I came here on a Thursday night for a couple glasses of wine. It was pretty quiet and empty and I ordered some prosecco. It was not chilled, and I didn't think to ask for a glass of ice, but overall I had an okay time. The bartender was flirting a lot with some other patron, that was some nice, mindless and amusing entertainment. Pretty standard pricing for a small, hole in the wall place. $8/glass, but I've heard the regular cocktails are less, so I might go back for that next time. Don't be fooled walking inside Single Brothers having just a small indoor bar, but there's tons of outside seating at the back! It's a comfy neighborhood bar located in the Art District, and the chill atmosphere is what I love about this place. I came here on a Friday night with my friend and enjoyed it so much that we returned on Saturday, but this time with my husband as well. We arrived closer to 9:30pm and it was not very crowded. It was quick and easy to order from the bar and then we found a place to sit outside. It is cute to see all the things people have written on the tables. We both enjoyed our drinks and our overall experience. One thing to note is that the Labyrinth is a seasonal drink and they made them quite different Friday compared to Saturday as it relates to the garnish added. read more

Little bar in the heart of downtown. Great place to get a drink, they have everything I've ever seen in a ABC store. The bartenders know their stuff. I'm a fan of this spot! I like the fact that you can pop in on a Sunday afternoon, sit on their back patio, eat the delicious biscuits they put out, and have a fancy cocktail. My usual go to on a Sunday is a Bloody Mary. Theirs is definitely not of the traditional variety, I guess they put an avocado in it. I liked it, others in my group weren't as big of fans. I also tried out a ginger lavender drink that was really tasty. My friend likes gin so he made up some cocktail for her and asked if she wanted to go on a "flavor journey" with him. She did enjoy that flavor journey! The space inside is on the small side but has plenty of spots if you are going on an off time. The patio outback is covered so even if it is raining you can still sit outside. They even take fresh herbs out of their garden out back there to make their drinks with. They had out delicious biscuits with cookie butter and honey, so you can always count on some type of snack available. read more

So Im not sure if a bar can be much smaller than this place but have such a great group of people inside. We popped in for a few drinks after dinner a few days ago after going to Tate's and discovering that it was closed. I am sure glad that we did. Nothing too fancy just a good drink. My favorite was the bourbon smash made with fresh seasonal herbs. I could have had several more of those! While we were there it started to rain cats and dogs, I mean I thought I saw Noah float on by on Trade St. We looked to the back and water started to slowly trickle down the back steps. In a few minutes we have a nice stream flowing through the bar and out the front door. the manager/owner was furiously squeegeeing the floor but it just kept on flowing. Luckily no snotty people were there and we all pitched in and started to move stools and tables or help try to move water. I had a blast! read more

Some people can be such haters. This is a lovely little bar that serves a lot of inventive upscale cocktails. Many of the ingredients are homemade and even though they are slightly on the tail end of expensive this is not the type of place you have 6 drinks at to get wasted. You order a couple of drinks and just marinate on the deliciousness of the flavors. I went here with a few friends and ordered one round of drinks. For the most part we each got something different and took sips of each others. I ordered the Ginger Rogers (Whiskey, Ginger Liqueur, and homemade sour) and must say it was very tasty. The one drink that stood out the most was the Hellfire (Smoked Serrano Vodka and grapefruit juice). The drink was good and interesting to say the least but I honestly do not think I could drink a whole one. Next time I go back to Winston I will be making a trip back here. I normally come here on a Sunday afternoon during some Sunday Funday adventures. The inside is very small but they have a lovely outside seating area to enjoy nice weather. I've never had a cocktail from here but I have sipped off some of my friends and they are fabulous. The bartenders have always been super nice to me and my group when we come in and offer suggestions when someone can't decide. I think this would be a nice place to come on a weekday and enjoy a book outside to unwind. And, from my understanding, they grow and use their own herbs in the cocktails which I think is a nice spin for a place around Winston. Very clean also! You will often see the bartenders coming around to clean up, which I appreciate so there isn't a ton of glassware sitting around. Plus: Dog friendly! read more

Of all the thirty something places in Winston Salem I checked out this past weekend, this is a "must do" and was one of my favorites. Small non-descript front except for the neon Single Brothers light. When you first enter you may think you're in the wrong place - sure you could call Single Brothers a dive bar, but you'd be wrong. There's nothing divey about them or their drinks at all. The opposite is true - these guys are mad scientist craft cocktail makers. Let's just call it a down to earth scratch made cocktail adventure emporium. I know little about flavor combinations and the drink menu might as well have been in Chinese. I showed the bartender a picture of a drink from Yelp. Unfortunately they hadn't had the stuff to make one of those for a year. He then asked me a few questions and said "I'm going to make you the perfect drink". And I'll be damned if he didn't. A pineapple Rhum drink - sexy color and the taste, oooh the taste - silky pineapple and the beautiful subtle taste of Rhum Agricolae. Quick lesson - 99% of the world's rum is made with molasses, Rhum Agricolae is made with fresh pressed sugar cane juice. Well worth the ten dollar price tag. I could drink these all day long - easy - no problem - problem solved - world peace - all we need is love and pineapple rhum drinks. You have to experience this place for yourself and have him tailor a drink to your tastes and personality. Just awesome. read more

I love single brothers! It used to be so hard to get a drink here. Something changed, owners maybe? Either way, I do not have that problem anymore and really enjoy this bar. Especially during patio season. This is the place I go to get a handcrafted original cocktail with high quality fresh ingredients. It sounds like Tate's, but with a patio, less expensive and more inventive. I've never had beer or wine from here, but I don't see any reason to stray from there liquor specialties. The patio is long and has picnic tables throughout. There are flowers along the fenced border. They allow leashed dogs and if not to busy will offer them water. :) This bar is labeled as hipster locally, but I see all walks of life when I'm there. It must be the drinks. read more

Single Brothers is a fun bar with a great selection of cocktails. It is one of the few places that I can trust the bartenders to throw something together for me. They are also one of the few places to offer really good tequilas when most places just give up and sell cuervo and patron. Yes, it is small inside, but that only adds to the comfort factor for me. There are no TVs (Can you believe it?). And they do have a fairly large outdoor patio area when the weather is good. It is a little pricey but, as others have stated, this is not the place where you pound the drinks and get hammered, this is where you want to savor and sip the delicious, carefully-constructed cocktails. read more

This is my favorite bar in winston! The various smashes they do are delicious as well as the brothers gin and tonic and old lady! It is hard to sit inside and we have had service issues on busy nights, but really wouldn't go anywhere else in town. The crowd is hipster, but also nice and unpretentious. read more

Great little bar with a wonderful atmosphere. There is a menu with seasonal drinks. Staff is friendly. You can choose to mingle, bring friends, or if you choose to keep to yourself, no one bothers you. I come here on occasion to have a drink or two and write. I like sitting outside and listening to the other patrons as well as watching the other people on the street walk by. Great inspiration for character influence and muse for poetry. The drinks are a little more expensive, but for the ambience and the ingredients, I think it is an expected trade off. read more

You already know I had to start my girls night out at single bros. The atmosphere is dimly lit and intimate, which I love. I always get a Tom Collins from here every time I come. Prices are par with downtown drinks. All of the bartenders are knowledgeable, talented and hard working. One of my favorite places to be when i go out and it's cold, is outside of SB because they have ample heated seating. They now have an awning to keep the cold/rain out. Love it. read more

I had easily the worst bar experience of my life at this place. Not even the nice patio and cheap Tecate can make up for a wait staff that is beyond rude - they are demeaning and poorly behaved. I had a drink poured all down my dress by a waiter that overreacted to a situation that didn't warrant his behavior - not that any situation should. Single Brothers is an interesting establishment that's pretty nice for casual drinks after work or earlier in the evening. They have a full selection of beer in addition to some interesting, and tasty, cocktails! The bartender working when I went was conversational and willing to help me work through the cocktail menu. You might not realize it when you first arrive, but there's a whole back patio area that's part of the bar. Having that space out back is pretty important, because the bar itself is fairly narrow. There are also a few seats out front that you can take drinks out to. Overall, this is a great place to visit for some good drinks and a relaxed atmosphere. With that being said, I have heard that it gets significantly more lively as the night goes on. I personally haven't experienced that yet, but it seems to be the reputation amongst my friends who visit fairly frequently. In summary: outdoor seating, great cocktails, friendly bartenders.
