Delta Airlines is built on deceit. Delta sells pricey tickets only to have you go through TSA, wait until after boarding time to inform you, your flight has been delayed or cancel. I used to be a LOYAL Delta passenger but after they canceled my connecting flight to see my dad before his early am surgery. He died. Due to Deltas lies and deceit about their flight times and schedules, I have to deal with the trauma of being stranded in ATL because of Delta and not being there for my father. This is daily trauma meanwhile Delta still lying about the flight schedules. Stranded again by Delta read more

We have always had a great travel experience with delta. The direct flight from RDU to Las Vegas was very convenient for our holiday travel. I love that the aircraft has charging outlets at every seat. The movie selection is larger than many international airlines I have travelled. I also love that they give free headphones. They offered 2 full beverage services during our 4.5 hour flight and one water and one coffee service. Crew is excellent. read more

Delta is one of the airlines I fly the most. My wife and I mostly have good experiences with Delta, including out of and into RDU (Raleigh-Durham International Airport). Less than two weeks ago, I had one of my worst Delta experiences out of RDU. I wasn't surprised because, as has been well-documented (https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/17/podcasts/the-daily/airlines-summer-travel-delay-cancellations.html), summer 2022 has been rough for air travel. That's especially been the case for RDU. According to FlightAware data for the period May 28 through July 13, 2022, RDU had the fourth-highest percentage of flight cancellations in the country. WRAL article: https://www.wral.com/rdu-ranked-among-worst-us-airports-for-cancellations-and-delays-this-summer/20379278/. From the article, "'Our flight schedule, along with weather and shortages at airlines and air traffic control, combine to create a perfect storm of challenges that disproportionately affect RDU,' said RDU Director of Media Relations Stephanie Hawco." My wife and I didn't deal with a flight cancellation, but multiple delays caused us to leave RDU, go back home, and come back early the next morning. We were bound for Oakland, California and were ultimately delayed 12 hours. Our original itinerary had us leaving RDU in the 7pm hour and arriving in SLC (Salt Lake City International Airport) in time to make a connection to arrive in OAK (Oakland International Airport) by midnight. The outbound flight to SLC ended up getting delayed at least 2-3 times and wouldn't depart until the 10pm hour. My wife had multiple calls with Delta customer service agents. In an effort to help us make our connection in SLC, an agent rerouted us and put us on a flight from RDU to BNA (Nashville International Airport) then BNA to SLC. All set, right? Wrong. Our RDU to BNA flight then got delayed by at least one hour due to a late-arriving flight attendant. The captain of that flight came out to the gate twice to give us updates. He promised us it was not the flight attendant's fault, but a scheduling error/miscommunication. I really don't care what the reason for a flight delay is as long as I get to my destination with little or no delay. In the end, there was no way we were making it from RDU to OAK that night. We were then rebooked on a completely different itinerary for the next day, a 6:45am flight out of RDU into ATL (Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, our other home), then ATL to SFO. We wasted 12 hours. Who or what was to blame? Delta? RDU? Someone or something else? Delta gave us $30 in meal vouchers to use inside airports, but not all vendors accepted them. After chatting with a Delta agent online via Delta's website, I was able to get $200 in travel vouchers. Better than nothing. It would've been nothing if I didn't put forth the effort to ask (that took about 30-45 minutes). Something Delta can improve upon is actually having in-person agents staff the Delta Help Center at RDU. Inside security, RDU's Delta Help Center is located inside Terminal 2, next to Gate D5. After our original outbound flight from RDU was delayed to the point of misconnection, my wife and I walked to the Help Center only to find no Delta employees inside. What was there was a wall of telephones (to speak to an agent) and some self-serve kiosks. Yikes. Perhaps this is an example of the staffing issues the airline industry is currently dealing with, post-pandemic. read more

10/6/22 - I haven't flown in 13 years, so I was anxious to say the least. Moving thru the airport was a bit daunting too, but it didn't take long to get to the Delta gate. We had an early morning flight, so we had just enough time to relax before they started boarding the plane. I got a window seat and they have tvs to watch now in the headrest in front of you. They didn't have that back in the day, so that was a plus for me. It was a 4 hr flight, so I watched about 2 movies. They gave out snacks and drinks twice during my flight. They also gave headphones. The only thing I didn't like was how dirty the inside of the plane was. Dirt and spills all over. All the money they make, can't they clean/disinfect the plane??? Anyway, my experience wasn't that bad, but it wasn't the best either. I was blessed to make it to Vegas & the flight only ran into a few bumps as we flew. I will be flying back tomorrow, so I pray that things go smoothly again. read more

Absolutely unacceptable behavior and service from Delta Airlines. My family had an extremely frustrating and disrespectful experience at the Charlotte, NC airport that needs to be called out. When my father arrived in Charlotte, his baggage did not arrive with him. Upon asking Delta staff for help at the airport, my family approached two women working at the baggage claim desk. From the very beginning, they were unprofessional, dismissive, and outright rude--despite the fact that my family remained respectful throughout the entire conversation. At one point, after one of the women asked my family a question, my younger brother (who is a minor) tried to respond calmly--and was yelled at by the other employee who shouted, "THAT'S WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO" while rolling her eyes at him. He wasn't being argumentative at all--just trying to help clarify, yet was met with hostility. Eventually, they told us the missing bag would arrive the next morning and be delivered to our home. My father provided our full address and showed his driver's license, which has the correct address printed clearly. The staff took this information--and still managed to deliver the bag to the wrong address over an hour away from us. We've now spent over two days calling Delta repeatedly to try and resolve this. Today, my father was again met with disrespect by another Delta representative, who yelled at him and blamed him for giving the wrong address--even though he showed his license with the correct one, and has lived at the same address for nearly 30 years. She then dismissed him by telling him to call a different number and refused to help further. My father has now been on hold for hours, and we still have no resolution, no apology, and no idea where the luggage is--luggage that was brand new and worth hundreds of dollars, and was packed for a family wedding we now might not be able to fully participate in. The complete lack of accountability, the disrespect, and the incompetence displayed by multiple Delta employees is beyond disappointing. Unfortunately, based on what I've heard from others who've dealt with Delta, I strongly believe this was not just bad service--it felt racially motivated, as we've heard similar stories from others who've been treated this way by Delta specifically. I would advise anyone considering flying Delta--especially families of color--to seriously reconsider. read more

I have been on 6 Delta flights this year. 4 of them have been international. The first was a flight to New York, then to Israel. Both of these flights were delayed for over an hour. Returning, the flights were delayed just a few minutes. The second was a flight to Paris. This one was delayed about 30 minutes after we had already boarded. We were early when we arrived, so we had to walk down some stairs and board a bus to get to the terminal. No fun. The return flight was delayed about an hour due to not enough toilets working!!!! But at least they let us wait in the airport rather than on the plane. All the flight attendants were great except one...a young man that never once cracked a smile or sounded pleasant. Had to take another airline from Paris to Florence and it was AWFUL!!! read more

We haven't flown with Delta in a while and were impressed by their service and comfort. Our gate was moved about 20 minutes before boarding. We clearly heard the announcement and moved a few gates down. The Delta employee at this gate was incredible. I wish I caught his name because he was so helpful and enthusiastic. Boarding started on time and moved quickly. The flight was shorter than expected and we had snacks and beverages served. The seats were surprisingly spacious (not even comfort plus seats). The optional light above the seats was bright and the fan worked well. Plus there was a TV on each seat back. The friendly hostesses passed out complimentary headphones prior to the flight. We landed early and exited the plane smoothly. Overall, we had a great flight with Delta and recommend them to others! read more

I haven't flown Delta in decades, with reason. While the direct flights appear "short" and fares may be low, there are always unexpected delays returning to your original destination and I have never been impressed by what they offer. Passengers are always clueless about what to pack and what not to as a carry-on, this often irks the crew and there are always unnecessary delays as a result. My aircraft flying into New York City was extremely cramped and uncomfortable. It was a much smaller plane. Seats were highly uncomfortable very similar to riding on a coach bus ! Terrible. While the crew was professional and lively, and the flight was only 1 hour, the experience was just lacking. I did appreciate the salted almonds, humor when we landed from the flight attendant who played Alicia Keys' & Jay-Z's New York on the loud speaker. However, I don't think I will fly with Delta again any time soon. read more

Considering that I don't live in the Raleigh Durham area, RDU remains one of my top non-hub airports. I've landed or departed from RDU 7 times this year and each time, it has been a more than decent experience. This week, there was a ticket agent that helped me tremendously with a check-in problem I was having. I had two separate itineraries, not linked, because I bought one five months ago and the other a week ago. She couldn't fix it with her terminal but made the calls to Delta HQ and got it resolved. Awesome and friendly and helpful! I've never had any real problems here. Boarding is quick, luggage is quick (I did get my 2500 mile "20 minutes guarantee" once), and everyone is helpful. Five stars because RDU has a Delta SkyClub! [Review 12493 overall, 2283 of 2019.] read more

Was on one of their small planes (2 seats on each side) which standard baggage doesn't fit in overhead bins so got it checked at the boarding gate. Of course the seats were cramped so not too comfortable. The flight attendant seemed annoyed so couldn't give many points for service from her. Twice when I've flown Delta out of RDU, my flight has been delayed. Both times were due to weather, and not Delta's fault, but they took responsibility. One of those times, I was in the air when I received notification through their app that they had booked me on a new connecting flight (there was no doubt I would miss my original connecting flight). I didn't have to do a thing! The other time, a staff member worked on the phone for almost an hour to get me the next best flight. I wish Delta didn't charge for checking bags ($50) and changing flights ($200, unless it's their responsibility). My tip: I usually find if you don't check your bag, they will offer to check it for free at the gate, because they rarely have room for all of the carry ons. I always take advantage of this. read more

For those thinking of booking with Delta, just don't. I wish I could give them zero stars that's how terrible their customer service is. They couldn't find our reservation today (after spending 2+ hours back in Feb trying to get it scheduled), so we had to spend our entire afternoon rectifying THEIR mistake, just to be spoken down to and receive absolutely no compensation for all of the trouble. Apparently they find it okay to just remove paying customers' confirmations randomly and are convinced we should be okay with wasting our days trying to resolve it. Now I'm worried that they still won't be able to locate our reservation when checking in for the flight... I truly hope we never have to result in flying with them again. I'd rather give my business to literally any other airline. read more

Delta Airlines - Just a small part of a much lengthier chat. - Airlines Near Me - Morrisville, North Carolina

Delta don't care! My flight was originally scheduled for 8:16pm June 18th. Delta rescheduled my flight 5 times with no explanation. Finally boarded shortly after midnight only to sit for Adm hour and then deboard because the pilot had hit his max hours. They boarded the whole plane onto another plane where the pilot had volunteered to take us home. Say for another hour waiting for paperwork and fuel. This pilot then also hit max hours and we had to deboard again. It's now 3am and the flight attendant is rescheduling the entire plane. I called corporate customer service to complain and ask for a refund because this is now costing me money. Scheduling customer service called back, listened to my entire nightmare of a story and told me to call another number. I called and that number said that they couldn't take my call and to go online to lodge a complaint. I'll be doing that shortly. We arrive to the RDU airport and curbside couldn't check our bag because there was a message that we needed to see Delta special services. Kim Ariel asks what can she do for me. I handed her my boarding pass that they had given me the night before, explained that curbside said I needed to see her to check my bag. Very rude lady, looks at me and says why? I'm not sure, I said, but then I went in to explain what had happened the night before. She said well you should want us to cancel your flight instead of putting you in the air with an unsafe pilot that might be sleepy. I said, yes, I agree with that. She snaps her neck and said "so what you want me to do?" I simply want to get home so now I'm livid of course and typing this out. Delta don't care. Don't fly Delta. read more

Delta has a huge presence here at RDU, and fortunately enough for me, I have been able to use our reciprocal cabin agreements several times to get to where I'm going. I usually fly southwest. It's easy, cheap, laid back, etc. This one time I book with delta I get to reserve a seat with my bf. We carefully chose our seats upon reservations more than a month ago. We are traveling on a holiday weekend so we wanted to be extra prepared. We both checked into our flight and for some reason his boarding pass had a different seat number than what we had reserved. After approaching the kiosk at the gate, the rep was rude and curt. She chocked it up to "equipment swap" and the holiday weekend. What exactly is the point of a reservation and seat selection if you can't keep your seat? The excuse she gave was poor and it didn't help that her flat affect and abrupt manner of speaking just put me off entirely. I'll only ever fly Delta if its the only last flight and its an emergency... This is only one of many negative experiences I consistently have with delta. read more

Delta airlines has option when purchasing your ticket that basically acts as insurance. You pay $50 dollars extra so that if for any reason you need to reschedule or are late to your flight, they will work with you to get you on another flight that day or reschedule for a different day with no charge. Long story short, I was ON TIME to my flight. They started boarding and I was last in line. When I go to scan boarding pass I realize I left my bag at seat. I turn and grab my bag and back in line within 45 seconds. (That's being generous) when returned the door is closed and he tells me he can't let me on plane due to me being LATE. I was there less than a min ago and they were going to let me on. After arguing for several mins and realizing they aren't going to let me on. I tell them ab my "insurance" and how I should be able to get another flight today free of charge. They proceed to tell me that they can only put me on a flight tomorrow as all other flights are full. DELTA AIRLINES WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY AND THEY DO NOT STICK TO THEIR WORD!!! read more

One would think that customer-facing personnel at the ticket counter would have some expertise or know who to call for help navigating international travel requirements. Worst customer service and airline I have ever experienced. We bought our tickets June 2018 for December 20th 2018. The flight was changed more than 6 times and eventually cancelled making us reschedule and forcing us to change plans. The non stop flight we bought was changed to a connecting flight. The first flight was 2 hours late, making us miss the connecting flight. We were told owell and scheduled in the afternoon to our destination. We were supposed to arrive in Orlando at 6 am originally and after everything, we arrived after 6pm. They also lost our baggage. Customer service didn't accommodate, didn't give us the time of day when we expressed concerns, and when we asked for a supervisor, we waited 15 minutes and eventually walked away because they never showed up.
