The Cookie Cabin has been around forever, and we stopped in more out of nostalgia than actual hunger. It was packed, but the giant patio means social distancing is easy. It was late in the day on a Saturday, so they were out of a few things like the sampler cookie. No biggie, my spouse ordered a brownie cookie and a full slice of pepperoni pizza. It was..ok. Definitely not the deep dish pizza he remembered from childhood, but still tasty. The cookie was same - nice but not the magic of years past. Would I drive all the way up Mt. Lemmon again for their cookies? No. However, it was a fun little treat after a long (albeit scenic) drive. Do I wish I could get their pizza again? Absolutely! The pizza far outshines the cookies and they really need to change the name to Pizza Cabin. We order the 16" and it was 8 slices, just enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. Prices were high...one pizza, one sampler cookie, and two sodas was $60 (with a tip)! The staff were very nice and we are glad we stopped. Probably a one and done for us though. read more

Prices are high- again because you're on top of a mountain in a rural tourist area. $30 for a 16 inch I could see stopping in again if in similar situation just looking for something small on the mountain. If you say you're going up to Mt Lemmon most Tucsonans will tell you that you have to go to the Cookie Cabin. It's a tradition and a fun touristy thing to do. A lot of road bike cyclists biking up Mt Lemmon stop here to refuel before they speed down the mountain at a frightening pace. It's hard to go wrong with a warm cookie and the cookies are large. Friends I went with got the pumpkin spice and chocolate chip with mountains of ice cream and toppings on top ($9). I got a half slice of pepperoni pizza ($4). This is a favorite 'destination' of mine when I need an excuse to take my motorcycle down to Tucson so I can ride it up the mountain. The pizza slices are big and sometimes they can be perfectly done, but sometimes they could stay in the oven a bit longer. I think it depends on how busy they are. The woman who runs the place with the help of her kids is a riot to talk to, and they are all very nice. They have plenty of benches to sit at outside which is good as while they are now open they have the inside of the store closed for seating as well as the restrooms, so plan accordingly. They are doing their bit to practice social distancing which is nice. Overall this makes for a pleasant way to spend the day by heading up there for a bite to eat in the cooler temps. I was recommended to this spot by a friend for my first trip to Mt Lemmon. I am very glad I stopped after a nice hike. They had a small menu with pizza, hot dogs, salad and chili but we mainly heard about and came for the cookies. They have a variety of flavors to choose from and you can order a half or full cookie (plate sized as pictured). They were all made fresh so we had a short wait until they were done. I decided to get the combo that has all the flavors blended into one cookie. It was slightly overcooked as it got hard by the time I ate my pizza and was ready for the cookie, but it was still very yummy. I was thinking I should have waited to order the cookie after I was done with lunch, however we had arrived just in time before the line was out the door. They told us it often gets so busy the line is too the street! I also appreciated the outdoor seating as it was a beautiful day. There is plenty of shaded areas from the trees. My friends and I sat at a big round table under a gazebo. It was very cute. We didn't have a dog but there were many sitting outside the restaurant. We stopped here for lunch today, it's dog friendly and the other restaurant in Summerhaven isn't. We sat outside on a beautiful fall day. Here's the down low on the food: Chicken BBQ sandwich: pulled chicken in a mild BBQ sauce on a 6 inch hogue bun. Served with kettle chips. As I ate the sandwich the chicken and sauce dropped out of the bun onto my plate. This is good sign but even given that it's though to say it was good. Chili dog: very mild thick chili on a hot dog , served on a 6 inch hogie bun. Also served with kettle chips. It was not interesting. Slice Pepperoni pizza: this looked like 1/4 of a frozen pizza, greasy and rather plain. It was barely ok. Here's the issue - Prices are way too high at this restaurant for what you get. I understand that we are off the beaten path but this is beyond that. We discussed this afterwards and we decided that next time we will pack a picnic lunch. We absolutely loved the cookies here. I wish it wasn't such a long drive away, or I'd be getting their cookies all the time. I loved that the cookies weren't overly sweet and sugary. We ordered a chocolate chip cookie, and a Rachel cookie. Definitely some of the best cookies I've ever had. And they weren't so overly oily the way some cookies you buy from bakeries can be. We love going to Mount Lemmon and visiting Summerhaven on our way to the top. We walk down to cookie cabin to get a sweet treat. We always get the chocolate chip cookie with scoop. Oh and btw! This is the standard size of the cookie. They're huge!! 4 stars because the cookie, ice cream, and food are all really basic and not really anything great (think frozen and packaged). Although the cabin has that comfort of home feel, the food doesn't give me that homemade vibe. And yet, we keep coming back for that fresh baked cookie at the top of the mountain. Enjoy! read more

Last time I ate there was over 10 years ago. It has since been destroyed by fire and rebuilt. Made the almost 2 hour drive to get there. In the past their pizza was outstanding. Now, barely edible. At $35 dollars a pie, you get pre-made and pre=packaged pizza doe. Only one choice of toppings, pepperoni. Staff were young but friendly. Pizza was quite bad and totally disappointing. The huge cookies were warm and fresh. The line was pretty long back in January. It took abot 35-40 minutes to order. We had just spent a full day of playing in the snow on the mountain, so this was a great way to end the day. They might not be the best cookies ever, but they are delicious when you're cold and tired. Ithink they have restrooms located at the back, but they have restrooms upstairs indoors. THE RACHEL COOKIE IS SOOOOOO GOOD!! We have gone here a few times and the Rachel cookie always delivers. Last time we were there, we overheard that the pizza was good, so we'll try that next time. Always a line of ~3-5 people, but it moves very quickly and it also seems to be a great place for bicyclists to meet up - they're usually always there. Last Thursday, after being advised about her peanut allergy my daughter was still given a cookie that had been contaminated. She started to go into anaphylactic shock 1/2 down the mountain. She administered her EpiPen and then had to search for cell phone service to call 911. Her car had to be left and she was taken in an ambulance to the hospital. I called the Cookie cabin and left a message about training staff properly because this was a life and death situation and have yet to receive a call back. The rest of the night was crazy as my husband and I had to race from Casa Grande to get her car keys from her in the emergency room and then to go up the mountain before the road closed that night and get her car and then wait with her at the ER. read more

She demanded a tip by slapping down a receipt and telling me "please put a tip on this line"... most of us know how to tip thanks. I had the macadamia nut cookie, which was very underwhelming and dry because it was sitting in an oven (already pre-made). My friend had the meat calzone, which had very little meat and a lot of cheese. It was a very disappointing experience. If Im going to pay a premium price for a $7 cookie and a $8 calzone I'd better expect something fresh or of better quality. Furthermore, while waiting in the horrendously long line I saw an employee in the kitchen touching their phone to text or change music (because the individual was listening to music on the job). As it was there were 4 of us and we spilt the combo cookie (about 7 cookies all made and baked together in a flower shape. None of them blew me away, but I can see the appeal.
