I was going to a Yelp event, and wanted to try something new, so my daughter gave me this place for us to try. There is a restaurant side and a bar side. When we entered, we were greeted immediately. I think the decor was cool. I ordered the Pimento cheese dip for an appetizer because I absolutely love pimento cheese. I was a bit disappointed because I thought it would be warm. The pita chips were good, but the dip was just okay. I had called to see if they had any deals, and I was told that wings would be 50% off, but when I got there, I was told that was not a deal and the only deal was 10 wings and fries for $9.99. I can't lie that was still a great deal! At first, I didn't really taste the garlic on the wings, but after a while I did and the wings were good. Made reservations for 4:30 for 9 on a Sunday as we were coming from out of town to visit family. Did this 10 days in advance. Got there and the doors were locked. Knocked and finally got someone to answer the door. They said they closed early due to it being very slow. I told her we had a confirmed reservation for 4:30. Said they didn't have any reservations (!!!). Okay folks. taking, confirming and documenting reservations is one of the BASIC FUNCTIONS of running a restaurant! It's been a number of months since visiting Stokeridge, for no particular reason. Like some other reviews, the food and service has been spotty but sadly, that's a sign of the times. Overall the vibe is good, especially if you're there with friends. We've never felt rushed as we enjoy a beverage before ordering. Tonight I got the fried egg burger with fries I ordered crispy, and they delivered. Husband got the cheesesteak with a baked potato and it was as ordered. We enjoyed our meal in the dining room with Kimberly our server who was so pleasant, despite being pulled all over the seating area. Came in with my family for a nice meal today and the food was good but we noticed that one of the kids that was working was kind of rude. We had a young girl as our waitress and she was great but the young tall boy there was not at all. He seemed nice at first but we heard him being rude to others and he even messed up our drinks. For starters. The service was excellent from time we walked in to the time we left. Great atmosphere. Our waitress got our orders and the kitchen got our starters very quick. I got the steak and my wife got the country fried steak. The moonshiners sirloin was one of the best tasting steaks that I have tasted. We were out of town and were looking for something to do after. I get how this place is ranked lower because it may not be everyone's cup of tea. Service is "hit or miss". Most of the time, it seems like it's a solid hit and there are even a few servers I've met there that I'd rank exceptional. Occasionally, you get the newbie and it takes a few to get things right. Place feels like a bar with a restaurant. If you go for that kind of atmosphere, this is your place! For the most part, the food is pretty standard bar food with the standard unique spin added on the menu naming conventions. The place does seem to rock with live music. Potential to be good if they could pull everything together. We were on our way from Cornelius to Ridgeway VA and stopped at Stokeridge Tavern and Grill. Got here a few minute after they opened on a Sunday and we were the only patrons there the entire length of our stay. It's inviting on the inside and probably more of a Sports Bar. Staff is very friendly but friendly only goes so far. Menu is pretty standard bar food but with a sense of humor which I appreciate and find interesting. Server presented up with our menus and took our drink orders while we looked over the menu. My wife ordered Unsweetened Tea with artificial sweeteners on the side. I ordered 1/2 and 1/2 Sweetened Tea with Lemon. The half and half was still too sweet and the server had to go back and get the lemon because he had forgotten it. My wife ordered a Loaded Potato Soup to start with along with a French Dip Sandwich. I ordered the Buckingham Reuben which is named after an adjacent county. While my wife went to the ladies room, out server came back because he had forgotten to get our orders for our sides. I went with the Tater Tots. When my wife came back, she made the comments about no sides when the server came back and asked for her side order. After he named a couple of possibility , she asked about fruit and he said they could do that. The Potato Soup came out first and it did look good and my wife commented that it was very good. Next came the French Dip and Fruit. No Aux Ju with the French Dip. Comment was the cook was new and did not realize that a French Dip came with that. It was explained that they had to add some water to the aux ju and heat and it would be a couple of minutes. As far the fruit, it came out as Fruit Cocktail and you know how sugary the syrup that that is packed in. My Reuben was very good. Nice marbling on Bread , great tasting meat and a good contrast. All the all the food was very good just the way it was served could use a lot of work. read more

A good place for bar food with outside seating. On the day we were there, we sat outside and the wait staff didn't appear to notice us until other customers told them about us. The waitress was apologetic and they appeared to be very short staffed, so we were patient. The "jumbo" wings were not necessarily jumbo, but they were tasty. We'll be back. read more

Our first time trying this tavern. There was a dining area and the bar section. A local artist was playing from 6pm- past 10pm. The food was fine but the service was outstanding. The ambiance was just right for a winter evening and we enjoyed our first visit here. People seemed to be regulars and everybody had a nice time. read more

My wife and I are here about once a month. We love the food and the service is as good or better than most places. I think the chicken wings are the best in the area. And I have been everywhere. When we arrived the place wasn't very busy. We ordered appetizers and our food. We received our appetizers but then waited over 45 mins for our meals. We actually had to track down our waitress and ask for them and they came out about 5 minutes later. I asked the waitress to cancel my order because I was full from the appetizers and the time it had taken was way too long, but she brought it anyway . No action was taken to try and rectify the situation other than bringing the food much later. Lack of appreciation for patrons and maybe because we're not home grown Stokesdale people we weren't made to fill appreciated for our business; but I know our money is just the same and it can be was spent elsewhere. read more

Never will grace this establishment's doors again. Their Manager and bartender bullied and told a well liked local person with disabilities they were no longer welcome on their property for absolutely no reason. We stopped in for lunch today, our first visit here. This is a nice layout inside, rustic, comfortable feeling in the dining area, the bar is large & attractive, there are plenty of large screen TVs, and a nice amount of outside seating. We were seated quickly, drink orders quickly filled as we looked over the menu. They offer some "quick lunch" choices, but we wanted to try some their barbecue items and a burger off the full menu. We settled on the Brisket Sandwich ($9.95 with a side & drink), the Jalapeno Burger ($9.25 with a side & drink), and the Outlaw ($8.25 with a side) which is their pork barbecue sandwich. Unfortunately, the food was just OK, with something a little off center with each item we tried. The Jalapeno Burger has some real potential, especially if you like some heat, but the burger was well over cooked beyond the medium we ask for. The accompanying Hot Chips went the other direction, with at least half of them significantly under-cooked and very limp. The burger is well sized, but is under-seasoned when tasted without the bread or toppings - a little salt helped this somewhat. The Brisket Sandwich was filled with thin slices of beef, but the meat was considerably over-cooked, with no tenderness, almost a crunch though out the meat, not just the char on the outside portion - this meat did not seem freshly cooked, at all, but rather warmed over. The BBQ sauce is a thick, rich sauce dominated by sweetness, a bit too sweet for my tastes, and the Swiss Cheese didn't add anything to this sandwich considering the amount of sauce.. The pork barbecue is minced rather than chopped or pulled, not a texture I care for, and the meat comes out of the kitchen more than well sauced, and the sauce here is sweet, as well. There is not a huge portion of meat on this sandwich, which also has a little cole slaw on Texas Toast, a platform that doesn't stand up well to a rather wet filling. The French Fries had some flavor, but were not the least bit crispy, in fact, mostly limp. The service was excellent, the ambiance pleasant, other than the piped in music being too loud, and the pricing was reasonable in most respects. But the food was just not something that made you say "wow", and the items that were either over or under cooked points to a lack of attention in the kitchen - those chips and that brisket, in particular, should never have been made it out of the kitchen, period. Might drop in and try again, maybe try something different, if in the area, but this would not be a destination spot based on our experience today. read more
