I used to come here when the owner worked here and the nail techs would do a good job. Now that the owner is mostly in Petaluma the nail tech I went to did a horrible job. She was really rough, she didn't push down my nail bed. When I asked she said "Not there yet" then ended up cutting me!. Then when I left I realized she didn't file under/sides of my nail so I had the glue stuck to my skin underneath the acrylic. There's more that goes wrong here. Never going back here again... friend and I went there today and the pedicure was great and only took about 35 minutes. My friend on the other hand got a horrible experience. She got a gel manicure and it took them about an hour, maybe LONGER. The girl doing them kept messing them up, over and over again. On top of that, you can see her actually nail through the gel polish and they let her walk out with her nails looking horrible!! She was going to pay with a gift card that she got from there.... not knowing that there is a 6 MONTH EXPIRATION DATE... FOR A GIFT CARD?!?!?! She was only 10 days late... once again not knowing gift cards expired. It was worth $40 and they only gave her $20 off instead of her whole $40. This is the last time I ever go there... I have a love/hate relationship with this place. The Nail Bar is ALL about atmosphere. Its the nicest salon in the North Bay and they serve wine. However, the 2 times Ive had my nails done here, they were badly done. 1st time the technician did my gel manicure in a hurry, she left my nails in different shapes and jagged. Terrible. I fell in love with this nail salon from the moment I made a spontaneous decision to have my nails done on my back home to Santa Rosa from work in Ukiah. Kimmie did my nails. She does a wonderful job and incredibly friendly attitude, love her! She is the reason I even wanted to return. If I had not had Kimmie do my nails that first time I would not have returned. They also have great pedicures and options for pedicures. I do recommend this nail salon and for you to try for yourself.(I suggest if you do try Nail Bar you request Dewey or Kimmie, the owners. Dewey is normally at Windsor and Kimmie is in Petaluma at their new salon. Note: They may not be there for awhile they are about to have a baby.) I am a very picky person and have no problem paying for services but I like my nails not to lift within a week, break within a week and to have acceptable customer service. All of my experiences at Nail Bar have not been perfect and all have not been horrible. They are only human and well everyone makes mistakes, I fully understand that and accept that. When mistakes have been brought to the owner's attention they will resolve the situation quickly. (Obviously, I have experienced that.) Now, the reason why we will not be returning to Nail Bar. I had made an appointment for Feb. 10th at 9:30 am on Jan. 28. My daughter's friend also joined us and she received a full set. The girls got their nails done. ok, great. During my pedicure, I inquired if Dewey was going to be here soon... During the course of my pedicure, multiple walk-in customers came in, it got to the point that they had started to "say" they were only accepting appointments but this seemed to be selective. They were in no way staffed for the number of people who actually had an appointment to the number of walk-in clients that they had seated to wait for services. At the end of my pedicure, I was finally informed that Dewey would not be in. (Ok not a problem, he is about to be a father soon.) That left Lady A and Lady B. Lady B, speaks and understands very little English and does only "ok" work. Lady A, also does only "ok" work but the last two times that she had done my nails they lifted in less than a week and she would not listen to how I like my nails. She is the reason that I had taken a break from getting my nails done. I am currently pregnant with my second child and during my resent last two visits, Lady A had argued with me (while helping other customers) that I had more than one child because I was pregnant last time she saw me and that I am always pregnant. (I am pretty sure that I would remember if I had more than one child, pretty sure I would recall that, just saying....) I was told that Lady B would be doing my pink & white fills. I said no because I knew that the work would not be to my liking. So I agreed to Lady A. (Keep in mind, I had made an appointment) Right when my pedicure is complete, Lady A takes a walk-in and says I will have to wait 15 minutes. I know this is complete BS she just started this ladies nails and they have also been telling all walk-ins that "it will be 15 minutes". It was made very clear that she was in no way interested in helping me (ok, fine I do not have to spend any more of my money here). I told the person who did my pedicure, "nevermind I will go to another salon and have my fill done." As I am paying at first I was only charged for my pedicure. I brought it to her attention that I also had a fill and a full set. I was holding my receipt for the pedicure and she tried to charge me twice for it. Simply mistake she came in late and was not aware that the girls were also with me. This was just not helpfully to the situation. As we were on our way to our car the receptionist came running out of the salon to tell us that Lady A said she would have time to do my fill at 4:30 pm. (You're kidding me right?! I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT 9:30 AM! I should not have to return later in the day because you do not have time to do my nails during the time that I had scheduled my appointment. What is the use of even making an appointment if I HAVE to come back???!!!!) I let the receptionist know that no, we will not be returning at all. I ended up at another salon in Santa Rosa to complete a "day at the salon" that should have been done at my first stop... I loved this salon so much that I decided to have my bridal nails done here (even planned on the design with my favorite person) and had already made the appointment months in advance. Yes, I canceled that appointment today. There is no regard for a client that makes appointments in advance. I am not sure about anyone else but I make appointments so that I can request certain people and not have a very long wait and actually enjoy a day in the salon. read more

I was a long time customer of nail bar but unfortunately they have lost not only me but my mom and my sister. First they raised their prices without telling their regular customers or posting the prices anywhere. The last time I was in I got the nail dip and 3 days later my nails had started to chip and peel. They didn't even last a week! $45 for chipped nails i don't think so! When I arrived there was no one there but with in 15 minutes 4 customers walked in and I new my nails were about to be rushed. They used to be so good and I loved going there but now it is sad that they are more focused on making fast money rather than the quality of their work. WARNING - NOT COVID-19 COMPLIANT!!! Well, thought it would be a good idea to head to the salon and get a mani/pedi with my wife however that was a bad idea! Here's why: 1- When we came in, we were told to pick a color (this is NOT compliant with the COVID-19 guidelines) 2- secondly, the lady doing my wife's pedicure dropped the tools out the package and tried to use them on her without sanitizing them. When my wife asked for clean ones, the lady went to the back, came back with the same ones in her hand. My wife had to tell her no several times before she got up and brought out another sealed pack. 3- once the nail tech was done with my pedicure, she handed the white polish used on me to another nail tech to use on another guest. No washing. No sanitizing no NOTHING! 4- the bag that house the lotion, oil and other essentials they use for pedis was taken from one guest to the next and absolutely NOTHING in the carry bag was sanitized. I mean NOTHING! 5- once they were done, they went right to the next guest without washing their hands. 6- told the guy working the front desk and he seemed uninterested and just saying "yea yea thank you for the feedback. That's good we should sanitize the polish" He said this as if no one had told him yet when I get to the car to leave a review, I read TWO other reviews that say the same thing! I will be reporting this nail salon to the board of cosmetology. I am a repeat customer that has always had a pleasant experience coming to this place. I planned a small retreat for myself and 3 other coworkers today and highly recommended this place. The owner, Kim, is always going above and beyond to make everyone happy or give honest recommendations. Upon arrival, they sat us right away. It was very clear and evident that the owner was out for the day. As we sat there attempting to have a conversation, we became annoyed with the workers. One woman was extremely loud and obnoxious! I don't speak their language but body language and timing was all I needed to know that they were talking about us and laughing at us. It is so incredibly disrespectful to make a customer feel uncomfortable. One of my coworkers asked the woman doing her nails if she could add another coat of the polish, to which she agreed in an annoyed manner. As she continued to do her nails, she would pull her arm in an aggressive manner and rudely tap her hand when she wanted to switch hands. Nail salons are supposed to have a relaxing atmosphere. This was nothing like that! It felt like we interrupted a party. My mom and daughter and Icame here on Mothers day to get Mani/pedis. This was actually my mom's first pedi!!! She is pretty short and always felt uncomfortable going and maybe not reaching the water. Wow, so disappointed with this business. Came in with three girlfriends for pedicures & one friend also got a hand polish change. The pedicures were fine but my friends polish change was horrible, see the picture for reference...it really speaks for itself. You can still see her red nail polish from before and the polish was totally patchy, not a solid color, plus the polish didn't even go all the way down to her cuticles. My friend showed the woman her nails and asked for a refund for the polish change. The women said the only way we can refund you is if we take the polish off right now. Like really? How tacky is that. You have to take the polish off in order to get a refund? It's not like you can use it again. My friend told her she was in a rush and had an appointment, but the woman didn't care. She said "we will give you a free polish change next time". My friend lives 40 minutes away and didn't know if there would even be a next time. She sat there and argued with us for 5 minutes "go ahead and yelp me babe". Uhhh babe? How inappropriate to call a paying customer babe. I work in weddings and have referred wedding clients here in the past (even put them on my preferred vendor list). Imagine If they treated my brides the same way? Never again will I refer anyone here. I honestly can't believe how horribly they treated her just for $10! But I was trying to get in somewhere at the last minute and they were super nice and accommodating so I went for it. The water was cool - not cold but not even lukewarm. I asked her to make the water hotter and instead of draining the basin like every other nail salon does she scooped out all of the water by hand with a pitcher. This took a long time. Then she refilled it with slightly warmer lukewarm water. She cut my foot using a callus removal tool that looks like a cheese grater (I have the same one at home). The polish looked good. One of the worst nail jobs I have ever had. I went in to get a gel manicure on Thursday and the lady who did them rushed me. She didn't let the polish cure enough so they bubbled up and ended up popping the next morning in class so I got black nail polish every where. Now I got them redone in hopes that that was just a fluke. These are my nails today. Almost all of them are chipped or cracked. This is Gel! Mine usually last up to three weeks! I told her I was looking for a new salon and that I might bring my daughter and come back another day. The place looks amazing and clean but I guess the only downfall was the service we received from some of the staff. Granted, I came with a bunch of ladies, because we were celebrating with a girlfriend of our's who was about to get married, and some of the staff was plainly letting us know how annoyed they were of us because 4 out of 7 girls were running five minutes behind schedule..Especially mine in particular. During the pedicure process, she was quiet and did a good job but when it was time to do my gel manicure...I showed her a picture to copy..and I said I wanted a silver glitter color on both nails. Instead, she paints it with a greenish glitter color and I cringe but silently put up with it. I gained courage after a girlfriend of mine told me to say something if I'm not happy with it..so I did..then the manicurist got really upset! She told me that would be the last time she would change it and that's it!..So, I said OK..was it so bad that I spoke up? I was gonna drop more than $60 that day..so I felt I need to be happy with the end results. And I was...it was just unfortunate that I had to deal with an upset manicurist at the same time.
