my friend just got the regular basic pedi service. Overall I don't think id come back to this location for a couple reasons. 1. I do understand it is the weekend and you are in a high volume area but that shouldn't mean sacrificing on quality of the service, esp for unfamiliar faces that might want to become regulars 2. Service felt very rushed. Other people in the pedi stations were looking at each. other to see if their tech was working faster or slower than the person next to them. 3. Price for other salons in a 5 mile radius is high.. The only reason I came here was I was just post op from a back surgery and was staying at rthe archer hotel down the street. I feel like even though the tech I had didn't know I just had surgery ..I felt rushed to move from my chair the second the pedi was finished. I would have appreciated some minutes to better situate myself.. Lastly the front desk is just a blob of a mess. The amount of people in there vs the amount of ppl washing their hands at the sink when you walk in vs the people trying to come in and leave. It was a mess. It was my first time having them done and I was a little worried about how it would go, but Holly did amazing! I ended up keeping them for four weeks and the only reason I went for a fill was because of growth. No chipping or lifting at all on any of the nails. Sophie did a beautiful and efficient fill for me and I'm so pleased with the results I've been getting at Mint. Scheduling online is super easy too, just make sure you book out 2+ days in advance. I moved to the Mosaic area in 2019, and tried several places before landing on Mint Nail Lounge. They are professional with great customer service and the salon is very clean. I recently had Bella do my wedding nails and she did an amazing job! Shown in the photos are SNS ombré nails with tips and some sparkle. I did a trial about a month before so I could see how I'd like them, and when I came back she was so open to my changes, and even had recommendations of her own. She's very thorough and took the time to get my nails right, which I really appreciated since these were my nails for my big day! This review is 100% because of Bella. Normally I go to my close friend for all things nails. However, she is currently not working for two months and I decided to give Mint a try. I asked for Bella after reading through reviews and couldn't be happier! She is incredibly warm and friendly, and pays great attention to detail. I consider myself really type A, and often find small errors after I get my nails done but these are essentially perfect. The salon itself is very clean and thankfully incredibly cool on a hot day. I'm giving thee stars because my gel extension refill has only lasted less than 24 hours. Tracey did a nice job shaping my nails however I do have a cut on my ring finger two uneven nails that I expressed needed to have "repair" not "refill" and now two broken gel extensions. I don't care which salon you go to, don't get gel extensions. They are a waste of money and difficult to remove (you can't soak them off you have to file them) not to mention they crack and break easily. It's a waste of money to do and they are not safe, in order to harden the nail techs have to use UV lighting. I'm done with them after this week. read more

I have been coming to Mint since it opened (lived in Mosaic when all that was there was the Vantage apartments and a dilapidated movie theater). I have had several racially tinged incidents that made my black girl spidey sense say hmmmm, but today they crossed a line and I will never go back. The front desk staff chased my mother and I down the street and accused us of not paying her bill. My mom of course had paid (and tipped well) before her manicure as she did not want to fumble with her wallet before her nails completely dried. The staff never checked with the technician that serviced my mother and didn't do the bare minimum of checking their own records. And they were not appropriately apologetic (I had to tell the front desk girl to beg pardon and she was mighty flippant while doing it). If they are willing to accuse a 70 year old, retired federal prosecutor of being a thief, they will do it to you too. Black and brown girls spend your money elsewhere. read more

I wanted to wait at least 2 weeks before writing this review to see how my nails faired through all the extra hand washing and hand sanitizer uses these days. Fortunately, I got the opportunity to get a gel manicure before the salon temporarily closed due to forced closure by the government because of COVID-19. I wish I knew my nail technician's name because she did such a fabulous job with my nails. I consider my natural nails a bit more difficult to work with as I have long nail beds (more time and polish required) and have curved nails (more work to get the edges and crevices). See photos! She had some difficulty drawing an eye design like the photo that I showed her so she ended up wiping it off and having a colleague paint it on instead. They were really nice about making sure I was happy with it. The salon itself is very modern looking and appears very clean. I was offered a beverage upon checking in which is always nice. Mint offers weekday happy hour specials on certain services so you don't have to feel as bad to treatyoself! This time I took my husband along for his second pedicure ever and he loved it - said his experience was really pleasant, considering his first time in a Miami nail salon was great too! No he keeps asking if he should cut his own nails etc or wait until his next trip to Mint! We're looking forward to the time when social distancing will be a thing of the past and we'll be able to enjoy Mint Nail Lounge again! read more

I asked the front desk lady for help cleaning them as I was leaving. She wiped a wet paper towel over my items and said "oh yeah that's not coming off."
