I'll have to visit this place again because we were only pleased with the grits and drinks. The grits (not pictured) are stoned grits with a lot of flavor. The drinks and the bartender were phenomenal. I also think the service was great but the food was disappointing. I hate sending food back but I couldn't resist. The waffles were cold and hard, the chicken was dry. Even the comp meal (chicken and biscuits) were disappointing. The waitress advised the kitchen issue was due to them having a large party. She encouraged us to try them again. Everybody has bad days...I'll update when we try them again.

We had the absolute best brunch this past weekend here! The food was absolutely incredible and amazing service from Gary. Truly an amazing experience on food, service, and atmosphere!

Such an incredible spots with impeccable service, and the utmost care. The rooms are very clean and inviting. The chef is so skilled !

I loved the blackberry raspberry tea so much I wanted to take some home... not the only one to think so; shoppe was sold out.

We had an author tea here for about 50 people and the event was amazing, the service was attentive, and the food was delicious. I ate every single crumb of the 5 different things on my plate. My favorite was the leaf-shaped pie crust cookies. And I loved the blackberry raspberry tea so much I tried to buy some to take home... not the only one to try that; the shoppe was sold out. Austin was our host and even took some people on a tour of the B&B rooms. We were spread over several rooms but still could see & hear our speaker; there also was a lovely sitting room for just chatting. I was impressed with how quickly they got food out to everyone basically at the same time; no small feat for a big group and a small kitchen. I hear great things about their meals as well.

We hosted our baby shower here this past weekend and I can't rave enough about the entire venue! To start, Kelli was an amazing communicator from the start. She made everything very clear and was super flexible with our preferences. The room itself was so lovely, spacious, and they assisted with all the tables and food setup. Speaking of the food...it was incredible!! I thought it would be good but they surpassed our expectations! We had mini chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits, mini chicken salad and cucumber sandwiches and a bruschetta. Everything was setup so beautifully and the full bar was a hit with our guests! The bar tender even made a signature cocktail named after our baby's nickname (so cute!) If that's not enough, they also assisted throughout our shower, serving, helping our guests, cleaning up. Speaking of cleaning, they do basically everything, it was just so wonderful! I can't say enough about Kelli and her team and I highly recommend The Shaffner Inn as an event venue!! Also, a few of our out of town guests stayed at the Inn and they could not stop bragging about the rooms, service, and the staff overall. We were so pleased!!!

This hotel is located in the heart of downtown inside the original RJR building. The front desk staff are all professional, friendly and kind, each encounter with desk staff was exceptional. Valet parking is the only real option, unless you want to drive around looking for a limited parking spot. All of the valet team are professional, courteous and timely each went above and beyond for us. Very comfortable accommodations. We stayed in a king room the first time for a weekend and a king suite for the weeks stay. Both are comfortable, the suite's size and separate seating area definitely make it worth the difference if your stay is extended. King bed, very comfortable, quality linens, very quiet soundproofing with high ceilings and heavy drapery with modern minimalist wall decor. The bathrooms in both are nice the suite, another level of comfort. Walk in large shower with a vessel tub within the shower enclosure. This hotel is one of the higher end in town, it trys to hit those marks. Better than most. 4 Stars rounded up a full star for the steller staff here from the front desk, to valet team, housekeeping and room service everyone makes your stay here better. 01150

Chosen family- John has been family to the brides side since before she was born. We arrived at 3pm on a cool, fall Saturday in November. The grounds beg to be explored, the history of the house has secrets in her stairwells and rooms. The architecture breathtaking. We waited by the koi pond until it was time to take our seats in the lower garden for the ceremony. Cocktail hour was outside as well and the temperature was dropping. We couldn't wait to get inside for dinner. Well- it wasn't much warmer indoors. The dining area was split between two rooms, one of which was a sun room- all glass doors around the room. The interior room had a giant fireplace blazing in the center. We sat in the outer room- my shawl stayed on throughout dinner. I wore fleece leggings under my gown because I am always cold, but even that wasn't enough. The staff! They wowed me- from escorting guest to the powder rooms (clear on the other side of the house), to the bartenders making drinks the whole night, to the servers working our side of the dining room. Every member of the staff was beyond helpful and friendly. Amanda and Katherine worked the bar & were fantastic! And the servers I encountered all hustled while helping the guests- Christian, Dylan & Kelton were on our dining room team. Special shout out to all of them, they made a great impression. Food- fresh salad and warm dinner rolls were set down first. Wine glasses filled & water glass too. John and I both opted for steak as our main- cooked perfectly and I know that's not easy when catering an event. The whipped potatoes and green beans perfection. The table were set beautifully. The dance floor was in the pool room, the put the floor down right over it! Which was comical because of the bounce in the floors once the dancing began. Being cold the whole time, I couldn't wait for the dj to turn it up. They had the doors open for the dance floor room leading out to the lower gardens where the nuptials were earlier. At this point the sun had set and all of the guest were cold. That was my only complaint- we needed heat for cocktail hour and definitely heat for dinner. Once the dancing began, I warmed up quickly & even had to take 10 outside, without my shawl, to cool down! The festivities were to go on till 10:30pm, but some of us more seasoned guests departed before that. I really hope to come back and explore the estate in the future.

We are Titanium Elite members, and I still had a few Suite Night (upgrade) rewards available. After booking, the app wouldn't allow me to apply the upgrade, so I emailed the hotel to ask if one could still be used. I also mentioned that we were celebrating my wife's birthday and our 15th anniversary. When we arrived, the front desk associate thanked us for being Titanium Elite and told us she had upgraded our room. She then wished my wife a happy birthday and mentioned she had received my email -- which was very much appreciated. The room was an excellent upgrade. It included a small kitchenette, a family room with a couch and large TV, and a dining table that could seat six people. The bedroom was spacious with another TV, and the bathroom was a nice size with a walk-in shower. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The only negatives were related to lighting. The family room could really use more lighting, as there was only one lamp behind the couch. During the day it's fine with natural light, but at night it felt dim. Also, there is no light switch between the bedroom and bathroom, so we had to leave the shower light on because the hallway to the bathroom is very dark. One nice bonus is an excellent Mexican restaurant located right outside the hotel's front entrance. The food was very good and made for a convenient dinner option. Overall, a great stay with a fantastic upgrade and attentive service. We would definitely stay here again.
