I was very pleased with Safe & Sound Moving. Two things really impressed me. First, this is a small team of the very best movers. Jabber is the person who answered my initial call and explained the pricing to me. He also showed up to lead the team on moving day, along with his brother and a third mover. My wife and I chose Safe & Sound Moving Company for our move from Chapel Hill, North Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia. We chose Safe & Sound because of the company's stellar Yelp reviews and its average Yelp rating when compared to other moving companies in the Triangle. Safe & Sound seemed like a safe bet and I'm happy to report that it was. We moved from a two-bedroom apartment to a two-bedroom condo. We added on: (1) a stop to drop off furniture at my parents' house in High Point, North Carolina and (2) haul-away of some items in Atlanta. The total cost for everything was $4,075, broken down as follows: * 2 movers + equipment, loading in Chapel Hill (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * 2 movers + equipment, loading in Chapel Hill (0.5 hour, additional time required) - $77.50 * 2 movers + equipment, unloading in High Point (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * 2 movers + equipment, unloading in Atlanta (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * Deposit for travel and truck - $50 * Haul-away (junk removal) of double mattress, double box spring, bed frame, one standard dining room chair, and torchiere floor lamp - $125 * Remainder of balance for travel - $2,875 * Additional cost/payment - $182.50 * Tip for mover 1 - $150 * Tip for mover 2 - $150 A $485 total deposit was due upfront to secure the reservation. We asked for the movers to show up at a specific date and time. We paid the $485 total deposit 26 days in advance with a credit card. The rest ($3,590) was paid via multiple Zelle transactions after we arrived in Atlanta. In hindsight, I think I may have overpaid $50 because the $50 deposit for the travel and truck was included in our $485 total deposit. I believe that same $50 was included in the remainder of the balance for travel. In other words, I think the $2,875 above should have been $2,825, but I could be wrong. Also, in my stress and exhaustion from the move, I forgot what the additional cost/payment of $182.50 was for. It made sense at the time, when I signed the form ("Uniform Household Goods Bill of Lading - 35 Miles or Less") after the move was complete. I was just happy it was over and that my wife, the movers, and I all made it safely to Atlanta in three separate vehicles on moving day. I do think all of the costs could have been communicated more clearly in writing for our understanding. Money aside, as for the move itself, it generally went well. We scheduled a 9:00-10:00am arrival window for the movers. This was on a Wednesday. We were packed and ready to go at 9am. Unfortunately, the movers were delayed and showed up around 10:45am. They arrived in a 26-foot white Penske truck. It's my understanding they rented it that morning. While it was overkill for the amount of stuff we had, I believe it was the best available truck at the time. It looked new. The movers were Hamza (lead) and Sula. They were great. Very kind and polite. These were young guys in their early 20s. They both wore Safe & Sound T-shirts. They worked hard, quickly and carefully wrapping and protecting our queen mattress and furniture with stretch wrap and blankets, and moving all sorts of heavy boxes and miscellaneous items (e.g., my awkward and heavy standing desk system, computer monitor, office chair mat, torchiere floor lamp, vacuum cleaner) from our third-floor apartment with no elevator on a hot summer day. At the loading site, we treated them to cold Gatorades. It took them about 1.5 hours to do the load in Chapel Hill. We left Chapel Hill around roughly 12:30pm. Hamza ran the show. We made it clear which items were to be dropped off first in High Point and which items were going all the way to Atlanta. No issues there. My parents were very happy with Hamza and Sula's work at the unload in High Point. The two made it to Atlanta around 10:00pm and the unload in Atlanta took less than an hour. Long day. My wife and I made it to Atlanta earlier - around 7:30pm. Unlike Hamza and Sula, we did not stop in High Point. We wanted to get to Atlanta before them so we could get the condo ready for the unload. It worked out. Hamza told me they were going to try and drive back to Raleigh/Cary that night! Only one of our items, a shoe rack, was damaged. All things considered, not a big deal so I didn't bring it up. I can remember three other moves I did with three other moving companies and one item was damaged in each move. It happens. For the haul-away, I only mentioned the mattress and box spring. I added on the other items when I saw them in Atlanta. They didn't charge me extra for that, which I appreciate and must mention here. Move started out great, but did not end well. One of the guys re-assembled a very expensive desk incorrectly, and in attempting to resolve this, stripped a screw. The crew basically shrugged and said "sorry" as they did not have tools on hand to pull and fix a stripped screw, leaving me SOL. This may have been a two-star event as the rest of the move was great. However, there were lighting fixtures lining the sidewalk that they pulled and after the fact, I noticed some of the stakes were broken. These were left piled up and not re-inserted in ground. We were moving a 5-bedroom house ~600 miles and were worried that our stuff would get lost or damaged along the way, but everything was carefully wrapped and locked up so it all made the trip in good condition. Unfortunately, it had been raining both on our move-out and move-in dates; however, the team powered through while being polite and careful the entire time. Our experience thus far with Safe & Sound Moving Company has added up to a ton of stress. RECAP THUS FAR: THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY & YOUR TIME & WRECK YOUR ITEMS! After several hard days of moving we were met with the despicable truth that one of their employees had committed FRAUD, stealing not only our credit card but checks as well. The person who stole it was idiotic enough to immediately head over to Walmart and charge over $1,000 dollars in products and then rent a RedBox DVD. This is so despicable words cannot describe, if you pay for "safe & sound DON'T MOVE WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY, TIME & SANITY. Don't believe their promises. When originally booking with them we talked to a man who was responsive and helpful. We asked allot of questions due to our moving being pretty last minute and he answered them all well and when we explained the time constraint we were told it was no problem and they could get it done and if for some reason they hadn't finished packing by the end of the business day the supervisor would just pay overtime and get it done that day. Well the day rolls around and the movers show up, no masks, no uniforms and the majority of them seemed like this was just a side job throwing some things, dancing and singing to their music, continually joking around. But even though some of those workers obviously need training it's more the company as a whole that we're incredibly unhappy with. THEY DIDN'T BRING ENOUGH BOXES....TWICE! & left well before 5PM, hours before b/c they didn't have supplies to continue packing & they didn't want to come back. They promised they would bring enough the next day, get there early, bring more workers & that they would be done by the morning and able to move our things into a POD before the facility closed. The supervisor promised that he would come and help too if it was looking like time would be an issue. We stated multiple times to both the workers and their supervisors that we only had those days and then we were closing, so we asked them to contact their supervisor to let him know we needed help. Now if the supervisor is to be believed they didn't call when we asked them to, when we kept mentioning it (hours later) which at that point the supervisor said he would come to supervise the unloading now but not help with the moving.... We busted our butts to get everything and all the stuff out to the curb and then the movers started laughing....allot...they called me over and laughingly told me that I now had to choose what to take and they were going to start moving our things BACK in the house! THEY HADNT BROUGHT A BIG ENOUGH TRUCK EITHER. SO not enough boxes (twice) and not a big enough truck. This is the point where I started desperately trying to contact the management. They wouldn't answer the phone for any of us including the worker. Quite a bit later they text to say they'd already come up with a plan with my husband and they would continue the NEXT DAY! He actually hadn't yet talked to my husband so my husband called him again and finally reached him. When I got on the line and reminded them of their promises they tried to claim they hadn't made them but text messages are records of your claims and we have those. Eventually they said ok we did say those things, however they obviously don't want to come through on delivering those promises! I requested a supervisor attend the next day to make sure things go well since schedule-wise we couldn't afford another day of this crap. They ruined multiple items of ours already including a bespoke picture frame my grandfathers had crafted art frame, multiple art pieces, the frame of our door, scratches all over our walls and as an example they were sticking pieces of tape to grab ONTO OUR WOODEN DRESSER. When they yanked the strips off they were yanking the paint with it! Well at the end of that day (11/17) the supervisor tried to back out again on not showing up today (11/18). We explained that was unacceptable under the circumstances and they agreed unhappily to attend again on (11/18). Well on the way to them this morning (11/18) we got a text saying the supervisor was backing out again!!!! He didn't even offer a replacement. What made it an even more bitter pill to swallow is that yesterday movers from another moving company came and we're moving things into a house up the street. They had uniforms, wore masks (Safe & Sound movers don't wear PPE), those movers from Trosa wore gloves, brought plenty of people and they were being so incredibly careful of those people's things so we could quite literally see the difference in customer care. Update: things stolen and a giant quantity of our things wrecked. we're done unpacking. Random bottles (unsecured) w/liquids has ruined my clothes. read more

Wow. Where do I begin? I found this moving company on Yelp. Most of the reviews were positive, but there was one review that was extremely critical (and I think legitimately so) and it made me nervous. We were moving a long distance -- from Raleigh to a suburb of Philly. I wondered whether it made sense to hire a local moving company as opposed to a more established national moving company (like Two Men and a Truck). The quote I received from Safe and Sound was consistent with others we got, and Hadi was extremely responsive -- so we decided to move forward. Plus, I know those big name companies typically lack in customer service. Hadi sold me on his responsiveness to be honest! In the end, I had nothing to worry about. Our movers arrived to our Raleigh home on time. And then they arrived the next morning to our new home in Pennsylvania. Hadi was really great to work with and explained everything very clearly, including any extras we might need (TV boxes for example). I liked that the process was transparent (although of course it's difficult to estimate the price), without hidden fees and charges. The movers (four of them) were very friendly and professional and nice to work with. We moved about five miles on a Saturday in late April. We had all of our items packed into boxes/bins and had moved about half of the boxes to the new place already. They took the other boxes as well as the furniture items. Nothing ended up missing or damaged (and we had packed ourselves so not everything was packed brilliantly). It did end up costing us quite a bit (about $1100 for moving half of the house, which took about about half a day?) but we've never used movers before so we have no comparison. But the service was completely worth it, since we would not have been able to move everything ourselves (I'm pregnant, but even without that we wouldn't have been able to do it without my husband taking time off, bumming friends for free labor, etc.). What we would have changed is not having them wrap our furniture in tons of plastic wrap (not sure if this is company policy or if we should have refused this, my husband was the one who was with them during this packing up stage). Our furniture isn't expensive and we would have rather saved the time (aka money) and plastic waste by not having our items wrapped. Similarly, they took some pieces apart (ex: doors off of bookshelf) that seemed like they could have been left in one piece to save time and wear/tear on both ends of the trip. My husband and I have been in moving hell between the corrupt movers in our old city of Fort Lauderdale and the horrible appliance delivery service from the local Home Depot. I was dreading booking a mover in the Raleigh area to get from our temp apartment into our new home. We booked the minimum two hour time slot, plus travel fee for three movers. They showed up in the window that they said they would. We had moved a LOT of the boxes over to our new place on our own, along with some smaller items, but there was no way we could do some of the heavy stuff. We had a two person bench, king bed, queen bed, heavy library cabinet, dresser, chest and another large table. The drive from the old place to the new one was 11 miles. I'm happy to report that this was all done under the two hour window I had paid for, including the travel time between homes. The moving team consisted of Wilson and two other men. The morning of my 8 am move, Omar texted me at about 7:30 to let me know the guys were on the way! Major and Rodney arrived EARLY by a few minutes and they began packing my boxes. The truck got to my new place before me (Charlotte) and began unloading. Unloading was a lot of "where do you want this," which was fine for furniture, but so man boxes were unlabeled with which room they had belonged that I finally just asked that they dump every box that had no label into the living room. I would say the lack of labeling was the only thing that was not perfect. Furniture was wrapped and moved with care. Nothing broke in transit! They were super quick working not wasting any time on the clock, while also being cautious and safe with all the objects. It wasn't a long move,but Trevon,Jalen,and Trell did a phenomenal job.They were fast,conscientious, and handled a really difficult part of the move,with very little muss or fuss. We had 2 large armoires that needed to be moved,and despite the space limitations to get them moved in,they figured it out,and got them moved in,with very little effort.
