Bender's Tavern is definitely worth a visit. The fish and chips are really good and highly recommended. During the winter, they offer seasonal chicken and dumplings, and if you can catch it, I absolutely recommend trying it. The Mediterranean wrap is also really, really good. Honestly, just try their food and you're bound to find something you'll love because the menu has great options. Their drinks are amazing, and the bartender staff is out of this world. I've just recently started going to Benders on a couple Sundays with a good friend who's been going there for years. The atmosphere is perfect for watching football. A different game in every TV! There's a patio, bar and multiple tables so you have your choice of where to hang out. The menu has a lot of options! I've had the mini corn dogs which were crispy and delicious. This is definitely a bar that offers some food items, and you probably need to do some of the bar scene first, and then try the food. Our call in order of a Hot Dog, a BBQ Sandwich, and a Cheeseburger took just over 30 minutes and the wait really wasn't worth it. The Hot Dog had a decent enough wiener, but there was just too much mustard, and the obviously canned chili contained BEANS, and no zip. The BBQ Sandwich was mostly bread - there was a thin layer of pork. soaked in a sweet, red sauce, and an even thinner layer of a strange tasting slaw. The Cheeseburger was better than average, but the FF were the ridged rectangles from hell - no flavor, no seasoning, and no texture. The other side was Pasta Salad, also dull. The bar scene here might be good - there are all sorts of games, amusements, a pool table, and 3 or 4 big screen TV's. They have a wide selection of beers to choose from, and daily drink specials. Might want to give that a try, but the food is just not worth the price, with the possible exception of the Burger. read more

This is my Sunday football bar. They do $1 off beers, and play as many games as they can fit on the televisions. The crowd is made up of mostly Sunday regulars, with some new faces that come in every now and then. I've ordered most of the food on the menu at different times, and everything has been good. I absolutely love their mozzarella sticks and their fried mac -n- cheese. The quesadillas are worth it to order, as they are dripping with toppings. The pizzas are great for a non-pizza place. The hot ham and cheese is excellent as well. And, of course, my favorite would be the sweet potato fries. Being a regular on a particular day makes the service seem all that more spectacular. The bartenders as well as one of the owners know me by name, and that puts a smile on my face. I have ventured in for lunch, only to find an empty bar and service that was slightly below par. The entertainment is great. They do trivia every Tuesday night (which I cannot usually attend as it's later in the evening I have to get up in the morning). They do karaoke every Friday night. One Thursday a month they play Bingo for some awesome prizes. Now that summer is right around the corner, they are getting ready for at least 3 cornhole tournaments. They do live bands some weekend nights as well. The decor makes the place seem extremely cozy. They recently put up a shelving display behind the bar so that you do not have to lean over the bar to see what bottled beers they have. They have all sorts of signs and sports decor on the walls, displayed tastefully. There are video games, a pool table, and a music machine as well. They have recently taken Big Buck Hunter out, which is to my dismay, however, I still enjoy my visits! read more

I like the consistency of this bar. Open late, friendly staff that makes sure they learn your name. I thought I was special for a minute there, uhhh no. lol There is plenty of seating at the bar or side booths. I saw at least one pool table, and several arcade games. The patio is in the front facing market so it's pretty active and a people magnet. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of their wings. Maybe it was the ones I got, but I wouldn't try them again. This place is a whole lot nicer than I expected. The bar and tables are nice and there are a few arcade type games and a patio for dining out front though not very scenic facing parking lot and Market St. I was lured in by a Groupon ($20 for $10). I have to say, money well spent. It was pretty empty around 2pm but nonetheless, I started my Saturday afternoon (Yankees vs Rays) at a high table in the center of the joint with boneless wings (half lemon pepper and half hot teriyaki) as an app. The wings were large chunks of chic breast. The batter did not adhere well to the poultry. The lemon pepper flavor was dry rubbed and non existing. The later flavor was not exciting at all. I followed the app with the burger pictured. My wife and I stopped in yesterday while waiting on our house closing appointment. Domestic beer was on special for 2.50 which is fair price. I had a Guinness which is never on sale anywhere. I had the buffalo chicken wrap which was a tad spicy but very flavorful and easy on the taste buds. My wife had a pizza which she spoke highly of and thoroughly enjoyed and had to bring half of it home since it was so large in size. The tavern has both bottle and draft beer as well as a large liquor selection. Many arcade games and a pool table. Outdoor seating which I think would be a popular seat during the warmer months. We had been here for lunch and enjoyed it. Decided to stop in for a bite after work. There was one bartender/waitress for the entire bar. The bar was full and there were 6 tables of customers. It was ridiculous to expect her to handle the whole place, so the service was subpar. We ordered pretzel bites appetizer, buffalo chicken wrap and wings. Appetizer came after the meal. The chicken in the wrap had a funny texture so I decided to get it to go so I could take it home and look at it in some light. We never got drink refills and were given $10 too much change, which we gave back. She said a ten got mixed in with ones (good way to lose a lot of $). When I got home I discovered I was given shrimp, not chicken. The receipt even said chicken. Glad I didn't have a shellfish allergy! Not sure that we'll go back, seems poorly managed. read more

I went for the first time on a Saturday night to watch football with some friends. There were plenty of TV's and tables, and the specials were awesome (15.00 a bucket for craft beers...from a pretty good list of 40 or so). The food was mediocre, but not bad at all for a divish sports pub. The crowd was a pretty good mixture of demographics, and there was definitely a pleasantly jovial feel to the bad. They also had quite an array of arcade/skill games there, as well as a single pool table. The outside area had a few additional tables on the deck available for smoking. This was a fun place- as the previous reviewer stated its low key. The crowd ranged from 20 somethings to Cougars. The bar staff did a great job accommodating a large birthday party and did a nice pour on drinks. They were very nice all night. They also have some pretty amazing drink specials for that area. They have a huge selection of girly drinks called "Bender Bowls" and those were yummy- try the Gummy Worm! They also have a large selection of bar food and sandwiches. I was told it was a good bar but they stop going years ago when they had trouble with the bartender adding more to the credit card tip. So I stop in Friday and same thing happen to me. Should not allow these people to work at your bar. Mix drink was not great, bad ice or old soda. read more

It has been a little while since we have visited Benders, it was right before COVID. The menu now is VERY LIMITED. If you are going to meet up with friends for beverages it is a great place. The beverage prices are great. I would not plan to go there for the food. read more

I came here initially under the impression that this is where the south carolina gamecock club watches the games. Having gone to gamecock club events in other cities, I expected a good turnout and the staff to take care of the fans. However, that was not the case and it's now no surprise that hardly any fans were there. The waitress ignored us mostly and messed up orders constantly. She was more concerned with egging on the extremely rowdy crew of drunk guys who kept blocking our view of the game when they stood up to chug from beer pitchers and sing at the top of their lungs. We ended up leaving at half time because the atmosphere was so terrible. Those guys should have been cut off.
