I tried every key shop I could find and kept being told that my car was old and the key wasn't hi-tech enough for them to replace. Even a dealership wanted a fortune to get it made by the manufacturer with a long wait for delivery. Then I spotted X Locksmith in the halls of the Watertown Mall, just across from the Registry. I was not expecting a positive answer, especially since the "shop" isn't even a building. It's a couple of counters and a display case. They service all kinds of sexy newer cars, but they did not for a second hesitate to help with my "old lady" car. I recently lost one of my keys and decided to get a couple of replacements. George is still terrific. No problem that it's an older car. In less than an hour he cut and programmed two new keys and even threw in an extra manual key so I would have a "backup." Great guy, great service, competitive prices. I would use them again anytime.

In this line of business it seems exploitative to hide your costs until they are on site. Furthermore, he charges a 3.5% cc fee unless you leave him a review...while he waits. I did not agree to this strong arm strategy and ultimately he waived the cc fee. Point is, ask up front for costs and look elsewhere unless you're in a dire pinch.

We then turned to Yelp and they were the only local locksmith with a review - glad it was at least a positive one. Champion Locksmith seemed quite professional. It took them about 75 minutes to get to our house which was within 10 minutes of their estimate. Pros: They were very friendly and professional They checked my ID (although it was after opening the door) Took 2-3 minutes to unlock the door (feels a bit unsettling) Provided invoice Cons: Required check on the spot A bit expensive at $95 Invoice PO Box is out of West Roxbury (v. It was the first beautiful day after a week of rain, and I'm guessing all other in the phone book took the day off. My neighbor let me into our building and helped me leave messages for over 10 locksmiths. Most went to a voicemail service saying to leave a message and someone will call back within 10 minutes. Well I didn't hear from a SINGLE ONE! So I saw an add for Champion which said emergency service 25/7 so I called. Someone (very friendly) answered by the second ring. He told me someone would be at my place within a half hour. The locksmith showed up about 20 minutes later and was able to get me in my apartment within seconds! The only reason I gave 4 stars out of 5 was because it was pricey. I was expecting it to be between $50 and $100 based on what I know friends have paid, but Champion charged $125. I can't complain, they were the only ones who showed up and the service was excellent! If your life is on hold, what's an extra 25 bucks. Thank you Champion Locksmith!

As soon as he was done with his client, it took no more than 10 minutes for him to arrive at my house. The service was done in 15 minutes flat. He definitely has the most competitive rates for key copying and generating. I assure you, going to your dealership would cost as much as double, possibly triple. He services Burlington, Woburn, and surrounding areas. He accepts all major credit cards, cash, possibly personal checks (but who really carries that, anymore?), "anything you have". This was a service that I am astounded by and I cannot truly say enough how great Mike and his business are. This guy is the right person for you.
