After they told me I didn't need pads, I thought it would be a good idea to get them looked at again after the last 8k kms. Turns out needed the front done, but not the back. It was one of the recommended outfit to install snow tires I bought from the Web. I have since taken my car there for service twice. Once for a leaking tire and once for transmission maintenance. Entrance of this shop is at a back alley of No. Road, and the first impression is not at all impressive. One is likely to witness a wide variety of cars, from current models, to old classics, to one of a kind vehicle, under different stages of repairs as one winds his/her way into the office. It has no shinning floor and parts are scattered around. "Ordered messiness" might be an appropriate way to describe the shop. It sort of reminds me of the cluttered desk of one of the smartest professor I had at Stanford. But under this deceiving appearance, the shop is run by a crew of true professionals with good discipline, great service and unbeatable prices. It costed me $50 to repair a nail in my tire. A transmission service with full fluid change was $160, PARTS AND LABOUR included! It would have costed me more just to have the car examined at the dealership. On top of that, it opens until 9 pm! Which garage does that nowadays! I am a professional engineer with more than 30+ years of project experiences in aerospace. I have also been a car guys with five cars who still owns his first car (1971 Mustang) and changes his own oils. I know professionalism when I see it. It is definitely not easy for me to be impressed by an auto shop. --- I AM IMPRESSED BY CAR BOY. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. ---

Buddy had my car for a couple months trying to find parts. In that time his technician got into an accident with my car. Fine, they'll fix it and get to working on the real problem. Over the holidays, the owner of the shop decides to leave my vehicle on the street outside of his lot. Tuesday morning I get a call from VPD. "Sir, someone has broken into your car and your car is filling with rain. I call Arbutus service centre, leave a msg, don't hear back. I call back at noon the next day, speak to the owner. "Oh it's not my responsibility where your car is left, I won't be taking any responsibility for the damage caused." You couldn't even call me to give me the option to move my car out of your location if you didn't have time to work on it or it was taking space or was going to sit there over the holidays. That's what you do Steve, you call the client and say "hey, parts haven't come in, I don't have room to store your car, can you come pick it up? I'll call ya when the part is in and you can bring it back. You DON'T leave the vehicle on the street, quite simple. My car being broken into is not what bothered me, nor the fact that I trusted my vehicle with this mechanic or that I spent 5k and the mechanical issue still persisted. It was the shitty attitude and absolute lack of any ownership that made me loose 1000% respect for this person and his business. If that's the new norm, bring your car to a mechanic but you can't trust they'll keep your car safe, I call bullshit. Steve Hennessy, your behaviour, business practise and shit attitude after the fact.....poor poor poor absolutely sh** customer service. Your defiance, arrogance at how you practise business left me with the worst taste in my mouth. I am on my way out of this city and all you did was remind me why I cannot stand where humanity has reached. I looked at you, the experience and just thought "man, people are so awful" Had to scarp my car I was in love with. Now I don't have anything to move with. You ruined my last moth in Van. I hope you can live with this truth. It was in fact 100% your responsibility to keep my vehicle safe when you take that vehicle in. I trusted you to keep it safe. Had it been your own car, your mechanic left it on the street and someone broke into it, you'd be singing a different tune. But you weren't able to empathize were you? No, you just thought of yourself and how to cover your own ass. Since it's 2023, humanity is at its worst, you decided to screw me. Live with that. I strongly believe in karma and I believe yours will, has, is coming. Zero respect for you, absolute zero. You shouldn't advertise on your website things you simply do not practise. Lol your customers come first? Yeah right!

The owner/manager Danny (super chill and easy going guy) took care of me from the beginning. Usually I'm a bit edgy about trusting shops (including dealerships) as they've messed things up in my car before, but Danny was open when I mentioned the model-specific quirks for repairing my suspension. The other guys in the shop are easy going and friendly as well. I was able to guide them through the repair as the critical "quirky" parts of the procedures came up, and they were receptive. Very special mention for this, as most shops often have the "I know more than you do" attitude, followed by the "oh, I didn't know this repair for your car is different from other models, think I broke something" garbage. The entire shop is quite easy going, and there are cars going into and out of this place all the time. As a result, the work may take a bit longer, as the crew are switching back and forth between vehicles. But they have a nice lounge with Netflix, which kept me entertained. I also saw them offer other customers a lift to somewhere nearby such as Metropolis so they wouldn't be stuck at the shop for a few hours. During my repair, Danny even pointed out some failed components I didn't even know had broken. A quick call to the dealer to order parts, and I was back the next day. This repair took a while, but the shop was busy that day and I knew they were squeezing me in as a courtesy. No complaints. When the alignment was slightly off (common if the suspension isn't fully settled) after I picked up the car, Danny took the car right back in, no questions asked. He even took me around for a test drive so he could see the problem for himself. The price for replacing 4 controls arms, inner tie rod, and subsequent 4-wheel alignment(s) came to under $300 - almost too low, to be honest. Let's see the dealer do this work for under $1000. My suspension is now buttery smooth, and this shop has earned itself a loyal customer. Highly recommended.
