I would not do business with this company ever again. In this line of business it seems exploitative to hide your costs until they are on site. Furthermore, he charges a 3.5% cc fee unless you leave him a review...while he waits. I did not agree to this strong arm strategy and ultimately he waived the cc fee. Point is, ask up front for costs and look elsewhere unless you're in a dire pinch.

I used the East Coast web page to make an appointment early Friday evening. Tim came to my home as…read morepromised at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday to make a new key for my 18 year old BMW convertible. Two weeks prior, I had asked a BMW dealership to do the same for me, but when they quoted $1080, I said "forget it." Tim's van is like a library of key parts, a computer controlled key cutter and loads of techie devices and software. In just a short while, Tim had re-birthed a brand new BMW key fob that was perfectly programmed for keyless entry and ignition start. He also cut a new (metal) key that was a part of the BMW electronic fob (years ago) that opens the driver's door lock. All in all, this was one of the most satisfying auto repair experiences in 55 years of my personal car ownership. Bravo Tim!

Then, at the five minute mark they called me again saying they took a wrong turn and would be at my location in seven minutes which then turned to ten. I waited over an hour and once the technician finally got the lock off he said it would be $120. Then when i handed him the cash he said it was also $29 for the service fee and I said you didn't tell me this, you quoted $80-$120 which I gave you and he practically harassed me for the $29 service fee but honestly it was him just swindling me and he got his instant karma because he couldn't get the lock off his drill, or got stuck! Never doing business with them again and it was sad that they came as a recommendation

And hmm, I could swear that there were negative reviews of them before (that seem to have mysteriously disappeared). There sure are a lot of questionable good reviews, though, and that should tell you something. I called for a quote and was kinda hustled into an appointment. I know, I know... but the quote was in line with what the handyman said the job would cost so ok, fine. On Friday morning, the first employee took the locks apart, realized he didn't have the part to finish the job and put the locks back together. He said that this part normally would cost $30 more but that he would do it for the quoted price on Monday. Ok, that happens. But when I went to leave, the handle fell apart in my hands. Many, many hours later, they sent another employee to fix the handle who was actually able to do the job that the first guy couldn't. Great, right? Problem is, I was charged more than twice the quoted price and was told I should take it up with the office but that I had to pay it. I said that HE should call the office (surely he had some way to reach them, even at 10:00pm on a Friday--and yes, I had been stuck at home all day) but he refused. I pointed out that the first guy hadn't mentioned anything more than a potential $30 difference. Nope, I had to cough up the $200. (Or, rather, my boyfriend did, just to get the guy to leave.) So I contacted the office and couldn't get any phone call or email back. I wasn't nearly as adamant as I could have been (I felt uncomfortable getting aggressive with a pushy, sketchy locksmith company that knows where I live.) but I definitely made my problems known and they chose to ignore me. Boo!
