    Selection is FANTASTIC!!
    Cher C.

Service was outstanding! I'm so sorry I didn't get her name, but wow, what a job she did explaining allot of selections as I wasn't familiar w/the Mexican version. One being Canoli's. Your Doughnuts are to die for!! Prices are some of the best I've seen, ever! We'll be back! Thank You very much!!

During my childhood this building was known as El Rio bakery. When the family decided to close it, many worried it would be a empty building. I think it was terrific that La Estrella decided to move in for another location. I am unsure how many years they have been here but it is always special to walk into a bakery that has its own space. They had lots to offer; tortillas of course, fresh bread, and lots of Mexican bakery delights! Today I felt like empanadas instead of pan de huevo, which many now call conchas. Cochitos (pig shaped molasses cookies) are our favorite. But you never can go wrong with their glazed donuts. So many delights to explore but today was a great day to visit Estrella bakery after walking and visiting with vendors at the Tucson organic garden plant sale today.

One of the best bakeries I've visited offers conchas that are incredibly soft and spongy, almost like marshmallow heaven in your mouth. The service is both fast and friendly. Although the demand is high and the line often stretches around the corner, the staff does their best to serve customers quickly. The atmosphere is very comfortable, creating a sense of safety and being aesthetically pleasing.

This is Estrella's third store jn town. My Neighbor shop was previously at the mercado San Agustin, but I prefer this one now because it's away from the crowded MSA and there more room to walk inside and view the pastries. This shop actually is now the bakery that supplies the items for the MSA store. The kitchen looks really big! You can expect all of the same baked goods at all the locations. My favorite is the hebilla (belt buckle shaped bread). I also love the cuernos and their Mexican wedding cookies. If you need a large order they are supper accommodating. You just need to give them 24 Hours notices. They also make mini sizes upon request!

Food: their pastries are very good. Crunchy and fluffy at the same time and very tasty. The prices are also great. Service: very friendly Ambiance: cute local bakery store

La Estella... what do I say about you orher than you are my kind of bakery - cozy, homey, delish and just you!!

Disliked it so much I went elsewhere for the good stuff.

I've come back twice since my first review and both times got their cochito. Although not "traditional" it's pretty good. It's a basic and cheap $1 cochito that has been the exact same on two separate visits, which is to say the inconsistency issue I noted before appears to be addressed with a standardized cochito recipe. Good. Also both times I came in there was one person at the counter, not many, and the exchange was subtle and quick. Which again is a good improvement. Good job. I will be back at a later time to assess the jelly rolls, conchas, etc.

Great bakery! I'm normally not a huge fan of maranitos, but these were SO soft and the flavor was incredible. My family enjoyed everything we purchased. You can tell this team is really committed to fresh baked goods.

Classic Tucson. Delicious Mexican pastries. The location in Grande is definitely superior to the Barrio location.

You really wouldn't see this place driving down Wilmot because it's tucked behind two businesses, with 4 fifteen minutes parking spots designated for the shop. It's a small little pie shop and all pies are six inch mini pies for $7.99. Many are topped with pipped whipped cream unless you order a double crust fruit pie or quiche. I think I've sampled every pie. The size is perfect to split with someone. No drinks or other things are available here, but one can purchase drinks down the way at Beyond Bread. The staff are always getting customers rung up and out quick. Because the space is so small you go in the entrance, order your pies and then go out an exit door. There's no room for meandering or window shopping. You just wait your turn to look and order right away and I rung up the whole space is quite small nonetheless it's fun to go there and get a little treat now and again. And today was one of those days. My mom and I parked while my sister was checking out Bookmans. We picked out a pie to share, went to the patio to eat it, and it was good.

There are many flavor options and even a couple of non-dairy choices. The service is a bit hit-or-miss, and really just depends on the staff there at the time as well as the specific location. Beyond the regular cones and cups they also have some options such as the flight, nachos, and the banana split. They also specific which flavors have gluten. They used to advertise that their dairy came from grass-fed cows, but that stopped a few years ago so I'm guessing that is no longer the case. While that's what caught my attention and actually got me in the door, I've stayed a customer because they do mention that their dairy comes from cows that have not been given antibiotics or hormones. So for those who pay attention to such things, take note!
