It was my first time at Catalina Island. I kept hearing about Coney Island and since I only had 30 minutes before departure.. I needed something quick. I ordered basic fish and chips. Coney Island is a great, affordable, easy casual option on Catalina. I've come twice while scuba diving. The first time I got the clam and chips and my buddy got the fish and chips. The clam and chips were goood but I had food envy of my buddy's fish n chips, so the next weekend I got some fish n chips instead. Soooooo good! I dive with a group of 4 sisters and they all loved the fish n chips as well. The fish is perfectly CGB - crispy golden brown. The fries are perfect. They offer lots of sauces, and you can get it to go if needed. My instructor always gets a burger and she really loves that burger, let me tell you. They are as fast as they can be, even for 5 orders of fish n chips, we did have to wait a little longer, but it was a 15-20 minute wait at most. read more

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for some snacks for our group of 11. There was a line for ordering as well as a line for people waiting on their food. Great space in the patio for dine in. Although the eatery doesn't have many tables and chairs for dining, what they have is a good size to accommodate diners. Our order got called at the window for pick up within 30 to 45 minutes. The food pick up was staggered. We are a group of 11 and our food item orders all consists of cheeseburgers, hot dogs, turkey breast sandwiches, fish and chips, fries, ice cream on a cone and drinks. All food items we ordered was prepared at time of ordering. They were all fresh and hot. They missed 2 of our orders and forgot our root beer float. I love the thin beef patties they use on their burgers. Corn dogs were crispy. Fries get seasoned with like an all seasoning salt they're pretty tasty. Don't order the BLT and expect a BLT sandwich. I made this mistake when I received more resembled a sad hamburger without the hamburger patty. One sad piece of lettuce, onion, hamburger bun, the bacon was decent but there wasn't enough bacon, lettuce, or Tomato to call it BLT "sandwich". read more

No frills, just thrills. Wanting something simple after snorkeling. We wandered around to find this not-so-hidden gem. It is located on the corner of a very busy strip. Outdoor seating only, they accept cards, and refills are $1. We ordered a chili dog and fish and chips. The fish were perfectly fried; tender and flaky on the outside. The fries were standard. Gavin enjoyed his chili dog. I was thirsty so I went up to ask for a refill. At the front you can choose from a number of condiments, napkins, and I believe plastic utensils. I don't remember. There's something that always seems to hit about a classic hot dog if you want a break from all the seafood. I ordered the bacon hot dog and loved how grilled it was compared to a basic hot dog. The bacon was also the perfect touch, although I wish it was a bacon-wrapped hot dog versus just a single strip of bacon. The service was fast and there's a few benches to sit down and eat which was very convenient. My husband and I stopped on Catalina Island on a cruise and decided to try out this restaurant. It's in the Metropole Market Place. My husband ordered a regular burger, and I ordered a cheeseburger. I requested grilled onions with both of our burgers. The guy who took my order didn't mention that it cost $1.50 extra for grilled onions or $3 total. I always appreciate it when the person taking your order mentions if something costs extra. The French fries were only $2.50! The burgers were just okay, nothing special. Quick, simple, and good. This is probably the most affordable/reasonable price food you'll find on the island. The local was in the perfect spot since we were hanging out at the Fix Beer Garden which doesn't have food, and we weren't in the mood to leave and eat at any of the sit down restaurants. We just order our food from here and brought it over to the garden. They have fries for only $2.50...... you can't even get fries at Burger King for that much anymore. Wasn't starving but was in the mood for a snack with the kids. Going down the main strip of stores, we noticed Coney Island West. They've got a large variety of food from hamburgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, and "special" food like shrimp and chips, fish and chips, and clam strips and chips. We decided on ordering their clam strips and fries. Prices are reasonable with anything on the menu really. My kids have never had clam strips only calamari but they thought they'd give it a go. The fries were perfectly crisp not oily or salty. A nice portion of fried clam strips were also perfectly crisp with the slight chew of the clam as it should be. Kids loved it too! Service is fast also. I highly suggest paying in cash also. They do take credit cards but there is a charge for using them. Plenty of patio seating with some shade and well taken care of. The quality of this place has declined over the years. While it's the same outdoor stand with the same menu, everything went downhill. First off, the condiment bar is now pretty disgusting. Second, the quality of the food has declined. Yesterday, for instance, our burgers were soggy and our $6 onion rings only came with 5 rings (that's more than $1 per ring!). The cheese fries were covered in cheap, oily nacho cheese, which is strange because their cheeseburgers have pretty good slices on them (they're obviously cheaping out on these). This leads to the third issue: the prices here have skyrocketed. Our burgers, which used to be $6 each, were $11 each. They also now take way longer to produce orders. Since everything is more expensive now, it wouldn't be such a problem if the quality kept up, which it didn't. I can no longer recommend this place for a weekend Catalina trip. read more

Honestly such a solid corn dog and good pricing compared to everything else on the island. This is the same pricing you'd find on the mainland which caught me off guard. The corn dog was piping hot with the best crunch and crispy exterior. The hotdog was juicy and warm, truly one of the best American corn dogs I've had in a while.
