Really great hidden gem in Winston Salem. I loved the overall vibe. Very cozy and perfect for drinks with friends or a date night. We stopped in for a pre-dinner drink before a nice date night out down the street. We wanted a classy, dimly lit speakeasy-adjacent vibe and this delivered on that to a tee. They have a fantastic whisky selection and it's a nice place to sit. I will say that their other cocktails though outside of just the whisky leaves a bit to be desired. I don't remember my cocktail but I remember thinking it was just okay, but my fiancé was happy with his Eagle Rare 10 year. We would stop in again for drink when in that area, but nothing to make a special trip for in my opinion unless you are looking for a true whisky bar. Instantly fell in love with the dark speakeasy vibe created here. Loved the sleek bar area. The high tops to the side if you want more private setting and the couches up front were cool and a nice place for a group. I loved our seats in the middle of the bar where all the action is. Watched the fabulous bartender Al make smoked old fashioned's all evening. I had the classic paper plane .. one of my favorite drinks in a place where I can see they would make them well. This did not disappoint. I didn't ask for a garnish as it came with none and I like a little esthetic look to my drinks ! Al obliged with a lemon twist. Perfect ! My friends cocktail was called Afternoon delight, gin, apricot, lemon and sage. She loved that too. Great pre dinner drinks. We went to dinner then came back for some espresso martinis. She makes them how you want, her recipe was fine except I wanted no syrup. But added a dash of gran marnier. Love that little taste of orange. Again no beans garnish so asked for something, and this time she gave us an orange twist. These again were some delicious drinks. They have an amazing amount of bourbons to choose from and that is their thing, but love they make everything else too. A must for bourbon drinkers. I absolutely love this place! The ambiance, the bartenders, the drinks...chef's kiss! I love the "fireplace" at the front and the chairs around it. It probably packs out here, but on Friday night during peak hours it wasn't terribly busy and we got a seat right at the bar. There are other smaller tables on the wall across from the bar, too. The Fire & Ice and Sugar Cookie (seasonal) are phenomenal. The Maple Old Fashioned was 10/10. We were bar hopping and has dinner reservations or we would have spent much more time here. Cozy, classy, and relaxing. Trophy Room is one of our favorite spots to grab drinks in Winston. It's a beautifully designed space, featuring neatly lit lockers and a fully stocked bar. The inside is dimly lit and moody, but the service is as friendly as can be. Lately I've been loving their seasonal chai cocktail, but you can't go wrong with anything here. It's also a great place to sample different liquors, especially bourbons, which you may not have in your bar at home. We found out recently that they are dog friendly, which is a huge plus. This is a fun downtown Winston whisky (bourbon) bar. It is a small more intimate space with a door that attaches so you can wander back and forth in the beer bar next door called Dogwood Hops Bar. I can only imagine how busy it must be on a weekend so hard to accommodate a large group gathering. We had an amazing time! One of the specialty drinks are the Old Fashioned which was so smooth I highly recommend it. As I was sipping and chatting I looked over on the bar where there was a wood round plank and a glass domed customary cake lid. I wondered what it was for as later I saw the lid was filled w smoke and sitting on the wood plank! As my curiosity was peaked I watched as the bartender lit some kind of torch w a tube and it blew smoke which the Bar keep trapped under the glass lid. I asked the bartender what she was doing and why of course. She told me she uses it to make your Old Fàshioned drink smoky. Of course that was a First for me and I just HAD to try it! It was so much fun to see the experience and taste the results. My drink indeed had a smoky taste but mostly smoky on the rim of the glass. Good place to go for a fancy smoked cocktail- I loved my smoked old fashion! They have a decent whisky and bourbon list, a few vodkas and gins. The atmosphere and decor are lovely when it's empty. We went in two days in a row. The first day way fairly empty which was nice. The second time was pretty hectic, there was one bartender (Saturday at 7ish) and it was quiet when we walked in but about 20 people came in after. The lone bartender couldn't handle it and people were getting pretty annoyed so a bartender from next door came to help but she didn't know how to make the drinks or how to figure out how much we owed for our tab. All in all, I give them the benefit of the doubt because the industry is generally struggling and short staffed right now. read more

planned a night of bar hoping and started here which wasn't a good idea since we was refused of service right after being question when 9/11 happened and how old we was during that time which I'm 25. I had shown them my id and everything but we told that they didn't want to serve me sadly. I looked around to see people laughing at me and being told "we can refuse to serve you" which I know I wasn't putting up a fight was just hurt at the response of the two girls. I'm a black female who went there with my two Hispanic friends we did look around to see them serving people who were white so we couldn't help but to think that was the reason why. The Trophy Room is a beautiful bar located in downtown that's steps away from the former giant of the tobacco world! So it only makes sense that they've incorporated that into their decor and theme. From the dark interior that reminds me of the secrecy of taking a smoke, to the tobacco leaves that are shellacked into the bar top, and the bourbon theme that seems to go with the old school idea of sitting in a smoky bar sipping on a vintage bourbon, it presents itself as a bygone era! That being said, I question the accuracy of the drinks being made, and the idea that there's two doors to pick from upon entering. One leads to this bourbon bar, and the other leads to a wine/beer bar that is more vividly lighted. A bit odd to me, but I'd certainly give props for the work that went into the creation of The Trophy Room! read more

The trophy room is great! I've never walked into a place where I felt more of an adult vibe. You can buy a locker for $50 and then put whatever bottle you would like (purchase) into it and then they will make the drinks without any charge of mixers. I had the old fashion today and I would highly suggest buying a bottle and not paying for the mixer because it was the best damn old fashion I have ever had. The waitress was very educated on the different types of whiskey and she made me the best drinks! Definitely worth every penny. read more
