They have a little market beside the check in counter in case you need snacks, drinks, etc. I will say, I was looking for some headache pills and they did not have any at the store. I asked the workers at the counter and they went looking amd realized they dis not have any in stock which is a bummer and weird as this is a hotel and you would think they would be stayed stocked up. Breakfast was offered for free from 7-10am. Consisted of cereal, oatmeal, milk, juices, eggs, sausage, bagels, coffee, the normal. Room was very clean, modern and spacious. TV was working and offered a variety of channels to choose from. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in the area. Plenty of restaurants and shops within walking and driving distance as well.

This remodel was absolutely stunning. It has a very modern feel and because of the white, grey, lavender aesthetic, and effective lighting, everything just honestly seemed amazing. I'm a clean freak and often feel uneasy in hotels, but when I tell you it was peaceful--just wow! The rooms are spacious, the bathroom has numerous amenities, and I just enjoyed the water bottle dispenser to use on each floor for filtered water. If you have a layover, look no further. In fact, you might even extend your stay once your head hits those pillows!

The tickets can be amazingly inexpensive. HOWEVER. It seems a lot of places don't HAVE a Terminal for Megabus. My wife and I had a 3-hour layover in Atlanta standing on a very bad part of Peachtree St. in 35-45 degree weather from 9 p.m. to Midnight. NO TOILETS, NO FACILITIES, NO FOOD, NO PLACE TO SECURE LUGGAGE. And seven hours later, when our bus finally arrived in Memphis, we found that the waiting area was CLOSED without notice ''due to construction'', and we had to stand outside AGAIN for 3 hours in 40 degree weather with no seating, no toilets, no luggage storage and no food. I'M A TYPE 2 DIABETIC and Megabus didn't have a decent food stop for me between Atlanta and central Arkansas, more than 14 hours. Megabus needs to spend some damn money on infrastructure, and have a real Terminal with security guards, a real Waiting Area and real rent-by-the-hour luggage lockers in EVERY city. ASAP. Until then, Megabus is a great deal if one is only traveling from one city to another, but if one has to make multiple transfers, one can get put into some very sketchy skid row sort of places that are not safe for young people travelling alone or the elderly with no place to sit and no bathrooms.

After our tasting we purchased a bottle of Diamond Girl Red to enjoy on property. It made for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.

And, she saved me the inconvenience of checking out early to find another hotel for my stay. Couple other special mentions go to Jose and Jessica for their guest service attitude being top notch! Jose, the restaurant manager, is awesome. He's friendly and accommodating. I showed up 15 minutes before they closed to get breakfast once and I wasn't turned away! He even brought it up to my room, so it would not get cold when it was ready. Thanks, sorry I forgot to tip! Oops. Jessica, who works the front desk, is so sweet and friendly. She was helpful and had a sincere smile while trying to accommodate any special requests. Let's go back to the checkin process, I arrived early and simply asked if my room was available for an early checkin. I had been traveling for over half a day (14 hours) across the country (without sleep) in a car and an airplane with my toddler. We really needed to freshen up and rest. [**The Rude One**] who was training Jessica did not ask my name, look at my reservation, nor offer any other options - she simply replied that no rooms are available for early checkin because they had a sold out night last night. I was told to come back at 3 o'clock, at regular checkin time. [It was noon.] So, I went back out to the car where my bestie was watching my son. She did not like that at all, so we all went back inside. At the least, I HAD to change & clean up my son and use the restroom myself. (The one at the airport baggage claim area was closed!) So, I asked if the hotel could store my luggage and if I could use the lobby facilities while we waited for the room. Yes. Yay! I gave my name and the bags. A few moments later, Bridget came up to the front to assess the situation. I was in the restroom, but my friend was sitting in the front area waiting (& being my listening ears). Bridget told Jessica to look at my stay (weeklong reservation and to do this & that) in order to get me into a room ASAP. One call to housekeeping is all it took and when I came out of the restroom, I was given the keys to my room. Thank God!! I was exhausted. Sandra, the assistant manager, was very quick and helpful when my room's door malfunctioned on day 4 of our stay. Unfortunately, being a Sunday and no maintenance on site, the solution was to switch rooms. But, Room 209 was very clean and has an amazing A/C unit in it! She offered a King Suite - an upgraded room that was ready. Okay, fine. Room 316 was an upgrade, but the bathroom smelled like an ashtray. Ugh. This non-smoker's nose is too sensitive for that! We finally settled into 309 which was exactly like our first room. It had just been cleaned. Few old stains in the carpet, damage on the bathroom door, and the lingering odor of perfume in the bathroom from the previous guest(s) - but, it was acceptable. The door lock mechanism worked! Yay! The A/C worked very well. Yes!! It was annoyingly noisy at times! Oh well. It was better than no/low A/C in the summertime in NC. Thanks to Bridget, I'd definitely stay again.

Let's start with the good: The hotel team are friendly and thoughtful. The Manager, Brian, even allocated a dining room to me to take a long meeting, which was just awesome. Rooms are clean, and the hotel is charming. They are clearly leaning in on the old school vibe, and we were digging it. Considerations: The old elevator is super cool and vintage, but we took it only when required with luggage. Neat experience but made me nervous every time I used it. YMMV on this one! The hotel could use some upgrades and modernization which would mix old with new: Many switches with no connected lights, upgrade of in room phones and rework of electrical outlet options. The back steps are a bit steep, but it was not at all a problem for me and my husband on the 2nd floor. Finally, the location is terrific. Greensboro is not large, and staying downtown gives you access to all the areas. Biltmore is in an awesome spot. Try Natty Greeen's and Cheesecakes by Alex! They're literally around the corner. In summary: The hotel could use some freshening but it is super clean. The staff and vibe is very cool, and location is pretty great overall (down the block from Natty Greene's!).

And I implore the powers that be to keep that old elevator as is! Everything in our life does not have to be modernized. One stays here for the old world quaintness. My room contained a lovely four poster bed, wall full of windows and antique furnishings, as well as more modern amenities like a flat screen TV and coffee maker. The best part, though, is the fact that the location of this hotel is right where you want to be, steps away from all the food, coffee and bars on S Elm and a two block walk to Amtrak. There's a wine hour (and the gal at the front desk even offered to bring some out after I missed it) as well as breakfast (also missed that). I can't imagine staying elsewhere when in Greensboro.
