I hadn't been to Pleasanton for a bit, but I had the opportunity thanks to my kid's soccer match in town. I grabbed a coffee and stopped by Murphy's Paw to get Bear a belated b-day cookie. The person working was personable and greeted me upon entry. When I got home, Bear was ready for his treat and based on his response he thought the cookie was delicious! read more

Murphy's Paw - Pet Stores Near Me - Pleasanton, California

I've seen Boutique shops come and go over the years here in downtown Pleasanton. However, Murphy's Paw has been able to survive for years now large in part to the popularity of dog friendliness in downtown Pleasanton. Every other shop has a water bowl for your fur babies. Murphy's Paw has a great selection of products ranging from leashes, harnesses, clothing, accessories, snacks and food. Have a question? The friendly staff greets you with a smile and says "let me know if you have any questions?" I love this little gem in downtown Pleasanton. read more

Super cute boutique pet store (mostly for dogs/cats) with a great variety of organic treats, dog/cat food (small-business brands too), accessories, toys, and more. I never noticed it before since it's tucked between 2 restaurants, but now I make it a point to stop by whenever I'm in Pleasanton. The shop owners are always super friendly and helpful. Prices run a bit $$, but worth it since it's for your pet - paying for quality products and unique finds. Plus, the store name couldn't be more fitting! read more

Our little Corgi, Koda (1.7 months old), has always been a picky eater and is fed only human-grade food to keep her healthy. Normally, she'll sniff her bowl and walk away before deciding to eat later -- but "A Pup Above" completely changed that! The moment I start preparing her "Beef Stew," she waits by my side, tail wagging, and dives right in the second I set the bowl down. It's the first time we've seen her genuinely excited for mealtime. Her coat looks beautiful, her energy is amazing, and we love knowing she's getting real, healthy ingredients. We always shop for Koda's food at our local pet store, Murphy's Paw in Pleasanton, California, where Cora is always there to offer guidance and support. She truly knows her stuff and takes the time to help us find the right products for Koda's needs -- we couldn't ask for a better experience! Huge thanks to A Pup Above for making mealtime fun again, and to Cora and the Murphy's Paw team for caring so much about our pups! read more

This cute store is our dog Simba's favorite place to visit on our walks downtown, for good reason. They are always so happy to see him, and he loves picking out his favorite treat or toy! They have a surprisingly diverse amount of items available. Treats, toys, and accessories can be expensive, but it's pretty expected of a local pet store like this, featuring a lot of small brands. Only complaint I have is that we paid a lot of money (I think $5--10) for a small frozen yogurt cup for our pup. There was no creaminess at all and it ended up all just being a giant chunk of ice -- unfortunately it was a waste of an already expensive treat. I think it had been in the freezer for way too long. read more

This pet store is a little gem in downtown Pleasanton. They have all kinds of goodies for dogs and cats. The employees are very nice and seem to enjoy working there. Their prices are very reasonable and sometimes even better than the big stores. The owner is a young lady, Pleasanton local, invested in the success of her business. I say let's support small businesses like this one and, and shop here. read more

What a sweet little shop; dedicated to fur babies. For the love of dogs, for the love love of cats... They sell dog/cat clothing, leashes, toys and treats. We stopped in to get a birthday cupcake and ice cream for my fur-baby, James's birthday. They have a treat bar that offers a variety of treats you can mix and match. What I love most about this store is that they curate only the best quality brands. Also, their treats have good , superior ingredients. They are very mindful about selecting only the best, most natural for our fur babies. I appreciate that... Customer service is friendly... I'll always support this local business that loves fur babies as much as I do... read more

Far better than Pet Food Express or any other big-box store. If something isn't in stock, they'll gladly place an order and make sure you get it on time--often with a discount. We always buy our dog's Small Batch frozen pet food here, and the service has been consistently excellent. read more

This is a really cute shop and filled with unique and interesting treats and goodies for your pup or kitty. However when I came in on a Saturday afternoon, the person working there was restocking and did not acknowledge me the whole time I was browsing, despite not having anyone else in the store. I was interested in purchasing some stuff but ended up leaving early because it was so awkward and I couldn't tell if they were in a bad mood. read more

This is a cute, small pet store for dogs and cats with food/snacks and accessories for sale. We happened to be in the area with our dog to have a meal at a nearby restaurant, and I saw it. We went inside because my dog Zoey loves to shop. I ended up buying a bag of soft doggie snacks, and I took a treat from the jar at the register. So, Zoey got left happy. read more

When we rescued a dog in January, some thoughtful friends gave us a generous bag of goodies from Murphy's Paw. I knew this store existed, but I never had a reason to go in until now. It's a small pet boutique, perfect for popping in while shopping in downtown Ptown. Some items are a little pricey, but most treats are reasonable. The pricier gear and accessories are high quality and unique in comparison to the selection at your standard pet store chain. We were so pleased that they had great customer service AND water for our thirsty rhinoceros-dog. I also want to add, that the fleece vest we were gifted from here, is so easy to put on, it Velcros around his cement brick staffy bod! It kept him warm all winter, and held up in the washer. He seems to enjoy wearing it, maybe it feels like a swaddle wrap? This is one we'll purchase again for sure. We won't hesitate to stop back in very soon for thoughtful gifts, tasty treats, and needed wardrobe additions. The air fresheners are very effective to battle tough pet orders in the home or car. I got the Holiday scent and it was a warm, spicy, and lovely fragrance. Ps sorry to talk sh%t, BUTT (haha) their green earth friendly dog poop bags, are definitely better than the others we've tried. You don't want cheap or flimsy when dealing with pick up patrol. read more

Cute little pet store in downtown Pleasanton full of adorable toys and yummy (through the eyes and nose of my dog) treats. Saw some really pretty raincoats and vests but wished they had the more sizes (M) as many of the available sizes left were either for small or large dogs. I picked up a stuffed gnome doll and I'm so in love - obviously it's for me more so than my dog son. Reasonable prices and friendly service - love it. read more

Great selection, gift ideas and practical needs. Their website mentions feline supplies too...I did not see much at all for my kitties, but my dog was covered. One other note, downtown Pleasanton was shutdown when we dropped by at 4 pm. I asked the clerk what was going on, she didn't know. I felt she should have known and be able to tell us how to appreciate the area more as we aren't from Pleasanton. read more

Beautiful pet boutique!!! Specialty items; the owners have fantastic taste in picking top notch with great prices.

What's not to love? Kimchi enjoyed exploring, Dean and Jay were the dream team and they had lots of treats, toys, leashes, harnesses, bowls and of course the Bark Potty I came for. The selection was great and the prices are competitively priced. Dean was kind enough to help us find a no pull harness for Kimchi and fitted him for us. He was very patient with our wiggle worm. Dean genuinely loves his customers and store. It was very apparent that he takes pride in his shop and employees, he proudly shared that all of the baked goods are created by one of his employees. One of the things that I found refreshing was super simple but no one has ever offered to close his shop doors so Kimchi didn't run out while he was off leash. We can't wait to come back next month for a new potty and new toys and treats. read more

Every since i got my fourlegged child (which was 4yrs ago) i always come here every month of May to get his "birthday" cake and let him pick a toy as well for his gift. Lol! They have tons of selection of different products for your pet. This store is neat and located in downtown Pleasanton. I meet the owner ones, their so friendly and very accommodating. Once in a while you would see their big black dog i think its a Newfoundland. I thought at first it was a stuff toy and then it moved. Lol! And of coarse it scare the bejesus of my little shih tzu and he starts barking like cray. read more

What a clever name, Murphy's Paw. Whoever came up with it should give themselves a gold star because it stands out and it's easy to remember. I like saying it too...Murphy's Paw...you know, like Murphy's Law except it's Paw. I strolled through on a Saturday visit with mom and pup in tow; I'm not sure who was more excited, Rufus, mom or me! Rufus was sniffling up all the delicious scents wafting up his nose from gourmet treats, mom was going crazy over the adorable toys and I was going nuts over their healthy pup food! We ended up leaving with a huge, heavy duty rope for tug-o-war, a huge squeaky crab (redonkulous - see pic) and some delicious healthy snacks. Rufus is one spoiled dog. read more

This is a neat little pet boutique on Main Street and I knew Gayle would not be able to resist stopping in as we walked by. Besides having a clever name, Murphy's Paw is a cute space, with lots of nicely displayed cat and dog stuff. That includes food and other treats in the back. Some of it was a bit "much" like the small dog version of Baby Bjorn. What's next, a Inglesina Stroller for Gayle's yappy chihuahua mix?. At the same time, what really impressed me was the practically and value pricing of their goods, and the kind staff in the store making the sale. We ended up purchasing some biodegradable "nuisance" bags and a minimum down payment for future visits. read more

Really chic. If I was in the mood to buy my already spoiled pup something after a fancy lunch, I would have. Some standouts of the store include their cat marijuana, local teamwear and pet strollers. As if parading your dog along Main St. wasn't enough, yes, they have pet strollers. "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong" so before any meltdowns, barky tantrums or summer dress humpings--meet those urges with a chewable or refrigerated cupcake for your bud. That, or give them a whirl in one of those strollers and see how they like it. Woof, dey'tiis. read more

This shop is a dog lovers dream!! It has the cutest selection of clothes & toys, as well as great food & treats! I came in here about a month ago in need of an emergency 49ers jersey for my new dog (he was begging for it). I called ahead of time to make sure they had some in stock and the attendant was very nice! It was about 5 minutes to closing-and I arrived right when they should have locked the doors. The clerk was very nice and willing to accommodate and even showed me around the store, as it was my first time in the shop. We had a good conversation and I will definitely be back here!! Needless to say my dog was pumped about his new jersey, and couldn't take it off until they lost :( read more

Didn't really know what I wanted to buy but wanted to get something. Walked in and few people around. A hello would have been nice. There was a girl standing there staring at me but she didn't say anything. Decided on some cat treats but again when I went to pay, there was no hello or greeting. The cashier took my item to be purchased and rang me up. I paid and there was no thank you from the cashier. Irritated by the lack of simple communication in a retail store. Say something to make customers feel welcomed and want to buy! And a thank you would be nice after a purchase! In fact I said thank you to the cashier for handing me my change! Hmpf! read more

This is my sisters favorite little pet boutique store. I can see why. They have a ton of selection of varied treats for dogs and cats. They carry good foods to. To bad my dog is on a prescription dog food because this would be a good place to get some. I also noticed that they cater to cats. I never usually pay attention to that but their cat stuff was plentiful. The bad thing for boutique stores like this is, my mom and I are pretty crafty. There were these soft felt blankets that my dog would turn puppy over again. They were over the $15.00 mark. I know full well I can go to the fabric store and buy the same fabric and hand sew the same blanket for my dog for at least $6. I really like the crocheted sweaters though. They had a black one with a scull and cross bones on it. If it had come in my wiener dogs size she would be sporting it right now. I definitely cant crochet. This is a fun store. No wonder my sister likes it. Shes a very dog store type person. read more

I really enjoy perusing through locally owned pet stores and specifically finding toys for Beckett that he enjoys. He really likes toys with appendages (and that was before he lost one of his own) and we are always on the lookout for some new toy he can play with. They had some freakishly cute pet Halloween costumes but at too high of a price for my taste and aside from some of those lets make our dog look like a baby type of fare, this store had a special quality to it. Maybe it was the customer service and maybe it was because I was with fellow dog lovers, but this too is another store I would come back to. read more

I love love this new Pet Store in the downtown Pleasanton area. Opened only for 2 months. This place is the most adorable pet store in the area....five starts for carrying tasteful plaid leash and collar!!! Please extend the selection!!!! I have a plaid obsession! Melanie the owner was so helpful and gave me a sample of Happytails shampoo (Canine Spa Line located in So. Ca) since they didn't have the whitening powder I was looking for for my Westie. She even went as far as to call Happytails to ask if they carried something similar!!!! What great customer service. I also saw the most chic euro type doggie bed there....around $5 bills!!!! Check it out, you'll have so much fun in this store! read more

i love places that pamper your pup but i have to take away 2 stars for going a little overboard with the doggie clothing. please people there is no need to dress up your pets in cute clothing. let them have some dignity for pete's sake. they have many great things for your dog like treats, beds and doggie events but then it gets a little crazy. do you really need to buy your dog jewelry or take them around with you in a carrier or give them a spa treatment?! i actually miss the good old days of snausages and a bath in the bath tub. seems people are getting a little too crazy when it comes to humiliating fido! read more

One cavet to the 5 star review, the items are high-end which does translate to pricey. That said, I'm told they are bring in a selection of less expensive, yet still stylish items. So we moved to downtown Pleasanton last year. We moved here with our beloved Weimreiner, Chloe. We used to walk her downtown and would stroll in for a free treat (she loved treats!) whenever we could. I wouldn't say we were fans quite yet. So Chloe is no longer with us, but we spent some time and finally decided on a new member of the family. We are getting a Bergamasco. These dogs have dreadlocks - really. Check out http://bergamascos.net for some great pictures of these rastafarian Italian sheepdogs. We are calling ours Burgie (short for Burgermonster, which sounds like Bergamasco). Anyway, we have been getting excited and looking for dog things again. So we went in there to pick out a new bed, buy a collar and matching leash, and pick up some dog bowls and random toys. The owner (Melanie, I think she said her name was) was fantastic in helping us. She was extremely friendly, very helpful when making recommendations, and took time to talk with us about our purchases, even when there were people in the store (her other clerk helped them out). And then she mentioned they have a Yappy Hour, where people bring their dogs in and everyone sits around and drinks wine. This kind of friendly service is exactly why we like to shop local. To top it all off, she is active in the downtown community. We say that you should shop local and support these types of businesses, those that bring more than just a few products to the area. read more

I had always loved this place, but today's experience was very off-putting. I came in around 11a and was browsing with the hubby. It looked like two people were working, a woman and a man in a red shirt. Neither of them greeted or acknowledged our existence, until Hubs and I starting making our way to check out the food in the back of the store. It was them I noticed the man in the red shirt just staring at us, not a word was said, just a hard stare. Very very creepy. He then proceeded to follow us around the back as Hubs and I were looking at a bag of food. Being totally weirded out we made our way back to the front of the store and left. The man made us super uneasy and our shopping experience was ruined. Not sure what his deal was, but damn was it weird :/ I will not be back after that. read more
