All of the drinks are SO sweet. Tread carefully. They also weren't as high of quality as they should've been for the price. It's a cool themed bar, but definitely pricey.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Festive spot for a casual meal. Some friends recommended that we try the Buffalo Milk here. Buffalo Milk, we recently discovered, is sort of the signature drink of Catalina Island. We decided to try this place for lunch and had a good time. It's a very touristy Tiki-themed place, as the name implies, complete with a "grotto" seating area. It's the kind of place that doesn't let you forget that you're on vacation, dammit! We ordered the following; - Deep Fried Combo for me (good-sized platter with fried clams, shrimp and fish, accompanied by fries and a good cole slaw) - Garden burger with curly fries for the hubby (he said it was good, but nothing extraordinary) - Luau Iced Tea (felt more like an electric lemonade than a Long Island iced tea, but good) - Buffalo Milk (very reminiscent of a Mudslide--delicious but can't say it packed a punch) Our server was very friendly and prompt, although it was quite busy--definitely a pro. We had a nice time; wouldn't be averse to visiting again.

Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Food: Drinks: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Parking: Cute, local, tiki inspired bar in Catalina. Didn't have any food so didn't rate anything there. The whole area is walkable so no rating there either. Service was fast and the bartenders were great!

Busy tiki bar in Catalina with fun vibes, kitschy decor, great service, and fun drinks. Is it a little pricey for what it is? Yes, but that's Catalina for you! The coconut shrimp was fantastic and I got whichever drink gives you the fun hat and got to sit in the cave so I'm happy

Service was okay, but the oysters were so fresh and delicious. Drinks were great as well

Hmmm was sorely disappointed in the food and service. The waiter acted differently when we said that we were not going to be drinking. Felt like they were trying to rush us out. It was not even very busy. Would not come back here

Long story short, we got baited by their sign outside advertising a spicy lobster roll. Despite the fun atmosphere and friendly service, we just couldn't get past the subpar food. The fault likely falls on us, I know, but ugh, I couldn't help but feel disappointed with my meal. The lobster roll was ...literally just that. A roll with lobster pieces in it, with a slice of lemon and side of clarified butter. The "spicy" part was a jalapeno aioli drizzled over it. Note: it was not spicy. With soggy room temperature fries, It was all kinda cafeteria-esque, if I have to describe it in one word. The other people in our group felt the same about their dishes - buffalo burger, fish and chips, onion rings. Not bad, not great, just typical. Service was attentive and friendly, no complaints there. So as the 3 stars says - our experience was "OK". Yelp Adventures 2025 - 7 of ??

We were walking by when a waitress came out and welcomed us in for a dessert drink. Definitely a bar vibe, with drinks being central to the whole scene. We ended up having a drink plus onion rings. It was like having a hush puppy wrapped onions in a ring. Very thick and filling. But also had a very good flavor. They are made onsite and were delicious. We will be back!

Order the Wiki Wacker and get the hat! This was such a fun bar and had the best vibes in Avalon.

Shrimp dinner

Loved the atmosphere, loved the music and the staff was so friendly. However the prices were up there. For 4 pieces of shrimp and fries and coleslaw it was $23 which I thought was absurd. I expected to get at least 6 shrimp for a "shrimp and chips dinner" but received something close to a kids meal..

Piña colada & pineapple gummy

Such a fun gem! The music is great! The atmosphere is fun! The lobster roll? To die for! They have the best piña coladas on the island!! Wish the staff were more attentive, but they are still nice. I absolutely loved the vibe and wish they had a little dance floor.

If you're going to Avalon, I 100% recommend Luau Larry's! My friend and I were here for the MLK weekend and went in twice! Across both trips, I ordered the Hamburger Aloha O'Lea, a side of onion rings, as well as the Gummy Bear Cocktail, Avalon Sunset, and Ken's Punch. The hamburger was great, especially with the addition of the guacamole and the onion rings were perfectly fried. Out of all the cocktails I got, I definitely loved the Gummy Bear one the best as I had it three times across 2 days. All of their cocktails are amazing though. Service was also really good! Bartender was super nice and everything came out very quickly. We came on a Saturday and Sunday night, and although it does get a bit crowded, worth any wait!

Joy K.

What a fun little bar! Sit down, order a Mai Tai, and get into island mode while enjoying the feel of cool ocean breezes and chill. The colorful mural of the island birds sipping on their cocktails is so cute! My kind of place for sipping a cocktail!

This spot checked all my Tiki-bar boxes: moody lighting, fun kitschy décor, and seriously great drinks. I started with a Mai Tai--perfectly strong but still super tasty--then switched to a glass of Chardonnay so I wouldn't be completely blitzed for the movie. We still had time to spare, so I finished with a virgin Piña Colada and oh my gosh, it was delicious. Loved the jukebox and pool tables, too. Huge thanks to Lindsay for the excellent service. We'll definitely be back!

No mint on top, zero lime flavor, but a cherry on an umbrella. I literally took one sip and pushed the glass back to the edge of the bar. Not one bartender or bar back came to check on my party after sitting our drinks down. After about twenty minutes of being ignored someone came and grabbed my husbands empty glass but left my completely full glass sitting on the bar mat. Another ten minutes or so of still not being checked on and we finally decided to leave. I'm out the twelve bucks for my drink but I consider it a twelve dollar lesson in not coming back here again. Sadly, the only reason we chose to get drinks at this bar was because I insisted I wanted a drink before heading home.

The lighting and the sound system was on point with other great venues. This was my first visit to the Tiki Bar. Parking is limited and I had to find street parking a couple blocks away but no issues there. Prices were great, some venues like to gouge you for drinks. $9 for well cocktails $5 for bottled beer. You can't beat that in most venues. Compared to HOB it was a steal and the same level of music and people. Smeller venue but great sound, great energy and great people. Prior reviews that said bright lights and bad drinks I did not experience that at all. The tiki vibe is admittingly lacking there's a sparse amount of tiki related decor but the tiki drink I got was great and strong and cheap! What more can you ask for. The crowd was great except they all scattered like cockroaches when the music ended LOL!

I handed her $20 and she repeated "$24". I told her I just gave you a $20 -she said no. I had just taken out $80 from their ATM so I know it wasn't in my wallet because I only had $60. I canceled the quesadilla And said screw it- paid her the extra $20. So basically $29 for 3 street tacos. And went in my way. She is sneaky. Probably gets away with this on buzzed dudes in the bar.

The Lost Inferno is a tiki bar in San Clemente that is themed around the classic 1980s movie "The…read moreGoonies". It is a drinks-only bar for now, so eat before coming. Their website teases that food is coming soon. It is a fairly small place and I would definitely recommend making a reservation on Yelp. If there are no reservations available when you want to visit, they also have a Yelp live waitlist. The building has its own parking lot with about ten spaces and is shared with the sushi speakeasy upstairs. We arrived around 6:30pm on a Sunday night, and luckily there were still quite a few spaces available. A half hour later, the place was packed. The outside of the building is not marked. Enter through the red double doors in front, walk to the right, and the entrance will be easy to spot. Seating options include eight seats at the bar, four high-top tables in the main area that seat four people each, and a slightly raised grotto area with one four-seat table and two two-seat tables. We often like to sit at the bar, but I reserved a table in the grotto so we could get the full experience and I'm glad I did. The interior has great décor with a mix of tiki and pirate ship elements. The walls are wooden plank, with cargo netting, ropes, and tiki lights above. The walls have portraits of Goonies movie characters. Take two steps up to the grotto area, and you are inside of a cave with skulls, shells, and treasures embedded in the cave walls. There is also a small waterfall in the corner. Scan the QR code on the table for the cocktail menu. It is colorful and many of the drinks have names tied to The Goonies. Each drink also has zero, one, or two skulls next to it to indicate the booziness factor. They have quite a few original cocktails as well as classic tiki drinks, a few mocktails, spirits, beer, and wine. I started out with the Ash Landing (Hamilton Pot Still Blonde Rum, Hamilton 86 Demerara Rum, Hamilton Pimento Dram, Angostura Bitters, Pineapple, Lime, Ginger, One Skull booziness, $14). This was definitely a little on the boozy side, with good ginger flavor and the pineapple and lime in the background. She started out with the One-Eyed Willy (Pou Vodka, Lychee, Guava, Coconut, Sweet & Sour, $15, keep the mug for $65). It is rare that a vodka drink is my favorite of the night, but this was both of our favorites. It was very balanced and juicy, and not boozy at all. The guava, coconut, and citrus from the sweet and sour were all there. We bought the mug, and they bring you a new one in original packaging. The purchased mug is colored a little differently (blue instead of black) than the mug the drink is served it, but it still looks great. While walking around taking pictures, I ran into our server and mentioned that it was my girlfriend's birthday. He kindly brought us some shots on the house. He said it was a recipe they had for shots during Halloween, and it tasted like a spin on a kamikaze. It was very good and much appreciated. I have a hard time resisting a cool mug, so for my second drink I ordered the Slick Shoes (Planteray Pineapple Rum, Worthy Park Rum, Bounty Dark Rum, Strawberry, Papaya, Lime Juice, $17). It is served in a cool sneaker mug with a flaming lime half on top. It was nicely balanced and just a tiny bit boozy. It had a nice light fruit flavor, not overly sweet at all. I think it is sometimes served in a regular glass, so if you order it, be sure to ask for the sneaker mug. Her second cocktail was the Never Say Die (Producer Mezcal, Kiwi, Lemon, Mango, Grilled Pineapple, $14). The smokiness of the mezcal was on the hairy edge of being too smoky for me, but she loved it. She could taste the kiwi and mango. We shared one last drink, the Garden of Eden (Papa's Pilar Blonde Rum, Lavender, Lemon, Elderflower, Cucumber Bitters, One Skull booziness, $17). It had an interesting (good) floral flavor profile, and didn't strike me as boozy at all. I could definitely taste the cucumber notes from the bitters. There was good 80s music playing in the background. It's a Goonies themed bar, I get it, but we would have enjoyed a few tiki songs in the mix too. There is one unisex restroom out in the lobby area. It is nice that they also themed it with wooden plank on the walls and ceiling, and some nautical décor. Daniel was our server and was very friendly and provided great service. Thanks again Daniel for the birthday shots! Bartender Felipe also delivered one round of our drinks and was also very friendly. All of the drinks were good and there are definitely more on the menu that we would like to return and try. We had a real fun time, thanks Lost Inferno!

Im giving this place 3 stars because there is 1 bathroom for the whole place, and you frequently see people dancing around outside waiting. they also dont let you use the restaurants bathroom upstaires. i ended up having to leave and walk down the block to use another restaurants bathroom. I wont be going back to this bar until they remedy the bathroom situation. it shouldnt even be legal. Weve been in the west coast tiki scene since 2010, ranging from Vancouver, Canada, Washington, Oregon and all the way to San Diego, and as much as we like this place, being 50+ without a reliable bathroom to use is a No-Go for us. I asked the Host at the door If I could use the restroom at the restaurant up stairs and she said, " we dont allow the tiki bar patrons to use the restaurant bathroom." Then the host watched me pace back and forth for a few more minutes and watched me leave. So if the manager is saying otherwise, either they need to retrain the host (who was there 9 months ago so not new), or the manager just made this up so the review wouldnt hurt business. So , the next time we are there, I'll specifically tell the host the manager said to let me use the bathroom upstairs and see if it works. Im also going to screen capture the managers response and save it to notes, so that if im told i cant use the bathroom at the restaurant again, I have something to show to them.

Obviously with covid takeout i imagine if eaten fresh off the grill the sourdough would be crunch exterior melty soft. BUT even with a 35minute travel time home, the steam builds up inside so kinda soggy, it's still so yummy! so much wagyu beef so juicy plus the slightly spicy sauceOoMPh just slap me! the fries are like sliiiiightly spiced. meh. i've never been a fan of fat steak fries. too chonky. will try the tots next cuz who doesn't love fluffy crumbled tater tots!??? will update as i eat my way thru the rest but the big juicy dog is being eyed ---- Loco Moco burger $14 - is even better than opening week. It actually seems flatter now, buts it's every bit as delicious and better. which if you take into account you can't eat it fresh cuz u have to take it home (25-30min drive for me), then it would've been awesome right off the grill. It's downright juicy, oddly i love the frisée? it's like thinly crunchy which turns out really nice especially when it's seeping with whatever that thousandislandy looking sauce with the faintest of spicy hints (not actually spicy, the sweet savory juices drown it), however it makes the super soft bun mushy which makes your hands ultra messy (do not touch your phone or your face, that's how viruses get passed around). Egg was nestled in the center so when i popped it, the oozy goodness enhanced the already amazing burger. Comes with a side of polynesian mac salad which is nothing like blind rabbits truffle mac n cheese but this mac salad is cold with fun crunchy bits and a hint of a spicy kick. Banana Bread $8 - yo i do not know how they came up with this but this item is godly. the bread itself is good, dense, sweet like lvl3 delicious. but the explosive flight to lvl7 is from the super caramellyish thick sauce and the crunchy pieces of whatever sprinkled about. PLuS whatever that white cream is, all together is a super amazing experience. Saturn 2 for $22 - alright i thought this was the 1 of the 4 drinks that i liked from opening week. the online order thing is weird, it LISTED as 2 for $22, but when you add 2 to your cart, it charges you $44, so naturally i thought each order is a set of 2 right? so i order 1 (set) for $22. And that's where it got weird, the package contained 1 pouch which appears like 1 drink of saturn BUT they also gave me 2 ziploc bags of ice (1 of which was leaking), 2 straws, 2 sets of garnish (i LOVE that even tho its to go, they're giving you the garnish even tho it was 2 leaves and 2 flowers). Now with 1 pouch tho it's either you share the same drink (very anti-social distancing) or you bring your own glass to split it....and then ice+garnish it. anyways um...it's strong, like just out the front door strong, like beast claw just ravaged your face strong. every sip, i felt the tonic punch me in the face and i would fade away a little. The taste? really wasn't appealing to me, but i paid $22 for it so i'm gonna drink it fml. IT JUST wouldn't end though! i kept sipping and sipping and oh lord my face kept getting punched so i was like....alright let's just man up and down this sucker. BAD MOVE. X_X. Brain decided to take a 5 hour nap. Woke up...and ITS STILL UNFINISHED!!! PLZ JUsT END!! 2nd curbside attempt -Loco Moco Burger -Banana bread cake x i'm calling it quits on the drinks. it's just not the same level as tBR (older sibling) Parking: structure just north of the block is a couple bucks an hour ticket place. and supposedly there's a "free 2hr" corner lot across from them/ice rink but it's very limited in space. Service: always a pleasure. For curbside they'll bring it out to the curb but the street doesn't really have per se like an expanded area to wait, so if you're there for long, you could totally be blocking traffic cuz people are turning into the small 2 becoming 1 lane street. And i hate idling my car, 10minutes of idling? We're killing the planet (and she's having her revenge now). Nah i'll park at the open lot and just walk over, i need the exerFRIES anyways. -apparently i saved this andnever posted I apology. Im coming back today and i anticipate itll still be awesome.
