Proximity Hotel should be at the top of your list of places to stay in Greensboro, NC! This employee owned hotel is beautiful and welcoming! We never walked in or out of the door without being recognized. The room was so spacious and clean and the amenities were great as well!

Hubby and I went to visit the beautiful Proximity Hotel in Greensboro, NC. I initially wanted to visit for New Years but didn't have time so we went for Valentines Day. The Proximity Hotel is the top sustainable hotel in the country and its employee owned. The hotel and rooms were beautiful, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the food was delicious!

Letter from the owner...sets the tone for your visit.

Nice hotel, great customer service by staff that actually have the benefit to buy in as owners as the hotel. The rooms are nice, the gym isn't much but has everything you need and the pool is cool. People go crazy over the Bistro...I don't it was good but not as great as they say BUT those crispy brussel sprouts...A-amazing!! My recommendation if you need to be in Greensboro this is the hotel for you! Didn't mention the living room areas outside of the room with complimentary drinks...non-alcoholic. Simply out great service, great rooms, good amenities and a great locations

After visiting this hotel restaurant two month's we were very eager to give this hotel a try. As, we arrive the front desk lady explained to us the deal we book online how it works. This was very helpful as we planned our credits for a two night stay. Proximity has a industrial look and feeling with a fairytale vibe. Supe cool right! Everything you need right at your fingertips from a cozy stay to all your meals. We barely spend money during stay due to the amazing deal they are offering right now. We ate at the restaurant a few times and room service. The food was very delicious and they also have a foot long wine list. Something for everyone. If you are looking for a trip with no strings attached stay here. Thank me later

Beautiful hotel. It gives you great Gatsby feels. I stayed here on a work trip. The service was great. The room was comfortable, although I wasn't a fan of the beds I slept ok. A big draw is the good food located in the most elegant restaurant connected the hotel. I would definitely visit this hotel again. So much charm and elegance.

Private dining experience for a group was fantastic ! Beautiful venue ! Very attentive wait staff and so professional ! Great bar service and delicious food . The filet was so tender I cut it with the regular dinner knife . I guess they are so sure of the tenderness a steak knife wasn't provided ! Bravo!

I felt sad, I felt angry, I felt lonely, and I was bored on a cold, wet Saturday. What to do - I decided to do something WE'D intended to do for quite awhile before life got in the way - book a room at this beautiful hotel, and order up Moules-frites from Room Service (the version served here is outstanding) - and UNC was playing Gonzaga at 7 PM - this might work! The room was nice, very modern in style - a loft-style King room with windows aplenty, beautiful. and spacious in a shotgun sort of way, a bathroom to take home with you, towels and all! This particular room had a shower, but no tub, which was fine, and the shower head was awesome! The bed, dubbed Magi Bed by the hotel, was indeed one of the most comfortable I've slept in, and there were pillows everywhere! There were things that were off that kept this from being a great experience. The room was on the 3rd floor across from the rear of the restaurant and the dumpster and delivery area (not much of a view obviously), and there was constant noise for most of the late afternoon and early evening. The other off note was the thermostat did not work properly or had some sort of governor on it because no matter how I adjusted the temperature upward the room never got warmer. Additionally the seating area was small, and the chair and narrow couch were far from comfortable. The room service was amazing quick, no more than 20minutes from phone order to knock on the door. The mussels were as great as ever (I got the smaller plate), as was the House Salad with Green Goddess Dressing (remember that one?). The Tuna Tarter was not in the same class, at least for my taste - more than a bit sweet, never could really taste the tuna. I also ordered the Artisanal Cheese & Charcuterie but never received it. The lady who took the order even ask if I wanted both meat and cheese, and I said I did. So, some good things, some disappointing things, but I'm glad I did it, even though it was more than a little bittersweet.

I really loved staying here. It reminded me a lot about the Ace Hotel in Manhattan (not that they actually have anything in common other than the general vibe of the halls as you walk through the place). Check in and out is easy and the rooms are quiet. The attached restaurant of the odd name Print Works Bistro is quite excellent as well. The only downside that you just had to take with the LEED certification was the water pressure -- as in there is not much pressure to be found in order to conserve water. Though I never used them I saw these neat cabs there and from the web site they seem to be used for: "Complimentary airport transportation to and from Greensboro PTI Airport is provided for all guests between 6 AM and 11 PM. When possible, we'll also provide transportation to nearby shopping, dining and entertainment for a fee."

If I could give this hotel 6 stars I would because it's just that amazing! My husband surprised my son and I with a stay cation here so I had no idea that we were going and when we arrived I am sooo happy that he did. When we first arrived you can't help but notice the outside of the hotel it's stunning! The large windows and architecture is simply amazing! I was immediately drawn to the front entrance with the white and black curtains and their old timing cars. It was beautiful! The valet guy was very pleasant. He made sure they were accommodated with parking our car and getting inside of the hotel! When I walked in the automatic spinning doors was a great impression. I had never seen anything like it! The front desk guy was really nice as well, he asked questions about our travel and just all respectful! Which made me feel really welcomed. The lobby area and downstairs area was amazing as well! On sunnier days I can see this place being phenomenal but it was raining that didn't take away from its beauty. The inside of the room was great. The high ceilings made the room seem extremely big! Our favorite feature were the doors to the bathroom. It was a mirror but opened into the sleeping, it was the perfect Height to watch a movie and be in the tub! The tub is really deep and large! The bathroom was a classic black and white with minimal decor! We had a great view from the 8th floor. The overlooked a little bit of the place that we were in. They had robes available, magazines, a spot of music and a lot of places to sit! I also loved all of the mirrors. I could go on and on about the hotel. Overall the best I have stayed in thus far. Clean, beautiful and overall stunning!

I visited from DC and my girlfriend recommended this place for dinner. The decor is amazing and our waiter Jeff was awesome and highly helpful!!!!! The only thing as a side note: The shrimp risotto was overcooked and watery. The chocolate mousse was too dense and seems more like pudding. And finally the music was a little cheesy.

Amazing experience. I've had to opportunity to have meetings at this hotel but never got to experience the rooms upstairs. Well let me tell you, the upstairs is just as nice as the downstairs. The rooms are elegant and very modern. I was on the top floor and the rooms come with extremely high ceilings. There are large windows with drapes that hang all the way to the floor. My room came with a nice sitting area and amenities station. My favorite part of the room was the bathroom. It was huge with a large tub in shower area. I was very impressed. Ultimately, the staff are the highlight of this hotel. They are so friendly and pleasant. They really take care of you. I don't believe I got past a single employee without a greeting of some sort. If you're in the Greensboro area I highly recommend that you stay at The Proximity. You will not be disappointed.

This was our first trip to Greensboro and I chose Proximity based on the great reviews and beautiful pictures on the website. We arrived about noon on a Friday and couldn't find any parking in the main lot. We drove further away in the lot and found something. The man who greeted us apologized and said there was a big event there that day. The lobby is gorgeous and there's also a beautiful lower level with lots of comfy seating. I had some work to do, so I brought it down there instead of sitting in the room. We upgraded to a corner suite and I loved it. My favorite part was probably the bathroom. Stylish and lots of natural light. There was a nice chaise lounge in the bedroom. Our floor had coffee, filtered water that you could use to fill the pitcher in your room, and an honor bar with tea and soda. There was also a printer and computer. It's nice that you don't have to go down to the lobby if you need something. We are at the restaurant twice and it was excellent. I'll do a separate review on that.

Awesome 8th floor room! Bathroom opens into living space. I enjoyed a nice soak while drinking champagne and watching TV.

The parking structure entrance is on Federal Place between West McGee Street and Exchange Place; it's hard to miss because of the signage that reads "Hampton Inn & Suites Entrance." The entrance to the hotel on the first floor of the parking structure is considered the main entrance and is usually unlocked during the day. The side, first-floor entrance on West McGee Street is often locked; you'll need your room key for access. Parking is plentiful and included in the nightly rate. I was able to check in early, but wasn't asked which welcome gift I wanted or told where the lounge was located, or anything else about the hotel. I was just told to take the gold elevators. I had to go back to the front desk, as after going to the lounge, I couldn't figure out when the hors d'oeuvres were in the evening or the breakfast hours, as they were not posted on the door. The first person I asked didn't answer me, but the woman was very helpful. I never did find the pool or fitness center. I was given a room near the ice maker, but that is what I get for checking in early. My room door was rather finicky. It would turn green but seemed to get stuck when I tried to open it. The hotel is older, so this could just be a sign of age, or the latch may have been misaligned. The door to the lounge opened just fine, though. Tower II is triangular, so the room is more angled than a typical room. My room was a good size. I loved the large window in the room. The television was large, and the refrigerator was good-sized. There was a desk, chair, and a lounge chair and table near the window. I turned the chair around and enjoyed the view from the room, and watched the traffic. The room had a full bathroom plus another sink outside. Soap and lotion were provided in reusable containers and shampoo, conditioner and body wash were provided in the shower. I loved the rain showerhead. The scent of the bath products was a little overpowering. Even with the ice maker noise, I slept well here. I was exhausted, but the bed was very comfortable, and there were many pillows provided. There was even a flashlight for emergencies in the nightstand. The lounge had tables and chairs with some snack and beverage options. Alcohol could be purchased in the evening. The hors d'oeuvres were minimal. So I wasn't sure what breakfast would bring, but there were a lot of options from eggs to oatmeal to sausage to breads and cereal. Fresh fruit was offered, along with plenty of toppings for the hot items, too. Checkout was with the same guy as check-in, so it went just like check-in. It is clean, smells good, and the rooms are spacious. They offer a decent complementary hot and continental breakfast as well as areas to do business, etc. All hotel staff was very professional and friendly. There was one issue that I had with this hotel. On Friday, October 28th, the fire alarm went off throughout the hotel. It lasted for probably around 30 minutes or so. There was no communication or any staff members on the floors instructing guests on what to do. We were all very confused and didn't know if this was a test alarm or if we needed to evacuate the building. There were never any instructions for us to evacuate our rooms. I decided to leave the room and go out of the building because the alarm kept going off and no one was saying anything. As I took the stairs from the fourth floor down to the first floor, there was a strong smell of what seemed like rubber burning. It was only when I got to the first floor that I went and asked one of the staff what was going on and she said that someone put something in the microwave that wasn't supposed to be in the microwave and triggered the fire alarm. At that time, two firemen entered the building to go and evaluate the situation. This was handled poorly. Guests should have received communication on the expectations regarding that fire alarm. Had this been a different situation with a real fire, this lack of communication could've had a detrimental effect on the guests. Other than that situation with the fire alarm, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is a really good hotel. I rated it as a three solely because of the issue with the fire alarm.

Let's start with the good: The hotel team are friendly and thoughtful. The Manager, Brian, even allocated a dining room to me to take a long meeting, which was just awesome. Rooms are clean, and the hotel is charming. They are clearly leaning in on the old school vibe, and we were digging it. Considerations: The old elevator is super cool and vintage, but we took it only when required with luggage. Neat experience but made me nervous every time I used it. YMMV on this one! The hotel could use some upgrades and modernization which would mix old with new: Many switches with no connected lights, upgrade of in room phones and rework of electrical outlet options. The back steps are a bit steep, but it was not at all a problem for me and my husband on the 2nd floor. Finally, the location is terrific. Greensboro is not large, and staying downtown gives you access to all the areas. Biltmore is in an awesome spot. Try Natty Greeen's and Cheesecakes by Alex! They're literally around the corner. In summary: The hotel could use some freshening but it is super clean. The staff and vibe is very cool, and location is pretty great overall (down the block from Natty Greene's!).

I walked all over the neighborhood to coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and more. -Parking... the garage was right across the street and was easy to go in and out with my little ticket from the front desk. Cons: -Shower time... The water pressure was abysmal and the water kept jumping up and down in temperature. Also, I know soaps can be expensive, but I love trying new products at boutique hotels and I feel like the ones offered here were cheap and uninspired. -Light and noise... I had a hard time sleeping because there is not a panel to block the light and the decorative curtains let in a ton. Also, since the building is old you can hear EVERYTHING... like vacuums, walking, talking, and especially the construction going on next door. Overall, the good outweighed the bad and looking back on my stay, I really enjoyed it and would choose to stay there again if given the opportunity. Next time I would bring my little eye mask with the headphones in them for sleeping and I would be fine.
