Solid coffee shop in Avalon that also serves pastries and a variety of breakfast foods. To drink, I had their Iced White Mocha and it was pretty good. The iced version only comes in double size (16 oz). The drink was sweet and creamy and went well with the pastry I brought from the mainland. It is on a pricer side for an iced coffee drink, but still good for the island nonetheless. My friend and I visited around 8am on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. We waited around 10 minutes to receive our drink order. For seating, there's only outdoor seating. I'd recommend this spot to anyone visiting Avalon!

After ordering, the staff directs everyone to wait outside until your name is called at the pickup window. All of the seating is outdoors, and there isn't much shade, so on the extremely hot day we visited, it definitely wasn't a place we wanted to linger. We grabbed our drinks and were on our way pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the service has been consistently disappointing both times I've visited. I understand that summer is a busy season and the staff are trying to keep the line moving, but the interactions came across as rushed and, at times, borderline rude. During my first visit, I asked to have my drink remade, and while they did remake it, the attitude I received made me feel like I was inconveniencing them just by asking. It was uncomfortable enough that I felt bad for speaking up, which was disappointing, especially considering the satisfaction guarantee advertised on the menu. Overall, I understand why this place stays busy; it's a well-known coffee stop in Catalina, but between the average drinks, high prices, and underwhelming service, I'll probably check out a different cafe the next time I'm back.

We ordered the iced horchata latte and this was actually good although i couldnt taste too much of the coffee but the other flavors were refreshing and not too sweet. Both of these with a substitution of almond milk came out to $20 which is pretty steep:/
This is a great bakery shop for delicious bakery goods, also grab and go for breakfast and lunch. They open very early in the morning and ordering online for pickup is very convenient. We like the iced coffee and matcha latte with oat milk. I love peach turnover, lemon seed muffin and matcha white chocolate cookie. Sister loves the gluten free chocolate cookie and vegan pastry. I have yet tried their breakfast but I plan to next time we are in town. A fantastic shop to stop by for caffeine boosts and bakeries!

Not pictured here was the chocolate croissant and the berry danish we had that were absolutely delicious as well! The inside is quite small but so so cute. They have so many little trinkets to look at for purchase as well. Our drinks came out very quick which was awesome! I will say we went quite early in the morning on a Thursday, and again early morning on a Friday and it wasn't busy. However, we stopped by again later in the day on Friday to check out all the cute stores surrounding and it was PACKED! To beat the crowd, go early. We loved it here and will absolutely be back next time we're in Avalon!

Please come and treat your own adventure.

I tried the white chocolate matcha cookie (didn't even know that was a thing!) and it was SO good--perfectly soft with a great balance of matcha and sweetness from the white chocolate. The iced lattes were delicious too. The inside is tiny! There is friendly service and definitely a popular spot because there was a line out the door pretty much every time we walked by (our hotel was right in the same courtyard), but honestly, it was worth the wait if you're craving something sweet or need a caffeine boost.

The quaint cafe is quite popular on the island and always has a long queue. Thankfully it moves quickly. I ordered their classic ham and cheese croissant and it was delightfully flakey and savory. It made for a wonderful snack before we embarked on our adventures and came out quickly. read more

I asked for extra matcha because I underestimated them and then I had one of the most yummiest, earthy, flavorful matchas ever??? You have to be a real matcha lover to like this stuff. They ALSO have a build your own sandwich/bagel/burrito- whatever you want. I loved it so much. This place was busy and I see why now. This is my second time coming this time I got a bagel here and that was so good with the aragula salad on it. I had the caramel macchiato the large one I got it warm but they sell it iced too. I got the almond butter croissant which was tasty asked for it warmed up so it tasted better. As someone who values customer experience over everything, Catalina coffee and cookie failed on multiple fronts. Ill start with the negative. Off the bat there was no clear indication of where the line started. People were clumped and unorganized. The music inside the establishment was good music but it was way too loud considering how busy the store was. It was disorienting. We were rushed to order, and because of this we didnt get a chance to ask questions or explore what we wanted. A minute or 2 after ordering, I went back and asked if there was any chance to swap the kind of milk from the drink we got, since we were rushed we didnt modify how we wanted it. In response the lady rudely put our drinks on the table and replied "no, your drinks are made." I get it, its Summer, nobody wants to remake a drink during peak hours. What bothers me isnt the lack of flexibility, Im not entitled to what im asking for. What prompts this review is the rudeness and the rushing as the default setting. Coming to an establishment to be treated like a receipt is something people only tolerate doing once. On to the positive. The food was astonishingly well done. Super cute coffee/breakfast spot across the public beach. They have make your own bagels, breakfast burritos, and pastries. We had a latte, an iced white mocha, a cinnamon roll (warmed up!), and a breakfast burrito. It was all delicious. Even if there are long lines, the staff are fast and friendly. The line was SUPER long on memorial monday, which was pretty expected for how amazing this place is. We got the mango smoothie which was very flavorful, fresh, and tasted like it was made with freshly ripe mangoes. The ham and cheese croissant was also one of the best I've had and came out piping hot! The iced matcha was also not bad. Great place for coffee and breakfast items! This coffee shop was literally less than a minute walking distance from our hotel in Avalon. I was craving a breakfast burrito and avocado toast and found that this place had both! My husband and I shared both items. Between the breakfast burrito and the avocado toast, we both loved the breakfast burrito a lot. It had the perfect amount of filling inside compared to how much tortilla they used to wrap it. Sometimes a lot of other places use too much tortilla, but this place did not! The burrito also came with their chipotle sauce which tasted well with it. As for the avocado toast, it was mediocre for me. The next morning, my husband and I ended up getting our own breakfast burritos hehe. The pastries looked pretty decent here, so I ended up getting the blueberry muffin, and the people with me got the matcha cookie. I did not like the blueberry muffin at all. It was a weird, gummy texture, and it tasted artificial. It reminded me of little bites, but in a bad way. The people with me liked the matcha cookie though. Someone with me got the matcha, and said it was one of the worst matchas she has ever had. It was not creamy at all, was bitter, and she didn't even come close to finishing it. We came here because we saw it in a travel vlog and thought it was the only coffee shop in town. Spoiler alert: it's not. And honestly, thank goodness. The coffee was not good, the breakfast burrito was even worse, and the whole experience was just super meh. Nothing outright offensive, but definitely not something I'd go out of my way for again especially on vacation when decent coffee feels like a basic human right. On our last day we discovered Catalina Island Brew House, and WOW. Night and day difference. Better coffee, better food. They even have these little bite sized cheesecakes for when you just want a taste and not a full commitment to being a proper fat ass. Skip this place and go to Catalina Island Brew House instead. If you're craving a matcha latte while on the island, I recommend getting it at Catalina Coffee & Cookie! You can customize the type of milk for your latte. The green was vibrant and you can definitely taste the matcha. Besides drinks, they also sell a variety of pastries and you can build your own bagel sandwich. Stopped by Catalina Coffee & Cookie Company to try out their famous Iced Mocha and Iced Matcha. This coffee and cookie shop was recommended to us by one of our friends so we thought to check it out. We visited on a Saturday afternoon for some caffeine fix. So many good coffee and pastry choices on the menu and on display inside the glass counter by the register. The baristas were awesome and informed us about Catalina Coffee & Cookie Company. Our Iced Matcha and Iced Mocha were ready within a few minutes. The Iced Matcha was good. You can taste the match and coffee blend. The Iced Mocha was also good. It wasn't too sweet and you can taste the espresso along with the mocha. Excellent coffee shop in downtown area and very very busy in the mornings. I came here twice during my stay on Catalina Island and both times I got an iced coffee with coconut and it totally hit the spot both days! I did get a spinach pastry one morning here but that was so so. Be prepared to get in a long line with you come in the mornings but it moves at a good pace.
