My family came for an early dinner. This was my first visit to the Kernersville location. The lady who took our order was very nice. My husband and I both ordered the black and bleu. The burger toppings were tasty and complemented the patty well. The internal temperature of the burger was fine. The outside was over-charred, so it took away from the overall flavor. I have been a long time fan of BBS, coming every time I was in town for family. My dad visited at least once a week for lunch and I would be so jealous. Not anymore unfortunately. All I can think is a change of ownership/management. Several brands have changed (drink & condiments to name a few) and the atmosphere has gone downhill. Very empty (both of guests and decor) so the food came quickly. Portions have gotten smaller and just wasn't impressive. The bun on my burger was about half the size of the patty. Going the a la carte route can add up depending on the options selected, but the base prices (under $10 for a 1/3 pound burger, fries excluded) are fairly reasonable. During a recent visit, my wife and I went with a Black and Blue and a Lonestar Burger, respectively, and split an order of parmesan garlic fries. Both burgers were flavorful, and the toppings (crispy onions and jalapeno relish on the Lonestar and pungent bleu cheese on the Black and Blue) paired well with them. The oily, garlicky fries were satisfying as well though not as much of a standout as the burgers. While the cashier was a bit brusque, the cooks were friendlier and very efficient. From vegan to bison to hot dogs and more, Big Burger Spot offers plenty of possibilities worth investigating. Prices are for the sandwich only and do not include chips or fries. My husband ordered the patty melt and I ordered the chicken philly. I was expecting thinner pieces of chicken, but they were big chunks which made it harder to eat. Both of us thought our sandwiches were okay, but there are other burger/sandwich places we prefer. Overall I felt like it was a little over priced considering it's counter quick service and does not include a side. Two poor experiences in a row. They have fallen off their game here. Food takes forever and comes out over done. My experience today- Took 30 minutes for my wife and I's food to come out and mine was burned to a crispy. Had to request a new burger which took another 15-20 minutes to come out. The second burger was also charred black and honestly I just ate it because I was ready to leave. On top of it, we were the only ones in the restaurant so this wasn't due to them being busy. I started to give this place 4 stars due to a snarky teenager that just doesn't belong in the customer service business. But our cashier was actually great, hopefully she doesn't have to share the tip we left with the dork beside her. My burger was cooked to a perfect medium, had tons of flavor and the bun was perfectly buttered, toasted and soft. I had the Lonestar Burger with beef brisket and jalapeño relish. It did need a little more in the condiment department for my liking but overall this was a flavor bomb thanks to the kick of that relish. So there are mixed feelings with this Big Burger Spot! It's a brand new location that is done quite well compared to the older locations in the area. However, they seem to be really struggling, and after reading the previous reviews, everything seems to make sense on why the struggles are real! The attention to detail seem to be severely lacking. One of the youngest employees that works the register doesn't know the menu or it's offerings...and doesn't care to either! She can't answer some basic questions about the meat itself. Now I ordered the Impossible Burger, not due to being a vegan or vegetarian, but simply trying a plant based lifestyle for a while. When I have to go on my own assumption of what the Impossible Burger is, versus a vegan who would be quite upset if you the employee can't answer that question, that's a major problem! The Impossible Burger is quite delicious indeed! It was cooked fantastically, excellent flavor, and with the usual toppings that included fried onion petals...all I can say is wow! I would go as far as to say that a meat lover, such as myself, would have a hard time knowing had I not been the one who ordered it! The fries are normally pretty good, but tonight the fries were overdone! The lack of knowledge regarding your own menu, the missing lettuce on the ordered burger, the individual size fries instead of the shared size fries which was ordered, the full trash cans all lead to the appearance of a lack of care or attention to detail. A young sounding lady took my order and was very pleasant - based on that I had high hopes. Well unfortunately the food tasted as if it had been sitting for 30+ minutes and the fries were legit cold and honestly tasted as though they were cooked that morning. We live really close so it took my hubs 8min to arrive, est pick up time was 10-15min. I understand that fries can taste like crap when they're takeout but these were no bueno.
