I love Fitz. It's a local staple. I always order the grilled veggie wrap with hot chips. The only adjustment I'd make is adding mushrooms to the wrap and honey mustard with the chips rather than ranch. Staff is always nice. Space is tight so I wouldn't go in a group larger than 4. read more

Absolutely one of my FAVORITE breakfast and lunch spot in Kernersville. Great location right on Main Street and the service is always impeccable. I've only ever been there once when there was so many people that it took a little longer to get our food and they were still great. The owner brought us a hot fresh cinnamon roll on the house and it was so good! The only down side is the space is very close quarters. Great hamburger! I have been wanting to try this place but the hours never seemed to work for me when in kernersville until now. Walked in and if you are extra large or using a walker or wheelchair this is probably not very accommodating. The line of counter stools greet you and they were filled up with regulars and working men. Luckily we snagged a table in the back. The food was reasonably priced and good. In downtown Kernersville around lunchtime craving a good sandwich and looked on Yelp! for a recommendation. Fitz On Main was first on the list and happened to be a block away so we gave it a try. Being that we are in the COVID-19 shut down, Fitz was taking call in orders with pick up around back. We didn't get the dining experience, but will definitely come back when we can. From the outside it appears to be a very cool place. We ordered the Rueben with fries and the Chicken Cordon Blu sandwich with fries. Both were excellent! The rye bread on the Rueben was buttery and perfectly toasted. Usually the bread isn't the standout of a Ruben, but it sure was awesome here. The Chicken Cordon Blu was terrific as well. Very friendly service and great sandwiches at good prices. This is a don't miss in downtown K'ville. read more

We've lived in this area for 2.5 years and have seen Fitz on Main many times but we had never tried it. We were out early for a doctor appointment and decided to try it...and were glad we did! It is very quaint little place...it's only 9 feet wide; it was originally an alley between 2 buildings. It was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was good; and it great prices too! I had an omelette that was perfectly made and seasoned. My husband had one of their ginormous pancakes and a side of hash browns. They were delicious too! They were actually tater tots, but they were perfectly crispy and made my husband a believer! He's never liked tater tots, but he said these were different, way better than he's had anywhere before. We will definitely go there again! We may go for lunch or for their Friday night, reservation only special meal! read more

All I can say is tiny place, big taste! You can definitely tell this place has been around FOREVER and it's got the antiques and photos to prove it. The menu is exactly what you would expect and seems to be unchanged throughout the years with the exception of a special or two. I think the most wild thing I saw on the menu was a fried bologna sandwich! I couldn't believe it, super old school southern (from what this Florida native can tell anyway) my friend ended up getting that with the onion rings and was just over the moon with both the sandwich and the onion rings! While I'm not a bologna eater I did manage to sneak an onion ring and they were fantastic! Crispy and well cooked on the inside as well. We got the basket of fries to start with some ranch and while the ranch was unusually thin it still did the job and the fries were hot and yummy as well. I got the patty melt and asked for a single which they accommodated and it was sooo good! The quality of beef used was very evident as it literally melted in my mouth in every bite of cheesy, bacony, goodness! I know bacony isn't a word but it is today lol. What a fun trip to a local establishment that's been around downtown Kernersville for decades and is sure to be around for decades more! read more

I ordered the turkey, bacon, and Swiss sandwich, a hot dog all the way, and fries. Sandwich: a very good sandwich with tasty ingredients and grilled perfectly. 'Nuff said. Hot dog: well above average. The slaw was excellent, the all-beef wiener was very good, but the chili was just average. Overall very enjoyable. Fries: they looked more overdone than they actually were, but they still tasted very good. This old fashioned diner is located in the heart of Kernersville and has great diner food and a homey atmosphere. I stopped in to get some breakfast to go, while not quick for 2 bacon egg and cheeses they were delicious! As I was waiting many people came and went many of them the staff seemed to know even one everyone called Grandpa, it was adorable. I had ordered hashbrowns as my sides but when the girl brought them out she apologized that they ran out of hashbrowns so they added Tots instead. To be honest I am glad! I don't know how good the hashbrowns are but the TOTs were perfection. There is limited seating inside (counter) two small tables outside and a few tables in the back. Also, if you are the least bit claustrophobic this isn't the place for you, probably the most narrow diner I have ever seen. My first impression was that this was a small, tight diner. Counter seating is the majority here with a few tables and chairs at the rear. Nothing special, lets eat our mediocre meal and go. Our waitress was quick to arrive and take our orders. I got the Patty Melt while my wife got the Little Burger. While waiting for our food I noticed that most, if not everyone else in the place seemed to be a regular. That's good that they have this much return business. I also noticed a few WWII era posters on the walls. Go USA! On another note, our wait after ordering seemed a little long. Maybe I was just hangry but you can tell from my 4 stars it didn't bother me too much. When our food arrived it looked GOOD! My wife's side of house chips were crunchy but not overcooked or greasy. My fries were the same way and both of us got large portions. The way the rye bread added flavor to my Patty Melt was a welcome change from regular loaf bread. My wife's burger was dressed well and the bacon was crispy. She ate the whole thing without a complaint. Overall, I recommend Fitz on Main. The service was good and the food tasted great. read more

Unique, affordable, delicious! We arrived at 11:30 before the lunch rush and were able to find a table. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. I had to run to the ATM down the street when I realized they only take cash. (Hence the four star rating) I ordered the special of the day: a cheeseburger. Requested no bun and added pimento cheese and bacon. Even though I was attempting to eat low-carb, I had to get the homemade chips. Everything was yummy! My kids each got a cheeseburger also. One with fries and one with onion rings. They both enjoyed their food as well. For three meals (two with drinks) it cost us less than $20...win! I love that this place used to be an alley. The bathrooms are tiny but it's part of the charm. My only recommendation is to put a curtain in front of the back room...it isn't very nice looking when you're about to eat. read more

From the moment I walked in, i felt at home. This is such a throwback to my childhood. Fitz on Main is not fancy or hip. It is warm and inviting and the kind of place where they call their customers by name. Its a tiny place and i loved the nostaglia on the walls and in the air. The Tuesday Special was Pinto beans and cornbread. Although, i thought that was odd for a sandwich shop, its a hot item. The gentleman that sat at the counter near me ordered the special and a hot dog. When i asked how the beans were he declared them delicious as he scooped up his last bite of beans with the cornbread crumbled up in them. They were being served up so often that I got two orders to go for my parents. My intention was to get the ruben but i decided on a fried bologna sandwich on grilled rye bread with cheese, mayo, mustard, lettutce, tomato and hot chips. The hot chips are worth the visit alone. Hands down the best hot chips I've ever eaten. They are thin and crispy and like eating hot potato chips. I loved them immensely. The bologna sandwich did not disappoint. The rye was grilled to perfection. Light, buttery and just the right crunch. Everything about that sandwich made me happy! Erma waited on me and was super busy but very kind and asked my name. Just move s to Kernersville and every time we walked by this place it was packed. Today we got a late lunch and actually got in with no wait. Decent menu. We both had a cheese burger, which is fried not grilled. They don't ask how you want it done so you have to tell them . Wait was a little long but it was worth it. The burgers were very good and the stack of thin cut fries (which I like rather than the coated ones) was huge. The server was a student from High Point University and she was very attentive. Two burgers and fries, two drinks, and a very nice tip $25. Tip: if you sit at the old fashioned counter the place is very narrow so you're going to get jostled some. And if you're a sizable person plan on using the restroom before you come here. But it wasn't a problem for us and we had a great lunch. read more

The pancakes are par for course for restaurant pancakes (think IHop) so don't expect to fluffy, buttered product you'd get at home. They are huge and very filling as well. A sign from Heaven... today was my 1st of many visits too come. This place has been creatively described in previous reviews & photos but they do not express the comfort you feel once you walk in. The colorful decor had my attention from the moment I walked in. The walls are covered in vintage/antique signage & local memorabilia. Once I was able to review the menu, I was now stuck in the mud. Thankfully the server helped me decide on the meal I was to enjoy. She suggested that I try the Angel's Burger(actual name may vary). This burger was your standard Gourmet format. Meat, cheese, fried egg, grilled onions on a toasty bun. Well hell, this burger was FAR BEYOND just that. I put my spin on this burger by adding mayo & mustard, this sent this burger to the heavens. I suggested to our server that we rename this burger to Dark Angel's burger. This is only because I almost died from the mouthful of flavor. I can't wait to come back & try something else. read more
