A recent trip to Whistler was an eye opener: one of our tire was popped and needed to be patched, and there was a funny sound when starting the car about to drive home on Sunday. By Tuesday of the same week, The Hubs said he can barely start the car. He took public transit to work while I looked for an auto shop to take my car in for the day. Called a couple of shops and they are full for the week. I randomly searched and came across this place on Google that is tucked away in the end of a long brown building. Walter picked up the phone and was genuinely concerned about my car and whether I can start it. He asked me some great questions that should be easy to answer, but I have no clue since The Hubs handles the maintenance. Walter was very patient with someone that has minimal knowledge about their car and gave great instructions to explain how to get to the shop and what to do once there. Once I figured out how to start the car, I drove over and drop off my car with Walter at 12pm, who also asked me if there's anything else they need to check for me. Informed him of the tire problem and he said he'll make sure someone take a look and torque it as well. Walter called at 2pm and let me know the diagnosis and what is needed to be repaired. Turns out battery is end of its life and needs a new one. Also, my tires are getting bare and needed some new treads - Walter said he can find and give me a few options. By 3:30pm, Walter called back and said the car is ready. Made my way back and explained the what they have done, how much it costs and also the tire options. The price is fair. I feel assured by their level of service and knowledge. I'm very glad I stumbled upon them. Overall: Walter & team is great. I have a great service, fair prices, and I will take my car to service there again.

I took my car for a standard service and to take a look at a warning light. I came away with a totally flat battery (couldnt even start the car in the forecourt and the warning light not dealt with). To top it all they charged me $500 for a $375 retail price Battery. They also charged me 30% more than I was quoted over the phone for my service and couldn't explain it other than to say it was a receptionist who misquoted me. Mike tried to BS me that he had placed a better battery, but his product code which he had cleverly disguised so clients can not cross check the price, aligned exactly with what he had fitted. I called him on it and of course he went silent on me. No responses whatsoever. To miss a flat battery, makes me wonder what else wasn't completed in this car service. When lining up to pay for the car on collection, both clients in front of me were complaining of overcharges against quotes already issued. This seems to be quite a common issue with MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. This is the last time my family will use MIDAS. We are not idiots MIKE. Don't hide behind your email. When you get called out on your BS, be a businessman, and answer your clients. Try and win them back. All you have done here for the sake of scraping an extra $200 out of me is loose our family custom and raise awareness to anyone reading this very fair and truthful statement NOT TO USE MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. Best customer service I've ever experienced. Rob at the Dawson location is super helpful, and will go out of his way to accommodate anything you need in a very timely manner at a very reasonable cost. In 5 years I have never had a problem. Just once I "strayed" to another shop and ended up getting a not-so-good brake job with noisy/cheap parts, now I know better than to slum it with another shop for a groupon discount!! I trust the guys at BBM Dawson, and will stay with them :) They have always been honest, use premium parts, and have always offered excellent service and repairs. Kind of awesome and refreshing to see people actually care about what they do!
