Came for the beignets and it was well worth stopping for dessert separately! Quick service

I can only rate the beignets (because that's all we ordered), but they sure hit the spot. Nothing like walking around beautiful Avalon with powdered sugar in your face.

Fresh Beignets!!! Shop opens at 7 with takeaway breakfast items. Delightful with a cup of coffee by the sea.

The only Asian food place in Avalon and it's just Chinese takeout food. It's greasy and salty but the varieties are not bad. It's weird that they don't always have hot and sour soup. It's a must have soup for any Asian eateries but not here! Kung pao & orange chicken are safe choices in my opinion. Not the best Chinese takeout but it will have to do in Avalon!

We hear of Chinese food & donuts but how about Chinese food & beignets! Mr.T's Chinese Kitchen offers Chinese food Panda express style with all the entrees laid out. You can get fried rice or chow mein on the side with either 1 or 2 entree combo plate. Mr. T's also sells breakfast sandwiches, beignets, juices and ice cream. I arrived on Catalina Island hoping for some breakfast but the pancake houses were packed with a line out the door. I went down a small block and found Mr.T's with no line. I went in to get a two entree plate of spicy shrimp and kung pao chicken. While on a bumpy golf cart ride, I was munching on Mr.T's while enjoying the beautiful island scenery! Wow the shrimp was SPICY hot burned my throat and made me cough. Kung Pao was a little spice and bearable. I was thinking how funny it was that the girl who prepped my food asked if I wanted hot sauce. Im glad I said NO. Taste was pretty bland but a whole lotta spice. I would love to see more Asian food on Catalina. OK quick bite for lunch.

Not so sure about their food as we didn't have any as we mainly came here for their beignets. Saw from a fellow foodie how good their beignets were and had to check them out since we were there for the day as it was one of the stops on our cruise. For a little over $6, you get 3 beignets. They are a lot smaller and cost more than ones I've had from New Orleans or at the Disney but they're pretty tasty and made fresh once ordered. A nice little place to get a taste of the sweet treat of beignets. It's a small mom-and-pop kinda shop and doesn't have seating on the inside but there are a few tables out front to have lunch or a treat.

I saw a Yelp review that this place served really good Beignets and I was craving something sweet. This little Chinese food place is tucked away next to Original Jack's Pancakes. The beignets seemed to be fresh and made to order. I waited about 5 minutes and they were warm with a perfect amount of sugar topping. It comes in a box of 3 for $5 but I couldn't wait so the picture only shows 2. I loved it! I would definitely come back here and make sure I check in next time!

I just tried the Beignets. Were excellent, like the ones in New Orleans! They fry them by order, and I'm glad for that. Really really good

The cream is super smooth and filled with actual durian pulp--no artificial flavor at all. The sponge is so light and fluffy that it almost melts in your mouth, and it pairs perfectly with the rich, fruity durian cream. I already love fresh durian and durian ice cream, but this was my first time trying a durian cake, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The 6-inch cake was $68, so it's definitely a treat, but I'd happily buy it again. Just make sure to order a few days ahead. The service was amazing too. Since it was our anniversary, they added a cute "Happy Anniversary" sign to the cake at no extra charge. When we picked it up, they even reminded us to head straight home because the summer heat could affect the cake. You can tell they genuinely care about the quality of their cakes and want customers to enjoy them at their best. Definitely coming back to try more flavors!

We also ordered a simple ham and cheese omelette, served with a side of their sliced baguette -- again assuming was fresh baked, because it was delicious. Simple dish, done right, which honestly says a lot about a kitchen. But the danishes stole the show. We grabbed a few to try, and the blueberry one was outstanding -- like, stopped-mid-conversation-to-comment-on-it good. Not overly sweet, good fruit-to-pastry ratio, perfect texture. Ariana helped us and was an absolute sweetheart -- even let us sample a pastry we were debating on before we committed. That kind of thing goes a long way, especially when you're trying to decide between six things that all look amazing in the case. Atmosphere was great too, comfortable spot to sit and eat instead of just grab-and-go. Will definitely be back to work through the rest of the pastry case. 10/10. It has become one of those places that we make a point to visit every time we're in the area because the food, variety, and overall experience are always worth it. Most of the time, you can expect a long line, but honestly, when a bakery consistently has that many people waiting, you know they must be doing something right. The good thing is that Porto's has a great system in place to handle the crowds. Even when the line looks intimidating, it moves pretty quickly and efficiently, so the wait never feels as bad as you might expect. Everything is organized, and it is definitely worth waiting in line for. This particular location is also a great stop if you are spending the day at Knott's Berry Farm. It is an easy place to add to your plans, especially if you want to grab something to take home or enjoy after a day at the park. There are so many things to choose from, but I have a few favorites that I always find myself ordering. The famous cheese rolls are a must, and the guava strudels are another favorite. The mango mousse cake is light, flavorful, and always a great choice, while the fruit tart is another one I would highly recommend. I also really enjoy the Ube Matcha and, of course, the potato balls. There is such a great variety that it is hard to leave without getting more than you originally planned. One of the best things about Porto's is that there really is something for everyone, whether you are looking for pastries, desserts, cakes, or something savory. The quality is consistently good, and despite how busy they are, the experience is well worth it. If you are visiting Southern California and have never been to Porto's, definitely add it to your list. And if you have been before, you already know why the lines are always so long. It is absolutely a must-try spot and one of my favorite places to stop whenever I am in the area.
