For a Friday night, it was surprisingly quiet when we walked in--but to be fair, it was close to 11:00 PM, so maybe it gets livelier earlier or later. A few people were playing card games at one table, others were hanging out near the pool table, and a handful were just vibing to the music at the bar. They have an extensive beer list and some fun New Orleans-style tropical cocktails. I was happy to see an Aperol Spritz on the menu--and it was made properly, so I ended up ordering a second one. It seemed like a few friends of the bartender came in and started picking the music, which shifted into a mix of dance tracks and rap. The vibe fizzled out a bit after that, so we decided to head out. Overall, it could be fun little spot, we will check back later. If you're in the area and miss Hoots Brewery, definitely check out Bar Nola. I can only imagine how great their Mardi Gras party must be or Super Bowl day. On the other end of the building, there's a huge open space with beautiful hardwood floors and a another bar. It looks like the kind of venue where you could easily host a party with a live band--maybe they even rent it out for weddings or holiday events, though I'm not sure if it's officially part of the bar. There's also a large outdoor area with a TV and an uncovered bar, but since it was cold last night, everyone stayed inside. It seems like you can take your drinks out into the alleyway between the two buildings. Definitely a beautiful area to be when the weather is nice. read more

Went out here on a whim for a friends birthday and me and my friend fell in love with it! It was worth the drive. They had a DJ outside and just music playing on the inside. Both locations had great music! They have games inside, a pool table, bar, it's really a very nice size inside. Also the patio is super dope! We are DEFINITELY going back soon and the drinks were good! They don't have food or anything though. Good Service as well!! read more

We came here since it was right beside of hoots and just happened to see it Nextdoor. It was a cute spot with outdoor seating and an outdoor bar. It wasn't open when we went, but being December and pretty cold outside that was understandable. Inside is very cute and has a New Orleans vibe. They had a full bar and beer in draft and bottles. Very cool and unique spot. Plenty of places to sit inside or outside. More outdoor seating. I did find the bartender we had outside while nice was more interested in coloring in a book than interacting with customers. My wife absolutely loved the cocktail, espresso martini prepared by the inside bar. We will return. read more

Hence not tried their food yet but this was the second time we visited this venue. Bobby was freaking fantastic serving everyone in the building. I noticed two other people cleaning up but he did all the drinks with NO HELP! Dude was sweating like crazy with a smile on his face! He made our drinks each time perfectly! We also enjoyed the entertainment of Megan Doss and Alex Ottaway. We will follow them anywhere they sing!! The venue is super cute and well decorated. Their drinks are creative also. read more

Too many good things happening but I'll try to hit the 5 star highlights. Service- some of THE nicest and most accommodating bar tenders we have encountered. Always great attitude, amazing customer service- not sure how they do it day in and out but they do. Hats off. Great vibe. Chill inside with the AC In Summer if you need to. Sit outside In Their beautiful outdoor area if it's not too hot- Lots of shade! Ping pong back and forth as weather dictates- up to you. Enjoy pool or a table board game inside. Dog friendly- tons of well behaved doggos lounging inside. Drinks- wow. They know craft beer. Follow them on untapped. If you are a liquor drinker they have those too- frozen or on the rocks complete with plastic alligators. And drink specials- whoa- some of the BEST in WS really unheard of In these LGB times . No food - but you can easily carry in from West End Poke, Hops or order online from The Porch literally 5 steps away- they also offer various food trucks so follow follow follow on social media and support them. Bartender was great and for us made a Manhatten and Martini. I was thinking, this is more of a beer joint, how good can a cocktail be? He hit the mark! I don't know much about New Orleans culture, but seemed pretty authentic. It was definitely fun! The inside looks great. We went on a Sunday afternoon and they had live music in the middle of the day. While it was a little loud inside for a Sunday funday hang out, the band was great. For drinks I had a couple beers and my wife went In for a mixed drink. The beer choices were pretty diverse and included plenty of local brews along with some Nola craft beer. My wife's came with an alligator in it! We noticed a basket later where people were throwing the plastic gators in like mixed drink gator basketball. Fun stuff. I can't wait to go back and try a sazarec. They didn't have food, but it's next door to the Porch for a meal. Overall great new place in Winston and I can't wait to get back! read more

This is a great New Orleans themed bar! It's just what Winston-Salem needed to add to the bar scene. We stopped in on a Friday night. There wasn't any seating available, but we found a cocktail barrel table to stand at, and it worked just fine. We ordered a Hurricane and a VooDoo Punch. Both were delicious! I wasn't expecting the punch to be frozen but I still enjoyed it. Next time I'll go for the Swamp Water so I can get the alligator in my drink! I think that's so fun. The decor is perfect. They really did the theming right! There's also beers on draft and other drinks in cans available in case you aren't in the mood for a signature drink. I highly recommend you stop in. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is space which I realize they don't have much control over, but some extra tables and seating in general would be really nice for peak hours. Love love love the deals, I went on a Wednesday with friends and they had $3 draft beers! What a steal! Plenty of games such as jenga and darts. I enjoy the atmosphere the most, you can walk across and there's a restaurant where you can bring your food over to enjoy with your drink. Very cool vibe at this new Bar in town, nice huge space, very much capturing the New Orleans bar look. Great bar area, and plenty of seating around the space, all spaced well apart. Great chalk board menu board of specials and cocktails. They have a great selection of beers and wine, and a full bar. Owned by a husband and wife team, I think they've done a fabulous job of introducing something new and in a great area, where there wasn't anything like this. The husband was tending bar the night we went, and is a great super friendly guy. I wish them all the success with this venture! My friend had a couple of vodka sodas, and I had a gin and tonic, not bad prices too. No food here it's strictly a bar, but The porch is across the way which is where we headed after. The music was also great here I have to say, huge variety of different stuff. Also impressed with how clean it was. Very important! Will definitely be back here and I hope you all go check it out. This place has a lot of hype. You will be sorely disappointed if you expect to feel like you are in New Orleans except for the singular wall with a NOLA mural and menu of drinks. The sangria fizz was good for a one drink limit but too much with more than one. I was told the Hurricane is incredibly sweet. There was a live band the night we were there which was overwhelmingly loud and led to tons of shouting and sore throats by the end of the night. The staff was good and the bouncer necessary later in the night. Try it out and make your own decision. read more

We were at another bar a few minutes away when a friend of ours told us to check out Bar Nola. When pulling up I was a bit thrown off as the location was odd, but we went in anyway. First thing I noticed was there's a ton of games available. A pool table, a couple put-put areas, several jenga towers, a ton of board games, card games, ring a bull on almost every table. It's also dog friendly and there were several pups on leashes walking around. They have a pretty long list of drinks available on draft, in cans/bottles, or cocktails. Their menu is online and you get it by scanning the QR code on the bar. I opted for a classic old fashioned y hat wasn't on the menu but the bar tender knew. He was quick getting to everyone as well. I'm excited to come back here again sometime read more

Such a fun vibe here!! I am a lover of all things N'awlins related, so having a place like Bar Nola right here in the Triad is a dream! The drinks really are New Orleans themed and they execute it in a really fun way. The Swamp Water, one of the signature drinks, is served up with a little plastic gator! They actually have a net hanging from the ceiling where you can aim to toss your gator! Tipsy me landed a nothing but net shot, miraculously! There are so many bars in Winston, but I truly think Bar Nola has such a unique, fun concept that sets them apart! read more

It's my first time coming here and I was pleasantly surprised! There's plenty of space, a good mix of bar seating, long tables, and smaller high top tables. I did come on a weeknight so not sure how busy they get. The bartender working the counter was super nice and patient with me while choosing my beer and even went out of his way help people move tables around to be closer to their friends. They have a bunch of craft cocktails which I definitely want to try next time I come. I couldn't pass up the $3 beer on Wednesday deal though, it's so hard to find good craft beer for that price around town. They had ~12 on draft and I got my favorite Charlotte beer (NODA stop drop and roll). They even have games like Sorry and Uno to play. The only negative is a slightly confusing entrance and parking situation but it's worth it. I'll definitely be back! read more

Perfect place to grab a drink! Especially after dinner at the Porch or another nearby restaurant. The owners have done a great job creating a relaxed vibe while still having things to do like putterball which was going on while we were there. They have a fantastic beer and wine list, even though I just had to try the seasonal cocktail instead which was VERY tasty. I think we have our new tradition after eating dinner downtown! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Speaking as a former resident of New Orleans, the only aspect of the city they have in their décor is a few historic looking street signs. The only authentic part of this bar is their mixed drinks taste like something scraped out of the gutter on Bourbon Street. The bartenders are very rude and does not understand how to even mix a basic drink, like an old fashion, much less their supposed signature drink, the Sazerac. My old fashion was a frothy disgusting mess and an insult to the Buffalo Trace they used to make it. The Sazerac was more water than alcohol, and nauseated my wife to even sipe it. I was charge 50$ for two horrible drinks and to top things off, the female bartender stole my credit card and tried to give herself a 20$ tip. read more
