We stopped in the bamboo lounge on a whim while we were just doing a little bar crawling in downtown Winston. We were so glad we did. Everything was decorated super cute for Christmas. And when I say, everything was decorated, literally everything was decorated. It really got us in the spirit. Our bartender was super fun. She took the time to chat with us and get to know us. The drinks were all served in the cutest little Christmas themed cups and mugs. We were really excited to see that they had red stripe because that's kinda hard to find around here . Thursday was $6 daiquiris! I got my summertime drink an Aperol spritz. Which was made perfectly. My friends enjoyed all the fun cocktails on the menu. Some are a bit to sweet for me. I love vintage sofa lounge so was excited to come home since they have the same owner and one of my favorite bartenders from Vintage is now here! The drinks are great I love that they infuse their own rum which gives you a lot of great flavors for daiquiris. The melon might be my favorite which surprised but it's not as sweet as you would expect and very refreshing. The staff is super friendly. The bar is somewhat dark but very vibrant and cozy at the same time. There's usually a great playlist going but not too loud so can still have conversation. A great addition to downtown Winston Salem. The decor is perfect. It's the right amount of tiki bar/island vibes. The bar is small but they made great use of the space with several different seating options and some areas to stand and congregate. They also have some tables out front also a patio area out back. The drinks are good and reasonably priced. I went on a weekday around the time they were just opening so it wasn't busy, there was about a handful of people in the bar. The bartender was quick with making the drinks and he continued to check on everyone to make. I ordered a rum punch and it was good. It was almost too decorative to drink. All of the drinks have nice presentations, some come in tiki cups and others come in nicely shaped glasses topped with fruit and an umbrella. I can't wait to visit Bamboo Lounge again. read more

Most of what they offer included either the light or dark rum, flavored syrup, fruit juices, and other mixers, they do also include other choices. Their whole atmosphere was decorated to make you feel as if you were really some place tropical! Now i will say it is a bit small, so seating is limited, especially for a big crowd, there really isn't any outdoor seating, but maybe one tall table that sits 3 out in their front entry. THIS....is what Winston was missing! Location: The front of the business is facing Trade street. The tiki decor makes it easy to spot. Parking: Street parking or some paid lot parking close by....we typically prefer mid/late afternoons when we enjoy some adult beverages so, parking was very easy for us even on a Saturday with all of the other businesses around. I can imagine the evening might be a little more challenging but, if you have an Uber this might be your first and only destination. Vibe: They NAILED the tiki bar vibe. The decor,music, and overall casual yet pleasant atmosphere is a total win! I definitely felt like I was on a vacation somewhere tropical...even before my cocktail consumption lol. Drinks: Another huge win for us they have a full bar and both bartenders seem very experienced in all styles of cocktails. Their specialties are of course their tiki bar cocktails which outdid most I have tried before...great flavor,balance,presentation, and the price was surprisingly reasonable. $10 for house cocktails...average $12 for more specialty items. We had the painkiller, rum punch, and lemon drop martini. We spilt them between the two of us so we could try a variety...we couldn't pick a favorite, but both thought each one had a different flavor punch of its own that was different from others we've tried in the past (a good thing) I noticed alot of fresh squeezed fruits,mint, natural flavors going into them which was a huge bonus. I went here on a Friday around 8:00pm until about 10:00pm. The crowds varied, but it was more crowded as I left. It is a small building with limited seating. They have bar seating then various types of tables and chairs. I had a positive experience with the bartenders and never felt I had to fight to get their attention. I visited the Bamboo Lounge recently for some day drinking on a Friday. The bar opened at 3 pm. It's across from the Silver Moon Saloon on Trade Street. I left totally smitten with the drinks, the atmosphere, and the service. The lounge is a comfortable space, with a choice of seating: at the bar, in comfortable woven high-back chairs; high tables in front; and upholstered seating in the back. The walls have green botanical wallpaper and paneling that looks like dark-stained bamboo. And the drinks. Y'all. ... If you have been disappointed at other bars with a a top shelf drink served with a dried-out lime wedge, bring your weary mouth to Bamboo for refreshment. The house drinks are $10, reasonable considering how much effort goes into the drink. The drinks taste as good as they look. The bartender explained that the bar not only creates its own juice mixes, the house rum is a mixture of several rums. The house drinks are not sickly sweet "frou frou" drinks. They are worthy of savoring. The first drink I ordered, rum punch, had 4 pieces of beautiful, delicious fruit, a paper umbrella and a green stripe paper straw. The rum punch was impressive, and the dark daiquiri was even better. It's lime juice, rum, and Demerara sugar. My friend wanted tequila and the bartender created drinks that were so good, I was envious I didn't order them. I don't know if I've ever seen a bar that is so meticulous with presentation. At other bars, you're lucky to get a drink in a clean glass; or maybe you just order a beer because it's faster (you hope) and cheaper. Bamboo Lounge is a whole 'nother universe. I visited Bamboo Lounge tonight and honestly I've been trying to get in there since the opening date. Let me just say it did not disappoint they definitely lived up to my expectations. Finally, a good, down to earth, reasonably priced cocktail bar. They do beachy, Caribbean style cocktails with some of the classics, mai tai, pain killer, rum punch, they have it all. People normally cringe when you say Tiki bar but they are one and they have done it just right. It's classy, the cocktails are strong and superbly balanced. As a 20 year veteran of the industry, I'm very picky about my cocktails but they know their stuff. The owner used to work for pussers rum if that tells you anything. The bartender is great, full of knowledge about the cocktails and all sorts of fascinating things. The mood is casual but classy, the drinks are very reasonably priced for how well they're presented, they have the fun tiki glasses, their strong paper straws look like bamboo sticks, they have the little umbrellas and everything. The music is laid back pop reggae (the nice kind of reggae) and they even have their own house rum blend which is very tasty. You will miss out if you don't at least try it once. read more

My husband and I love tiki bars and we were so stoked when we heard a new one just opened in Winston Salem! We drove over from Greensboro and it was well worth the trip. I loved the tropical ambiance and all of the little details, even in the bathrooms. They also played my favorite reggae music which put me in the best mood. The bartenders were all so friendly and knowledgeable. They had a great selection of rums as well. We tried the Jungle Bird, Dark Daiquiri, Mai Tai, Queen's Park Swizzle, and a bonus passion fruit daiquiri. They were all fantastic and well balanced. They even can make most of their menu without alcohol. I loved the attention to detail with the special garnishes (I'm a sucker for good garnishes!) and the different tiki mugs. They don't have their own mugs yet, but hopefully will in the future so I can add to my collection. We can't wait to visit again- I'd love to see a zombie on the menu! read more

Solid drink builds, the classic tiki method plus some strong enhancements. Decor is premium and tiki-centric/tropical. Bartender is well-versed, attentive, and master craftsman. Appreciate the simple menu approach (about 6 drinks only) and same $10 price across the board- makes sense for Winston. Would like to see black-out windows to make it more escapist/traditional, and exotica music as background vs the rock music that was playing. Otherwise perfect in every way!
