While at a wedding in West Virginia with spotty internet access, I got a call saying relatives at our house in Cambridge could not open the front door. The handle was frozen. It had been increasingly balky, but I wanted to wait to service it when I was having a new lock put on a new door elsewhere in the house. My two complaints are that the service fee ($95) was not included in my original quote and when the work was compelted, I found all of the old door knobs, locks, screws and hardware just left out near each site. I understand that there may be a service fee ($95 seems high), but it should have been included in the original quote. I am a senior citizen and based on other locksmith estimates find myself in a situation where a locksmith charged us a fortune, did not provide a receipt with the breakdown of charge and when I called him a few days after work,was done he told me that I will NOT find a locksmith who would have charged me less. Well I did find a locksmith on Angie's List whose estimate is a lot lower. Once I secured the estimate from the Angie's List locksmith I tried to elicit a willingness of Finest Locksmith owner to,speak with me but he did not respond. Is he reputable? His business card email address bounced back. On his website he has two different emails listed. I sent an email and also completed the online contact me form. This is the estimate from a reputable Locksmith listed on Angie's List that I am going by: Service call.....$50 (during regular business hours) Re-key each keyhole......$35 Open lock for attic......$35 Supply new lock for attic....$40+tax Install new lock for attic....$15 I am living on Social Security I come and arefuse to be dismissed and feeling ripped off to the tune of $240. A young man came to my house and changed two deadbolts and two knob locks and proceeded to completely overcharge me! It was terrible! I was alone in my new house with this man who had the keys to my new locks! He was demanding several hundred dollars for a job that should have cost a fraction of what he was asking! I Purchased a key from establishment less than a year ago! My key have fallen apart, battery popped out and died! I went to ask them to repair it and they were trying to charge me another $50 on top of the 200 that I paid them less than a year ago. When we moved into our new home, our front door lock was already having some problems. The first time, we called a locksmith in the neighborhood who charged us $350 for the visit and fixing the lock temporarily. He told us that eventually, we would have to replace the whole lock system which would cost us $600-700. The temporary fix was broken within a week. Then through our home insurance, we found out about Nikolai. He gave me a 30 min heads up call before arriving and as soon as he arrived, he got right to work. He worked fast and explained that there was no need to replace the whole lock. He was able to fix the front door permanently at the fraction of the price from the first locksmith that came. Wow! Nikolai was amazing. I happened to break my key in the door knob/lock and was unable to get it out, oh and this was at 11:45 at night. I did a quick google search and started calling. Finest Locksmith was my third call and the only person who answered the phone! I explained my situation and he said he could do it. I sent him a photo of the door knob and he texted me back the price and that he'd be here within 20-30 minutes, which he was. He came out and fixed my issue within minutes and even offered to make a copy of the key! I appreciated his humor about the situation too because this could have been a huge problem for the apartment building when nobody could get in or out. He was a tad pricey but fair given I had no other options and I called close to midnight. He takes cash or even credit card which made my life easier!
