Too many restaurants are cutting corners by purchasing chopped onions from the food service guys. DON'T DO IT! I can spot 'em a mile away. Just don't do it! These onions were chopped this morning. The slaw is made fresh each morning. It is crisp, and sweet with just the right amount of mayo. The chili was very good. Also made on site everyday. I tried one of each, and while both were good, I enjoyed the red better. Just had more flavor. Also $1 cheaper! Both a tad pricey, but two of us got out for about $16+tip. They do take plastic, but there is a 3% charge. All in all, this is a very good hotdog in a region full of good dogs. These are about 50 minutes from Winston-Salem.

We got to the restaurant around 4 when they opened and decided to sit at the bar. They are located in a strip mall which can be hard to find but just look for RIDGE in big block letters. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful when it came to selecting menu items (the menu is on a chalk board behind the bar). We told her we had never been in and she made sure to make our dinner special. We started with the mussels and oysters and I knew after those two dishes we would absolutely be back again and again. The broth the mussels are cooked in was divine and I loved that they gave us bread and butter on the side to go with it. The oysters had a hollandaise sauce which really brought the baked oysters with spinach, onion, and bacon together. For our entrees my husband got scallops in a Cajun cream sauce with grit cakes which was phenomenal and I got the sesame crusted flounder with collards and grits. The fish was so plump and juicy and I loved the hot sauce on the table to go with it. The collards were nice and vinegary like I like them and the grits were creamy. For dessert we decided on the banana bread pudding and it was an absolute show stopper. So much so it's going down as a best dish of 2026 for me. Upon checking in to our room we found out that there is no fridge in our room and made a complaint. The moment receptionist said only higher up floors have a mini fridge due to some shortages and group event. I told her that we are apart of the group and I'm in 7th floor out of their 12 floors. The following day I got a chat and I voiced my complaint and I got my mini fridge. It shouldn't be like this - to be a Karen. Plus one of our bed was soaked with moisture, at first thinking my kids spilled some water. But it's the bed was soaked prior to our stay. Had them changed the bed sheets and my wife has to use the hair dryer to get it dry. Plus the lobby has no air conditioning. It seems like some people have the same problem prior.

I enjoyed my time here and, in general, I think this is a great resort for the Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point). I was born and raised in High Point and remember when Grandover opened in 1999. After 27 years, I finally got to visit. From the golf course to the hotel, I could tell the property has seen better days (e.g., details in course conditioning and building maintenance). As I wrote in my review for the golf course separately, this is not uncommon for golf facilities that were built during the last golf course boom in the 80s and 90s. The hotel is still quite nice, though, and is on the higher, more luxurious end. I checked the 2026 listing of AAA Four Diamond hotels and Grandover is still on the list, along with the O.Henry Hotel, Proximity Hotel, and Kimpton Cardinal Hotel as the only four hotels in the Triad with that status. Cocktail hour and dinner took place in the Grandville Ballroom. I guesstimate there were about 150-175 attendees. The ballroom worked well for this event, including all A/V aspects. The buffet-style dinner was delicious; in particular, the short rib and cobbler. The bartenders at the hotel bar, 1808 Bar (named after the year the city of Greensboro was founded), were initially overwhelmed with the post-dinner rush. The bar appeared to be decently stocked and my drink, the Hugo Spritz (St-Germain, champagne, club soda) was refreshing. 1808 Bar is located right in front of the hotel restaurant, Finial. I stayed in Room 421, on the fourth floor, with a view of the fountains, parking lot, and a stretch of I-85 which I have driven on countless times over the years. I really liked my room. It was luxe and spacious. Consistent with resorts in this tier, some of the finer features included robes (no logo, though), a nice mini bar, personalized TV guest screen, and rain shower head. The bed was super comfy. The cost for one night was $249. After sales tax (6.75%) and occupancy tax (6%), the total was $280.75. The room charge was "resort fee exempt," so it was discounted from a normal stay since I stayed with a group. Service was professional and speedy. The bellhops were particularly welcoming, friendly, and eager to serve. The art gallery and golf mural rotunda are neat. My only criticism is that after golf, everyone tried to shower at the same time, which meant no hot water for many. I waited a long time for my shower water to heat up. However, the next morning when I took another shower, the water heated up in a normal amount of time. Nothing. Management is aware of our displeasure and have offered to move us if/when a 50 amp site becomes available. Thanks, but I'm not tearing down to move, so no thanks. We are long time TT members and we are very disappointed at how this whole "assigned site" thing is being handled. We'll be fine on the current campsite, but we won't be coming back to this campground
