Took my car in for tire rotation. The guy told me I didn't need to rotate because it's all-wheel-drive. He said my tires were low, and he could sell me new ones. Turns out, my tires were not as low low as he said they were and still under warranty, but now I can't get my tire warranty to cover the tires, because I didn't rotate them (because the guy wanted to sell me tires instead of do the tire rotation I asked him for) Don't go to this Mr. Lube. Came by for some oil change action. Staff are friendly and professional. They record the VIN so that the service records are on file, which makes things easy. The coffee machine here says $1, but it seemed to dispense for free. They have several flavours such as mocha, which is nice. They also offered me a complimentary newpaper but I didn't bother. The oil change went pretty quickly I must say. They also checked the various fluids, and found a dirty engine filter. This place marks up the filter quite a bit compared to places like Canadian Tire, but this is expected since they also do the installation. Overall everything went smoothly and quick. read more

I'm reading lots of spotty reviews here for oil change services, and I can't talk to that at all, but I CAN talk about their tire check services here, and they are GREAT! The other day, the tire pressure light started flashing on my dashboard, and it freaked me out. Nothing like a neon glowing glaring "alert" light on your dashboard to get one all riled up. No way to avoid the glaring light, too. And of course I had a bunch of medical appointments all this week, and I need my car to get to them all. Of course. So today, en route to one such appointment I passed this Mr. Lube, right on the corner of Arbutus and 10th, and despite the small parking lot there being full, I pulled in. A nice guy directed me to one of the two drive-thru service bays. I told him the issue, he said it'd be about a 10-15 minute wait, and I said ok, I'll wait (I had no appointment or anything. So I was just glad they could work me in. It definitely looked busy there today). A tech checked my inner car door frame to see the recommended tire pressure, and as I sat in my car, he (or someone else) filled all my tires with the correct air pressure. (I guess all four were low. The sudden onset of colder weather affected all four tires' air pressures). They were so stealth-like and quiet and fast, I didn't even see the tech/s do this. All I know is, five minutes later, a guy is knocking on my window, telling me it's all done! I asked how much I own them and he said...NOTHING. What? Am I still in Vancouver? Am I dreaming? Getting something here FOR FREE? A needed car service? FOR FREE? WOW. I was so impressed. And I gotta say, the guys here were so nice, to go above and beyond and patiently help me navigate my way out of the service bay, in reverse, through the obstacle course of cars parked at all angles in their little parking lot. (They were all so patient, and I was a little nervous with these maneuverings in reverse). What great guys. So.... I don't know the deal here with oil changes or other car services, but they sure helped me with checking my tires and filling them with air, and not even charging me. Mr Bali really helped me out a few days ago. I had driven over a clump of snow and it had displaced the cover under the car that keeps mud from covering the mechanical parts underneath the vehicle. It was rubbing on the ground and making a horrible noise after about 50k. For free they zap strapped it back up for be. Yes, their oil changes are more expensive than out in the 'burbs. It is worth it to me not to need to drive across town. Thanks Mr Bali and crew for helping me out. read more

Got dashboard notice my rear passenger side signal light was burned out, followed quickly y another notice I was at minimum levels for oil. Could not get in right away at my mechanic's, nor at standard service places, like Canadian Tire. Stopped in at Mr. Lube, Arbutus and West 12th - fully expecting ti be turned away without an appointment. iA cheerful young man told me to get in line and it would be about ten minutes - and it was! Two fellows opened my trunk, took a look at the light and figured out it was not burned out, just had a loose connection, which the fixed. Then they added some oil and cautioned me I would need an oil change soon. I went to pay and was told no charge. Experience was pleasant, quick and I had great. customer service. I know this is nonsense because I have had the exact same light changed there before at least a few times Clearly he couldn't be bothered to do his job or perhaps didn't know how. I took my car into Mr Lube to see if they could plug my rear tire leak or if I needed new tires for the rear. They said a patch would not do and that I needed 2 new tires. They sold me 2 new tires for a total price for 2 tires ,installation, taxes of $700. When I later called Canada Tire to see what their prices were, they were all in, $495.!When I called Mr. Lube they said of course Canada Tire Stores tires prices are much lower than ours because they buy-in much higher volume than we do and I should've checked out their prices 1st before coming to Mr. Lube! This was not too satisfying. The other problem was that they said that I absolutely needed 2 new brake linings on my rear tires because they were "metal on metal". I refused what I thought was their, "upsell". I knew this to be false because I had had my Mini at the Mini dealer just 2 days before , to check out my rear tire leak. and they said I had lots of time left on the rear brake linings. Again, I was not pleased with what "upselling" tried to do at Mr. Lube. When I called to complain about that attempt to "upsell me" the Regional Manager said that there was nothing much he could do about it. So, the warning is watch out before you enter onto the premises of the Mr. Lube on Arbutus St. in Vancouver! read more

Be aware. Many times in the past and yesterday I did oil change. High synthetic oil. Each time on few location, employees print out sticker that states next time oil change and each time I have to ask why for synthetic oil I need next oil change after 5k. They apologize and change sticker to 10K. Yesterday I didn't ask. Again same thing. Is this how they cheat customers.??? Check your sticker after oil change. Very sneaky business read more

Leaving my car there for them to repair a nailed tire, got called back after 20 mins with a new big nail on the other tire ( I carefully checked all tires and never seen that noticeably big nail before coming to Mr Lube). They said they cannot repair it (expecting a new tire). I was angry as I had no proof to show. I proceeded to other store "Ms Tires", and they said both tires are totally fixable. I got them fixed for 25$ each, meanwhile Mr Lube was announced 70$ each. Eventually, I am still happy since I had a better price in another store with good service, thanks to Mr Lube Arbutus ;) . read more

**** WOMAN DONT GO HERE - SCAM**** I am not alone, read previous reviews from men to but it seems that woman are the target here. I cannot believe this is happening regularly and there's no thorough investigation by Mr.Lube that results in improvement. Are Mr.Lube incentivizing such mark ups? is it encouraged? on August 9th 2023, I visited your garage for a routine oil change. During the visit, I was informed of an alleged "urgent repair" requirement pertaining to the rear differential oil, which i was told was black instead of clear. The mechanic insisted that my car would be written off if I do not make this oil change. This revelation was both surprising and distressing, leading to unnecessary panic on my part. In the midst of this concerning situation, my husband made the decision to change the oil himself. Luckily, Mr. Lube did not have the required synthetic Honda oil on-site until later in the day, which did not align with our schedule. Hastily, my husband procured the necessary materials from Honda to perform the oil change and proceeded to work on the car. To his astonishment, upon inspecting the rear differential, it became evident that the bolts securing it had not been opened. This discovery strongly suggests that your mechanics were unable to accurately assess the condition of the rear differential oil. Upon further examination, it became clear that the oil was, in fact, clean and did not warrant a change I raised this in a format complaint and asked what are the consequences of their mechanics attempting to con people out of hundreds of dollars and they shut it down saying its 'only a recommendation'. A recommendation comes from a professional who has my best interest at heart. Not a con man after my money, that's called daylight robbery. I think they seen that my knowledge on cars wasn't great and they took advantage of that. Do not go there! read more

I bought a used truck in a private sale and later took it to Mr Lube to have the oil checked and potentially changed. Also for a general professional look at the vehicle's condition. It was driving very well when I brought it in. I expressed to the guys (who were quite flirtatious) that I didn't know much about vehicles but that the truck was strong and drove well. The man helping me expressed to me that the oil was clean and I should save my money. He then mentioned that the transmission fluid was murky. I asked him if he suggested I change it, given that I wasn't paying for an oil change. He said yes. 2 days later my transmission failed. I called and asked to speak to him so that I could get some evidence to take the owner to small claims. I received no response from him. I later discovered that it is well known that changing transmission fluid improperly most often leads to failed transmissions. I'm assuming this is why I didn't hear back from Mr. Lube. I definitely do not recommend this place. read more

The first time I came in for an oil change, I already knew I wanted synthetic and knew it was more expensive, I was a bit annoyed with the attempt to upsell me on air-filters etc. But let it go. They then told me that my transmission fluid was dangerously low and I should get it done ASAP, I declined and later asked someone I knew to check. Apparently it was getting low but wasn't the emergency Mr. Lube @ Arbutus claimed it to be. Next oil change time, I brought a quart of Transmission fluid from my dealership and brought it with me, expecting I'd be told it was low, prepared to ask them to top up. When they checked they said it wasn't low at all and to wait until my next oil change, then I should do a flush and if I brought my own fluid they'd do it cheaper--- I did this and it only cost $50. The win that kept me coming back. At a later oil change time I'd been through a car wash and my skid plate had dropped, these guys zap-strapped it back up for me, no biggie, no extra charge. Jump to yesterday Sept. 25th 2021. Seasonal tire swap time. I always went to Kal Tire but because I've had good service here I didn't. What I did not expect was a $89 after tax bill for a seasonal, mounted on rims, tire swap for a hatchback (small car). At the time I was too surprised to say anything, wanting to price check other places to be sure I wasn't complete nuts. Normally I pay around $59 at Kal Tire. I called the Main St. location of Mr Lube the next day and they confirmed that they charge $59 for mounted seasonal tire swap on a small car-- I even had them confirm for my make and model, still only $59 pre tax. Satisfied with that I called Mr. Lube / Arbutus and explained this to them. I was told that it would be looked into and they'd call me back, and that he'd check with the Main st location himself as he was under the impression I had been charged correctly. Hour later I was called back and informed that he had checked with the person who had done the tire swaP and that the charge was correct as I have a Sedan--- Which I do not, I have a Honda Fit Hatchback. I argued that this made no sense and once again said that the Main st location quoted me $59 before tax. He said because it's a franchise--- so now their prices are totally different depending on the location.... I began to say "Oh, so they (main st mr lube.) are much cheaper then you guys-" in which he said he would call them and ask them (which supposedly he already did!) I pointed out that was what he was supposed to have done already, he apologized and said he'd call them and get back to me--- three hours later I called them back as no one had called me, and was informed that I had been charged correctly because they offer Balancing, and balancing is more complicated and therefore they charge $89 after tax for tire swap on a small car. And I could speak to the manager if I wanted, which I did, same song and dance, in the end they offered me windshield wiper blades for the frustration of never being told prior to leaving my car that the cost of the tire swap was $89 after tax. --Windshield wiper blades to be offered at my next service, I told them I wouldn't be coming back after all this and how disappointed I was that they charge $30 more then anyplace I've been to before. I'm so disappointed that they didn't inform me of the insanely high cost for a seasonal mounted tire swap before doing it. I will definitely never go to a Mr lube again and certainly not the Arbutus location. I really thought that this place was different, it just seems to be hit and miss with whom you get and for the love of sanity ask all the questions before getting work done, including costs with guarantees... Which probably aren't possible.... read more

Had Balli today, and he was very informative; showed me around under the hood of the car and what to look out for to keep my car in good working condition. DO NOT take your car here. These amateurs damaged my car: they used greasy, gritty rags and dry paper towels to clean off their oily stains on my hood, spreading it farther, doing more damage. The paint is now scratched. The one guy tried to force the inside plastic engine cover back on incorrectly. They tried to charge me $124 for doing absolutely no inspection other than change the oil and filter. After I argued with them they refused to give me a proper invoice. I have sent a report to their head office. 10 days later: ICBC is now involved. Despite Mr. Lube video footage, they are denying everything they did. Completely reckless behaviour. read more

As others have said, the prices here are trés high. They don't even list the price on their website, which should be warning enough. With taxes etc. even a regular oil change will cost in the $80 range. And yes, they do work very, very hard to upsell you on other services which are also far less expensive (and no doubt as good) from other providers. read more

The mechanic tried to convince me that I needed rear brakes and new tires. Said they were at 10% and it wasn't safe to drive. I took my car to the dealer and the brakes were at 70% and the tires had a year left in them. The mechanic was rude and patronizing.
