I stopped by a few weekends ago on a Saturday after the Farmers Market. This quaint little doggie boutique is a great place for higher end pet products. Customer service is outstanding however be prepared to pay a premium. They have a large bucket of water for dogs walking by and offer treats for your pup when you come in! read more

What a great store! Nice selection of stuff here for all types of dog lovers. I'm a big dog kind of girl, not really into dressing up teeny dogs in fancy outfits.. but I know there's a big market for that stuff these days and Murphy's Paw has it. The thing I loved about this store was that it didn't feel like they're catering to those types. There was a nice selection of different toys, bones, leashes, collars, beds and food that will appeal to all the different types of dog lovers out there. They even have a little corner of cute cat stuff, too! A lot of the products are organic, which is a big plus. You won't find most of this stuff at the chain stores. Very friendly staff, too! :) read more

I went their over the weekend while they were having a photo shoot for dogs, the proceeds went to the Humane society, huge plus!!! This was my first time, and it is a really nice store, they have alot of odds and really cool ideas for your pets, I do love the jewlery they carry for animal lovers, the only thing that did not call me were the prices, a bit pricey especially in this time of age....im not sure i could spend almost $30.00 on a blanket that could be easily made by just about anyone that can tie a knot. I will recommend this place to anyone that can afford it, as for now im all about bargins! read more

Best in the bay area! Great selection, unique items, and nice people. You can even get your dog's photo on their TV slide show for all to see! read more

Great Bark and Brews..more places should have this...I love the updates and my dogs love the yummy treats. Would like more harness selection and leash selection... read more

Good selection of doggy items but the service wasn't the best and items had incorrect price tags on them

I am not a dog owner, but I do come into the store to wander around and see the products when I go visit downtown Pleasanton. The owner and the staff is extremely helpful. They are warm, welcoming and absolutely knowledgeable about the products. read more

I was across the street at Tully's having a caramel macchiato when I saw a postcard for Pleasanton businesses giving a 15% discount at select stores. I am going away for the weekend, so I thought I would buy my 3 yorkies matching shirts for the trip. When I walked into the store, my eyes were immediately drawn to a unique dog dish made from a skateboard deck. Then right above that, a dog bed made from a wine barrel! I was very impressed and ordered a custom dog skateboard dish. Both the owner and an employee greeted me as I walked into the store and were very friendly and helpful. Warning: Don't step on Amedeous! Amedeous is the owner's Newfoundland. He is so fluffy he looks like a rug....He greets the customers and dogs when they walk in, as dogs are welcome in the store. read more

If your a dog lover this is a great place for you... But I'm a cat lover and they have a very small section of cat stuff. Although i found cat perfume for my cat and now she smells GREAT. I would stop by again. read more

I've shopped at Murphy's Paw since the original owners opened the store a decade ago but alas, the new owner has lost a long-time regular customer. I'd recently purchased two dog harnesses - 1 in the store, 1 on order - after I was assured by the clerk that I could return them if they didn't fit or work out. Unfortunately she neglected to mention that returns are for store credit ONLY otherwise I would NOT have purchased the harnesses. Today, what really irked me was the sales clerk calling the owner on the phone, then going around the corner in the back room whispering so I couldn't hear then returning to tell me the owner wants to talk to me after which I was told that I was trying to return a harness "with dog bites all over it". The only tag removed was the price tag and the harness was still in new condition having never been used. I literally had to argue with the clerk to get a refund for the 2nd harness - which I felt was entirely reasonable as we had we had cancelled the order the next business day, before they'd even had a chance to place the order. After returning home with the dog harness, I examined it for "dog bites" after which I figured out that if you leave the harness open and unfastened and toss it in the bag as I did, the large velcro loop fabric can snag the polyester fabric leaving little snags - not 'dog bites'. Nowadays you can buy everyone online, at big boxes, and some things at local stores so all things being equal, I will shop where I'm appreciated and treated respectfully. read more

Cute little store... Checked it out while waking down town. Got some adorable dog biscuits and some treats. Lady working the register was friendly. I would come back and walk around the store a little more & look at everything. read more

Murphy's Paw is awesome. I am a small business owner too, so I know the heart and soul Dean and Amadeus put in to every aspect of the store! I have a little Maltese, and have a really hard time finding him clothes that fit just right. The staff helped me pick out the fit I wanted, and a pattern I love for my little Milo. Its so fun to go in and see what they have gotten in for my fur babies - and nothing brings me more joy than to let my pups pick stuff out. Thanks for all the love! read more

this place has everything and more to equip your dog for everlasting bliss. I also like their happy hours, very social store with wine and snacks on fridays. read more

Great service! Really glad that this place carries my dog's food: Orijen. Orijen is not an easy food to find, and I am pleased there is a place so close to my job with it. The people were nice to my dog and there was great service here. Water bows are a plus! read more

Expensive...so be warned. On the other hand, if you really need a hand-embroidered flaming skull satin vest for your dog, this is about the only place I can think of to get one. There is a certain FAO Schwartz vibe to some of the items. For more serious purchasing however, they have a great selection of ultra-quality pet beds, pet foods and especially nice, pet grooming products. Its a good place to purchase gifts for the dogs and dog people in your life. If there is any flaw here, its the dog bias...as a cat person, I want to spend money on cats. read more

What a great little shop! My boyfriend and I were looking around the shop and restaurants on Main Street when we came upon this store. Walking in, I immediately noticed a giant Newfoundland laying on the floor! I guess it was one of the employee's dog. The store itself is really neat and they had a nice selection of leashes, collars, toys and treats. Also, the prices are really great compared to the bigger stores like Petco and Petsmart. They even have a ten pound cow bone I want to get for my Husky! When I have the free time I'm definitely going back! The owner was also really friendy and approachable! :D read more

Since I last reviewed this pet store, the ownership has changed, but my love for this place hasn't wavered one bit. I can't say enough great things about this place. Not only is the staff friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful...the items are unique and will leave you wishing you had enough money to buy up the whole store. Thanks to Murphy's Paw for helping keep my pup healthy and happy! :-) read more

Hubby and I decided to walk down Mainstreet the other day. We came upon Murphy's Paw and since we had recently adopted a puppy, we ventured in. The owner and other employee immediately greeted us and asked how they could help. We spent over a half hour there. They engaged in conversation the entire time and helped us in choosing various treats and goodies for our little guy. I absolutely can't wait to go back next month for their doggie socialization evening. read more

Great pet store. Super cute dog toys and accessories. A little pricey for dog food but they carry a great variety and have the best dog tags and collars around. Their bark and brews are a lot of fun. read more

New owner won't refund on returned items. Previous owner was so nice making it comfortable to buy items and if they don't fit properly you can bring back and try again. But this makes me lose confidence in this store. It's just petty and greedy to have this policy. Five years of loyalty but no more. read more

My husband wanted to stop here while we were strolling main st. The owner was so friendly and helpfull. He offered up some samples of a treart that might of helped my dogs horriblble breath. They worked so well that we went back and stocked up. read more

Very cute store with lots of options and adorable items for my 2 pomeranians. Staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and patient while I was like a kid in a candy store. I found some adorable doggles for my 3.5lb pom. Great selection of numerous items from apparel to treats. read more

This is a wonderful store. The owner is a caring, thoughtful man, who goes out of his way to provide excellent customer service, and in addition, you can visit the Newfie. Meanwhile the staff is friendly and helpful. When Murphy's Paw first opened, I had no idea of the wide variety of items Dean offered in his store. My friends find everything they need for their little dogs and their cats, and I find things I want for my 100 pound lap dog. Competitive pricing, great products. While browsing I find intriguing pet items, some of which I have never seen before, all the while finding the every-day staples I need for my dog. I always feel cheerful when I leave. One of the reasons is that the store is run like those old-fashioned businesses we think about, where people get to know you, so you always feel welcome. Great place. And, by the way, Murphey's Paw also carries cat food, and some of the varieties do not contain ingredients, such as fish oil, to which cats frequently have allergies. read more

Great service, I found exactly what I was looking for and will return. My dog and I have never been happier.

Murphy's Paw is the BEST store in pleasanton! Our dog Lucy loves Murphy's Paw sooo much. We love the owners and their great staff (especially Bailey.) They have great service and great treats for pups! read more

I orders a collar that they didn't have in my dogs size at the store. The collar was made wrong and broke within a week. They totally understood and sent it back to the company and gave me the option to either get a full refund or exchange. Very helpful, the collar was just a bad one out of the bunch. Everything there is good quality. Workers are very nice and helpful. read more

This place is THE best pet boutique in the entire valley. They are unbelievably friendly to dogs and their owners. The "yappy hour" is a great way to make sure your dog socializes and is not too bad for the owners as well. Melanie and Mike do a great job. read more

I went to Murphy's paw to look for a halloween costume for my little dog and ended up falling in love with this place! They have everything for dogs. My puppy was with me and she had a blast in the store!! I will be back and so will Brooklyn (my pup). =) read more

Love Love this store and the people that work there. Melanie is fantastic, I like that they can recommend groomers, dog walkers, different foods if you are running into diet problems with your dog. Interesting enough I thought a boutique dog store would be crazy expensive but lo and behold!!! their food is far less expensive than Pet Express, and the other larger chain stores!!! The other thing that I really like is if there is something specific you are looking for Melanie will order it for you and call when it comes in. AND to top it off they don't expect payment up front! A very well run business, great for socializing your animals with the Bark and Brew and the Wag and walk... or just to come in an say HI! water is always available and they have a bowl of treats for your pet! LOVE IT! read more

I love this store! The section of dog stuff is wonderful. The owners are great and I wouldnt be lying if I said I go in just to see the big bear of a dog that holds down the fort, Amedaus the Newfie. Main Street staple! A must stop when in downtown Pleasanton. With or without your pet. I highly recommend this store to the avid pet lover looking for that special gift for their pet to the regular trip to get your monthly bag of dog food. Make sure to stop here and ask for Dean the owner, he will take great care of you. read more

My dogs Patrick and Emily were routinely getting foxtails embedded into their ear canals. It was so frequent that I was visiting the vet's office every fourth day to have them removed. One of those darn things punctured Patrick's eardrum. My vet recommended the OutFox headwear to prevent further injury. So far they've worked well. If you live in the East Bay, you owe it to your dog to visit Murphy's Paw specialty pet shop in Pleasanton. Their staff was very helpful with determining proper sizing. I would recommend this type of protection to any dog parent and the store offers other wonderful specialty items. read more

I was visiting from out of town when I happened upon this very cool store filled with unique pet supplies. Customer service was fabulous. Dean the owner didn't have the exact size I needed in a harness so he ordered it and shipped it to my house. This harness didn't fit either so I sent it back. The postal service returned it back to the store in an empty package. Despite this, Dean went out of his way to research the specific harness for my dog, had it custom made and shipped it back to me without charge. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for unique selection, quality and customer service. Awesome Shop!! read more

Love the new owners! They have brought a new excitement to this already great pet store. I have also found their pricing is a good as any of the large box stores. Shopping small, shopping local is fun. read more

OK, I simply love this place. I have a beagle and he started out being a handfull. I discovered the place through a young lady who has done some outdoor signs for me (in my gardens) and I just love it. I buy all my dogfood and dog treats here as everything is natural. I don't have to worry about where it is made or the ingredients as I know they are all natural and safe products. Love walking in and seeing the many dogs who 'visit'. Murphy's paw is friendly and charming. And if you are into spoiling your dog, or you're looking for Giants, A's, Sharks, 49er or Raider jerseys for your dog, this is the place. Pet lovers beware as it is pretty darned fun! read more

I just got a new puppy and my daughter and I decided to come here a few Fridays ago to buy some new things for our new bundle of joy. I was very excited to see the store after having read the great reviews. News alert to the owner, if you are not going to be there on a Friday afternoon it may not be the best idea to let the store be run by two teenage girls. My daughter and I walked in, we were not acknowledged in any way. The two girls sat behind the counter and talked about their love lives for 15 minutes. They never asked us if we needed any help. We had every intention of buying many items, but we were so disgusted by the poor customer service, we left and decided to go to Molly's Pupuree in Danville and buy from her instead. Not good customer service at all. read more

My husband and I really wanted to like this place. My husband and I are very picky about what we feed our 2 cats. They only eat raw food. We were interested in trying the Small Batch Pets brand of raw food and saw that this store was one of the distributors. We stopped by on a Sunday, around lunch time. There were a few customers but it was not overly busy. No one greeted us when we walked in, which is normally fine with me. There was only 1 bag of small batch pets for cats left and it was turkey. Unfortunately, one of my cats is poultry intolerant so I wanted to ask if they had any more flavors available. As my husband and I stood in front of the freezer, one of the young ladies walked right past me, like literally within 1 foot of me. I had to say "excuse me" 4 times before I caught her attention. I know she wasn't purposely ignoring me but still, if you are at work and you have customers, you should be a little more attentive. I asked her if she had any more and her reply was "That is the only one we have left." There was no follow up of "We should be getting more soon," or "I can help you place an order for more," or "We have this other option,".....nothing, not friendly at all. It was a very awkward and weird moment. Finally I just said thank you and she walked away. We examined the freezer a bit more and we saw tubes of Small Batch Pets food in a tube that was labeled for dogs and cats. It would have been helpful if the young woman I spoke to pointed this out. But, no she didn't mention this at all. So my husband and I grab 1 tube of beef and 1 tube of rabbit. When we got to the counter, the cashier told us the rabbit one was a special order by another customer. There was no label on the packaging to identify it as a reserved item. Again, this would have been helpful to have been told beforehand. There were lots of really cute things in the store and they seem to carry very good quality items. Too bad the customer service is poor. read more

This store has been voted "Best Pet Store in Pleasanton" but that's a bit misleading. Its not a "pet store", in the sense that it doesn't actually carry useful things. If you need to get a bag of cat litter and some flea control, this isn't the place to go. But if you want to get a new dress for your yorkie, some poodle shaped earings, or a fancy designer collar, this could be it! read more
