    Nicest part of the room.
    John P.

    Somewhat of a disappointing stay. The room I got assigned was quite disappointing. It all started immediately upon entering the room with what I can only describe as a really strong musty odor. As soon as I got a look at the air conditioner in the room I could understand why. I don't know how anyone could think this is an ok room to assign to anyone. The daily housekeeping was also a disappointment. It appears they didn't care to refill the coffee. I ended up having to call the front desk. There was also food leftover in my fridge from who knows when. The bed was also a disappointment. Not really comfortable at all and the pillows were way way too soft. The shower is the only reason to give this 2 stars instead of 1. In fact the bathroom itself was the best part of this stay. I'm not sure I would choose to stay here again.

    I usually stay at the Delta hotel but this visit I stayed here. The staff is really nice especially the bar supervisor whose name escapes me. The property itself could use a bit of an update but I have found this to be the case with a lot of Marriott properties the common areas are current but the rooms are give little to be desired. I loved that they offered a good mock-tail menu and the food was really good here. I dont know if I would stay here again but I will eat at the restaurant again ;

    One of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept on!

    I was in Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC for a week and stayed at Marriott RTP. I'm giving them five stars for the following reasons: 1. Check-in/check-out was quick. Pro tip: Take the complimentary shuttle from RDU airport to the hotel and back, instead of calling Uber/Lyft/taxi. It saves you $15 one-way. However, the complimentary shuttle only runs during weekdays. 2. Room was spacious and fairly clean. I should note that there was a used plastic glass by the window when I came in, and clearly the housekeepers forgot to throw it away, but no biggie. 3. Bed was super comfortable! Seriously, very comfy. 4. Amenities. There's a gym. And an indoor pool. And a business center. 5. Location is alright. It's a good 15-minute drive from downtown Durham. 6. Room service was quick. I ordered food one night and it was delivered to my room earlier than anticipated. And the lady was very sweet. 7. Staff was friendly. From receptionists to housekeepers, to the servers at the bar. Everyone went out of their way to make sure I had a pleasant stay at Marriott. Will I come back? Yes, of course! Thanks for a wonderful stay, Marriott!

    I don't think I can fully put into words how awful my stay at this Marriott property was. I have been a loyal Marriott customer for over 7 years and have been a Titanium Elite member for the last two years. I was in a bit of a bind as my flight was delayed out of Raleigh causing me to miss my connecting flight in LaGuardia. Rather than sleep in an airport (which maybe I should have done), I decided to stay in Raleigh. I found this Marriott and it had a deluxe corner room with a king size bed, which was perfect since I was trying to make the best of a not so great situation. The staff were friendly when I arrived. They gave me my room number, and I went up to it, only to find out that I was not in a corner room. I sent a message to the front desk and they stated that, "That was not part of my reservation". Mind you, it cost extra for that room. I called Titanium Elite support, who could see that my reservation, did indeed have corner room on it. They called the hotel and they offered to refund the rate difference. I told them that I booked this room because it was a larger corner room. If one wasn't available, it should not have been listed on their website. They told me to hold on and they would see what they could do. 15 minutes later, they come up and let me know there is a corner room available down the hall. Sounds great! I crash as soon as I get into the room as I have been traveling for 10 days straight and at this point, I am physically and mentally exhausted. When I wake up from my nap and check out the room, I find out that the blinds are broken, there is no hand soap in the bathroom, there are large food crumbs in the closet, as well as a light fixture with a glass bulb just sitting on top of the closet shelf. The light in the closet clearly didn't work. I tried to make the best of it as I am not one to complain. I figured I would just make the best of the 2 nights and move on. I asked the front desk if they had an extra power cord to the TV as the plug fit my laptop adapter as I forgot my charger before I left to travel. All the other Marriott properties I stayed at in the last week and a half easily got me an extra cord to borrow during my stay. The front desk told me there are no extra TV cords and that they can't remove a power cord from another room. Some of the rooms were under construction and no one could stay there, and yet, they could not use any of those cords. Heaven forbid someone's TV cord wasn't working. There are no extras! I told them about the missing amenities and the food crumbs in the room (mind you it is now 11:30 at night) and their response is, "We are sorry. We can move you again." I told them I am not moving to a third room when this clearly was a quick cover up for the fact that the room I booked wasn't available. They told me they would be more than happy to, "do anything to make my stay better". I told them that was impossible as I couldn't even get a simple power cord from them. I couldn't even watch TV as they only have cable TV (yes, you are reading this correctly). I will NEVER stay at this Marriott property again. I would rather sleep in an airport than to be disrespected by staff when they lied about my reservation until I called Elite support and were the most unaccomodating group of people I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I would avoid this hotel at all costs. Looks are deceiving! It looks nice on the outside and in the pictures, but the inside is a different story!

    The staff was really pleasant and polite. The property was ok but they are flawed in their cleaning measures. Please see my pictures

    Used to love this place. Currently undergoing renovations. DO NOT LIKE Walking in to face a wall. The lack of warmth and welcome you used to feel are replaced by a wall. When you were in the lobby you could see the bar area and dining room. But now that all been hidden behind a wall. Lobby area has changed greatly and is much smaller. Upon arrival in our room which by the way was not ready, we were told they would just put us in an ADA room. Not a problem. However, housekeeping did a horrendous job in our room. There were actual foot prints on the white duvet cover, and I'm not quite sure what bodily function happened on the pillowcases. When I took photos of the condition of our room down to the front desk to show them and complain the young lady said "I'll make note of it." Seriously? That's how you handle any customer let alone a lifetime titanium member? You left me in the filthy room? I stripped off the pillowcase and tossed it on the floor and I removed the duvet cover in the same manner. The new renovations took away dressers/closets in the room as well! Nowhere to store your luggage except in the much smaller room! And the bathroom????? My hubby and I are traveling and there are only two bath towels! How do they expect a female to shower and wash her hair with only one towel? Marriott has had so many issues since the merger. This filthy/unsanitary stay means I WILL NOT BE BACK. And the concierge lounge is still not open on weekends so you can't even get a bottle of water, soda and snack. One of the local college sports teams is staying here so they get the use of it exclusively! And here it is after midnight and the coaches/players/parents are all congregated around the pool talking loudly, yelling, etc.....I can hear their foul language up here on the 5th floor. The daytime manager tomorrow will not be wanting to speak to me. Please see photos of foul bodily fluids on pillowcase and shoe marks on duvet

The Durham Convention Center is attached and the Carolina Theare is next to it. DPAC was about a 10-minute walk if that and included waiting for the traffic signals. Valet parking is $30 a night, so I decided to find a place on the street again. So I got street parking right near the hotel for free as it was the weekend. I am not a fan of valet or of paying $30 for parking. There are parking garages nearby if you prefer that. The staff was very friendly and I felt treated very well here as a Titanium member with an early check-in, lounge access and free breakfast. I didn't see any snacks in the lounge this visit. For breakfast, you need to use your key to enter the lounge. Beverages are in the lounge, but you go to the restaurant buffet for the food. It is quieter in the lounge than where the restaurant is located. My room was on the other side of the building this time and I didn't hear the train once. Usually, when I use a free night certificate, I tend to be put in the worst room available. But thankfully, that wasn't the case here, my room had a large window with a lot of natural light. The room had the vinyl plank flooring to look like hardwood and the decor and furniture were up to date. My stay was very comfortable here. This is one of the nicer hotels I've stayed and look forward to my next visit. I can see coming here for a staycation.

The lobby is large with a bar that offers up a (very limited and price-gouging) Starbucks menu, with plenty of places to sit even if you're not ordering anything. Speaking of, I recommend you leave the hotel in search of coffee because my very basic iced espresso that's normally around 6 dollars at a Starbucks was 10 dollars here plus tip. My room was pretty basic, don't expect much in terms of a view even though the windows are large. Decent-sized, comfy beds/linens. No bathrobe in the room (not sure if you can ask for one). I was informed that I'd get access to breakfast/evening refreshments in the lounge but I didn't have time to partake so I can't report on that (nor the gym). While slightly dated in appearance and a little basic overall, I feel the location makes up for all of that. I also got it at a decent rate which helps.

It makes it ironic that pool view rooms are made to seem special because they are the motel rooms. They are also super loud because they overlook the Patio venue and have very thin walls. The furniture is quite dated, but they call it boutique. The rooms are not super clean. The bed was relatively comfortable for the quality of the property which is low. The lobby however is renovated and pretty nice looking. Walking into the lobby is a stark contrast from walking out to and into your room! They did not have breakfast available for our entire stay. They charge $1 for drip coffee "if you bring your own mug"! That had me laughing out loud. They didn't take the destination charges off our bill since we are globalists. The best feature of this property is the location. It's right in downtown Durham which is super cute! Go across the street to M Sushi or Queeny's for very different but both equally awesome food and experiences. Bottom line: If you need somewhere in downtown Durham to sleep and that's all, this spot will work.

The positives: * Convenient location, especially for Duke and medical visits * Spacious room with modern décor * Extra-large bathroom and generous vanity -- easily the best feature * Breakfast area was spacious and pleasant (food was standard Residence Inn fare) The problems: Sleep quality is a basic hotel expectation, and this property did not deliver. The HVAC unit was extremely loud and cycled on and off all night. There was no clear way to turn it off completely, and it repeatedly woke us up. The refrigerator was older and made a constant ticking/compressor noise. Between the two, restful sleep was nearly impossible. Parking added another layer of frustration. There are very few surface spaces, a very small garage, and guests are charged for parking on top of that. Charging for parking when availability is this limited feels unreasonable. Additionally, the shower was missing body wash upon arrival -- a small detail, but one that speaks to oversight. We reported the HVAC noise and missing body wash to Tiffany and a woman who appeared to be a manager (Scott). While both were polite, no Bonvoy points or other acknowledgment of the inconvenience were offered. The building is very long - we were at the far end and it helped us get our steps in! The room we were in was at the end in a corner and was an odd shape - literally no other way to put it. The bedroom was good size, the couch room was just a little small. We have three little dudes sleeping in there and they did just fine. I just required a little feng shui! The bathroom had a random fifth wall that the toilet sat on. Not a big deal, just different than we've seen elsewhere. Our room was right over the parking garage, which was also very awkwardly shaped. There's a spot at the far end that you need to back into as we found it impossible to three point into it. Again, not a show stopper, but good to know ahead of time. The overflow lot across the street was much more straightforward. There's nice sitting space, a lively bar and a good medium sized workout area. The breakfast was solid, the market delightful, the staff lovely and the grounds overall very nice. The reviews were promising (I thought I saw one or two reviews that stated parking was free or available on the street by the hotel). I booked the morning of my stay for a little over $142 (whereas JB Duke was $191 + free validated parking). I arrived around 5:30pm and parked in the retail shops parking just for my check-in and figured I'd either get free parking in AC's garage or find street parking later (was just dropping off my bag). As my check-in process was almost complete the staff member asked if I had a vehicle - I confirmed and she pulled out a card and asked that I place it in my dash, told me where the elevators were and wished me on my way. I read over the card while in the elevator and see that it's $20 per night for garage parking. I guess no biggie because even with a parking charge, the stay was still cheaper than JB Duke. The room was nice and clean and I was facing the street on the second floor (room 204). When I arrived back later that evening around 8pm I was able to find a parking spot quickly on the basement floor of the garage and entered the elevators to go to the 2nd floor. I checked out the gym as it was on my floor (ellipticals, pelotons maybe?, treadmills, rowing machine and free weights) - decent for a quick workout. I turned in for the night around 8:45 and the linens looked clean but didn't smell "fresh" and then noticed I could hear the dreaded stomping above me... and then I could hear the man next door hacking/clearing his throat. The man eventually stopped but the stomping basketball dribbling seemed to go on until 10:30pm. The lobby bar is also lively in the evenings and seems to attract a good crowd. Overall, a very comfortable and convenient stay.

Convenient garage parking included in your stay BUT if you're handicapped it's a walk to and from the garage Bellhop was friendly Onsite restaurant but it was expensive in my opinion Cons: Power outage Mediocre housekeeping- hairs in the shower Small bathroom Shower doors don't fully close Front desk staff provided zero information about the hotel and weren't very friendly Small rooms Would I stay here again? Probably not. Bed comfort is subjective but I didn't find the mattress comfortable and had a hard time sleeping. When I woke up my back was hurting. They had one scratchy, ratty robe in the room. No bag for dirty laundry and the tv was fuzzy. Another huge negative for me is there was no microwave in the room and the refrigerator was tiny. Overall, the value isn't there for me.
