I can only rate the beignets (because that's all we ordered), but they sure hit the spot. Nothing like walking around beautiful Avalon with powdered sugar in your face.

Fresh Beignets!!! Shop opens at 7 with takeaway breakfast items. Delightful with a cup of coffee by the sea.

The only Asian food place in Avalon and it's just Chinese takeout food. It's greasy and salty but the varieties are not bad. It's weird that they don't always have hot and sour soup. It's a must have soup for any Asian eateries but not here! Kung pao & orange chicken are safe choices in my opinion. Not the best Chinese takeout but it will have to do in Avalon!

Fried rice with kung pao chicken and shrimp.

We hear of Chinese food & donuts but how about Chinese food & beignets! Mr.T's Chinese Kitchen offers Chinese food Panda express style with all the entrees laid out. You can get fried rice or chow mein on the side with either 1 or 2 entree combo plate. Mr. T's also sells breakfast sandwiches, beignets, juices and ice cream. I arrived on Catalina Island hoping for some breakfast but the pancake houses were packed with a line out the door. I went down a small block and found Mr.T's with no line. I went in to get a two entree plate of spicy shrimp and kung pao chicken. While on a bumpy golf cart ride, I was munching on Mr.T's while enjoying the beautiful island scenery! Wow the shrimp was SPICY hot burned my throat and made me cough. Kung Pao was a little spice and bearable. I was thinking how funny it was that the girl who prepped my food asked if I wanted hot sauce. Im glad I said NO. Taste was pretty bland but a whole lotta spice. I would love to see more Asian food on Catalina. OK quick bite for lunch.

Great place to get quick , comfort food. I got a bowl with chow mein and orange chicken. Nice.

Beignets

Not so sure about their food as we didn't have any as we mainly came here for their beignets. Saw from a fellow foodie how good their beignets were and had to check them out since we were there for the day as it was one of the stops on our cruise. For a little over $6, you get 3 beignets. They are a lot smaller and cost more than ones I've had from New Orleans or at the Disney but they're pretty tasty and made fresh once ordered. A nice little place to get a taste of the sweet treat of beignets. It's a small mom-and-pop kinda shop and doesn't have seating on the inside but there are a few tables out front to have lunch or a treat.

Beignets (3 for $5)

I saw a Yelp review that this place served really good Beignets and I was craving something sweet. This little Chinese food place is tucked away next to Original Jack's Pancakes. The beignets seemed to be fresh and made to order. I waited about 5 minutes and they were warm with a perfect amount of sugar topping. It comes in a box of 3 for $5 but I couldn't wait so the picture only shows 2. I loved it! I would definitely come back here and make sure I check in next time!

This place has incredible baked goods, specifically the breakfast croissant sandwich and beignets!

I just tried the Beignets. Were excellent, like the ones in New Orleans! They fry them by order, and I'm glad for that. Really really good

I consider myself a bit of a "Sourdough Snob" and I had heard about Colossus a while back but didn't know that there was one (or are there 2?) in San Pedro. I went on a sourdough quest in San Francisco a few months back and I think I found the absolute best sourdough in that city. And Colossus's version, the Country Levain, is right up there! Great crust and chew and flavor is awesome. We got a medium Country Levain and a medium Levain with Cumin and Olives....that cumin and olives....wow, so freaking good and unique. Loaves were about $10-$14 and service was great and super friendly. We didn't try anything else but the sweet treats and coffees looked good. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Country Loaf is their basic bread, very moist, great for anything, even eating it plain. Good bread, great bakes - you can tell they're made by a pastry chef because they're so polished and refined. Great bakes, please try!

We couldn't resist taking home a dozen of our favorite. The service was friendly, the shop was super cute, and the donuts were absolutely delicious. Just a typical donut store with glass shelves to see the donuts. Not the most friendly staff. No line behind us or in front of us but we felt like we were being rushed to hurry up and decide what to order. We purchased 6 donuts some of which were chocolate. We also bought one ham and cheese jalapeño croissant. He warmed it up and put it in the same plastic bag with our chocolate donuts!! Who does this?!? Apparently the shop worker did. Needless to say our chocolate donuts were ruined and I had some upset kids! Taste of everything was ruined due to the experience. I will not be returning.

This appears to be one of Porto's newer locations, with a huge parking lot in the back and plenty of indoor seating. We arrived early, so the line was short, but judging by the number of people coming in, I can see why it gets busy later in the day. The staff was fantastic--friendly, efficient, and always smiling despite how busy they were. The food was outstanding. I had the seasonal Apple Pomegranate Salad, which was fresh, crisp, and full of flavor. My daughter ordered the black bean soup and absolutely loved it. My wife and son went all in on the pastries and couldn't stop talking about how delicious everything was. The Jalapeño Cheese Potato Ball was perfectly crispy and flavorful, the fresh plantain chips were addictive, and the Mango Mousse Cake was light, refreshing, and beautifully made. Every pastry we tried was fresh, high quality, and looked as amazing as it tasted. The drinks were also excellent. One thing that really stood out was watching so many customers leave with large boxes of Porto's famous cheese rolls and guava strudels to take home for family and friends--that says a lot about how loved this bakery is. As a vegetarian, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of options available. I had no trouble finding delicious food and desserts. If you're a meat lover, you'll have even more choices and probably be in heaven! Porto's offers incredible quality at very reasonable prices, making it an easy recommendation for anyone visiting Disneyland or the Buena Park area. We'll definitely make this a tradition on future Disneyland trips. I can't wait to come back!
