I found it a bit hard to find food that wasn't fried on the island, so I was happy to come across this place and find their gyros. It was very good too, and they had refreshing coconut water cans. I would come back here definitely
Ordered the PB + A bowl and it was really good. Flavors were there and all worked together. Great breakfast and lunch spot.
Randomly walked inside craving for something to refresh our parched mouths. We got a Beet To My Heart and a strawberry banana smoothie. Service was nice and fast. They even bring you your order while standing and waiting. The smoothie was bomb 10/10. My Beet drink was definitely healthy for the gut haha. It was quite an interesting taste, especially with the Beet. Overall, cute little cafe on this beautiful island.
A healthy little spot with fresh, clean ingredients. The servers were very friendly and welcoming. However, it was probably because the restaurant was extremely busy that day -- we asked for water three or four times, but unfortunately never received it before we left.
Good juice nice and fresh I got the garibaldi small,the smalls are really small and expensive but you are in Catalina island. The quality is good and the service was fine. They have a nice outdoor area with umbrellas.
PSA for anyone needing the gluten free bread, request it toasted. I ordered the veggie sandwich made vegan, which was supposed to have vegan cheese and it did not. It was gross dry bread, a few veggies, and a tiny bit of vegan mayo. I will usually still eat my food even if it's not great, but this was so bad I just couldn't. Not to mention it was close to $20. (My husband got this to go for me, so I couldn't take it back, ask for cheese, etc.)

My coffee the employee threw away when I turned my back for a second. I quickly ran over and said oh my gosh, my coffee and she completely ignored and didn't even apologize which was very rude. The girls here have bad attitude I would pass and go to Catalina coffee & cookie co instead
This breakfast smoothie restaurant stands out on Catalina Island. It's bright, health-conscious and accommodating cafe. In my 3-day trip to Catalina, I almost visited this cafe every day. The avocado toast, smoothie every thing was fresh and delightful. Ideal place for breakfast, lunch or quick healthy snack on the island
Cafe Metropole is a great breakfast spot with friendly service, good food, and a very clean space. We arrived right at 9am when they opened and were welcomed warmly, which always sets a good tone. We ordered the Catalina avocado toast and the chorizo burrito, and both were delicious, solid 9/10. Fresh, flavorful, and filling. You can tell care goes into the food. The only downside was that their fresh cold-pressed juices weren't ready yet when we were there. I personally don't love smoothies (they often feel like mostly blended ice with fewer veggie benefits), and the green smoothie on the menu wasn't really what I was looking for, so that was a bit disappointing. They only serve regular black coffee, but the lady working there was super helpful and recommended going next door to Catalina Cookie Company if we wanted lattes, which we appreciated. Overall, a great spot for breakfast with excellent service and quality food. Would definitely come back!

I liked the chicken pesto! It took us about 30 minutes to get our food. There is limited seating inside the cafe but plenty outside on the patio.
I came here for a late breakfast because I had heard good things about this place. I decided to try the spicy avocado toast and my husband ordered a breakfast burrito. We waited less than 10 minutes for our order. Luckily, this cafe is located inside the Metropole Marketplace so there's several tables right outside of the cafe. There's also one table inside the cafe but it only seats a party of 2. Honestly, the avocado toast looked pretty basic. And although it's advertised as the "spicy avocado toast," it really wasn't all that spicy because there wasn't a lot of sriracha put on top. I wish the bread had been toasted with some butter. I also wish the avocado had been seasoned with something because it tasted pretty bland. My husband was happy with his burrito, but nothing that was extraordinary or memorable. I'd probably go back if it was a last resort place to eat.
Best smoothie I've had on the island so far! The breakfast burrito is killer. Its an easy stop for breakfast on the main street with outdoor seating. It has a cute little shop too. The employees were all very nice and happy to answer all my questions. 10/10

It's also a bit of a gift shop! Favorites | Flavorful Falafel Pita bursting at the seams with healthy ingredients, including tomatoes, tzatziki, red onions, cucumbers and feta! I absolutely love the savory Tomato Basil Soup, it's a winner! I first tried the soup alongside a sandwich while on the island for NYE w/4 friends! We dined on the outside patio! I have also enjoyed their lightweight (not thick) Green Smoothie; green, refreshing and vibrant! #1 Stunner | Their Sweet Potato Fries are a standout! I've never had sweet potato fries quite like this before, and they offer a number of sauces to go along if you prefer! Each bite was memorable and I highly recommend! Customer Service | Friendly & helpful with the menu! Gift Shop Vibes | You will find cute candles, hats, accessory bags, and cute little items located against the wall, and right before you reach the register! This is where we like to have a simple breakfast or lunch. The store is very small inside. But the outdoor patio is very spacious and cozy. They have an extensive menu with healthy options. Also great beer and wine choices. Limited vegetarian and gluten free items. We like the crooked hard iced tea and white claws. Our favorites are stuffed avocado, bbq chicken fries, tuna melt, cubano, potato salad and açaí bowl. The service is always very friendly and foods come out fast. My first time trying Cafe Metropole and I was very pleased! I ordered the vegan chickpea smash and was very impressed with it. Cafe Metropole has many vegan options which is greatly appreciated on the island! The service was great. I can't wait to come back and try more! Thanks for having vegan Mayo as well! read more

I had 1/2 a cubano sandwich & half of a chicken, avocado and bacon. Both were incredibly tasty and full of fresh flavors! I also had their side salad which was great. They have a table or two inside, but mostly outside seating is available. The courtyard was really pleasant and there was live music playing nearby. Service was fine. This was my favorite breakfast spot in Avalon out of the two I went to! I loved how many acai bowl and avocado toast options they had, but you could also get classic drinks as well as other baked goods. I ordered the açaí bowl with the açaí base and thought it was very good overall. There was a lot of fruit, and the base was very tasty. I would've preferred the base to be a little thicker like typical bowls, as this one was more of a smoothie base, but still great overall! I'll have to come back and try the avocado toast options next trip! read more

A great spot for a casual lunch. They offer a wide variety of sandwiches to choose from. The tuna melt also can with a side of salad. The café is clean and visually appealing with limited indoor seating and ample outdoor seating to enjoy the atmosphere. Orders are prepared quickly, typically ready within 10 minutes. read more

Very small place with outdoor seating which helps. The food was good and there seemed to be some quality to it. I got a Cubano sandwich with sweet potato fries that cost an extra $3.50 at the time of this review. A little steep if you ask me. The Cubano was good, not great. Sweet potato fries were crispy and delicious. My wife got the avocado turkey sandwich. That thing was huge and fresh. Felt healthy. Service was friendly and the wait wasn't too bad considering they were busy. The one draw back other than the prices was no iced coffee options. Had to wait for coffee next door for over 30 minutes. Not a great setup during peak business hours. read more
Cute cafe with a pretty broad offering! They have sandwiches, paninis, smoothines, and acai bowls to name a few. We came here for lunch one of the days we were on the Island. I was pretty hungry so I went with a turkey sandwich, and my mom who was less hungry got a smoothie. The sandwich was really big and did a good job of filling me up. They definitely didn't skimp on the turkey or avocado, which was great! I ended up swapping the bread for sourdough, which was a little stale, but not too stale that it ruined the sandwich. They had a few small tables inside and plenty of seating outdoors. They also had some market shelves with nicknacks like sunscreen, mugs, cookies, hats, among other things. Would've given this place 4 stars if it were on the mainland, but it's pretty unique for Catalina Island since most of the other restaurants are sit down. Probably the best option for a quick and healthier lunch bite. read more

I was in Catalina Island, and I was looking for some healthy lunch options. After a quick yelp search, I came across this café and decided to check it out. As soon as I got there, I must say the ambience was beautiful and welcoming. They had an interesting menu with a bunch of vegan and vegetarian options. I got the veggie Panini with a side of salad. I did request for no cheese in my Panini because I wanted it to be a healthy version. They had both inside and outside seating , which was nice. My food came out relatively quick. The Panini was cooked to perfection and the portion size for the salad was pretty good. The salad was fresh and tasted great with vinaigrette dressing. The Panini itself was delicious. I did request for a side of hot sauce just to spice things up. The vegetables were cooked to perfection. Overall, I think this café was a great choice. They also had some interesting smoothies. I highly recommend this café if you're looking for interesting, healthy options or smoothies. read more

Yes! Yes! Yes! Cafe Metropole did it right! Tuna melt was sooooooo good! Super fresh tuna, not fishy at all. I like the crunch of the grapes in the tuna. The munster cheese was the perfect pick! I ordered my sandwich on gluten free bread & it was delicious. Perfectly toasted. I could have eaten another one. Sandwich is served with side salad or you can upgrade to sweet potato fries. My husband liked the salad, he said the dressing was tangy but good. We both loved the sweet potatoe fries. Get ready to spend a pretty penny! Our total was $50 for 2 tuna melts & 2 drinks. Yikes! But I don't put a price on good food. The girl who took our order was super sweet. I felt very welcomed. It's a cute little corner cafe with indoor & outdoor seating. Super cute & clean. Short staffed it seems like it but the food was great. We came two times. The first time was a lot more smooth sailing as the place wasn't as busy but the second time we went seemed a lot more chaotic. The lady who was food running looked pretty stressed and it just was all over the place with the ordering and getting our food. Chickpea Salad: 8/10. Light and refreshing. I love the amount of veggies that come with the sandwich with the little side salad. Veggie Pressed Sandwich: 6.5/10. Kind of lacking in flavor despite there being hummus but it was still a satisfying sandwich nonetheless. This place is a great option for a fairly quick dining option on the city of Avalon with a bunch of different menu options like acai bowls, juices, and sandwiches. read more
