Chilaquiles | Flavorful, saucy and a bit spicy, just how I like it and quite the hearty breakfast! It's my favorite item on the menu and I've ordered it many times! Scrambled eggs are tasty, rice is incredibly flavorful and the fresh sliced avocado along side makes it a perfectly mouth watering dish! Orange Juice | Fresh squeezed, and refreshing! Breakfast Burrito | Delicious, hearty & full of flavor! You want to order this when you're super hungry or get half of the burrito to go! Bloody Mary | I highly recommend! Tasty, refreshing, and can be perfect with breakfast! Customer Service | Wildly friendly & attentive! Popular | Popular! There is usually a long line for breakfast! Simply go inside, asked to put your name on the list and enjoy waiting inside or outside and enjoy the view of the beach/scenery! Inside | It's quite the spacious restaurant! There is also a bit of seating in front on the outside patio! I've introduced plenty of friends to this restaurant, and we've sat both inside and outside, enjoyed both! Overall | Yes, Please! The Pancake Cottage is definitely worth the wait! The food is excellent, customer service is awesome!
Food: I ordered the Country Squire Combo, which comes with eggs, sausage/bacon, hash and pancakes. The sausage was nicely flavored and cooked. The hash was OK--would have liked more of a crisp to it and seasoning. And the pancakes... the texture threw me off a bit. It was kind of bread-y and not as fluffy as you'd expect. My partner ordered the Chorizo Sizzler, which, as the name suggests, came out of the kitchen smoking on a sizzling plate. As the heart of the dish, the chorizo actually had a nice flavor to it--it was just drowned in a sea of thickly cut potato wedges. Service: No complaints. Ambiance: While there was a sprinkle of decor throughout, I couldn't tell what the vibe was from this place--rustic? However, it felt lively at breakfast--all tables were filled, both inside and out.
If you're a tourist, definitely come here for breakfast! Very nice restaurant. We got sat down immediately after checking with the hostess. A lot of tables. Gets very packed within the first hour of opening. The food came out really fast for being busy. It was delicious! We got the French Toast Combo and Denver Omelette. Our server was nice and service was pretty good. Keep in mind, the restaurant does not serve tap water, only bottled. The cups are also smaller compared to the taller glasses, so ration!
This place was the first stop on the Catalina trip! The wait was long but as expected. The egg, sausage, pancake, and waffles were all solid and what you expect a classic American breakfast to be! I think would be even better if the eggs were more seasoned tho! The service and atmosphere were also pretty good just wish there was more AC.
We came to Catalina Island for the day, and Pancake Cottage was our first stop for breakfast. There was a long line when we arrived, but the wait was only about 30-40 minutes and moved surprisingly fast. Our server was very friendly and took the time to explain the menu before we ordered. The chilaquiles were authentic and delicious, especially paired with the fresh side of beans. The pancakes were fluffy, buttery, and cooked perfectly. The restaurant was clean, the staff was welcoming, and we enjoyed a nice view of the island while dining. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend stopping by for breakfast. The only downside was the waiting area. There was quite a bit of luggage from other guests, so you need to watch your step to avoid tripping over straps or bags. Other than that, it was a great visit and a place worth checking out when you're in Catalina.
Make sure to arrive early because I believe there is always a wait here. We put our names down for a table around 11a and our table was ready a little before 12p! Service was very direct, we came on a holiday (Valentine's day) so it's understandable Chilaquiles came with beans, rice, and avocado. Great portion. Nothing much to say about it because it was just alright. It wasn't spicy or outstanding. Chicken fried steak was same; there are better out there. It came with a side of hashbrowns which were a little hard, not soft and crispy as one would expect. Everything was just alright. Nice coastal view here. Overpriced but it is an island so keep that in mind - it is a couple dollars for bottled water
Amazing Bloody Mary and pancakes! Perfect place to stop before or after the ferry as it's just steps away. They also have bar seating which is great when there's a long wait! The chilaquiles are also super tasty.
Seemed good - packed for sure. Bustling with a brunch crowd. A lot of good things on the menu, so took me a while to decide. Opted for breakfast since they were a breakfast place. Took a while. Then bf's eggs were cold, told the guy and before you could say quick like a catalina fox, he had another plate of hot eggs on the table. I had a tiny bit of shell in my eggs, but at least they were warm. Everything was ok. Not great, but it's a good location, and we enjoyed our time and food.
Came here on a sunday and it was pretty busy but luckily the restaurant had 2 sides so the wait went by faster than the quoted time. I ordered the california bennie and it was okay. There wasn't anything special about it, the hollandaise sauce didn't stick out to me and required hot sauce to aid the flavors. Unfortunately they were having issues with their fryer and couldn't make some items on their menu such as the fried chicken. But I also requested for my hashbrowns to be well down and they said that wasn't possible either. FYI, water is not free on the island, so they will change you at the restaurant if you request it. If I'm back on the island, I'll probably try a different spot but nonetheless this was a good experience.
Breakfast spot located in downtown Avalon. It is about a 10th of a mile from the tender pier when you get off the cruise ship. We came here at about 9:30 AM on a Tuesday morning. It was not crowded, but quickly filled up. The waitstaff was very nice and accommodating. I have the pecan waffle for my meal. It was delicious. My spouse had the country gravy chicken and said his meal was OK. The restaurant offers beautiful views of the water.
One of the best eateries here at Catalina Island is Pancake Cottage Breakfast & Lunch. We ate here for breakfast 9am on a Sunday. We didn't wait long about 5 minutes before our party of 11 was seated. Pancake Cottage Breakfast & Lunch serves delicious breakfast and also provided excellent customer service. Not to mention perfect scenery and ambiance. You're looking at the ocean and the Main Street feeling the breeze while eating breakfast and drinking their Kona coffee. Our order consists of everything from their Signature Dishes, Combos, Omelets and Scrams as well as Bennies. We ordered Lox N' Bagel, Country Squire Combo, Breakfast Burrito, California Bennie, Chicken N' Waffles and Florentine Bennie. All our meals were prepared fresh, hot and delicious. All our food was delivered within 20 minutes of ordering. They brought our order out all at the same time. We can't wait to go back here in December.
On 06/30/26, I spent time on Catalina Island and had breakfast at the "Pancake Cottage" on Crescent Ave. I have eaten at this restaurant since 1989 and it is delicious every time. It's one of the first restaurants you see on the boardwalk. If you are looking for a delicious & hearty breakfast, try the Pancake Cottage. It never disappoints. The customer service is good. Back in the day it was nice to see the owners working at their old age. Always professional. The restaurant always has a line waiting but it seems to move pretty quick. I highly recommend this restaurant. After eating there you will definitely need some movement. There are plenty of activities to do on the island. Take a nice stroll while walking alongside the ocean. The Pancake Cottage is only open for breakfast and lunch which gives you plenty of time for a nice stroll or shop for some unique items in the island stores. If you are looking for a challenge, try Miniature Golf. It's a fun way to burn some calories while having fun.
After hitting another legendary spot here I had to eliminate the sweet tooth. Perhaps because it was hump day or the middle of the week, but being seated with no reservation wasn't an issue at all. I've had pancakes that were far more tastier, but these got the job done. Either way the service was on point, and all in all a decent product. read more

After arriving at the island, we were starving and decided to stop here and try out the food. I ended up ordering the Big Skillet Scramble (no onions) along with Apple Juice. The skillet itself wasn't really my favorite, so I only managed to get halfway through it at most, which was a bit of a bummer. The Biscuits N' Gravy, on the other hand, were absolutely delicious!! I immediately devoured those lol. I think if I came back, I'd definitely try something else, perhaps something from the Combos section. Still, the staff was nice :) read more

Arrived to Avalon for our wedding anniversary on a Sunday morning and jumped right into this restaurant. There was seating available at the bar so we sat quickly by the window and ordered immediately. Great start to the day. Of course we had to have mimosas on our special day (something we would do on sundays before baby boy came around). Unfortunately, but to be expected at an island restaurant, the food took some time to prepare. I would say about 30 min or so, but we were in no rush. Our bartender made the whole experience so pleasant! Shout out to Sergei (hope I spelled that right) for the fun conversation and the fun mimosa mix. We ordered pretty basic breakfast items.. but I have to say the bacon was my favorite. Cooked to perfection and not super salty. Sometimes it's just the simple things done right. read more
The staff is absolutely so lovely as always and welcoming. Times have changed here on the island, though that's for sure. It's missing that old school dining experience. It feels a little sterile and not warm and cozy. We miss the good all days. The food was tasty. They even have gluten-free options. Had the pancakes-they tasted a little greasy, maybe cooked on an overused grill. It had a meat and oil flavor But overall an amazing experience we try to get here every time we come over to the Avalon. Looking forward to some of the new places that are opening around the corner with same staff.. See ya soon read more

really cute spot! one of the first restaurants you'll see when walking towards the main area. we had a pretty big group, but they were able to accommodate all of us. got the tuna sandwich, and it was good 8/10! i would prefer mine with less sprouts. family said they very much enjoyed their chicken and waffles. servers were nice and helpful. they only serve bottled water ($2 per), so do keep this in mind! would definitely come back :) read more

This place was recommended to us by our taxi driver and it didn't disappoint. As soon as we arrive without reservations, we receded on a Saturday morning no sooner did we order our food. It was coming to our table. The place is small, but quaint, clean and ran like a well oiled machine . The food was delicious. I got the country fried steak, scrambled eggs and potatoes and my boyfriend got the chicken and waffles w/pecans omg so delicious. The food was so good. We ordered in from this restaurant the next day and enjoyed it in our room. We ordered the exact same thing.. a must try if you're on Catalina Island read more

Loved coming here. The food was amazing, the service was quick and nice. We got sat very quick as well , everything was extremely reasonably and it's located so quick to the boats so it's not far from anything. Over all 10/10 and I can't wait to come again soon. read more
Visiting Catalina for a long weekend and of the three breakfast places that we tried this was our favorite of the three. It has a beautiful location right across from Avalon Bay so you have a great view of the water while dining. It was quite busy when we arrived for our 9:30 Friday morning breakfast but we didn't have to wait very long. They have a pretty large menu filled with a lot of great options and the other diners around us seemed like they were enjoying their meal as well. Pricing is fair and our server was very polite. The restaurant is actually larger on the inside than it looks on the outside so there are plenty of seating options. The food was pretty good, not quite as good as the breakfast you will get over in the mainland, but for a little island breakfast spot it was really enjoyable. For my meal I ordered the Chorizo Sizzler and enjoyed it. I wish there would have been more chorizo and a little bit less onions but still overall it was a really nice meal. I also got a coffee and thought it was strong and tasty. I would recommend to anyone visiting the island and I would stop in again next time I visit Catalina. read more

I picked up breakfast at the Pancake Cottage on Catalina Island, and overall, it was a pretty good experience. The breakfast was reasonably priced, although I wish they had a better selection of omelets and allowed you to build your own with at least three vegetables without charging for each additional item. On the positive side, they do stuff their omelets with lots of meat, which I really enjoyed. I got full, the food tasted good, and that was great. However, they took a little longer than I would have liked to bring the check, and we had to ask them for it. Other than that, it was a good experience and one of the tastier meals on the island. read more

0stars would be better, for starters, customer service from the guys was horrible they act like they didn't want to be here, food took 20 minutes to get to my table for some raw eggs and one piece of bacon. Prices are extremely high, food was mid at best, and they had the audacity to add there own tips to our check! read more

I really wanted to like this place, especially since it was our first time visiting Catalina Island, but unfortunately our experience didn't reflect the reputation. We came in with family and asked if we could be accommodated at a larger table since my partner is very tall and we wanted him to be more comfortable. The staff refused, and THE HOST assisting our server, Violeta, responded with "bruh" and gave us a dismissive look, which immediately made things feel uncomfortable. While the service itself was fast, the overall atmosphere didn't feel welcoming. The food looked great when it arrived, but sadly it lacked flavor. We chose to stay and give it a fair chance instead of walking out, but the experience never improved. This was meant to be a special visit for us, and it ended up being disappointing. I hope management takes this as constructive feedback and works on improving both customer service and quality. read more

The food was fresh, flavorful and the service was great! Jose was our server and we had a party of 7 people and he was very attentive. I am a server myself so I am very picky with the level of service when I am out to restaurants and Jose met all my expectations!! We stayed on the island for almost a week. We tried another breakfast place and it was HORRIBLE!!! The food tasted old. When on the island, the Pancake Cottage is a must try! Also try the pancake breakfast shot, it was amazing!! read more
