We stumbled upon this spot last week for breakfast, and they actually serve their full menu most of the day! I ordered the turkey panini with the breakfast potatoes and the hubby ordered ramen. Their menu has a whole ramen section and it was delish! The kid ordered from the Mac and cheese from the kids menu-it was definitely from a Kraft box and came with chips for 8.99. That mark up was a loooooot. The employees were super friendly, but the interior could use some TLC. read more

My husband and I discovered this location completely by accident. We intended on going to a local burger bar that was suppose to be open but had closed for the 4th of July holiday. We were very grateful for this experience. We were greeted promptly and served with a smile. I had the Citrus Shrimp Wrap and my husband ordered the Bistro Panini. Both were delicious, freshly made ingredients, and arrived to the table quickly. We ate in the outside seating area where there was a cool breeze. Our first time eating here, the vibe seemed more like a bar that serves food. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. We ordered the Sausage, Bacon and Cheddar Omelette with potatoes. The omelette was good and the potatoes were great. The sausage in the omelette didn't taste like sausage you fix at home. I went for Sunday lunch. There are two dining options - inside or on the patio. The menus are at the counter and you place your order there. I selected the CUBANO - pulled pork, ham, salami w/diced pickles, spicy brown mustard & Swiss - with roasted potatoes as my side. My meal was delivered with a minimal wait. The Cubano sandwich was delicious, and I thought the roasted potatoes were a nice alternative to the typical french fries that most places offer. Decent place. Friendly staff but the interior seemed neglected. Food selections are limited but tasty for the most part. Service was slow and they seemed way understaffed for a Friday night. I had a bbq teriyaki glazed salmon on a cauliflower cake and veggies. I had them cook my salmon medium and it was delicious. The veggies were good but that cauliflower cake was just bland. No seasoning, seemed like the cauliflower was over cooked and the binder was undercooked. Others in my group gift the same dish and mentioned the same. Most didn't eat the cake. Wine list was nice but limited they had a stage for live music (just not tonight). Drinks served in solo cups except for wine. Not much to write home about. I ordered an omelet, which I thought had a strange taste--not bad, just strange. Perhaps it was the oil it was fried in. The potatoes were good. The restaurant itself is dark, and not a very inviting place for breakfast. I don't think I'll return. read more

A local spot with a following. We wanted decent Asian inspired food but from a place with a good health score and that is how we ended up here. They had good reviews on the ramen. We got the ramen and it was very tasty but I was still hungry when I got home so I am not sure what I should have added to our meal yo make it more satisfying. The hubby got the pork special and ate all of it and he too had a sandwich when we got home. Service was friendly. I can see some of the other reviews about the atmosphere being "neglected" and just worn. It's a vibe. Stopped off here for lunch. Not many options in this area for lunch. This was a good choice! My daughter ordered a White Mocha Latte with Soy & Carmel drizzled on top and I ordered a Chia Tea latte with soy. Both were hot, creamy, and full of flavor-not watered down! For lunch, I had the Citrus Shrimp Wrap! The spinach was crisp and refreshing-there was plenty of shrimp-the sun dried tomatoes were heavenly-there was just the right amount of goat cheese-and the hint of dressing was super good! The wrap was warmed to a golden brown. It was amazing! My daughter ordered the Bistro Panini with chicken. There was thick Smokey bacon and plenty of chicken. It is a hearty sandwich!!!! I'm wavering between two and three stars here but I'll be kind and go with three. Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was clutter. Every surface had a knick knack of some sort just taking up space. I really hate clutter so I was immediately turned off by the atmosphere. It's a long narrow space so not much natural light comes in, even on a sunny day. Dark and dreary describes it. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. I had looked over the menu before going so was familiar with the lunch offerings. I decided to splurge and get the filet medallions sandwich with lettuce, tomato and horseradish mayo. I chose the roasted potatoes as my side. After a ten minute wait, my food was delivered by the owner who was a friendly and energetic woman, very sweet. I was anticipating my first bite but the meat was so tough, I couldn't really bite into it. The sandwich fell apart and I was left with two small pieces of filet, a slice of unripened tomato, one piece of romaine that had seen better days and a soggy bun that literally turned to mush when I tried to eat it. I had trouble cutting the filet with a steak knife. It was cooked medium rare as requested but had no seasoning whatsoever. The potatoes were okay, I've had better, ketchup helped. The horseradish mayo was nice and spicy so that helped the filet go down a little easier. I had water to drink and my check was $15. Not an inexpensive lunch and not one I'd repeat. read more

By far, the most wonderful hidden gem in the area. I am sad to say, that I grew up less than 10 minutes from Bistro 150, and until the last year or so I do not think I had ever actually eaten there. Learn from my mistake and just go ahead and give it a try!!!!! Bistro 150 is located in the corner of pretty much the only shopping center in Oak Ridge, just down from the Lowes Foods. While there are your typical restaurants; Mexican, Italian, a couple fast food joints, etc. there is not really anything a little better. But this is right where Bistro 150 comes in! I think a lot of people think of it as more of a breakfast and coffee place that happens to serve wine at night, and that is very unfortunate! As I mentioned, that was me at one time! Fun fact: I actually played drums in a band that played at Bistro 150 while in high school (to a packed house I might add)! And even then had no idea of the quality of food! I have been to Bistro 150 numerous times and I can say I have been pleasantly surprised by just about everything I have had there. The garlic and olive oil pasta and the tenderloin medallions probably being two of my favorites! And whatever you get, you have to get the roasted potatoes! The prices are very reasonable and I have never left hungry. Jennifer, the owner, always comes around to check and see how everything is and to see if you need anything else. Was really excited to try this place, it came highly recommended from family. When we walked through the door we were not greeted, but someone else came behind us and right away was greeted. The older Man behind the counter taking our order was incredibly rude. Asked my partner and I what we want. We told him. Then he asked my partner what he wanted to drink and when he didn't answer because he didn't hear him the old man almost shouted "what do you want to drink!" He then rudely asked where we planned to sit. And slammed our drinks on the counter. I ordered a hot chocolate and it was watery and disgusting, I didn't even drink it. I ordered the early riser breakfast which is eggs bacon and a pancake. My partner ordered the steak and eggs, three tiny pieces of steak with overly peppered eggs. If you're ok with mediocre food and rude service then this is the place for you read more

(2.5 stars) Located at 2205 Oak Ridge Road in Oak Ridge, Bistro 150 serves American cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Saturday and a brunch on Sundays. Food specials change daily, and there is occasional live music. Outdoor seating is available. Housed in a nondescript shopping center and blessed by strong reviews, Bistro 150 is a very strange, slightly sad, though not irredeemably bad little eatery. Enter this dark restaurant, and you'll find a few traditional tables toward the front and a lounge area with sofas further back. Ordering and payment are both handled at the register, perhaps a concession to the very small staff. Only the owner and a chef/cook were working when we arrived around 5 p.m. on a Saturday. Then again, we were the only ones in the restaurant, so it's possible they had all the staff they needed. A radio playing 1960s hits further contributed to the odd vibe. In contrast, Bistro 150's menu is decidedly more traditional. Among the apps, sandwiches, and salads, you'll find familiar hummus plates, Reubens, Greek salads, and flatbreads. In fairness, the dinner entrees offered some unexpected - and more refined - surprises, such as potato-crusted pangasius or grilled pork loin with a cranberry and red wine sauce. A nice variety of coffee drinks and gelato round out the offerings. For our visit, my wife and I went with a roasted chicken salad (with sundried tomato, olives, and feta in place of the standard goat cheese) and a Chesapeake pasta (shrimp, clams, and mussels over linguine in an Old Bay, white wine, and cream sauce). The salad was respectably sized for its price ($9.99) but was otherwise a disaster. Overly large pieces of tough chicken lay atop overly large, unsightly pieces of lettuce with chewy sundried tomatoes mixed in. Bleh. Fortunately, the pasta dish ($15.99) fared better. There was a decent ratio of seafood to noodle, and though the Old Bay and white wine flavors were absent, the garlicky, creamy sauce still had plenty of flavor without the heaviness of an alfredo. Service was also uneven. During our meal, the owner came around to see how we were doing, which was a welcome gesture. Prior to that, however, she expressed indifference and bafflement when my wife tried to ascertain which dressing paired best with the salad, and said salad initially arrived without the one ordered (a problem quickly remedied thanks to the cook/chef). The owner also isn't the easiest person to understand. Oak Ridge is not Greensboro or High Point in terms of dining options, and a lack of nearby competition may help explain Bistro 150's strong reviews. But even in a vacuum, this quirky eatery falls short of reaching the promise suggested by its appealing dinner menu. I don't see myself coming back. read more

Wish we went someplace else. First, tried to order poached eggs, look at the kid taking our order and got the deer in headlights look. He said, so like over hard? I said no, do you know what poached eggs are? He said, I only have 5 buttons for eggs. So I got 2 pancakes, small and 6.99, from a box. Ok that's fine. As we sat waiting we saw 2 cooks, 1 guy picked up a wooden poker and picked up some food I assume off the grill and ate it, he put the poker on a shelf with clean plates. Told her we had driven 10 miles based on their web site hours. No apologies. Said they need to update that. No offer to serve us. As we walked out she locked the door behind us. Went across the parking lot to Rio Grande Cantina and had a great lunch. We won't be back at Bistro 150. read more

The atmosphere has a really odd, confusing, and kind of indescribable vibe, with elements on both extremes of the casual-classy scale, and eclectic decor, to say the least. It's an intimately lit area to drink wine with friends, but it's also counter service with couch seating and their menu is printed in Comic Sans. The owner (who I assume was handling the register) was also kind of odd but ultimately friendly, outgoing, and attentive. We stopped by for dinner and the food was good, albeit a little pricey; expect to spend around $15. I ordered some sort of salmon salad, and the salmon was great, well seasoned with a nice texture. I really liked the mango chutney and avocado in the salad, too. The lettuce wasn't impressive, but that's just being picky. I spotted several other sandwich and pasta options on the menu that I may want to try another time.
