Tagged along with my wife and her friend ti enjoy a drink at Stonefield Cellars. I'd never been to this winery, but we were well greeted and welcomed into their tasting room. It seemed they had a pretty extensive list of wines to choose from. They had a large, spacious indoor area for sitting, but also a lot of outdoor space and a medium sized covered patio with fans to help with the heat. The woman working the bar was very friendly and I heard her making a number of recommendations. After all these years, SFC is still a solid wine option just outside of Winston and Greensboro. They off flights of 7 (your choice) regular or premium wines (upcharge, in my opinion, is worth it). The barrel x was still my personal fave, but Gato (a light, smooth Merlot blend) and mountain mama were nice in their own right. Hopefully, it won't be another four years before I'm back! read more

This is such a cute winery with a beautiful outside space to sit and enjoy your wine! The service was great. Everyone I was with ended up going for the flight and they brought them out pretty quickly despite being really busy on a Sunday afternoon. The flights might be a little small but the price was pretty affordable so it was worth it in my opinion. There's plenty of outside tables and there's a few tables inside. There's also a cute store inside with some local products. I personally love dessert wine so I love the variety of dessert wines they have. Every wine I tried was really good though. They did come around & ask if we wanted to join the wine club and gave us a sample of a club exclusive wine, but they weren't pushy at all when we said we weren't interested in joining. We also had a charcuterie board which I wish I took a picture of. It was delicious - it had cheese, crackers, olives, chocolate covered pomegranates (I think), and I'm sure I'm forgetting something else. A friend and I visited Stonefield Cellars Winery to enjoy a relaxing afternoon with some wine, and it couldn't have been more lovely. The staff member who helped us was warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. I was in the mood for something on the sweeter side, and she provided thoughtful, detailed descriptions of each wine option. I sampled several during the tasting and ended up choosing the peach-flavored wine--oh my, it was delicious! We took our glasses outside and enjoyed the peaceful, backyard-style setting. A sweet gray cat (I think his name was Cooper?) wandered around, adding to the charm. The space felt more like a cozy, elevated backyard than a typical winery--complete with a concrete patio, chickens nearby, and a relaxed, unpretentious vibe. One thing I didn't love was how early they closed, but I totally understand--it's a slower season, and business this time of year probably doesn't justify staying open late. Still, I found myself wishing for just a little more time to soak it all in. Even the restrooms were thoughtfully done, with signage showcasing ways to get involved with the winery community. You can tell this place is loved and well cared for. I'm already looking forward to coming back in the summer when the live music starts and the doors stay open later. Very nice setting! Nestled back in the woods with plenty of outdoor seating, tables with fans and lots of picnic tables. The tasting was set up like a flight, which allowed us to take the drinks outside. The host was very friendly and delivered our flights to us while we were seated outside. It was a quaint place tucked away northwest of Greensboro. We craved wine and a winery vibe. We prefer the outdoor, large open rolling hills of some of the others we've visited. Notably, the best wines in our option was the mountain mama red and their specialty desert wine. The flavors were really Poppin, easily 8-9/10. The flight was very meh, and were usually accustomed to 1-2oz pours. We ended up purchasing their two wine we liked the most. I was a bit disheartened by the smaller bottle in the dessert wine. Something to keep in mind. I would gladly pay a few bucks more for a normal sized bottle. I get it, purely preference. We liked it overall, the service was sweet and prompt.. the overall vibe wasn't quite up to our simple preference. If we pass through Greensboro area again, I'm sure we'll stop in for the dessert wine again! read more

I did the wine tasting and got a souvenir glass for $17.50. You can buy a single glass of wine for eight or $10 depending if you want reserve wine they have lovely little areas to sit in at numerous options for snacks, there are some chickens at the front of the property and also two very cute kitty cats. they have limited hours, so be sure to check before you head out there. My husband and I love visiting local wineries, so when we found ourselves in town for a soccer tournament, we couldn't resist making time for a few tastings. Stonefield Cellars Winery was one of our first stops. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but the staff is extremely friendly and they offer a nice selection of wines. While most of the wines were dry, Stonefield Cellars does have a tasty selection of semi-dry and sweet wines, my favorite of which is the Peach wine. I enjoyed it so much, in fact, that I regret not buying more than one bottle to take home. It's also worth mentioning the handmade chocolates for sale. Yum! You can choose to do a flight of 7 wine selections, or you can purchase wine by the bottle or glass to enjoy during your stay. Stonefield Cellars Winery offers nice, romantic outdoor seating so you can relax and take your time. A great place for a date night! Napa Valley, Temecula Valley, and other appellations have winery dogs and even feature contests and calendars with their pets. Stonefield has a cat, so no dogs permitted. Allergies not withstanding, the cat respected the social distancing requirements so as to not interfere with my tasting. My flight of seven was on the dry side, as usual, and I was not disappointed by any. I have found perhaps two Pinot Grigio wines in all my tastings (including 11 years in the industry) that actually have enough flavor for me to call 'wine'. That being said, I have had several Pinot Gris bottlings that are a step above your standard Italian Grigio, with a bit more acid snap and flavor. Stonefield's is definitely in that arena; I would definitely enjoy the regular or Rose versions by the pool on a warm summer day. I also appreciated the fact that they provided a dark chocolate Hershey's kiss to pair with the reserve red that I had, and a cracker to cleanse the taste buds between samples. I would be remiss to not mention the friendly staff, as well. Though Covid protocols preclude the banter I usually like when tasting, they were quite informative and happy to answer my questions. I called to purchase the gift certificate today and Kelley was so kind and helpful! Buying the certificate was easy and I received the email shortly after. It's gorgeous! With a group of four so we had a large variety of wines and we are fans of some of the Yadkin Valley wines. That is, we really tried to give a fair evaluation. The winery had a nice selection of various spectrum ones ranging from the bold fruitful to the semi sweet. They may need some additional help as we did have to wait and wait and didn't feel that experience that we were expecting. If you're going to charge that much at least give the patrons a full glass or a bottle to take home not like many of the other wineries we went to they were descriptive with their ones but we felt rushed and probably would not venture back to this winery again. read more

Guilford County is hardly wine country, but Stonefield Cellars still manages to acquit itself nicely. At first glance, this smallish vineyard feels like a family farm (replete with chickens), but don't take that for a lack of sophistication. Follow Fezzik the greeter-cat across the scenic patio, and you'll enter a dignified tasting room. Tastings go for a very reasonable $7/person ($10 if you want special reserve wines) for seven samples. The selection features only two dry whites, six dry reds (including two reserves), and eight sweet/fruit wines. Everything is made on-site, and whatever isn't grown locally is brought in from elsewhere in the Tarheel State. I'm not much of a wine connoisseur, but I definitely found the blueberry (not too sweet), strawberry (decidedly sweeter), and vin de narle (a dessert wine with chocolate and cherry notes) to be to my liking. My wife, who also gave high marks to the Dread Pirate Roberts (a spicy red blend), and I opted for a bottle of the vin de narle in the mid-teens, about the going rate for many of the non-reserve bottles here. Though there were several others who had lined up to the bar for tastings at the time of our visit, Stonefield Cellars staff seemed well-equipped to handle the volume. They were knowledgeable about their products and free of the snobbishness that "winery" sometimes connotes. Those who have toured wineries the country (or the world) over may be nonplussed by Stonefield Cellars, but for the Triad, it does what it does very well. read more

We had a great time at the bluegrass concert Friday August 19th. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Kellie is terrific and let us borrow lawn chairs as we are from Washington state. We love their wines and the venue. The food was delicious but it took an hour to get it. We actually finally ate as the concert ended. It was a food truck and they were overwhelmed but tried hard! Definitely bring that truck back BUT need to figure out the timing! We will visit every time we're in NC. The band Progressive Nu(?) was fantastic. read more

Wow - a vineyard this good in Guilford County??? This place is really great! Stonefield Cellars is a beautiful property, well-decorated and conveniently located in the heart of the Triad, near the exit for Hwy 68 off of I-40. I won't go into a lot of detail about the actual vineyard b/c they have a GREAT website, www.stonefieldcellars.com - which is up to date and very informative on their available wines, hours and events. I was here for a private event in their cellar room (excellently catered by Pepper Moon catering). Stonefield offered a very reasonable fee for our group event and a varietal wine tasting menu, or pours by the glass. Via the tasting, I most enjoyed the Dread Pirate red and their Cabernet Sauv. Our tasting also included a non-oaked Chardonnay. And, kudos because I don't normally like Chard, but this one was pretty good. The wines were very drinkable under any circumstances, but again, these are Guilford County wines??? I had no idea this kind of place was right under my nose. In any case, our group had a great time and I highly, highly recommend this vineyard to anyone seeking out reasonably priced wines, a vineyard experience, or a private event location in the Triad area. read more

Not a good experience, no masks no entry and they didn't provide any options to provide you the mask outside of their little building. All we wanted was to do a tasting, and waste some time. Additionally, they had several dozen seats available outside but you were forced to go inside and we didn't have mask in June of 2021. Literally no one else (business) were demanding masks anymore. Yes for their employees but not the customer. Guy was rude inside and to think we drove 45 minutes to get here. NOPE...you can work through things with the customer but don't become a jerk! read more

Great, chill place in the countryside. At the time of my visit it was $7 for 7 tastings. Pretty big list of wines of all kinds to choose from. We propped ourselves up at the bar as our host poured each wine and explained as we went down our checked marked list. It was pretty dead when we went on a Friday in November so we had our hosts complete attention. There are some fun country tables inside and patio tables outside to also sit at. The most fun part is the vineyard animals!! There was a cat who ran up to us upon arrival awaiting us to pet him. There just so happens to be a wine named Gato. There is also a chicken coop behind a shed that we checked out while we were there too. Fun place to visit if you're in the Greensboro/High Point area. read more

We were on our way up to Virginia wineries but we wanted to catch a North Carolina winery on the way. The reviews looked good for this one and I will say the setting is nice, not what we were expecting, but pleasantly surprised. We must have caught them at a busy time because there were several tastings going on and the patio area was full. After we waited around a few minutes one of the wine tasters came to greet us and offered to do a tasting at the nearby table while she continued the other tasting, this was very nice! Now for the wine, it was okay. Nothing really wowed me until the last one. The very last one reminds me of something similar to a port. They had a few red wines they described as big and bold, which I love, but I didn't get that big red taste I was hoping for. Also, a lot of the wines had an acidic taste to it. Again, for Stokesdale, NC it's a nice little gem, but for big red wine lovers it may not be what your looking for. read more

We visited Stonefield Cellars for the first time this past weekend and I was amazed at the quality of the wines! I have visited quite a few wineries here in NC and also in Virginia, and these were the best that I have tasted in the region! I would even put these up against quality wines from California and Washington state. The property is also very inviting, with a large tasting room and tables and chairs (limited seating, of course) out on the grounds. Everyone was very friendly. My wife and I have found that the wines at Stonefield Cellars are very good. We were sweet wine drinkers but at the urging of Robert, the wine maker, I have become a dry red wine drinker, my wife does mostly the semi-sweets now along with some dry reds. And the selection of dry reds is great. I personally like the Gato Merlot, Dread Pirate Robert's Bloody Red, Mountain Mama Red and the Barrel X. On a hot summer day, a cold bottle on Mountain Mama Madness White really hits the spot. We have volunteered many times at the winery. It is really a fun experience and you get to meet nice new people and the "work" isn't that bad. Really great people at the winery. read more

Wow! This is probably one of the closest wineries to me and I will definitely be coming back. The property is smaller than most of the other wineries I've visited and if you didn't notice the vineyards as you drove by it'd be easy to miss, but the red wines are some of the best I've tried in North Carolina by far and the staff is incredibly friendly. I was served by their tasting room manager Michelle and she was very knowledgeable about the wine and wine-making process.
